My wife & i had a really great lunch yesterday. The food was fresh & tasty. Terrific yum cha & excellent choices on the menu. The pricing is well affordable. The service was great too with a smile. We will be going back again. Thanks Geoff

I came here on a late Saturday night. The atmosphere here is quite casual and also relaxed. The service was very good. Staff here were very attentive and I never felt like I had to wait for service. We had prawns and some squid with salt and pepper, they were very close to being perfectly cooked and seasoned. For desert I had fried ice cream. It was probably one of the best fried ice cream I've ever had. The very light maple syrup was a nice touch.

From the moment we arrived everything was impeccable....we were welcomed & taken to our table, prompt delivery of drinks and our order taken in no time. Our meal was excellent, exceptional value for money. If only you were in our home town of Keilor, we would be eating there almost daily.

Overall I would've given a 4.5 (only because i thought one meal was too sweet for my taste - but that's just me). I came in with a voucher for a 9 course meal - the meal was pleasant to the tastbuds and filling. Staff was polite and alert as to what customers wanted. If you are looking for a place to eat, I would recommend this place! It's a great resturant :) Excellent staff.

The best Yum Cha I have had on the GC. David the manager was very attentive and unlike the other Yum Cha they have a small selection going around which is constantly kept fresh and more you can order to make sure the quality is great! Other places have cold or reheated food going around - this place does not!! The best!! Can't wait to go back.

The WORST food I have ever had, ordered 3 take out dishes and ALL of them were so bad, stewed meat, 4 pieces of pineapple in sweet and sour pork. Think hard people before you go! Also the only place that doesn't put veggies in their stir frys.

Had a wonderful experience. The male host was awesome - taught me how to use chop sticks. Had a Group On Voucher for 9 Course Banquet meal for 2 - tasty dishes.

My family loves Chinese .. we looked at the reviews for Sky restaurant and thought we would give it a go... definitely did not disappoint... we have a 13 and 11 yr old and they absolutely loved it ... meals came fast and the service was fantastic...tasty, fresh, clean and inviting... thank you Sky restaurant for a fabulous evening will definitely be back...

The place seems to serving some fresh seafood, however the whole menu half was out of stock, witch was a bit disappointed, the food with order was not bad, however it was quite overpriced price, the food we ordered do not feel like it worth almost 200 for two people.

We have been to this restaurant many times and the food was beautiful. However, at our most recent visit the food was ok at best, and to be fair, basic is probably the best description. The staff were indifferent, to the point of rude. We were made to feel completely unwelcome and there is no way we would return. There are too many Asian restaurants to deal with such substandard service. Avoid this place if you can!

I ordered the dish with less sauce but didn’t work. I had to drain the sauce to suit my taste. I hope the staff listened to the customers ‘ requests.

We have dined in and got take away at Sky Broadbeach. Nice Chinese food. Tender meat dishes with lots of lovely vegetables. We enjoyed our meals again yesterday at Sky.

I must say the Peking duck I had here with my son was good;). I would not say it was in the Quanjude league, however very good. Would want to go back one more time to confirm quality

The only positive aspect of this restaurant are the staff.
To start off with, the price of the food versus the quantity given is outrageous. For example, I've been to hundreds of chinese/asian restaurants and they charge nearly double the amount of rice for half the cost.
The next aspect is the quality of food, because quality not quantity right?
It was terrible. Ordering salt and pepper squid, our group loathed to eat it as the salt content on each dish made it unedible.
All other dishes were low quality and all in all, extremely disappointed us. If I visit the Gold Coast ever again, I will never visit this restaurant and I hope many of you don't either.

Enjoyed yum cha for a casual week day lunch. They offer a great variety of dishes and all our selections were fresh and delicious. We liked that we picked dishes from a menu rather than them being brought around in cart. All our dishes arrived quickly and the service was friendly.

Poor example of Chinese restaurant. Forget the Yum Cha! (Chinese lunch) & probably the a la carte offerings.
This place attempts to fool you that they serve the real thing -- but they don't.
Very poor selection & variety.
Very "average" preparation & cooking of a limited range.Unlike proper Yum Cha there are hardly any trolleys wheeled around at all!
Really hate the overall arrogance of the Manager who is typically "Hong Kong" & knows it all!
These people really don't like "whites" & appear to serve their "oriental" clients a different & better grade of food.
They seem to specialise in set menu lunches for bus loads of chinese tourists who seem to get preference in service & quality.
Though born in China & being quite experienced in the authentic food I am not chinese but do have quite a developed taste for good chinese food.
This place is to be avoided unless you are easily pleased, far better offerings in longer established places in Broadbeach & Southport

Disappointing. Nothing good at all. Way too expensive than what it is.

It is very disappointed tast and services. It is very noisy because of Chinese tourists. Price is high.
Not recommended.

Disappointing. Went there because of good recent reviews - but they were for Yum Cha. Dinner is definitely a different story.

We waited 45mins for food, it then all came in a rush after we asked what was happening. Seafood nest was missing advertised ingredients (cashews et al), Salt & pepper spare ribs were cold, honey chicken had a weird chemical smell and taste.

Overall was not cheap and food was very average. Staff were very apologetic, but it is what it is.

Wont be going back.

Like he said - Better than Ming's. After a glowingly disappointing Yum Cha lunch at Ming Palace last weekend, I decided I needed to quell my dissatisfaction by trying a new place for lunch this weekend.

Don't get me wrong, Ming's has been around for a long time and I have had a few good dumplings there; however, it has become tired and drab and I felt like they were taking the mickey with the “food” that they were serving there.

In stark contrast, Sky Broadbeach, in my opinion, is fresh, modern and elegant. The décor is newer, the layout is thoughtful and the overall dining experience was far more enjoyable. I particularly liked that they have furnished the place with better (especially compared to most other Chinese restaurants) furniture.

Service: excellent. The staff were attentive, polite, helpful, friendly, and not in your face; all the things that we have grown accustomed to not having at Chinese restaurants.

Today we had:
- Seein jook gooen (bean curd skin rolls with a pork and wood ear filling). Served warm, clean flavour, not greasy
- Har gaow. Served hot, excellent texture, whole prawn, clean taste, pastry a little on the thick side; overall was quite good (especially compared to other har gaow that I have had of late)
- Char siew cheong fun (BBQ pork wrapped in rice noodle). Served cool, pastry could have been 'slipperier' and finer: just ok.
- Deep fried prawn wonton. Served piping hot! Same texture as the har gaow filling, pastry was crispy. This one was surprisingly good!
- Siew mai. Served hot, springy firm texture, clean taste. Again, quite a strong execution.
- Yuuk yuen (beef balls). Served hot, mild tasting, no corriander (everybody else puts way too much or uses too much mandarin peel in their recipe), smooth texture.
- Spring rolls. Served piping hot, could have had more filling, had a slight burnt flavour (??), filling was more of a pork paste (although this worked for me), pastry could have been half as thick.

Verdict: excellent value for money - $40 filled us up really well; and, we had an excellent time! They earned bonus points for making most of our dishes to order and satisfying several order variations. We'll be back.

Better than Ming's. Best Yumcha on the Coast. The food was fresh, the restaurant is clean and the prices are reasonable.
They do all the staple Dim Sums very well, but their Century Egg Congee deviated from traditional recipes.
Normally I shy away from getting Roast Duck & Roast Belly Pork from YumCha establishments, but I had my cravings on this particular day and it their generous servings certainly sated my appetite.

Like its famous eponym, Sky Lounge in Hong Kong, Sky Broadbeach is a great place to have something to eat while you watch the view, in this case the passing parade...Sky brings us Australian Chinese favourites, specialty regional dishes, as well as the daily yum cha experience. It’s a real treat to see thousand year old dishes such as “The Monk Jumps Over the Wall” on the menu, a signature dish of one of the eight main cuisines of China.
