Review Metro Coffee - Broadbeach

Richard Bunker
Excellent food, fast service and really nice coffee. Food was presented well. Checkout the breakfast burrito 🌯 - I have no regrets! It's a great place for breakfast or brunch and after eats go for a walk around the corner hang at the beach for a while!

Came here for breakfast as a recommendation from our accommodation and enjoyed it so much that we came again the second morning 😋 Very tasty and generous portions with professional and friendly staff. Coffee is excellent!

Their chocolate beetroot cake was addictive, it was gluten free but tasted so good! Also ordered the wagyu burger which was great. Service was also very friendly

OMG best pancakes we have ever had. Coffee and Hot Chocolate also excellent. Staff very friendly and service quick. Highly recommend.

We ordered chilli scrambled eggs, classic and pancakes for kids and all of it was amazing. The staff are very friendly. The coffee is a bit strong for my liking but it's still really good. They truly know how to make yummy breakfast and coffee.

Good quality breakfast and portions are big. Good service too. You can also order directly from the table using a barcode. We walked out satisfied and will definitely return.

Average. Wasn’t a fan of the coffee. Food good but nothing special. Prices are a bit steep, could get the same quality elsewhere for $5 less. Not bad, might come again if im in the area but not first on my list.

Found this cute place close to the Crowne Plaza hotel. The lattes were delicious. The atmosphere was delightful, and the staff was amazing and sweet. I went back just to try the muffin I saw previously. It was huge and just as good as it looked. Thank you!

Disappointing to say the least. I ordered the Texas Waffle with extra jalapeños...i obviously like spicy food. However getting into my meal, I found that it was just jam packed with red chillies and no extra jalapeños. This made the dish inedible. Nowhere on the meal description was there mention of red chillies. When clearing the table and my dish was collected, the waitress asked if everything was ok as I had left the majority of my food untouched. I explained the chilli situation. After this, a tall blonde lady, who I’m assuming was a manager/ owner came out and stated ‘you asked for extra chillies’ to which I responded, ‘no I asked for extra jalapeños.’ She then walked off and did not return. I walked into the cafe to speak with this lady again. Upon questioning her regarding her lack of feedback, the male making the coffees abruptly entered the conversation. He rudely said ‘it’s a spicy dish.’ The blonde lady repeated herself and said, ‘you asked for extra chillies’ and then in the same breath she claimed ‘we don’t actually have red chillies in the kitchen, that was red capsicum’. If you’re providing a food service, you should know the difference between a chilli and a capsicum. No apology was given, rude and argumentative service was met by my meal feedback. I was simply trying to suggest they should make mention in the meal board of the amount of chillies in the dish...of which they supposedly don’t even have in the kitchen??? I will not be returning. Ps. The coffee was rubbish.

Absolutely a must go to cafe. Awrsome friendly staff. Great food. All day breakfast to die for. Opening hours are perfect from 6am so no excuses to have breakfast and still be in time for work. Keep up the great work.

This is one of the best cafe's I've ever had breaky at! Only tiny but friendly efficient service and the food was to die for!!

Nice well presented cafe with friendly staff and prompt service. Chefs cobb was delicious and reasonably priced. Coffee and a blueberry and white chocolate muffin to finish off with.

Great little cafe, second visit Sunday 5th May. <br/><br/>Initial visit a few months back - 4.5 stars! Friendly warm welcome by lovely lady, water and glasses and menu provided, specials board (wall) explained and invitation to place order inside when ready. efficient and friendly and best eggs benny with smoked salmon I’ve had in s long time. The coffee was great too!<br/><br/>This time, we waited to be acknowledged (10 mins didn’t happen) before deciding to sit at a vacant table on the pavement. No one came to the table. A very young girl waiting tables.... eventually caught her eye to ask for some water. She came back with just that - no menus - but we were there for one thing - the amazing eggs Benny again - so I went in and ordered. <br/><br/>$52 for 2 eggs Benny (one with side of bacon) and two coffees - it is getting up there expensive for eggs Benny - considering you can have eggs Benny at many of the 5 star hotels around as part of a buffet breaky for $30pp - including 1 at the end first ave.... <br/><br/>The breakfasts were delivered swiftly - and again taste was on point. Generous lashings of smoked salmon... but 1 slice bacon for $5 is again, expensive... <br/><br/>The coffees were nicely extracted and full body with good crema, but not very hot. I don’t like really hot coffee so was good for me - but my Mum was less impressed this time. The cups are large diameter and not deep - and a tiny handle you can’t put a man’s finger through - so cool fast and awkward to handle - but very nice coffee <br/><br/>There was a thin tall very unbalanced planter box that kept trying to topple over right against our table (outside Heather’s Hair Salon) we saved about 5 times during our meal when people would bump it - or I’d accidentally bump it with my leg... was very annoying ..... we bought it to the attention of the waiter who literally just laughed and said “yeah, I know”... <br/><br/>This time I’m giving three stars. <br/><br/>The service was awkward and inefficient and not welcoming. We all start somewhere - but train and support your junior staff. When you pay this much - you expect a level of service commensurate, even when counter ordering... <br/><br/>The planter box really needs anchoring or better stability. It’s annoying for this table and potentially dangerous <br/><br/>The prices are getting up there - which is a shame. We are locals (holiday house around corner) and this place has a good name - but from our last visit and a few of the others in our building commented - - it’s starting to feel like the many other establishments around that tend to cater for tourist market... high prices and not so worried about the experience / return custom. <br/><br/>Please get back to basics and concentrate on your great food and coffee and train you’re able staff - and be careful with your prices. <br/><br/><br/><br/>

As much as I love Broadbeach and its plethora of great breakfast spots, sometimes it is nice to venture out of the main hub and see where locals frequent. Metro is hardly out of the way, being a leisurely 10-15 walk north of Sofitel and surrounding restaurants on Surf Pde.<br/><br/>Upon arrival at this bustling corner cafe, I was greeted by bubbly staff and received speedy service for the duration of my stay. The 'Healthy Choice' delivered on presentation, however the tomato was underripe and the dish as a whole lacked seasoning.<br/><br/>I'd give them another go, as I was so impressed with the team and vibe of the place. Other dishes looked promising.

Ordered the smoke salmon bagel as pictured, which was recommended on someone's review on Zomato. The staff were friendly and the place itself looks nice. The bagel was fresh and a decent serve of smoke salmon included. The reason for the 3 star however is because I though it was overpriced. $18 or $17.90 to be exact, is expensive(that's the price of a decent egg benedict at other reasonable cafĂŠs). The inside had butter, cream cheese, bit of onions, capers and 3 very thick slices of tomatoes. To me dining at a good CafĂŠ is a combination of good atmosphere, good food and good value. I got the first 2 but unfortunately not the value.

Lovely cafe not far from the beach. The salmon bagel I had was really fresh and yummy. Huge cafe cup comparing to other brunch places. Highly recommended.

Sensational. My salmon salad was loaded with avocado, feta and capers, then there was a home-made carrot cake to follow which was moist, not too sweet and delicious. A nitro coffee to wash it all down, friendly staff to boot. Can't recommend it enough. Oh and Victoria, if you read this, to save you embarrassing yourself yet again with another nonsensical rant, I paid for my meal myself, it wasn't free and I wasn't on welfare at the time.

I had the best steak sandwich in years. Fresh Turkish bread with rocket, Swiss cheese, tomato, spicy aioli and tender slices of eye fillet cooked rare. Great coffee and service rounded off an awesome lunch.

Do yourself a favour and try this place out - What an awesome little cafe!  I'm not a big fan of eggs, and can never find any place that makes decent bircher muesli (my fav).......this place DOES!  It was SO SO good.   My husband had the savoury mince with poached eggs and loved it too.  Other baked good looked yummy and their juices were very tasty.  The staff were so accommodating and friendly as were the kitchen staff - will DEFINITELY be back here again when staying down the coast.  Great experience!

Great joint. Good coffee. Zucchini fritters are great. For all you North Americans they have bagels. Go and visit if you're nearby for breakfast

Awesome little cafe in Broadbeach and not too far from the water. Awesome staff and incredibly massive servings! I got the bacon and egg pie which was incredible, wrapped in bacon with a side of tomato relish, also a must try is the passion fruit melting moment and super rich caramel slice!! Definitely going back!

coffee was above average ... food was good with fresh ingredients ... friendly people ... but the place is a bit cramped ... recommended though

Had a great bit of breakfast here after finding on zomato. Even though it was very busy when we arrived we were seated quickly and the given menus by a very friendly waitress. I had the 'healthy' and my boyfriend had the breakfast burger. We were both very pleased with our meals and mine was quite a large portion, I didn't need to eat again until late afternoon! Overall we had a great experience and I would certainly go back for lunch or to try one of their amazing looking cakes.

Great menu range however the quality was a bit of a let down. The coffee is very strong which wasn't to my taste but OK if you like strong coffee. Banana smoothie was great as it wasn't pasty or too sweet as many are. Bircher Muesli and The Classic were disappointing as the Muesli was too sweet and had too much honey in it and the Classic's tomatoes were mush (perhaps overcooked or the tomatoes were too watery). Overall okay brunch, depends on what you order.

Great service. The three of us were seated as soon as we arrived and coffee was on the table not long thereafter (great considering it is Easter Sunday). Tropical freshly squeezed juice was super refreshing and the mince on toast was scrummy. Scrambled eggs were on the over cooked side however home made bread and fruit toast were a treat.

My fav spot for coffee anywhere on Gold Coast. And best Eggs benedict on the planet. Platimum service always. I love the place, the people, the product.

We didn't have to wait for a table on Sunday morning which is always a bonus. Food was nice. The Turkish bread serving is huge. Coffee was nice. I'd come back again. The staff are lovely are very helpful.

Yes!!!! Kinda split abt whether to rate this obscure lil cafe as it has become my boyfriend and my absolute go to. Coffee is perfection... sorry to the last poster who said otherwise, but I drink way too much coffee and I'm pretty snobby because of my intake but I drink it black so i can taste the actual coffee, not the milk, so yeah, its 100% desirable, not bitter at all and STRONG! <br/><br/>Oh god its a wall of text and i havent even started on the numerous options on the food menu... probably a good thing i dont gush further. Metro coffee is mine, all mine. Please never change. 😘

Deciding what to have off the menu was challenging - so many fresh choices that will see me returning. The meals were fresh and generous and the coffee excellent. We enjoyed the salmon salad, breakfast fritters and a special burrito wrap. Beautifully presented and quality ingredients.

Been here twice, pretty good muffins, but the coffee is the worst I have ever had! And I tried it twice. Tasted like dirty diluted milk both times...

Food was average. Mushrooms were good but bacon was extremely salty, and the poached eggs were half cooked. However the staff was very friendly and quick.

Love this place, I'm here every week, staff are super friendly, plenty of seats, foods absolutely delicious and super fast on our order. Never had a bad meal yet

A hidden gem! The coffee and food was beautifully presented and tasted fantastic, prompt and friendly service, bustling but relaxed atmosphere, we could not fault it! Definitely worth a stop along your morning walk to the beach!

Love it here! The portions are generous and they have an all day breakfast menu. A bit too much chocolate syrup in my mocha and the staff aren't exactly the friendliest or most accommodating bunch but the food is good so I can overlook that.

I don't usually go out for breakfasts but somehow I managed to wake up early enough on that day. So here I was at Metro coffee. I ordered mushroom stack with extra halloumi cheese (who doesn't like halloumi!) It was very lovely! The flavor of those wild mushrooms were sensational! <br/>It was a pleasant morning. And of course after the meal I fell back to sleep...<br/>Zzzz

Good open air spot with quick service from friendly staff. Metros own brand of beans are a hit with nonstop foot traffic collecting take aways. As a soy drinker I was disappointed with the brand of soy, I'll try the cold drip next time.

We ordered and waited 25 minutes for a seat in the morning. When a seat freed up and we sat down, they kicked us off and gave it to someone who came after us and who hadn't even ordered yet. Unfair. Rude. Didn't even try to give us a seat after waiting that long and already having ordered.<br/>The acai bowl was good but their service is terrible in the mornings.

It's my local and definitely by far my favorite coffee. Always get the same great standard in food. The staff are friendly and it's not stuck up like some of the other coffee shops close by.

Terrible beans, not sure who they are using. Food looks good. I'd come back to try the food. Staff seem friendly enough, generic in the now fit.

All good!. Enjoying a short weekend on the Gold Coast we weren't sure where to go for breakfast. Between Metro and Elk I think we might have scored! Had a fantastic breakfast at Metro with both the brekky burger and the special Mexican brekky burger. Please put that on your menu permanently. That burger was awesome! Coffees were perfect and if weren't so stuffed we were going to tuck into some of the sweeter items. Great service too! Thanks for the experience!

Fantastic Little Gem. Have been here on holidays for 2 weeks. This coffee shop was a golden find. <br/>Both available blends are phenomenal.<br/>Food is absolutely top notch. Tasty, fresh, big serves, great value.<br/>Service is first class. Each person has remembered my daughter and I and remembered our 'usual' order. Always friendly, even when obviously busy.<br/>We have made sure not to miss our daily visit - it is THAT good.

Yummmmm. Been a few times now and never disappointed, food is super fresh and delicious. Coffee spot on. <br/><br/>They happily altered the menu to please my son today and werent slightly bothered by the hassle, the service is good. We drive from Varsity Lakes just to have brunch here and that's saying alot considering we pass by many other more popular establishments... keep up the good work guys!!

1.5 hour wait and still no food. After ordering a coffee and 2 eggs Benedictine my partner and I sat down out the front and waited for our meals, others were standing outside waiting for tables. Those people were seated after about a 20min wait out the front proceeded to order their meals and received their meals. One women receiving the wrong type eggs and having that rectified immediately.<br/>We continued to wait, my partner went up to the front counter 2 times during all of this and asked how much longer the meals were going to be. The response "the orders are all in line and yours will be 5 min"<br/>We had been waiting over 1 and a half hours !<br/>Went to the front counter to ask again, she said without and remorse, soon !<br/>My partner then asked to have a full refund as it's been over an hour and a half. She said just wait it's coming, she did do but with no applogie or even to offer the now cold coffee free of charge for the inconvenience. <br/>Appalling costumer service ! And no offer to rectify this even with a free $3 coffee !<br/>Extreamly upset

Came with kids. The service was much faster than I expected, this is nice with young kids. i got there at 11;30 before a lunch rush. Food was good enough for me to comment on and seemed really fresh. I'll go back, service girl was pleasant/sincere and happy to chat to a newbie coffee drinker. I had the Cappucino killer (this was my preferred flavour, it was smokey like a neat whiskey) and the Cappa house blend (bitter but drinkable).

The quality of food here is above and beyond.

Our new favourite breakfast place!. We've had brunch here four times now and have never been disappointed. They forgot our coffee the first time we went, so we asked for it after we'd finished our meal. No big deal. Other than that, it's been spot on.<br/><br/>I've had the veggie sandwich on Turkish bread (loved it), the veggie burger (really good), a special of quinoa salad with kale and last week the healthy option breakfast. All have been great and the food is reasonably priced.<br/><br/>Great coffee, yummy smoothies and juices, pleasant service and there's outdoor seating on the pavement. A great spot for hot summer days, as at the times we've been there it's been shaded.

Metro Beans and Killer Coffee. Great beans with chorizo and poached eggs

Best breakfast and coffee I can remember buying.. We ate here twice last week while on a short break on the gold coast. I couldn't honestly find a bad thing to say about the experience. We loved it so much the first day that we came back the second day instead of exploring for another spot. <br/>Incredible service, everyone was friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. We received a polite greeting on arrival, great service during and a genuine thankyou as we left. <br/>Food came out pretty fast, and was AMAZING. Everything tasted fresh and of high quality. I cannot eat gluten so that was the reason we decided to try Metro. They had a gluten free option for most of their meals, unlike most places that have only one or two gf options, and I felt great after both visits which is something I can't say for some places that advertise gluten free options. Also the gluten free bread that they use is pretty good. <br/>I had eggs benedict and a meal that had avocado, fetta, tomato and spinach. I also tried my husbands mushroom breakfast and the flavour was unbelievable. <br/>Coffee was the best I can remember having out, it was an organic fairtrade one from Peru and was made perfectly. We had a few coffees because they were so good. <br/>Prices were very reasonable especially considering the quality of the food and coffee. <br/>I watched a lot of locals coming in to grab takeaway coffees and things while we were eating and the service was really quick too. I just wish we lived closer, we would be there all the time!

Perfect place - relaxing recharge, lovely look, beautiful breakfast, jazzy juice, charismatic coffee !!

It's such a breath of fresh air to walk into a cafe and be greeted warmly! ...Friendly service, responsiveness to requests and needs, courtesy and grace, accessibility of venue and parking, opening hours…they’re all important, but in the end we all want to leave a place happier than when we arrived. Simple, really!
