Review Cucina Vivo - Broadbeach

Missy Robinson
For my regular catch up dinner date with a girlfriend, she gave me options to try one of the venues at the casino and I opted for Cucina Vivo. It was a Wednesday night so not super busy. The venue itself is absolutely massive and beautifully styled. We were escorted to our table by a friendly server who took our drinks. The first lot of drink orders was incorrect receiving a champagne instead of a Prosecco. The Cosmopolitan however was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed their mix. Four entree we ordered a half dozen oysters Kilpatrick, pizza and the meatballs. The oysters were a bit bland in flavour and more expensive than most, And the meatballs were absolutely overflowing in sauce however they were quite flavoursome. The rigatoni was fresh hot tasty and delicious I absolutely loved it. My friend ordered the veal, however she did not enjoy it and was unable to eat much. The chocolate dessert was tasty although the dish was very difficult to eat we weren’t given any bowls or plates to eat out of. My friend also ordered an affogato and the coffee was burnt. When the bill was brought out to us we were offered a 10% discount for our dissatisfaction even though we advised staff immediately, this made us more dissatisfied, however after some polite discussion, some items were removed from the bill. Sadly, it was a very average dining experience overall.

Outstanding service and such friendly and professional staff. The food was out of this world and there was a great selection of amazing drinks to choose from. We will definitely be going back to Cucina Vivo next time we are at The Star.

The service was very poor and the food was average at best, pizzas was definitely not was the 25 dollars that was paid for. The waiting time was long for the mains but the entree was faster. When we first arrive at the reception, the lady at the front was very nonchalant and didn’t seem welcoming at all as we were expecting exceptional hospitality for the fact that it is a fine dining restaurant. Yet the experience was very poor even from the very start. After the meals when we were going to pay for the bill, the waiter have snatched the card from my hand and was rather cold as he said a simple thank you and swiftly left the table without making any eye contact or thanking gestures. I did considered the fact that the restaurant might be busy at the time, but this type of service is quite unprofessional and unacceptable from the staff when we simply wanted to enjoy our time out and especially as we paid a fair amount for the food as well as the service. I do still want to reiterate that it was only two particular staff that we ran into that was quite unprofessional in their standards of service but the rest of the staff were quite friendly and hospitable. Thank you for reading and we hope that this can be taken into consideration in the next time the restaurant conducts a staff appraisal. Have a nice day.

Meal was great!! Everything came at once and the mains tasted really amazing. Also appreciated the cannoli - it's really good portion wise as well. Ps. Get the star membership to keep costs down ;)

The lamb rack was exquisite and super tender and definitely a memorable dish but with a $49 price tag if paying the full price. Fortunately we had the benefit of significant member and restaurant discounts. I also had a slice or two of the pizza topped with prosciutto which had a nice thin crispy base. A very tasty rocket salad was ordered to share. We also sampled the mixed dessert platter which was enjoyable. Service was excellent with enthusiastic staff. A wonderful dining experience overall and I would recommend for that special occasion as noted by the number of tables celebrating birthdays.

Flavorful and delicious Italian. The salads, especially the panzanella was fresh and tasty. The veal marsala was on point, the carbonara needed some fresh cracked pepper which wasn't offered and should've been so I had to ask, but otherwise very good and creamy. Arancini was crisp, melty and great as were the pizzas. The dessert however was just ok, tiramisu was disappointing and bland. Service was friendly. We'll be back for more, but might skip dessert.
Kim
Wonderful food, service, choice and atmosphere.Happy with all we ordered, maybe the two down falls being the carbonara had a touch too much fat around the bacon and it wasn't crispy or tasty!! The tortellini was a touch basic, small serving maybe underwhelming compared to what we all had , which consisted of a spaghetti marinara and veal scallopini all brill..I would say i love Al Dente but the spaghetti could have been a touch more cooked..but very minor!!The Focaccia I'd def recommend!!It was a bit busy and clearly there were new staff training/learning so a few things got muddled up but it didn't affect the food!!All in all a lovely meal and very satisfying, will def return.

A beautiful restaurant, love the aesthetic! Wait staff were super friendly and very helpful when we had questions about particular items. I ordered the gnocchi, food came quickly and was absolutely delicious. Definitely will come back to try more from their menu.
Sonya
Very nice Italian restaurant at the star. We had a very nice table on the balcony during the sun set. The food was very good although the wait time was extremely long as well as the waiters giving us the wrong order to begin with. Overall the food was quite worth it, I ordered the beef Bolognese.

For the price the experience was terrible. I had the fichi pizza and lucky I decided at the last minute to add some burrata because the pizza itself was terrible. It was tasteless and had 3 pieces of fig on it. That's not even an entire fig?! And the prosciutto was just as sparse. The mozzarella was dry and for the price and the reviews I honestly expected better. The pizza base itself was perfect - not oily and truly authentic but as for the toppings they were just the worst. My cousin's capriocossa was no better and the diavola was hardly spicy. Omg and don't get me started on the parmiagiana del melazane.. it was honestly revolting. It was dry and had no sauce. Again where's the mozzarella?? I know I should have complained then and there but when every meal came out comparably as bad it wasn't worth the fight just the decision never to return. Sorry guys it's time to change chefs or lose more than just little ol' me.

Entrees were quite tasty but the mains were slightly disappointing. Staff were helpful and friendly. However, being such a large restaurant it made it difficult to have a good atmosphere. We were expecting more in the experience for the price they were charging.

I had dinner at Cucina Vivo with my partner and mother in-law while staying at The Star casino and were very happy with our meals. We ordered the Pappardelle Funghi, Fettuccine Carbonara and the<br/>Calzone Napolitano, all were delicious but our pick of the meals was the calzone. Meal sizes weren’t over the top large but definitely enough to see you full. Staff were wonderful and very attentive.
Renee
Always beautiful food every time we come here! The menu isn’t always the same but I had the gnocchi with braised duck and the dark chocolate semi freddo this time. Lovely atmosphere and a staff. A must when visiting Broadbeach.

Probably one of the best meals I had ina while. Service was one of the bestand I had no idea it was a no gratuityrestaurant, which I never heard of inAmerica, but I still wanted to tipanyways.
Beau
Restaurant came highly recommended but fell well short of expectations. The oysters were nice. My pizza didn’t come with any buffalo mozzarella as the menu said and the base and crust had nothing to get excited about. My partner had the pasta and it was over cooked and dry. Service was very slow as well. Considering the price tag on the restaurant you’d expect a much higher level of experience.

Congratulations Cucina Vivo, great service and great quality food and drinks<br/><br/>Your team of staff are genuine and caring and made to feel welcome <br/><br/>Everyone’s meal was great including the children’s meal. Not skimpy either, and good selections of wines, beers, cocktails etc<br/><br/>Well done guys, keep up the fantastic team , yours is a good journey

We headed to Cucina Vivo for a casual Saturday night dinner after a day at the Gold Coast races. It was super packed but we got a table very easily. Meals came out quickly and we had a few delicious cocktails while we were waiting. We had the Caprese to start, which I believe may have come out on a pizza bread base. For mains we had the Kingfish and the Pork cutlet, both were tasty but nothing to knock your socks off. <br/><br/>Our tip * this place seems great for big groups and parties. There were a lot of big groups when we were there and they were all very happy and seemed content with their meals coming out at the same time etc. Would return for snacks and pizza.

Lovely food and excellent service.<br/>The feel of the place was more casual and informal than I had imagined, being a key restaurant within the casino complex.<br/>I have the veal scallopini, which was excellent.<br/>He had the pork cutlet, which was spectacular &, cooked to perfection. Funnily, his dish was short on vegetables, but mine had plenty to share.<br/>His came with amazing little bites of potato gnocchi or similar, which were just fabulous, again enough for me to share.<br/>Our garlic pizza we had for entree was delicious too.<br/>Would have given it a 5 but there was just something intangible about the atmosphere which underwhelmed me.
Jessica N
Good service and feel in the restaurant. Food was good, not life changing, but good. The D.O.C cocktail was one of the best cocktails I’ve had, so long as you like lemon! Would recommend.
Sara
Always great service, great ambience, and definitely one of the best places for Italian on the coast! We come quite often and have never been unsatisfied with the experience.

Service top quality, lovely ambiance in restaurant good variety on menu loved our pasta dishes and dessert will be back again recommend too friends
Terrrance Fung
Good Italian food generous serving, classic dishes, customer service was good and décor fantastic. Definitely would go again and the veal was amazing

Great food and friendly staff. They should open on Mondays and also for lunch. Service is also good. Prices are a bit expensive for the size (e.g pizza size) but if you like real Italian pizza, calzone, or pasta you should try this place.
Darren Ooi
Service is top quality with friendly waiters and staffs. Definately would recommend ordering the selection of Pizza, the dough is made to perfection
Ashley Irvine
Really awesome atmosphere and the service was attentive without being annoying. <br/><br/>Food was great although portions of the lamb cutlets were not overly generous. Pricing was higher end but the quality and flavour of the food was definitely on point. <br/><br/>The chocolate Ferrari dessert was great - just big and rich enough to share between two. <br/><br/>Bookings are a must.

Easily the best Italian I have had for sometime. Brilliantly presented & using the best produce available to the chef. The rack of Lamb was just terrific as was the Maltagliati pasta. Polished off with their Cioccolato Rosso Ferrari Dolci. It is an standout combination of pistachio crostata with stracciatella ice-cream, Ferrari red chocolate sphere topped with a grappa infused chocolate sauce poured at your table. There is also a Nutella chocolate pizza with soft mascarpone clouds, caramelised banana and roasted strawberries.<br/>Hard to fault any part of the evening. <br/>Great service & value - excellent.<br/>#facxual_events

Best fking Italian on the coast. This place beats the balls out of gemellis or marios. Awesome wood fire pizza, love the carbonara. You'll need a reservation cause it takes hours to get a seat cause it's so damn good.

Long weekend visit to the Gold Coast and decided to stay at Jupiters, had a few friends recommend Vivo for their pizza so made a booking 3 weeks advance. They were really great with this and so I was very looking forward to the dining experience. <br/><br/>The ambience of the restruarant was lovely, upon walking in youre greeted with a large woodfire oven. Already automatically setting high pizza expectations. Basically however the food was extremely dissapointing. <br/><br/>We ordered the antipasto platter for our starter and the caccia pizza. Firstly they were both delivered at the same time... not what we had expected at all. Whilst they looked good, upon second glance we realised there was only 1 type of cheese and 3 tiny baby slices of provolone on this board? Plus a heap of marinated vegetables, whilst the variety was good the source of some was highly questionable and some seemed to have come out of a jar or straight out of the fridge (talking about the tomatoes so horrible biting into them and finding them cold and below room temperature)... <br/><br/>Now onto the main issue. Our pizza had a nice woodfire crust on the outside ONLY. So the toppings all seem to barely have been cooked in an oven at all and the whole middle of the pizza was soggy and literally left tomato juice all over the plate... My dissapointment was real. I'm not a woodfire oven expert but surely this can't happen??? To have an almost charred crust but all wet inside. The photos speak for themselves.<br/><br/>Not a memorable experience at least not for the right reasons. Whilst the restruarant looks lovely the food definitely needs A LOT of work.

Sorry is a bit late but better now then never. Last time we went on the gold coast for holiday we try Cucina Vivo at the Jupiter Casino. We didn't have at booking but they accomodate us really well out side the restaurant.Service was really good lots of knowledge. Food wise was just amazing the calamari nice and tender risotto really nice but the homemade tortellini was the best nice flavours best pasta so far.

Been to Cucina's many times and usually have been overwhelmed with service and quality of cuisine, however tonight was a disappointment. Seemed like we got the 'b' team chef tonight. Had guests from Sydney and they were underwhelmed. Pizza was runny... salmon over cooked and carrots... were they over cooked, frozen or prepared incorrectly... not sure. It was my son's b'day and ordinarily they do something special but.... nothing. Not sure if I will go back.

Simply yum! Service was great drinks were lovely and the food was divine. Highly recommend the pasta, probably the best pasta I have had. Family friendly too. Great atmosphere!

A beautifully designed Italian themed restaurant. The waitor, waitress and chefs there are always super friendly. One of my favourite places to dine (fine dining wise), they cater for birthdays and the food at the restaurant is presented beautifully 100% each time. Portions are fair and tastes are always exquisite!

I didn't have much expectations for a restaurant in a casino but I was blown away ... evening started on a good note with a friendly host ... ordered tagliolini marinara which came with fresh and succulent prawns fish and mussels ... found pasta portion a tad small and ordered dessert ... Flavours of Italy is highly recommended as it comprises of 5 mini famous Italian desserts which ended the evening on a lovely perfectly

One and a half years after our visit from melbourne , I can still rate Vivo as one of the best authentic Italian food on the Gold Coast and comparable With, Melbourne's best Italian restaurants . Service , was flawless , ambiance, comfortable , romantic and still fresh . Food was so tasty .. Highly recommend this place

I have never been to Italy but if the food there is better than Cucina Vivo, I may cry. Tears of joy ofcourse. All I can say is WOW!! This amazing restaurant hidden in Jupiter's Casino is a must try. The service was faultless - the waiters were so attentive and very knowledgeable. They really know the menu. My partner and I both ordered the speghetti alla amatriciana and the cheesy garlic parmasaen bread which was an off the menu dish recommended by our waiter. The bread was made in the wood fire oven and was beautiful. So light and so yummy! I could have eaten this alone. The pasta... sweet baby cheeses... it was incredible. I don't know how the chef managed to pack so much flavor in such a simple pasta dish. It was fresh, saucy, the pancetta crispy and the pasta cooked to perfection. My only regret? Not having enough room for dessert - they too looked delightful. Next time I visit the Gold Coast, you will be my first stop Cucina Vivo. Thank you for an amazing night in Italy.

Fantastic food and table service, pity about the bad attitude of the young lady on the front desk who believes she is doing everyone a favour by being there...

We went to Cucina Vivo midweek a couple of weeks ago for dinner. When we arrived around six we weren't sure what restaurant to eat at but this restaurant was pretty empty and looked nice. We went to book a table and the next available was around nine so we waited until nine and went back to the restaurant. When we went back at nine the man at the counter talking to other diners told them the restaurant won some award so they've been busy lately. <br/><br/>When you first walk into the restaurant there's a large coffee machine and a big circular bar surrounding an open pizza oven. There's an array of tables inside and outside on the balcony. Our group of five were seated at a booth right next to the kitchen though but it wasn't too noisy during the meal. <br/><br/>Our waitress was nice and attentive. I ordered a Margherita pizza and it was very basic but overflowing with tomatoes and easy to finish the whole thing. The others I dined with enjoyed their pizzas but our friend that ordered a pesto pasta didn't enjoy it. After our meal I ordered a hot chocolate and got complimentary cookies. I was interested in their desserts so if we're at the casino we might eat here again.

Best restaurant! Amazing food, modern looking and nice atmosphere. Had probably the best service ever from the waiter (his name was Ernest i think?) We all really enjoyed our meals and the dessert but the highlight was the fantastic service. also was easy to book online. Will be back for sure. Prices are very reasonable to considering the high standard of the dishes! Bravo!

Went here last night for dinner and it was incredible. Entrees, mains and desserts were all fantastic, fresh and so delicious. Couldn't fault a single thing, including the service. Favourites were the salt and pepper calamari and beef ragout fettuccini.
Marie Lopdell
A beautiful location with pizza oven burning away in the centre of the restaurant, lovely attentive waiter and a great looking menu. Unfortunately the experience was let down by the food itself, which left a lot to be desired. A real shame as the rest of the experience was so nice
Monique Alexandra Maclean
My partner and I are from the heart of Melbourne and love our food so maybe that is why we found the food at Cucina average at best the pasta was undercooked and the duck mismatched but the staff are lovely. <br/><br/>If you are looking for fine dining this is not...
Abby Thompson
Great little Italian spot on the Gold Coast. I thoroughly enjoyed the carbonara! The steak was cooked perfectly and the lamb flavorful. It's great that they also have seasonal specials. Would definitely go back again.
Ellie Jane
Had an amazing time here! Despite all the amazing choices I went with my typical favourite: Spaghetti Carbonara and needless to say I was far from disappointed. This was honestly the best carbonara I have ever had and despite its small size it was actually very filling. My boyfriend had the Ciccia pizza which he also thoroughly enjoyed. For dessert we had the Cioccolato Rosso Farrari which was visually amazing! This dessert is very rich in dark chocolate. The decor was very contemporary and beautiful and the waitress serving us was lovely as well. 10/10 experience!

I have been to too many restaurants locally and internationally on my travels. This place is exceptional for everything. My absolute favourite now. Best Italian food matched with the most amazing staff and exceptional service. It's a credit to the management to have an experience not a just dinner and at very reasonable pricing. Sensational.

As a visitor to the Gold Coast, this place was fancier than I had expected. But the food is really nice and they catered well to our young coeliac kids. Good gluten-free choices and staff knowledge of allergies was impressive. We were so happy with our meal that we went back again later on during our stay. Be prepared to pay a good price though.
Fat Food Guru
Really great addition to the casino. We got. A Balcony seat overlooking the pool area. It was very nice. The service was spectacular and the environment was an excellent place for a date, anniversary or special dinner. We said it was our anniversary and after mains they bought out their signature chocolate dessert with happy anniversary on it. Complimentary!! Now that's service. Overall pizza was good. We haven't tried the pasta but next time we will. Prices are fair for what it is. Semi fine dining.

Went there for dinner tonight fantastic service and amazing food.<br/>Calamari fritti was nice and tender risotto was good but the tortelloni was just the best.<br/>Well done
Sophie
The first time I went here was fantastic, however the second time during the week I was very disappointed. The antipasto was soggy and I am positive the pasta had MSG in it. Not a good experience.
I Ate My Way Through
I have many fond memories of the Gold Coast but admittedly, they were always of the endless dreamy blue skies, the vast stretches of beaches, and the exhilaration of the theme parks. It was never really a viable sophisticated short break destination – that is, until now. The GC has been evolving and with Jupiter’s $345 million dollar renovations underway, I was invited to see exactly what everyone was talking about.

Perfect! Hard to fault.

Great Italian!. Tried this place on the weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Food was great, staff we fun and friendly. Pizza's are amazing!
Brisbane Devoured
Cioccolato Rosso Ferrari was both impressive, magical and enormously rich. On the bottom is a disc of pistachio crostata topped with a dome of stracciatella icecream that was encased in a Ferrari red chocolate sphere. The waiter (very slowly whilst I took a photo) doused the sphere with a warmed grappa infused chocolate sauce. The result? The sauce encased the dome as well and became almost like “Ice Magic”, firming up at the touch of the icy dome. I cracked it all open to reveal the icecream within. It was immensely rich of course, and I couldn’t help but wonder if that may have been eased with an anglaise or white chocolate sauce instead of the dark chocolate.

We had a great experience at Cucina Vivo. Lovely friendly service, delicious Italian menu with a great variety of options. Well priced and very efficient. Nice find at the Casino.

Freakin awesome!!. Had such a great dining experience. If you wanna just eat without having a bit of fun and entertainment, forget this place!<br/><br/>eating here is more than just dinner. Its an experience. The waiters have interesting backgrounds from all across the world and are very open in sharing their stories. <br/>besides, they take part in every event, such as CNY they bring in lion dancers every day for a week which is great! <br/><br/>And of course the food. Beautiful quality, taste and decoration! Definitely a place to try if youre up for an experience! plus its really affordable! Def a must try!

How do you make a weekend to the beach even more relaxing than it already is? One way to do it is to evoke the idea of another beach at the same time. This may sound like coastal overload, but oddly it works. A coast to coast experience is exactly what you get at Cucina Vivo, a brand new restaurant on the Gold Coast that recreates the experience of Italy’s Amalfi Coast. The result is that all you can think about are long walks on the beach followed by even more long walks on the beach. But can Cucina Vivo’s food carry you over to Italian shores? Let’s find out. Cucina Vivo is located at Jupiter’s Casino which is currently undergoing more of an extreme makeover than a reality TV show. The restaurant is the first outdoor dining venue here, overlooking the newly revamped pool. Nothing says Italian seaside like a soft blue and peach colour scheme and designer furnishings. And nothing says Italy itself like a two metre long wood-fired pizza oven, which takes pride of place in the middle of the restaurant. Cucina Vivo has very thoughtfully crafted a space that transforms you to the Southern Italian shores, which is no mean feat when you're actually on the southern shore of Broadbeach. Cucina Vivo's drinks menu offers a pretty good start to a taste of Italy. Each cocktail option had a bit of Summer about it, and the wine list did well in offering a mix of Italian and Australian drops. Below we had: Cinquanta-Cinquanta: Aperol, Campari, Fresh Peach Puree One More Thyme: Tanquaray Gin, Green Chartreuse, Lavender and Thyme Sugar Syrup 2013 Renato Corino Barbera Each of the cocktails were subtle, and very thoughtfully blended. There was only a hint of peach puree to lift the Cinquanta-Cinquanta, rather than the drink being unnecessarily blasted with fruit. The lavender and thyme sugar syrup in the One More Thyme added a nice savoury taste, and made you instantly think of being in a European garden. The 2013 Renato Corino Barbera was earthy and slightly funky tasting. Barbera

...I was fortunate enough to be invited to one of @eatbrisbane's Instameets for food bloggers at Cucina Vivo located at Jupiters Casino, Gold Coast. I was quite excited as I've never been to event like this before and it was amazing to meet new people who shared the same interest in food as me!

Arriving at Jupiters first ever outdoor dining venue, it was the genuine hospitality of the Cucina Vivo staff that stood out most. Everyone we dealt from the moment we walked in, had a sincere friendliness about them that made you feel at ease and very welcome.

Awesomeness!!!. What a meal!! Went for dinner last night, the home made pasta is to die for and nothing is of any hassle for the service staff. Great ambience in the restaurant too. Well done to the management.

The passion shows! There’s attention to detail, smiling faces and genuine interest in customers. Italian bonhomie flows out into the restaurant mingling with the aromas of delicious cuisine.
