Review Coco Cozy Cafe - Brisbane

Bonnie Rose
Coco’s cafe offers such a wide range of good quality food at a great price. All your classics (bacon, eggs, sandwiches, smoothies and great coffee) without all the new age weird combinations. They’re a solid option for breakfast on a Saturday after a big night (at at like 3pm) and the staff are always outstanding.

Been here a few times now. Kelvin Grove is a nice peaceful suburb, and this is a nice convenient and comfortable cafe. I'm hooked on Eggs Benedict at the moment, and Coco Cozy Cafe did not disappoint. I enjoy their coffee also.

Bitterly disappointed. Arrived 10am and ordered a big breakfast. Sat down and did not see a single meal leave the kitchen for a good 20 minutes when Uber eats arrived to pick up a delivery. 10.30am our meal arrived with what I can only describe as a bite sized breakfast steak, cold baked beans, hash browns, and scrambled eggs. Toast was super cold, so much so that it was almost ‘rubbery’. To call it toast implies it was hot / warm. It was neither. Yes staff are pleasant and coffees were flying out the door but our first experience has resulted in this negative review. We left barely eating much of the food on the plate.

Ordered a toasted sandwich which cost $15, it took around 25 mins to come out and barely had any filling. Not wasting my time or money here again. Do better.

A nice spot for a build your own breakfast plate. Standard food and eggs weren’t cooked the way I asked. Staff were lovely. A very reasonably priced menu. Nice hot mochas although not a fan of the chocolate syrup used in the iced mochas.

Fantastic service, warm atmosphere, perfectly toasted and buttered raisin toast, and they made my convoluted hot chocolate order perfectly. Will be coming here every week on my way into uni. Plus they have egg chairs!

$15 for a toasted sandwich because we selected the ingredients - pineapple (canned), avo, cheese. $15 - are you serious ? Rude response from owner - if you don't want don't buy.

The lady who served me today was so lovely. Thank you it brightened my day. Great coffee too !

Nice & Quick service. Served Really Hot Tea - a rarity in Brisbane. Good ambience, Good food - though it's just the usual menu but preparation is good.
Basically, it's just the place for nice time with a friend or alone.
Prefer sitting on those Hanging Seats !

Had a vegetarian brekkie by choose my own combination this morning at this café. Located at a very eye-catching location and opened early in the morning at 6:00am. I can foresee how busy it is prior to my exploration. Actually, the huge space provided by its venue reflects what I thought when I arrived this morning. Ordered my coffee and brekkie with combination of thin sliced toast with scramble egg, spinach and mushroom from the very friendly waitress. It did not take long to have everything on my table. Coffee was presented with beautiful latte art and it was smooth with depth of flavour. Brekkie was exactly what I expected. Not very heavy but good enough for my little stomach. I loved the chef seasoned the egg prior to scramble it so it was tasteful. Together with the spinach and mushroom, they were all well balanced. Good.

This place Rocks! The best value food and the friendliest service going. We love visiting here and will continue to do so. We never leave here feeling hungry or ripped off.

Disturbingly aggressive staff charged me three times on my credit card and refused to correct this. The manager/owner is extremely aggressive and has consistently refused to acknowledge the error. Avoid this dishonest place.

Good cafe place for to be in Kelvin Grove area. The sandwich breakfast was delicious. Enjoyed the late breakfast and it's open on Sundays as well.

Have become a regular here for my morning hot chocolate and staff are lovely. The food is also delicious would definitely recommend this place for a nice casual cafe breakfast or lunch.

One of the finest brekkie bars in Brissie, Coco Cozy is an absolute gem for Kelvin Grove students and residents alike.
They constantly deliver coffee wise, whether you take on a cappuccino, latte or one with a syrup of your choice. They are happy to top you up some extra milk if your drink goes cold, too.
Their multiple choice breakfasts really turn on the style, too - beautifully done eggs, nice bacon and the famous avocado addition joining mushrooms, tomatoes and toast in elegant fashion.
Sure, there could be more toast, but the same could be said for most places.
Finally, the service, seats and facilities (televisions) are fabulous, the staff are really friendly and it's a place you will find yourself visiting again and again.

Grabbed a quick take away coffee from here. I found mine to be bitter and Luke warm. The service was fast and friendly. They have the biggest range of banana breads I have ever seen.

Unfortunately affected by this business. Paid under award wage and owners claimed not to know what an industry award or group certificate was. When asked to be paid legal wage, owners became abusive and said they didn't want Fair Work to know. Hours suddenly dropped to nothing until I was "no longer needed." This resulted in weeks of having no income until I found another job - luckily I have a supportive family and partner, but I feel so concerned for students just starting out who don't have these connections! One day I'd be their favourite, hardest-working staff member, the next I wasn't worthy of silking milk. Worked in business for 2 months, in which time two La Marzocco espresso machines were purchased. Such machines cost between $15,000 and $20,000. Staff not allowed to sample coffees or teas as they are "too expensive." It frightens me to think business owners would have such disregard for their employees. I apologise for this negative feedback....

Ordered the eggs benedict with the smoked salmon...with a side of bacon of course. It was awesome. Hooray for me!
I couldn't think of anything more choice to eat on a Sunday morning. Hooray for me again!

Rude to regular customers- thanks for two years of custom.. I have been coming here and ordering takeaway coffees and sandwiches for the last two year and the staff know me well and have been friendly in the past. Today I came in at lunch time and ordered a coffee and a muffin, but almost didn't because the place was fairly full and most seats were taken, but I managed to ask someone at another table if I could join them.

A minute after my muffin and coffee were delivered to the table the same staff member who had served me approached the table and asked if we could both leave as a "large group of 5" needed a table and outside was too cold for them. I told them that I had just arrived and I did not want to sit outside either as the chairs out there were uncomfortable and the group could sit outside if they wished. i vacated the table and asked for a refund which the gave, but then I noticed that there were only two people seated at the table and I needn't have moved.

Its great they refunded the money, but I still put $6.50 in the parking metre and couldn't get that money back. They might have thought it made good financial sense to eject me for a group having lunch, but perhaps didn't calculate that I have lunch there at least once a week and will now never return! I will also be letting my friend who visit what has happened, as they also have the option to go to a number of other nearby coffee shops.

Excellent coffee & service - tasty large breakfast with variety, good value for money.. Coffee is fabulous. Best in the area.

Choice for breakfast is great and cooked well and can be shared with another as quite large.

As for previews reviews about mouldy avocado..... I have the Avocado with cracked pepper and lemon regularly and in over 2 years it has never been mouldy.

Best service in the area.

Awful. Used to really like this place as one of my locals... But the service and food have really deteriorated. The kitchen staff are exceptionally incompetent and inconsistent with the food plated up and I have seen staff deliver my food to the wrong customer, and despite that customer having eaten some of the meal, take it back and deliver the exact same meal back to me.

Never going back.

Crap service - Stale food. I ordered tandoori chicken open sandwich on Turkish bread.

After nibbling my way through less than half of one side of the open sandwich I decided I had picked off enough moldy avocado. The second half of the sandwich was just as bad.

I sent the sandwich back to the kitchen and was greeted by the 'chef' who advised me this was normal on an avocado. I advised that I eat avocados everyday and they are never moldy. I requested a refund.

After waiting for a response for ten minutes i was greeted by the owner of the business who said she will take my details and call me later in relation to the matter. I said fine but I would like to take a picture of the food. She said ok and brought the plate back and guess what, she had scraped off all the moldy avocado.

The young girl working there was very helpful but it was out of her hands and the owner just wanted me out of the shop. I got a little tempered when I saw she had removed the bad food and didn't want to know me. She just continued to ignore me and the level of customer service is the worst I have ever seen

So here is what I got - I'm less $15 and still hungry......... stay away from this cafe. the food is crap and the service from the owners is crap. I wish I had a photo to show you how terrible it was.

Oh is that what you get. 1 rash of bacon ripp off. Packet pancake mix. Crappy service. Yeah thanks for that we won't be back.
OnlyOneFreddie
That was the crappiest, most overpriced pitiful $11 "breakfast" I have ever eaten. Do not go here. It is the greatest rip-off of all time.

We went for breakfast this morning. The coffee was great, after all, it's elixir. However the three egg omelette was average and the eggs Benedict was the absolute worst I've ever had. It was drowned in a poor excuse for hollandaise sauce and the rest of the food was lacking in freshness and flavour.
I'd go back for coffee but after reading the other reviews now, I would definitely not go back for food.

I keep giving this place a go and keep wondering why I do so. I just paid $9 for a basic sandwich. I don't drink coffee but their hot chocolate is terrible so I would steer towards the other coffee shops in Kelvin Grove

Love this place! Best Brisbane Breakfast!. I love the Coco Cozy Cafe, and have been a regular for about the past 18 months.

The coffee is consistent and superb. They serve Elixir coffee too, so already on a winner. The service is friendly, happy and helpful, and the breakfasts are amazing! My favourite is the Cozy Breakfast! Huge and delicious! A meal that will last all day.

Highly recommended! Especially for breakfast and coffee! A great study spot too!

Won't try this again . . .. I had one bad experience but decided to give it another go. I should have kept it that way. The driest banana bread I have evert tasted with a pretty solid burnt coffee.

And I still don't know what they are trying to be as a service. Ceramic Australian birds on pot plants outside, Old English cart for water glasses inside, a menu with a mix of lasagne, mixed curries and thai food with coffee? Inside is cluttered and cramped. Trying to be too much and getting confused in the process.

Keep it simple and it could be good!
The Tigers
The Tigers. This Coco Cozy Cafe is the best coffee you can get in the Kelvin grove by miles.... the girls are very friendly and well service with a smile, and all the breakfast menu is so good that we have to go there every Saturday with the market is on, love it, go and try, we highly recommended.

Well below average food and drinks. been once, never to return again. cheap food inappropriately priced.

Really nice iced coffee and iced chai to go with lunch. Grilled lemongrass chicken & rice was surprisingly good, wit a tasty ginger dipping sauce. BLAT came with awesome crispy chips, and service was friendly and fast.
