We made a booking by phone via the message bank and when we arrived they didn't have a booking for us (this is not a bad review, keep reading). This was Saturday night and they were booked out, but they still managed to have us seated and served within minutes. There were three of us and it was pouring with rain, so our original booking was to be seated outside. Thank goodness they lost our booking or we would have been drenched! No, no-one was sitting outside which must have made them accommodating us even more difficult. The staff were lovely and friendly, fabulous wait staff, fast and efficient service. The food though. Was to die for! I hadn't been there for at least 5 years, and wanted my daughters to experience it. The flavours and aromas were divine and we all enjoyed our food so much, I'm glad we shared the dishes we chose, and the food was so fresh and cooked to perfection. We avoided entrees as we were heading off to a function. We had basic choices, pad thai noodles, yellow chicken curry and prawn choo chee (forgive my spelling if it's wrong please), with some steamed rice, which was fluffy and light. My daughter also had the deep fried banana, with ice cream and cream and a sauce that I forgot to ask her about, which she said was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant, and we can't wait to visit there again when next we are on the Gold Coast. I only wish there was a Chiangmai Thai restaurant in Brisbane, in the northern suburbs! If you are even contemplating going to this restaurant, please make a reservation and try it for yourself, it will not disappoint! We went last night, and tonight I crave it again, though I am back home in Brisbane. Thank you so much to the wonderful front desk staff for fitting us in, we are truly grateful, it was a memorable meal and experience. Nothing was too much trouble and as I said, the flavours and aromas of the food was exquisite!
We went looking for a good Thai restaurant on the Gold Coast and Chiang Mai Thai didn’t disappoint. Every dish was delicious and left us wanting more. If you are on the Gold Coast I highly recommend going here. Oh and they get busy so maybe make a booking!
Couldn't have had a better night than Saturday at Chiangmai Tai, food was great and the staff were friendly and helpful. Had the best night
Cannot fault a single thing about this place, the food, the atmosphere, the decor, the pricing. Everything is spot on and definitely the best yellow curry I've ever had!! Keep up the great work 😊
Beautiful food and amazing service. Food came out quickly and the waitress couldn't have been nicer. We always eat here when we come up to the Gold Coast and recommend it highly.
The food was amazing. The service was just as great. Prices are a bit on the expensive side. But I don't mind as long as the food was great and wasn't just some slop served on a plate!
Fab food and excellent service even when they are busy the food still came out very quickly
Would highly recommend this restaurant and will be back

So much yum! Such great service! So full would definitely recommend.
Every time I am on the Gold Coast we go to the restaurant in Broadbeach. We love the atmosphere, the decor, the waitresses in tradional costume and of course the food. Generous helpings and good tasy food with a varied menu. We will keep coming back.
Absolutely amazing. Been to Thailand many times and I can say this place is the best Thai food I've ever had in australia. The pork larb was amazing
The food was beautiful, service awesome
Ambience of restaurant is amazing. It was so nice I had to go twice. Very happy to recommend Chiangmai Thai
The food at Chiangmai Thai is fantastic, the service is great and the location and parking facilities make it easily accessible even on a busy Saturday night.
Having spent a lot of time in SE Asia, I am particularly partial to restaurants that keep the flavours authentic or as close to authentic as can be. It is fresh, flavoursome and generous servings. Something for the whole family.
Staff are really attentive and make sure the dining experience is spot on. The furnishings, statues, carts etc create the perfect ambience for an authentic Thai meal in perfect surroundings. Congratulations Chiangmai..... 10/10 from me.
Loved everything we ate here, we ordered 4 mains, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. Every dish tasted incredible! Staff could be friendlier, no warmth or smiling from staff makes you feel unwelcome. Doors to outdoor area are open so lots of mosquitoes which makes dining uncomfortable
Visited last night for dinner and wow! Were we impressed for starters the ambience was one of a kind the chairs we sat on where massive elephant wood carvings and decoration so pretty at night. Staff super friendly even with a toddler and baby . The food was next level, couldn’t fault any of it. To start we had prawn Tom yum soup and perfect flavours with crunchy prawns ! My daughter ate all four satay chicken skewers so that has to be good sign! Garlic prawn and red curry chicken were both delicious too!! Even with all that greatness they have byo wine so I could have my favourite bottle of red if that’s not winning I don’t know what is ! Would highly recommend!!
I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. We were sitting inside with a group on 11 (booking) and we wanted to sit outside. They had no problem and set the table for us promptly.
Food was absolutely delicious. Best Thai food I've ever had. The staff were so lovely and gave great service.
Will be back again next time I'm in the Gold Coast.
Thank you :)
Possibly the best Thai I have ever had, we really enjoyed our dinner at Chiangmai Thai and would definitely return when we are on the coast!
Best Thai on the Gold Coast. Great atmosphere, good service, great food. A definite step up from other stock standard Thai, just a shame we live too far away we can’t get it take out!
Love the food, atmosphere and speed of which the food came out after ordering, they are always so busy and when we come to Gold Coast on holiday we always come here to celebrate s birthday or something!
Came here in 2010 and now in 2018. This place does not disappoint. Amazing service and ambience. Food is outstanding!
Great that you can BYO beer and wine as I’m pregnant so I was able to bring a couple of non-alcoholic beers. Will always come here when on holidays on the GC.
Our excellent experience of Chiangmai Thai started with the taxi driver raving about how popular it is with locals and the numerous prizes it has won! The restaurant in Broadbeach is replete with authentic (albeit kitsch in a good way) decor - think elephant chairs and opulent decorations on the walls. All this adds to the atmosphere and experience. Staff were all friendly, warm and hospitable. The menu had all the classics and the food was of a high quality. The only thing I could criticise is that all the fish dishes were “deep fried” (though I’m not complaining!). Generous portions, great flavours and reasonably priced. Overall an excellent Thai that draws locals and tourists alike!
When we moved from Melbourne to Gold Coast this was the very first restaurant we went too and we were so surprised with how great this restaurant is! The setting makes you feel like you are in Thailand and the service is fantastic. We've now been here a few times and the staff are always so accommodating to our needs. The only fault is that once i booked and booked the Surfers Paradise Restaurant instead of the Broadbeach one (however was using the number from Google). They still managed to squeeze us in. The food is great quality and this is our go too place when our friends and family come up from Melbourne! Great place!
Best meal I had on the Gold Coast. From the moment you walk in you wouldn’t know you were in Broadbeach.
Great staff, lovely seating and we had a terrific table.
I’m allergic to seafood so I made it clear nothing fishy and they were very easy to talk to and fully understood how bad it could be!
Spring rolls - were fabulous.
Pad se ew - best I’ve had and the chicken was so good!
Wine - was very well priced
Chicken sweet sour was incredible too. So fresh and tasty.
Definitely recommend this place. Delicious food that doesn’t cost $$$$$
We came here for dinner in a group and they accommodated us beautifully. Everyone was really happy with their meals which is quite an achievement when you have ten plus people at the table. I thoroughly enjoyed the traditional decor which create a real sense of authenticity and the fried ice cream for me rounded out the evening deliciously. I already have plans to visit their second branch later this weekend. When your on a good thing stick to it!
Delicious traditional Thai food, with excellent FAST service (our meals came out within 5 mins of ordering) and a beautiful restaurant. I think this is my favourite Thai food- and there are so many tasty options to choose from on the menu, so there is something for everyone.
Chiang Mai Thai is one of our staples when we come to the Gold Coast. They have an extensive menu with fresh tasty dishes. Pretty much everything we order is very good. The chicken satays and Pad Thai are both excellent.
Chiangmai Thai is a bustling restaurant with traditional Thai decor and an overall good vibe. The waiters were pleasant and the food arrived fairly quick. The menu and drinks list was very extensive with so many delicious options to choose from. We decided on the tom yum soup which was sensational, the Phad Thai was really tasty as was the seafood salad and coconut rice.
Amazing food.. verry good service. Impressed.
Ambiance is authentic thai. Food was great we loved moneybags, dim sim and spring roll for entree. For mains, Thai green curry, tofu lemongrass and pad Thai was great. Highly recommend. On top of great food, staff was very courteous and friendly.
Authentic and traditional Thai atmosphere. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Service was excellent and food was very delicious. Coconut prawns where huge. Portions are quite big as well.
On the way home & it's 8:30pm - let's dine out tonight. Thai is the choice and we have driven past many times and thought we must try this place. So tonight was the night.
Felt like we entered a restaurant in Thailand. Very friendly greeting and service by the staff. We ordered our meals and food delivery was really fast.
Great taste, good serving size. The only thing was our coconut rice was cold.
Minor issue, we were well looked after.
We can happily recommend this establishment.
Good food! Their Green curry chicken was creamy. Once you enter you feel like you're transported to Thailand. Service was so nice and uplifting. However, it was a little more expensive than zomato let on '$50 for two'. The rice cost $4 per bowl. We had to leave and go somewhere else to fill our appetites. But other than that, a good experience!
We ordered Red Curry - Thai Hot, Tom Yum Soups, Chicken Lemongrass, Spicy curry... A friend was visiting us, between all of us the quantity of food was quite good, we couldnt finish everything. So be mindful of what you order in case you're a group smaller than 3-4 people.
Was great that both curries were hot as requested. The Tom Yum soup was the best, right amount of chilli and lemon flavours to it, filled with Mushrooms and Bamboo Shoots (I think they are called bamboo shoots)
We left with a full tummy. The staff is very friendly. My dinner was a little dull due to some other customers who kept pointing in our direction and smirking off, but that's nothing against the restaurant itself. Will come back if I visit Gold Coast again :)
First thing you will notice about the restaurant is the interior. Owners obsession about elephants is someone else's face palm.
Food was above average. Catered for Aussie palate.
Turned up at 8pm on a Saturday night without reservations and were able to score a nice outside table. Extensive menu with lots to chose from and really nice Thai food that was not overly oily or sugary. Only a few points to mention. 1. We were not given the complimentary nibbles that everyone gets when they are seated, the tap water tasted like bleach and was lukewarm (newly seated tables beside us got both the snacks and cold water), took a little while to have our orders taken (both food and drinks were taken at the same time) BUT food came quickly once ordered. If you are not a big rice eater, only have 1 serve between 2 people and if you do order lots they let you take it home :) Will be back.
Loved this place! Very busy! Luckily we managed to reserve one of those very cute huts out front, definitely makes you feel like you're in Thailand. Food was amazing! Flavours were all very well balanced and authentic. Particularly loved the crispy quail, Thai sausages, green curry with coconut rice, and deep fried whole barramundi! Finished off our meal with a very decadent mango sticky rice. You could also BYO for a very small corkage fee. Friendly service and food came out super quick! Overall, very delicious meal. Love!
Awesome for a reasonably priced Thai meal. The menu has such a large variety to choose from so you're not limited. I recommend the coconut prawns, Thai fried rice, Mongolian beef and chicken with cashews. Delish! Another benefit was it was BYO without an unreasonable corkage fee. Score!
Also, the food it served super fast. Fantastic all around.
RECOMMEND THE COCONUT PRAWNS!!! 😍
Also the curry chicken, fried rice, chicken and cashews, Beef and black bean... ugh just incredible! And very cheap for byo per person unlike other places so you can enjoy some red wine or beers purchased prior to entering 🖒
Random thing to love but i secretly enjoy the fact that they have crackers on the table as soon as you arrive. BANG and there is sometning on the table (love it)
Service was SO QUICK. Came out instantly.
Decor is incredible. Back when we used to go to the surfers chiangmai thai we used to sit in the little huts (whatever they're called... elephant booths? Haha) because we were smaller and younger (was very cute)
Quality of the food was just as good as the surfers one. Left being ridiculously full!!
Incredible restaurant decor, great atmosphere and amazing customer service... Went for girls night out and got a few different dishes to share! Food was incredible, large portions and great value for money! Will definitely be returning!
Best Thai restaurant on the Gold Coast - hands down! We've been going here for years and years and the quality of the food has maintained a very high authentic standard. I've never tried anything that hasn't tasted great. The banquets are lovely for special ocassions, but make sure you're very hungry! Excellent service and incredibly beautiful decor that makes you feel like you're really in Thailand - check out the elephant shaped chairs on the left side of the indoor seating! Bonus: they're good with taking care of birthday cakes you bring from home.
Chiangmai is an eye catching restaurant at night, with a plethora of fairy lights covering its frontage and verandah with gorgeous Thai-style wooden pagodas and umbrellas. This is what caught our attention driving past, then we heard through word of mouth that the food was great.
We were seated outside which meant as the sun went down we could enjoy the lights and surroundings with wooden carvings and stone lions. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive - our water glasses were kept full and food came quickly.
We started with three entrees for two of us as we couldn't narrow it down! The moneybags had fresh crunchy fillings and were a winner for me. We also had the soft shell crab (perfect) and garlic and pepper quail (tender and fun to eat!).
For mains we had tamarind chicken, which was tasty with moist chicken, but maybe a tad stodgy; and roast duck, which was a lovely big portion.
Overall we enjoyed dinner. The food was pretty good, not the best Thai I've ever had but right up there. The service and ambiance are excellent however.
When you're on holidays and looking for somewhere to dine out but have no idea where a good place to go might be. Never fear Zamato community are too the rescue! I initially drove past this restaurant, looked good but can never be too sure. So what does one do? Check the review on Zamato ofcourse!
After some positive reviews, decided to give this place a go for dinner. Situated along a freeway, but it's not like a Sydney freeway. Easy to get in and out of the place and it was well worth visiting.
When you walk into the restaurant and you really do feel like you are in the northern part of Thailand. It's amazing. Furniture kind of dense though, but then again, it's the style. The most important thing is the food!
The food is simple yummy...
Ordered:
Entrée: calamari ($8.90)
vegetable fried rice ($16.90)
Ginger pork stir fry. ($21.90)
Was enough for the two of us. The food was fresh. Veges, crunchy, and the pork was just so tender.
Now I can see why at 6 pm, this place gets booked out fairly quickly and people just flood in. Lovely atmosphere and yummy food. I'll be coming back to (Chiangmai Thai) the next time on the Gold Coast.
Service was terrific, decor over the top and outstanding (dont be put off by this). Ordered one of the banquet menu for four people and was not dissapointed.the Tom Yum soup was nice and spicy not westernised.Serving size was good and we all left feeling rather full. great attention to details was the candle on the table went out and it was replaced with a fresh one.
Great service, & the food came out pretty fast, even though they were busy. This place knows what they are doing and they are doing it right. If you want to try some tasty Thai food this is the place to go. I am not a big fan of Thai food but they definetely convinced me.
We always visit chang mai thai when were on the gold coast and over the last 5 years it hasn't dissappointed. Service is good, food is good and they get their own beer made by a local brewery, which I really enjoyed. Accomodating of a nut allergy which can be hard in a thai restaurant.
We will be back again!
Great Thai food. And what sensational ambiance.
The mile long menu was a surprise, extremely attentive service from the traditionally costumed staff.
Food was better first time around. Staff was super friendly and drinks were nice. Great priced and happy vibes. Reception wasn't polite when we were leaving. The garden and artwork is pretty
Food and ambiance made it a fantastic night. Service was great albeit our food came a little too quick so if you're in for a long leisurely dinner you might want to order as you go. The spicy beef and lemongrass chicken were delicious.
Lovely Thai food. Had dinner here with friends last night and the place was very busy for a Monday night which is always a good sign. The food was delicious and the service very attentive. Highly recommend the Massaman Beef.
Great service, great food. Good price.
Decor interesting. Really impressed! Thanks. Had a great night
It was like stepping into another world as soon as we arrived we were very warmly greeted by staff. The opulence of this place is something to behold. If u did not know better u would swear u were in Thailand. The food was exquisite and so plentiful at very affordable prices. We will b going back to ear here again
Best Thai on Gold Coast.Aways frequent when on holidays .Food is delicious .Service prompt and efficient even in peak times .Ambience relaxed and magnificently decorated .Highly recommend .
So much food!. Had the banquet with my hubby and didn't finish half of it. Very nice food and service as well!
Cannot wait to have it again. We love our Thai, but we really enjoyed Chiangmai Thai; it is was the highlight of our holiday.
When eating Thai we always order the standard green curry with chicken, pad Thai, red curry with beef, roti and coconut rice (special mention for the rice; it was the best we have every had).
Do it !!. Such great service, i dont think our complimentary water glass was ever empty. Green curry spot on .. And we have had many.
Loved it. Service is spot on - they have it all under control.
Setting is gorgeous and food is delish!!
We loved it and would come back..
Walked in with my husband and three children without a booking for dinner. We were greeted warmly and seated in a cute little rickshaw/ booth type thing outside which was perfect as it was a beautiful night. The kids loved it and felt very "fancy". Food and service was fantastic, prompt, delicious and friendly. Next time we visit the Gold Coast we will definitely be back.
Mix of really kind staff and really rude staff, don't expect them to get your order right, to be honest if their food wasn't so good I'd be telling people to avoid it. Chiangmai Thai please hire people who understand English, or is it too convienent the mistake always works to the expensive option?
Location is beautiful
Price is expensive
Service is well below average, too inconsistent (which explains why so many really positive & negative reviews.
Ticks all boxes .Excellent service .Food is authentic and ingredients fresh .The portions are excellent size .The atmosphere is Traditional Thai decor .Well done Changmai Thai you can deliver!
Contrary to some other reviews we found the service to be great. The staff were friendly and the food came fast. The food was nice and reasonable for the price. If you are after a decent meal for a good price then Chiangmai is the place for you. Would recommend the satay skewers and spring rolls.
Great layout and style. Food prompt and very tasty.
Green chicken curry had the right bite.
Fantastic place! The food was great, we waited 5 mins for entrees and maybe another 5 after entrees for mains. Super fast! And most of all customer service was exceptional!
Steve’sfoodadventure’s
+4.5
The service was great A+ the food came out very fast and was delicious even tho the classic Thai herbs were missing and the tables were bit small but great scenery and setting good size serves also all in all I'd visit again
Simply amazing. Got dinner here simply because it was close to were I was staying. It looked a bit busy so I decided to try immediately I noticed the number of awards they have won! I was impressed!
The service was good, the prices really reasonable for the serving sizes and the green curry is the best I have tried outside of Thailand! A definite must!!
We ordered the $31 banquet for two people and there was sososo much food. Excellent value and the food was well cooked. The only dish that lacked some flavour was the 'chicken with cashew nuts' But with some extra chilli ordered, it livened up the dish. Would certainly recommend thus restaurant. 8/10
Very tasty.... Delicious Thai restaurant right around the corner from where my friend and I were staying in Broadbeach. The green chicken curry was very tasty but the highlight for me was the pork larb - fresh and tangy with just the right amount of chilli to really give it a punch. Sticky mango rice desert was also yummy but I am an absolute sucker for Asian deserts! $60 for two people - entree mains, rice, desert and a couple of glasses of wine. Very reasonable and good service to match.
Good food but bit overcrowded restaurant and no good beer. Overall a decent experience. The decor is very tacky, bit like Thailand meets vegas but its also half the appeal. The statues made from giant bits of wood that must be old growth rainforest are disgusting though.
Nice Décor. Price-5, Services-8, Food-8, Atmosphere-9
Expensive but food was good
Fantastic meal, we had Sweet & Sour Pork and Massaman Beef Curry. Service a little slow but place was full. Highly recommended would happily come back again.
