Review Curry Connection - Brisbane

Great place for delicious food. With Groupon it was even better. Expect to wait a bit after 6pm though. There is only 1 very friendly hardworking waiter to serve the whole restaurant so try to be patient

Finally can taste the popular Mango Lassi of this Groupon deal and is worth every dollars because the DOSA dishes are large in quantity and yummy with lots of herbs and you can choose the spiciness of the Curry level ;)

The food is unhygienic and it had a dead fly on the chicken buriyani I ordered. Please ensure food hygiene and serve good food

There were 7 of us and we decided to do the banquet as we were very hungry and wanted to maximize our value as a full time student with not too much thickness in our pockets. The banquet was a really good deal and we tried so many good dishes there. I highly recommend the butter chicken and they had really good vegetarian dishes too. I recommend going as it is conveniently located and also had decently good food. Really good value and pretty decent curries and other Indian foods. Also the samosas are huge and really good tasting

It used to be one of best Indian restaurants until 2015. But after the change of cook and staff it turned out to be The worst. I have visited here few times recently but there is no place for improvement with the taste and quality of food. Waste of money. Their dishes are not Indian style. For example, Malai kofta is not the curry you make with potato nuggets. Good bye to this place.

A bit all over the shop. Staff were friendly to talk to but the place needs a bit of an improvement in both service and food quality. The naan served is more comparable to roti and the two curries we had felt very heavy on the stomach and despite being two very different dishes looked and tasted the same. The fish curry had a question mark over the quality of the fish, and although the dish was meant to be based around lime, this was nowhere to be seen. Perhaps the biggest challenge was our mains took about an hour and a bit to come out while everyone dined and left around us, even those who came after us. As they left the dirty dishes accumulated as clearing the tables seemed to be lower down the priority list. This place is perhaps lost a little, too expensive for a good student meal but not quite right for the price point it's at. Perhaps a good takeaway option while a specials on.

Excellent food, very good service as well. Punjabi Chicken is an absolute standout and must try. My only critic would be they can improve the time they take to serve food after ordering, very slow on that front. But overall a great experience.

A friend booked a three course meal for two as part of my birthday present and we were looking forward to it. She booked on groupon. Got an email the other day saying that the money had been refunded so she called the restaurant only to find the deal was cancelled. They didn't honour the fact we had purchased the deal and didn't offer us any other deal which is rather disappointing. Safe to say we will be eating somewhere else for my birthday.

visited this restaurant again, this time for lunch. They were relatively quick this time. The staff was a nice and attentive lady. Food was good but very salty.

——————-
2017
Very slow service!
We got our entrees 35 minutes after ordering them. We got there at 6:30 and the restaurant wasn’t busy. I was feeling sick because of starvation. By the time we got our mains it was 7:35.
Staff were very nice and apologetic though. They work very hard but they need more staff. Only 2 staff were serving 9 tables. You can imagine how slow it could be.
Food was nice though. We had Saag paneer and Malai kofta. The kofta was tasty but not as nice as the one I had in other restaurants. The kofta was very small with probably no nuts or dried fruit.

I have been here 4 to 5 times now. My very own favourite is Butter chicken masala. The dish looks extra ordinary beautiful and presented very well. I also ordered for butter naans along with the dish. The butter naans were soft, light brown colour shade and had a good amount of butter on it to feel good.
Butter chicken is absolutely worth of trying.

Solid Indian place when you feel like curry after an exam at uni. Tried the chicken korma and butter chicken here and it was good. I would recommend getting a groupon deal as it is a bit expensive without it.

This used to be my go to curry place when I was going to uni but haven’t returned ever since graduating! Decided to come here after a while and the quality and service are still the same...great. The curries are fresh and have so much flavour. They are priced very well and the servings are quite big. A great Indian restaurant in this area.

Been here twice. Tried their mixed entree, tangdi kabab, dal tadka, Sindhi chilli chicken, chicken sukha ,cheese spinach naan, garlic naan along with kulfi, vanilla ice cream and gulab jamun for deserts. Decent and good Indian food must say. Service is also good especially on Thursdays...
Will definitely go back to try some other items on their menu next time.

Food is 10/10 :)
We have been there now few times and every time We go there is an Amazing experience.

I must mention SURYA who is an Amazing staff and a very good host. He is lovely and happy to help every-time we have been there. I personally love this place now and would recommend to everyone who is looking for Real India Taste.

The quantity of the food is good with the Authentic India taste. Staff is helpful and Friendly and always happy to help their customers.

Purchased the group on deal for @29

+'ves
Taste of the food was definitely good

-'ves
The quantity of the food was too low. We ordered the entrees, 2 curries and naan and had to wait for a long time for the food to arrive.

1. First the entree portion was small and also the chicken piece in that was tiny
2. Usually in other restaurants if we purchase single curry it will be sufficient for 2 or 3 persons sometimes, but in this restaurant we ordered 2 curries and it was not at all enough for 2 people.
3. Naan bread was so thin, half naan will be filling in other restaurants but here we ordered extra 2 naans but still it was not that filling at all.

Overall food taste was good but the quantity was not up-to to the mark

I went there for my b'day party I am a veg so ordered Dal makhani and naan and it was actually good. My friends are non veg so they ordered buyer chicken, Sunday at lunch, Peter's special dosa, garlic naan, kerela beef masala, kadai chicken etc and they really loved it. The staff is friendly and the service was ok. If you want to have some good Indian food this place is definitely for you.

Had the meal delivered. Took over 1hr 45 mins to arrive, and the driver failed to communicate the fact that he got lost, so I had to walk to meet him.

>> The Set lunch is excellent. Three curries, rice, naan, samosa/chicken for a pretty decent price.
>> The banquet is even better (albeit for a greater price, of course). A great way to splash out with a group of friends.

BYO is also a big plus.

Recently redecorated and in a really nice relaxed location on Hawken Drive.

Very friendly staff, a pleasure to visit.

Great good and great taste. Fish madras curry is my personal best. The fish they use is a winner is terms of taste. Chicken shahajahane is equally good. If not fussed about the ambience this is the place to go to for proper indian food.

After having passed by Curry Connection several times and intrigued about their food, I finally decided to pay a visit. It always looked inviting with its simple set up and happy diners, but never seemed to be the student destination, which put me away for this long.

I ordered the set lunch plate which came with one choice of meat curry, two vegetable curries, rice, half-naan, chicken drumstick and raitha (spiced cucumber and yoghurt dip). I selected the Chicken Chennai for the non-veg curry while the vegetable dishes were chef's choice, with today being a dry potato-peas dish and dal (lentil gravy). The chicken curry had a tomato based gravy with the wonderful spicy flavours of the peppercorns coming through very subtly, balanced by the sweet tomato and cream gravy. The chicken was well cooked and very tender. The vegetable dishes were fine but the dal was definitely the stand out, simple yet flavourful. The naan was nice but it was a bit on the thicker side and therefore, not as crisp. The chicken drumstick was fine, it did have the tandoor flavours but the flavours weren't intense, and very light.

The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was served within 10minutes. However, it was a quiet time at the restaurant and I'd have to visit during the peak times to see if the service remains quick. The curries are priced from $16 onwards and the menu offers a wide range of dishes. However, I would like to see more combo meal options such as half-curry and naan or half-curry and rice, etc. This makes it easier to sample more of the dishes rather than have to spend around $20 to buy a whole curry. The $14.90 set meal was decently filling but could do with a full-naan instead of the half-naan and then the price would work for me. Moreover, I was surprised to find no sweets on the menu! Indian sweets are fantastic and they are quite time consuming to prepare but even one sweet on the menu would have been nice.

I will definitely return but there are other Indian restaurants in St Lucia offering competitive meal combos which will be something to watch out.

The meal took up over 45 minutes to come out after ordering. It seemed very poorly organized in general. The food barely tastes like Indian (tasted like watered down curry), with incredibly small portion sizes for the price you pay.
I would not recommend coming here.

Not bad not bad, tasty.we ordered some takeaway from Curry connection tonight. They were a bit slow, had to wait over half an hour. Food had great flavour, although tandoori chicken was a bit dry. We had lamb sagawaala, a prawn dish and some samosas. The samosa's were awesome, definitely the highlight for me, very tasty!

the food are tasty, i can see how the chef won a lot of award for that, the service are friendly, and i like how the curry are all freshly made and not the usual ready to serve kind. even so, this may be the reason for their slow service, the food make it worth it though, the price are a bit expensive i would be happy if its cheaper but their curry is really good.
The Invisible Food Critic
I remembered coming here a few years ago and recalled it being quite good for their quality of curries and fast & efficient service. Being off the mains strip of University of Queensland it is convenient for students living around the area for takeaways and a quick bite. Last time I was here (dinner time), takeaways were flying out the window non-stop, really shows their consistency of quality through so many years being here.

Friendly relaxed service D.... Friendly relaxed service
Delightful fish madras curry and vegetable korma
I Love Food
Fantastic amazing so yummy. We ordered 16 curries, rice, naan, roti, chutney, raitha for a work function and every dish was amazing. Everyone commented how this was the best Indian they have had in a long time. We will be back again.

Authentic (not Australianized). I've been trying to find an Indian Restaurant that cooks Indian food in the 'Indian way' for many years in Australia.
Such restaurants are easy to find in UK, Singapore - the standard is very high and you cant find a bad restaurant. In my opinion it seems most Indian restaurants in Australia modify the food to a supposed Australian taste (adding a lot of sugar) but ruin it for those that know what it should taste like. This restaurant cooks authentically. Oh lord how long I have been looking for this place. Here's a strong positive vote from an Englishman who knows his curries!

I absolutely love the Lamb Korma - best I have found. Lovely staff and consistently good food.

Great lunch specials. The lunch specials are great value service is friendly.

Overpriced. The curry here is average and nothing special. Very steep in price considering the many cheap alternatives in the 50m vicinity. $25+ for a basic curry, rice and naan for one. Go elsewhere.
Annikac
Good quality tasty curries. The lunch menu is value for money with friendly attentive service.

Dosai day. Nice dosai to be had on Sundays for only $10 a pop. Yum!

Pretty Average. Recently went here with a big group of friends. The first thing I noticed were the fairly steep prices, especially considering how cheap everything else is nearby. $19 for a no-frills curry, and an extra $2 for rice? It's no surprise this place isn't popular amongst students.

Service was friendly, but very slow. Granted, we came as a fairly big group of 8 people, but it took 40 minutes for the first entrees to arrive, and another 10 mins for the mains to come out. Once our meals arrived we were really disappointed by the small portions. Thankfully the quality of the food itself was pretty good. Both curries I tried - the Butter Chicken and the Chicken Shahjahani - were quite tasty, although somewhat over-sweetened.

Poor value, sub-par service and decent food. You'd be better off dining somewhere else on Hawken Drive.
DavidS
Over priced, ordinary food. Paid 20% more than what we do for similar meal elsewhere. Refused an entertainment book voucher for takeaway, that was not indicated on the voucher. Food was OK. Interesting samosa. Lamb saagwala was ordinary. Butter chicken quite good. I won't be going back unless I want to pay too much for average Indian again

Don not eat here. We are locals and thought we would try this place out.

I read some reviews and it seemed like an ok cheap place to eat.

The man behind the counter was rude to my husband..food was tasteless and it was so expensive for what we got.

It was white rice instead of saffron rice.
The Rita tasted so bad we couldn't eat it.
Small portions.
Rude staff.
Bad taste in mouth.

We will be telling our friends and NEVER eating their again!!!

So disappointed!
Anonymoose
Reasonably good. Not a bad place to stop for a meal - the food is good, and the prices reasonable. However, if you're running short on time or to a schedule, you might want to try somewhere else for lunch. If you've got a bit more time though, definitely consider it.
Stevie
Very fair price and a good serving and a variety of different curry makes for an enjoyable dining experience.

The banquet was reasonably Good value for money and a nice way to sample a number of dishes. Butter chicken slightly on the sweet side but otherwise very good. Lamb rogan Josh was spot on, would even suggest ordering it hot (we had mild) just for some extra kick. Wishing I were a student again to enjoy the lunch specials!

Great curries and lovely set meals!!! Price may be a little expensive but would recommend to others.

Lunch of Champions. While I've eaten dinner at Curry Connection several times and never been disappointed, it's the lunches that stand out to make this one of my favourite restaurants, Indian or otherwise.

The weekday lunch special served in the thali style plate gives you great value, as well as the chance to taste several different types of dishes, including vego, lentil/dhal, and a meat curry, along with a tandoori piece and rice and naan.

And then Sunday lunches with the Dosas and Uttapams, traditional Indian street food that is hard to find in Brisbane, and even harder to find served this well. With a bottlo nearby and outdoor/indoor eating, it's a great, cheap and relaxing way to spend a Sunday lunch.

I have enjoyed Indian food for over 25 years and Curry Connection offers some of the best food I have ever tried. Fresh and not too heavy. Highly recommended.

The prices at first appeared to be quite expensive, however there were lunch specials available for around $10 which was what I ordered. For $10 I received rice, a poppadom, 1 meat curry and two vegetarian sides. Overall it wasn’t too bad, and it was interesting trying the different vegetarian dishes. It would have been better if the poppadom was substituted with naan bread and there was more food!
