Have been to Death and Taxes a fair few times since its opening, but every time I go, I always wonder about Bar Alba next door. Last friday after quite a busy week we finally decided it was time to go check it out. It was really busy on a Friday afternoon as you would expect. We got the last two seats of the house and were lucky enough to be right in front of the bar and able to watch the action.
Tucked and hidden away in Brisbane CBD, Alba is a gem! Great atmosphere and friendly staff, it was great for a catch up over delicious food.
Menu was quite small and definitely do recommend trying one of everything
AMAAAAZING music soundtrack!!! This cute little Spanish themed place is tucked in an alleyway and their ethos is hip hop, jamon, and sherry. Delicious sherry and even more delicious treats! Definitely come through for a date or to have a chill night with friends. We got lucky and were able to snag the window seat this time around ;)
Great atmosphere with old school hip hop music. The food was really good, we didn't know what to expect but it didn't disappoint. The potato skins was different but we really enjoyed it. Our favourite dish was the smoked chorizo and smoked peppers, we would come back just to have that again. I had trust in the waitress for a selection of wine, I told her what I liked and she brought back a Shiraz that was perfect with the meal. We can't wait to come back and try the other dishes on the menu.
Brisbane's small eats scene is growing up and Alba is an amazing little venue with a serious offering. Great atmosphere, delicious small plates and a killer drinks menu put Alba near the top of a very competitive field. If you love places like Maker, Snack Man and Gerard's Bar you'll find a home here and if you don't the staff will win you over anyway.
I wish I took more photos! Loved this joint tucked away on the laneway of CBD.
Cozy yet nice spacious venue with good lighting and ceiling height. There is a open kitchen at the corner and the bar has full stock!
Gotta try food there too. It’s not just cocktails but the food to go with them. Check out the special and make conversations with friendly and knowledgeable staffs.
Looking for a late evening family meal in the city with teenage boys, we were directed from another bar close by to Alba. So impressed from the moment we walked in, the friendly greeting, the prompt wait staff, the lighting, the seating, the music - pleasantly loud - and the menu. Waiter brought water straight away, they were happy for use to share plates and the food and wine were delicious. Excellent atmosphere. An all round excellent experience. Thank you!
Alba is a tucked away tapas bar down Burnett lane. The owner, Jamie, served us personally. He is an ex-master chef contestant and extremely passionate in what he does.
The food was exceptional, we tried several tapas from their scallops, to croquette, black sausage and rump steak. Everything tasted superb and we will definitely be back the next time we are in Brisbane. It reminded us of a Melbourne laneway restaurant, except in Brissy. Definitely try as many dishes as you can, you won't regret it!
Tucked away snugly in Burnett Lane in Bne City, I was at Alba bar and Deli for a private event - great food, wonderful espresso martinis and g&ts, staff are relaxed and friendly. I will def go there again!
Best beer cocktail on this side of the barrier reef. Anyone who’s anyone in Brisbane frequents Alba for their delicious eats, succulent service and exquisite beverages. Best piece of advice is to ask for the off menu cocktail - “The behemoth” it doesn’t disappoint. 10/10!!!
Fantastic laneway tapas bar. The mussels were a highlight for us. Most of the dishes we ate had bold, punchy flavours - if you're after subtle, delicate and refined flavours, save it for another night, but otherwise you're in for a treat!
This place deserves more credit, definitely different from many other offerings in the CBD with great tapas style menu and solid selection of wines. Service was relaxed yet efficient and friendly, no faults there. The laneway itself has a few other places but Alba really stands out.
So the tiny beers threw me for a moment, never been served a beer that tiny anywhere before lol but it was very nice, the service was impeccable and the food was divine. The olives in the pasta were so incredibly delicious I was very pleased that they had jars for sale so I could take some home. The sandwiches look amazing too. I'd like to come back during the day to try those. All up a very pleasant experience.
+ Bonus points for the bread to mop up my plates 👍
