From the time we walk through the doors of room 81 we were utterly spoilt. There were four of us doing the 9 course degustation menu and we loved it, each dish was presented beautifully and tasted as good as it looked! The highlights were the steak with horseradish cream and the lemon lime and bitters dessert. The staff were absolutely lovely, and explained each delicious dish. The night was made even more special with personalised birthday wishes for our two celebrating their birthdays.
Staff are lovely, accomodating & the service was perfect. We had the 7 course degustation, one vegetarian & every dish was impeccable. Highly recommend.
Went above and beyond on service and food. Not enough stars in this review. Amazing service, amazing food, amazing everything. Will be coming back when I come to the Gold Coast again from Melbourne. Will be telling everyone in Melbourne to come here.

Adt nights 12 course dinner was amazing! I hardly ate today I was still full! Everything was delicious and staff very friendly and helpful. Very nice night. And well done to chef for that menu 🙌🏻
Thoroughly impressed by your fine establishment. I ordered a gastronomy journey (Degustation Menu) - Your service was impeccable, staff understood every element on the plate and introduced pairing wines. Each dish had incredible and intricate detailing. All food was cooked to perfection! All in all, a wonderful evening. I highly recommend Room81.

We had the 5 course degustation meal with family and friends and it was an exceptional experience. We were pleasantly full and the ambience and staff were what helped make this an amazing experience. The food was fresh and bursting with flavour. For a special occasion , brilliant and highly recommended.
Great atmosphere as ambience. Friendly and attentive staff. Would definitely come back - great for catch up with friends - they have a separate area for patrons that just want a few drinks and very spacious dining area so even though the restaurant was pretty full, it didn’t feel that way.
My husband and I enjoyed a 7 course degustation at Room81. Every dish was delicious- you could appreciate the flavours of every element served on the plate. My husband chose to get the wine menu that matched the degustation menu and thought they were matched perfectly. The service was friendly but formal without being too pretentious. We had a wonderful night here and look forward to visiting again.
The thoroughly modern landscape of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ is populated by pistachio praline rocks, green pistachio sponge hills, three magic toadstools, a tower of elderflower marshmallow and rhubarb, clouds of bubble gum ice cream buttoned by fresh blueberries and strawberries. Such a strange fanciful beauty is almost too good to eat… almost! I’m beside myself with excitement! Next birthday I think I’ll just go to the Sofitel for cocktails and dessert. Give me a teaspoon and I’ll show you have to navigate the magical world of Lewis Carroll’s imagination, or how to burst the Valrhona chocolate bubble!
It was the first restaurant that I had Soufflé for my dessert. Then I start to pay attention on dessert menu of any restaurant. Love the signature " Pork in three ways" but the ambient doesn't make me comfortable at all. It was too dark and not spacious enough for me to enjoy my dinner with privacy.

Strongly Recommended. Awesome service, food was great, loved the entree, main and desert. Must try their signature dishes as they are well worth the lil time you have to wait for them. Atmosphere was also very warm and comfortable. Would definitely return.
Love the food. My husband and I love this place. Sad to see some of the reviews here as we have always had a wonderful experience. We eat here about once a month and have always been very impressed with the creative presentation and flavour of the food. Service has seemed to deteriorate some what from when we first starting going there about 2 years ago. We don't recognise any faces of late however it is the Gold Coast and its hard to keep good staff with such a transient population! Overall we love the food but would recommend investing in some long term wait staff!
Was nervous about food as I think the experimental twist on cooking techniques can be taken too far. However I was most pleasantly surprised as I tucked into some very good flavor combinations. The barramundi was beautiful. The entree signature dish of snow crab was made all the more better with the delicious cauliflower puree. My husband & I shared the dessert tasting plate (so much food) & it was wonderful to taste all the different sweet treats. The coffee mousse was the best. Highly recommend this restaurant. We thought our meal was better than what we had at Fellini (& we love Fellini).

Exceeded Expectations. For a hotel restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised. Both the regular degustation menu and its vegetarian counterpart were a level above what we expected at a Broadbeach hotel.
Had degustation menu as part of a conference function. All dishes were beautifully plated. Dishes included prawn with dumpling, belly pork, wagyu beef, duck foie gras, oyster as amese bouche, and a citrus palate cleanser, which I loved. Every dish was interesting, flavours well matched and tasted great. Almost feel like having it again tonight
The food at Room81 was absolutely divine! I was left wanting more! The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant was trendy and really set the mood for a good night out. The presentation of the food was excellent as was the taste.
Just reopen on 23/5. This Sofitel’s restaurant is spectacular for their service and food. Friendly, helpful, caring, professional and very polite staffs, food was beautifully served and delicious, we also got some surprise for our anniversary. I strongly recommend the scallop and barramundi. The restaurant didn’t charge us the parking fee. This is a must-try restaurant in Surfer Paradise Gold Coast
Had an amazing experience at Room81 yesterday. We went there for our wedding anniversary and the staff went above and beyond to make it super special. They provide us with a surprise complementary wine and dessert platter to celebrate. The food was out of this world - highly recommend for both food and excellent service.
Very pretty plating. The taste was slightly bland for my liking though, but nothing a little table salt couldn't fix.
We have been staying in Sofitel for a week. This has been a great experience. I dined there last night. The food was exquisite. Staff were extremely helpful and make great recommendations. The chef personally checked all the tables and talked to the guests. Very good value too. We are going back tonight with our friends from Gold Coast.
We had the 12 course degustation (2 for 1 in Tuesday nights). Quite a few good courses. The strangest was the crocodile fat (bone marrow) - far too strong for anyone's liking & it left a strange after taste - (someone likened it to eating petroleum jelly coated in white chocolate). None of our party of 6 ate finished that course - but some. People might actually like it. I quite enjoyed the scallops Ceviche, the Crab mini pie, the snail crackers, lamb & eggplant, loved the dessert - pistachio ice cream.
Beautiful food as always, Andras was very helpful and with a great personality. Loved the new menu, very different from what we are used to that is the degustation menu but definitely loved the originality. We mention we were celebrating our anniversary and you added a very nice touch to the end of the night with that beautiful plate with chocolates for us. Thank you for such a great service and great food. Congratulations on the new menu. Andras definitely created a peak moment here!
We only stopped by the bar but the service and dessert samplers were very good. As part of a small tour, one of our group was asked to help prepare the line up of their specialty drinks. Very elegant but warm place to pop into.
