Review Madison's Cafe - Broadbeach

Bella Xena
Another establishment victim to being understaffed. Came here for breakfast. You order at the counter and then take a number to your chosen table. Yes, it would be good if staff could come across friendlier, but I guess they’re under the pump. The pastries were delicious and full. The toasted banana bread was a little burnt. Orange juice is not freshly squeezed.

Thank you for our lovely visits during our recent holiday. My son adores this cafe and now calls it "his spot", refusing to go anywhere else. We (the five year old) did a gingerbread decorating class prior to Christmas and had a great time. The whole experience was lots of fun and the gingerbread travelled interstate for Christmas lunch where it was extremely well received. We'll be back when we are in town again. Thanks!

We visited on a busy Saturday but were served really quickly and found a nice table outside (there's a lot more seating than you'd expect). Staff were friendly enough although not super warm - maybe because it was the lunch rush. The food was delicious though, and other than the avocado tasting a bit old, couldn't complain. Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Value for money: 💰💰💰💰/5 Customer service: ❤️❤️❤️❤️/5 Atmosphere: 😍😍😍😍/5 Will visit again: ✅
Gold Coast Quality Review - B Barton
Definitely an iconic venue on the coast. Food is very nice and the presentation is beautiful on some items. Coffee is up to par. Service is timely but at times not overly welcoming (depends on the day). I have noticed a relatively high staff turnover during my many years of visiting, but the product still remains exemplary.

Brilliant bacon and scrambled eggs. Madison's Scrambled Eggs was delicious. Good coffee and pretty quick service on a busy Sunday morning. Friendly staff too

I come to this cafe at least twice a week with my partner. We go there as the coffee and food is great! However the service is extremely poor!!! This starts with the person taking the orders! They are extremely rude and have no people skills whatsoever!!! The waiting staff are absolutely run off there feet and have no idea what they are doing!!! It’s obviously all about turnover for the owner as the constant line out the door obstructs people walking past and by not having permanent table numbers confuses the hell out of the waiting staff! How about you go back to good old fashion customer service!

Simon Says Delicious! Shared the Madison Scrambled Eggs with dept of war & finance. Great value. Empty Plate Score 10

Came here for breakfast one morning and was very disappointed. First when ordering the guy behind the counter was rude and obnoxious. Whilst waiting for our food we were asked several times by staff if we could move to another table which we couldn't as we had our 4 month old. When our food finally came our eggs were still half raw and my partner's breakfast was not what was described in the menu. We requested to speak with the manager who we found out was also the guy who served us at the start however he was not willing to come over. The female staff that were working were wonderful.

Not sure why the reviews are so bad considering this place is always so busy. I’ve only gotten takeaway cakes and biscuits here but they are so good! The muffins are always so big, moist and delicious. The double chocolate biscuits and lamingtons are also great.

Service was a bit slow but the Cannoli are to die for, the coffee is pretty good as well. Will be back as I have been many times before. Great location as well.

A disappointing visit to Madisons today. Service was very slow; the Almond Croissant was very dry and stiff; (certainly NOT todays bake); the teapot was without a knob on the lid (there was a steel screw in its place; and just generally the restaurant did not meet expectations. I had to ask a staff member to clean my table. It is a jaded venue. An older, male waiter looked consistently bored and as if he could not muster half a smile, even if he tried. Slow service is the result of under-staffing and/or poor management. Madisons, you definitely need to lift your game.

The waitress who took our order was very helpful with my dairy allergy. She took additional measures to ensure I had a dairy free meal. I really appreciate their kindness!

Horrible service at the counter, then waited ages for my pie to be heated, only to find out it was just sitting on the back bench going cold. It was then handed to me with a lame excuse and no apologies. Similar occurrence when ordering an apple danish.

If you want a good almond croissant then this is the place to go. Onsite chefs using good quality ingredients. The croissant was light and buttery. The mango smoothie was really good too. Went back and had a fruit tart which was pretty good too. Staff are friendly and quick.
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
I can here on a few occasions the food is always tasty.

My gf had the big breakfast. She said it tasted amazing.

I had the French toast it was so light and flurry. Not heavy like I have experienced in other places! The scrambled eggs with spinach and feta was amazing so tasty but a little watery and buttery

Good coffee shop and semi fast food experience. The environment is fine and the menu is quite ranging. It is an ok place for a quick coffee or light bite to eat.

Came for some moring tea (coffee). I had a coffee and cheese bacon roll. Throughly enjoyed both. Staff were freindly and service prompt. The place was doing a great trade, so was expecting a slow service as I only looked up the rating after puting in the order.
Was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the coffee and food (hot and tasty).

Slightly disappointed with my experience, having heard a lot from local friends I gave this place a go. Took ages to get served and also took a book of yummy looking cakes and slices away. They were slightly dry, didn't appear to be fresh from that day but I'd probably give them another go when I come back to QLD.

Amazing!!
We frequented this cafe many times during our 2 nights at the Gold Coast. Fantastic coffees, delicious pastries and the most amazing carrot cake I've ever had! Highly recommend.

Great place for a quick coffee/cafe meal.

The cafe is bright and clean. Very friendly staff and quick service.

Large variety of cakes/sweets.

Great location facing carousel. Order at counter type of place. Nice salad and impressive club sandwich. Coffee was mediocre- but I'm from Melb. Tad slow at bringing out food. Some guests finished lunch before others received theirs. Plenty of seats
Crisspy Bacon
Absolutely wonderful service & they are well priced. I only had an iced coffee but it was delicious!! I will come back for breakfast for sure.

Details: I liked the coffee tbh and location is obviously awesome and the almond biscuit from the image was alright
... but um service is terrible.... not a fan. They didn't even know we ordered (and paid for) biscuits before we asked

Don't waste your money here. Ordered mango meringue cake and the cream had gone off. Never again, milkshakes very ordinary, coffee just average.
Paul Dharmaratne
Steak sandwich was average and a bit tasteless however Egg Benedict was excellent. Coffee bitter probably burnt. Quite expensive @ $43.50. Service was very good.
Secret Squirrel
One of the worst coffees I've had, ever. Food average. It's the location that draws you in but keep walking and find another cafe. Staff smile a little and hygiene please.

Stopped here for a coffee a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon. Middle aged lady serving us was extremely rude. Will never go back.
Byron's Vanilla Slice Blog
Rating: 6/10In one word: Mis-soldThis slice is advertised as "Custard Mille-feuile" but I question whether its filling is actually custard or cream. Firstly the thing is huge, and at $5.90 the price seems fair given its size. The presentation is very appealing with a tri-layer offering and nicely presented rippled fondant icing. Cutting and eating the slice was enjoyable and the crunch of the pastry with a knife was a good sign, however the initial tasting of the "custard" left me questioning whether it was just very bland, airy custard or in fact unsweetened whipped cream. This is like-for-like the same presentation and proportions as the French Vanilla slice at the French Baguette in Footscray, but at $4 and far superior flavours the French Baguette will always win.

Will never go there again!!!. Ordered tea with soy milk, when the staff member only filled the little jar 1/4 way I questioned it and asked if I can have more, was basically told "if you don't like it then go". Cancelled order got a refund and when asked to speak to the manger, was told that he was the manager. I told him that he was rude for ever speaking to customers like that.
Will never go back there ever!! I'm not on my holidays to be spoken to by such rude and arrogant people.

Pancakes..never again. My son, his friend and myself went for our normal swim at Kurrawa this morning and decided we wanted pancakes for breakfast. Our first thought was the Kurrawa Surf Lifesavers as we have had traditional pancakes there in the past and they had been great. Not so today as they are no longer on the menu. So we decided to look further afield at the Oasis Shopping Centre. We normally go to the Baby Grand Lounge but decided to give somewhere else a go. I had heard the hype about Madisons Cafe and they had pancakes on their menu so we decided to give it a try. $57.90 for 3 pancakes and 3 coffees I suppose is about normal these days. The coffee was extremely bitter, but then I am not a great coffee lover. The adding of a bit more hot milk at least made it drinkable, The pancakes arrived and looked quite inviting, however the more I ate the less impressed I was. Why can't these places just stick with the tried and tested. Maple syrup, bacon and perhaps a banana on the side. These pancakes were served with "frozen" mushy berries and some type of "stuff" on the top (the name eludes me but the texture is between butter or cream and is very rich) which made it all very dry. I would have asked if they had maple syrup, but as they do not have table service for coffee sales there were people lined up at the counter making it was too difficult to try and get someone's attention. To add to it all there was a child screaming it's head off at the next table (This of course is not under the cafe's control). The three of us agreed it was not the best experience.

Diana. Loved the cake selection here I tried the chocolate mouse was delicious, coffee just passable though

Hot chocolate with no froth? Just water & chocolate. No wonder they were advertising for a barista...

Stick to the cakes. We have been to Madison's many times before for coffee and cake and have always enjoyed the cakes. So today we chose it as our breakfast destination and unfortunately we were disappointed.
The positive was the kids single stack pancake with syrup and ice cream. It was one giant fluffy pancake with ice cream served on the side in a bowl. Too big for our kids to finish.
We both ordered the French toast with grilled banana, syrup and bacon. Neither of us is a fan of grilled banana so we asked if it could be replaced with strawberries. We were told (quite abruptly) that it wasn't possible. So we ordered one of them without the banana. The meals arrived promptly and shockingly one had strawberries! I was not happy as I was now stuck with grilled banana. Not sure what is going on in that kitchen. The bacon was crispy and the bread thick and generous but there was a distinct lack of "frenchness" to the toast. Seemed to have been cooked in very little egg mixture considering the thickness of the bread. More like toast drowned in maple syrup.
The coffee was quite ordinary.
I think we will stick with the cakes or pastries next time.

Not good. I ordered poached eggs on toast and got a hard boiled egg alongside cold toast with a soggy hole in the middle.. Yum. The cakes look fantastic but aren't nearly as good as they look. To top it off a bunch of staff who just don't care and lack customer service skills.
Lauren
Service lacking. Breakfast food was good. My eggs benedict with bacon was perfect and Mum's mushroom dish was nice enough although the flat buttons lacked flavour. The letdown at Madison's is their service, or lack thereof! The cafe has counter service but I stood there waiting to be served for sometime while a staff member swanned around looking bored on the floor - I presume she had nothing to do! This cafe has potential, maybe just needs new management?
Lulu
Coffee is ok, cakes look impressive but don't taste that great. Service has always been indifferent bordering on rude and today was no exception. Overpriced for the quality & experience. Won't be coming back.
Melza
Ok where do I start coffee finished my client has even finished her toasted Turkish & I'm still waiting. Very long wait when your time is restricted, not good when your taking clients out ;(

They'll probably delete this review as well but we were lucky not to have our holiday destroyed as they serves up half cooked chicken. Chips that were likely to have been there all day and a club sandwich that defied logic.

Anyway read this while it stays up online before they censor reviews to help you believe the propaganda. 47% doesn't lie!!
Triful07
Had dinner there last Wednesday night for the first time in a long time. The chicken salad was delicious. Can't give the same review though to the customer service we received from an older guy. Was quite abrupt & refused to smile when dealing with us. Good customer service is hard to find these days.

Nothing flash, but good clean food and worth a drop in if wanting something inside for the day ahead. Service was good for a busy Sunday morning, but didn't like having to carry my coffee
Louise
Sweet Obsession. Very impressive array of cakes. We shared an enormous lamingtons and a very decadent orange torte. Yum!

Bad food. Was luke warm and tasteless. Very disappointed

Madison's Cafe provided slow but adequate service - and the meals were lovely. Overall a very pleasant visit while on holiday. 6.5/10

Service acceptable, food pretty generic, average coffee, good location on a sunny morning

Broadbeach cafe favourite. I've been here regularly for just over a year, usually for lunch or afternoon tea. have always loved it. the club sandwich is awesome. service is ordinary, just order and pay at the counter but i've always received good food.
Hara..whatever
Love it! Considering how crazy busy they are, the food always comes out super fast. My absolute favourite is the corn bread for brunch! Delicious. I don't drink coffee so I can't comment on that, but hot chocs are yummmm!
Jules
Jules. Yummy cakes, the orange almond is delish

Jackie. Lovely cakes and excellent service. would go back

My husband & I just wanted a salad sandwich & coffee for lunch. When asked if they put butter in the sandwich we got a loud "no" & they wouldn't put any butter on it. The most they would offer was to bring the sandwich with a plate of butter on the side! How hard can it be, unless the sandwiches aren't fresh. Lousy service, we walked out & had a lovely sandwich at the Shingle Inn nearby.
Andy
Breakfast very ordinary & staff attitude & service very bad. Place won't last with plenty of competitors to choose from

A-mazing Easter Breakfast at Madisons Cafe. Great Service and delicious foodie treats is what makes our favourite Cafe the Best in Broadbeach .
My Family and I enjoyed an incredible Breakfast on Easter Sunday and even when it was busy - no request was too hard . The staff were extremely helpful and our meals were delicious.
Must make a quick mention that the Coffee was perfect and it was a Bonus for my partner and I to be able to select a wide variety of Easter inspired cakes to take-away with us as we headed to our next destination to visit Friends . Although I would have loved to have taken the credit for making these incredible cake delights. I let the work of the talented Team take all the credit . The variety of mini cakes with an Easter theme was refreshing to see and not only did they look fun and they tasted out of this world . Thank-You to the team at Madisons for making our Easter Morning so special. Meeting with the girls for a catch - up on Friday and looking forward to a Madisons Coffee!
Huge Fan!

-----10 Nov, 2011-----

Madisons Cafe's Yummy Treats. Madisons Cafe is so popular and has been high up on my Cafe list for many years. I must admit with the past few months being very busy,it left little time for me to have coffee with the Girls. Last week it was time for Coffee, Cake and all things yummy. Madisons didn't disappoint. We had such a great time. The service was great and the staff were very helpful with organizing a great table, that gave us the room to chat and keep our little ones happy as well. Madisons never let's us down and we have already planned our next coffee catch-up. I ate too much cake, but I couldn't resist the Apple Crumble and Choc MudCake. Lunch, Coffee and Cakes were very well priced and we all had a really fun time. So many cafes come and go, but Madisons is still as fabulous as ever. Well worth a visit!

Cold, cold, cold. This review will begin like most reviews.

Two chirpy people deciding to leisurely kick back and enjoy the start to a beautiful morning with a hot coffee and a chat in a cafe.

Upon arriving to The Oasis, me and my Mum's eyes darted around for the sign of the first coffee place. I'd never had coffee in The Oasis before, so I wasn't quite sure what to reccomend.

The first place we saw was Madison's. Like many people have said, their food and cakes were luring for customers. So naturally, we were drawn in.

It was fairly busy, but I managed to find us a table while she ordered. The table looked wiped clean but still grubby. The 'sofa style' bench chair's faux-leather fabric was crumbling underneath my thighs.

When the drinks arrived, they were lukewarm. We drank them up in a couple of minutes.

Isn't a cafe experience meant to be prolonged by nursing a piping hot beverage?

I told her I'd take them back, but she said no. Then went on to say how rude the staff were, trying to rush her order and not offering spoons or sugar or any extras.

We left dissatisfied.

And no, it shouldn't be the customer's responsibility to go all the way up to the counter and express their dissatisfaction.

Appalling. One of the most overpriced, revolting meals I have experienced anywhere in Australia.

Pancakes soggy with factory pears and unloving presentation. Meals not to order, service awful. Environment dirty. Fail.

Great place to catch up. Staff great. Food great. Coffee ordinary. Would still recommend a visit though

Service is below average, staff lacks organisation. Cakes/slices are ok but there are better places to treat your sweet tooth.

Great coffee. My husband and I, restaurant owners ourselves of Storace's Pizzeria & Restaurant, live close by the area and drop in regularly for coffee. Great coffee, good service with smiles, but the one bad thing is that sweets cabinet, terrible tease.

Lorrindah Storace :-)

Well just reading this review I think I had the same waitress this morning- super rude to people and actually started moaning how bad her morning was.... No customer service at all and probably damaging the business with negativity!!! That said although it's expensive the coffee is very good!! We ate breakfast there too and the pancakes and eggs Benedict were very good though pricey!!! Tip from buy a Danish from the bakery round the corner and take the take away coffee to the beach :)

There is a good choice of breakfasts available and open sandwiches and salads for lunch with the same and more substantial meals available at dinner, such as pizzas, stir fry dishes and pastas. But for us, it’s all about the cake – the tantalising array of choices which is too irresistible to walk past!

It's a glorious Sunday morning, so what better way to start the day than with a good hearty breakfast. This time my galpal and I decided to go to Madisons in Broadbeach, situated at one of the entrances to the Oasis building. I am not a big coffee drinker these days but do enjoy the odd decaf mocha, pictured below. A decent sized mug and a good balance of chocolate and coffee, I think a good mocha should be sweet enough so that you don't have to add much sugar. This one was perfect! My favourite breakfast dish has to be French toast and they get it just right at Madisons. The toast itself was not too sweet and cooked perfectly so it's slightly crispy on the edges but soft in the middle. The banana was also lightly fried and the bacon (4 rashers) was served crispy, just as I had requested. I always prefer my maple syrup on the side too as I don't like everything drenched in it and this way I can control my syrup intake. The combination of sweet and savoury is amazing and I finished the

Staying at Broadbeach has an advantage that heaps of café and restaurants are just within walking distance. After we checked out at Meriton Apartment we wandered around the Broadbeach Mall looking for a nice breakfast spot. At the entrance of Oasis Shoppi
