Review Saffron Indian Gourmet - Broadbeach

Nakeeb Ah
Let me start with positive - food was great as always. Quality of food here never disappointed me so far. Let me justify why I am scoring 2. People go to restaurants for the experience - experience of good food and more importantly experience of service. Service is where it fell short significantly. Not blaming the staff but this is an oversight by owner for putting 2 brand new staff on floor on their first day and that also on Friday night. They we’re clueless. I raised my hand few times to make order and girl comes in saying let me look for note pad then she was just walking around attending to empty tables picking up towels (no kidding). Finally guy came in to take order and he didn’t even ask what spicy level we wanted, I had to go back to counter to rectify. Then we asked for some cutleries from the girl and same thing happened again, walking around the room doing nothing really instead of getting us the spoon. Orders came out and rice was missing, never got served. When I went to pay, the guys was still going to charge me for rice. Told him you forgot to serve rice and he didn’t even bother to apologise. Poor experience. My parents came over from UK and I took them here raving this place is better than UK indian food, while food lived it’s standard, service was a let down.

Always the best restaurant to dine in. We were there after 5 years and enjoyed the ambience and food a lot. Thanks!

This cozy restaurant has left the very best impressions! Hospitable hosts, scrumptious dishes, lovely presentation and fantastic dessert. I like to recommend to everybody!

Poor quality food, less quantity and too late to serve (around 1 hour waiting for just a butter chicken and roti. Don't know if they were growing chicken from egg to make the curry. LOL). Severely disappointed. When asked when the food will be served, the waitresses had lame excuses. Never ever will go again.

The atmosphere of this place is nice, had some live relaxing music playing which gave it a nice vibe. The food itself was nice, but nothing phenomenal especially for the premium prices. The service was very average, when asking for recommendations from the waitress she said she does not eat this food. The food did come out quickly especially for a larger group.

It was a busy Saturday night in Broadbeach, we were fortunate to get a table at Saffron. It was a wonderful experience. We ordered samosas for starters, but were told they’d run out. Due to our expressions of disappointment, our server asked the chef to make us a fresh batch. That was so accommodating and was appreciated by our table. Well worth the wait. The curries were also delicious. There were lots of ‘oohs’ and ‘yum’ between the 4 of us. I highly recommend this restaurant, would definitely go back there if I return to GC. (We are from Adelaide, SA). The staff were friendly and very accommodating. Our one complaint, the wine was overpriced, in our opinion. But, we took it on the chin, and enjoyed our evening anyway. Thanks Saffron. 😊

Amazing service food. We wanted to know how they got their coconut rice is so fluffy and light. The barramundi with eggplant curry it’s made with the freshest of herbs and spices and amazing - the staff catered to our dietary with utmost attention to detail. Highly recommend this place - price and meal size fair and good

Just visiting the gold coast and tried this restaurant, very bad food taste , food smells very old dal makhni, not good chana , bad naan, bad service, send salad at last when we almost finished the food , Overall not worth deal if you are looking for good food.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal food was great. It was lovely to sit in a authentic indian decor, indian music and staff who were all lovely and obliging
Jaanan Murton
Was not a good experience at all. Meals were very over priced, service was horrible. This is the first indian restaurant that ive heard of that doesnt include rice with curry. The rice was expensive for the amount you get, ver small bowl. I couldve bought a whole bag of rice for that price. Over all very dissapointing and staff eed to be retrained and better organisation. I will not return, big rip off.

Great atmosphere and staff were very good! The food was absolutely delicious and the cheese and naan bread was just to die for! We will definitely be back!!! A+++++

We are very lucky to have such a fine dine Indian cuisine in Gold Coast. We are searching for it in our five days Stay and finally got it. Food was so tasty, delicious and served with a Indian gesture. Staff was so nice to feel homely. Ambiance is amazing. We fully enjoyed. Indian will really enjoy and realise it to have such a wonderful food away from their home country India.

The food is awesome and the restaurant is a nice place to Dine-in

The service and food was excellent. Plus they didn't try to get rid of us when they were closing, they let us finish our drinks and didn't rush us.
Kanwaljit Singh
Food is reasonably Good. It's a fine dining restaurant with good service. Though with limited menu.

Arrived at 6:30 pm. Orders were taken and drinks were brought out in 10 minutes. Starters took 45 minutes and after 2 hours we left along with several other groups. The kitchen was flat out making takeaway and Uber eats orders yet the restaurant patrons were forgotten about. I believe the restaurant is too big for the kitchen.<br/><br/>I paid for what I had and it came to $55 for a small starter and 2 cocktails. Very expensive. <br/><br/>I have been here before many times and the food is good but I refuse to wait 2 hours for nothing.<br/><br/>Most disappointing part was going back to our unit for 2 minute noodles due to the time.<br/><br/>2 thumbs down and I will never return.

Atmosphere was great but even better the young waitress working Sunday night just happened to make it even better. She provided excellent service, she was very happy and welcoming. Wish I remembered her name.... Thank you for being so nice and providing quality service. The food was amazing and I would highly recommend the butter chicken and lamb madras.

Manager treatment was very bad. We felt embarrassed in front of our guests. They served us cold food and got all the food in one go. <br/>We told them specifically that it is a birthday party but no one bothered. <br/>We ordered them around 9 pm on phone and reached the venue around 9 20pm. Restaurant closes at 10pm so we’re much before time. The treatment and service given was pathetic. We felt like they want us to go back and they do not want to serve us.<br/>I must say Saffron is an amazing restaurant with one of the best food in town. Please have a professional manager or else you will lose the charm of this wonderful place.<br/>Food is majestic.. <br/>This feedback is only for management. I would always recommend this place to everyone but I do not want such treatment given to anyone else again.<br/>There is a better way to say no if you do not want to serve ..... something is wrong and Chef and team must know about it
HR Food
Try the best Indian food in Gold Coast with the food like Kadai Paneer rumali Roti chicken tikka Malai Paneer Tikka mutton rogan josh and many more
Good Food Good Mood
We chose Saffron for dinner on our anniversary because of a butter chicken craving. A curry isn’t the fanciest of meals for a celebration but this one certainly marketed itself as being on the fine dining end. At $7.10 per naan and $24 for butter chicken I was frankly astounded that the toilet has to be accessed across the road via a code.<br/><br/>The service was a bit clunky but the food couldn’t really be faulted (other than the lack of garlic in my exorbitantly prices garlic naan). The tandoori fish entree was also excellent, deliciously marinated and super succulent. We also had some traditional live music which added to the atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out
The Quiet Critic
We had the prawn masala from here. Must say, it was Devine, extremely well done. The samosa was also delightful. Only thing that I'll pick at is the rice portion size, a little too small.<br/>We will return.
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
It was a Friday night I called into see if they where busy they said no. Because if they where packed I was just going to get take away and eat back in my hotel because I was solo!!!<br/><br/>I arrived at the restaurant it was Friday night there was only 4 tables full so pretty quiet. The waiter asked where I would like to sit which was nice.<br/><br/>She gave me the menus then placed the napkin on my lap. I asked her if they did Dahl and palak Paneer . She said yes we do both. I said I’ll have them and one small rice. She asked me how spicy I said medium. <br/><br/>While I was waiting for my food I was looking around and taking the feel of the restaurant. It’s very nicely decorated and it would be amazing for a date or party. <br/><br/>The Curry’s came out. I tried the palak paneer first. It was amazing the cheese inside was soft and fresh the spinach sauce was full of flavour.<br/><br/>I then tried the Dahl and it was just as good it was a mix of beans and lentils. The was nice but I loved the palak planner.<br/><br/>I called the male waiter over because I was full and wanted to get the rest take away. I asked what desserts did they have. He recommended kulfi. It is pistachio ice cream. How ever it was made up of what I think is condense milk so I loved it. <br/><br/><br/>I recommend the restaurant, and I can’t wait to go back to try some other curries.
Foodie In The House
We visited Broadbeach a few years ago and enjoyed a wonderful meal here. It was very pleasing to find that the excellent standard of food had been maintained. Enjoyable.
Rithika Krishna
Absolutely loved the food. One of the best Indian foods served in gold coast. The quality was up to the mark. Plenty of options for vegetarians. Personal favourites are batata bhaji and beans poriyal.
Gaurav Garg

Serena Sakhrani
By far the best Indian food ever !! Their chef is passionate about good food and it clearly reflects in the food he cooks. Delicious food . Highly recommended!

Great food very unique modern decor.....certainly not like stereotypical Indian restaurant... Great service. Yes very pricey eyes but they work hard for it

Decor and atmosphere is fantastic. Service is Fine Live music a nice touch. Quite expensive but the Restaurant atmosphere justifies that. Food is good without being spectacular. Would go again!

Our dinner was utterly disappointing; hence highly NOT recommended. Our dishes were kadai paneer, dhal makhani, prawn masala accompanied with garlic and butter naan. None of these curries had any flavour, too salty even. The naan was doughy and soggy. <br/><br/>I would say it is overpriced too.
Sanjay Kumar
On a business trip with colleagues, we explored this restaurant and liked the food here. The starter, main course and the dessert did bring out the true Indian flavour, the special mention has to go to the kulfi. Surprised to notice a local playing instrumental version of "Vaishnav Jan.."

Saffron is without doubt the most elegant and luxurious Indian restaurant on the Gold Coast. Its position in Broadbeach is situated directly opposite Pacific Fair and the Broadbeach South light rail station within easy reach of Jupiter’s Casino, the Convention Centre and major hotels. Sridhar Penumechu opened Saffron in 2005 in a bid to take the ‘best bits’ from traditional Indian food and create something new, modern and exciting. On our first visit for lunch, we head for the separate ‘gourmet’ section of the menu containing such dishes as Chicken Softa (a chicken breast stuffed with pistachio and cottage cheese) and Lazeez Champan, tender grilled lamb cutlets rubbed with ginger and ground peppercorns. This dish is served with saffron rice, salad and garlic naan – absolutely delicious! A winner!

It's not often I walk out of a restaurant. After waiting for ages to get a menu and trying to get the attention of wait staff repeatedly in this VERY quiet almost empty restaurant we finally left without even having our drinks order taken.<br/><br/>I had gotten the waiters attention twice and he went on polishing glasses and looking down his nose at us. Also, this is not a casual dining restaurant. They are trying to be an up market Indian restaurant.<br/><br/>Entrees are $16, Mains are $25, Garlic naan $7.50, Coconut rice $16. A bit of service might be a good idea.<br/><br/>Do yourself a favour and avoid.

Being an Indian, and growing up with Indian food, I am an expert when it comes to this. This place is way overpriced for average Indian food. The food is not bad but it's not great either. My advice is to drive to Rosalie in Brisbane and try Halims. He's my boy and makes the best Indian food there is, and he's got good chili chicken. Saffron does not have chili chicken and I think they need to take a trip to India to check out what's new and popular in Indian food like Halims. They should be worried if Halims ever opens in GC cause this place would go down.<br/><br/>As today is Indias independence I would like to end by say inquilab zindabaad!!!!

Such a wonderful meal. Delicious, well cooked food with prompt, happy service. Saffron Indian never fails to impress. Best samosas I've ever had.
Dilbaggill786
Poor service. I had a really bad time today at saffron. The service was really slow. They took 30 min to bring entrees and than took another 40 min to bring the mains.
Jass_khahra
Worst food and worst service ever. I had the worst experience of my life. Had ordered a dosa and they did not bring it and later said the order got slipped. The dal makhni was stale and was really sour to taste. The girl who was serving had a rude attitude and did not talk properly. Her name was Navraj. Really dissapointed and would never go there again and would tell others never to eat there. Just two words for them. Worst worst

Best Indian on the coast. You get what you pay for and its definately worth every bit. Thank you Saffron, excellent staff and excellent gourmet food. Our sons 21st was awesome so thank you so much for the awesome experience!
Nical1979
Good but not great. Nice place, staff were good, nothing wrong with the curries we had, but just seemed to be lacking something to give them that WOW factor. Would go again

Best Indian we've had on the Gold Coast. Both as takeaway & dining in. We've always had great meals from Saffron. Slightly more expensive but worth it. Highly recommend.
Amit.k.sethi
Not bad. We were in Gold Coast last week ,, we had a takeaway ,, the main curry kadai paneer was very nice but the tandoori chicken was raw with heaps of garlic , naan breads were really burnt,,,, we were happy to taste the curry at least we got one thing tasty,, <br/>Plz work on this Saffron u will get more n more customers ,,
R10011972
Disappointment. Ordered a take away the curry was supposed to be med turned out hot ! Half the curry was immersed in oil and less meat ! Nan was burned from the back ! Overall a rip off ! Don't go there !!!

Delicious indian in a nice restaurant. The food at saffron is great and unlike a lot of indian restaurants the atmosphere of the restaurant is great. Have been back many times and never disappoints
Janec
Disappointing. Curries were ok, some better than others, but I have definitely had better. Overpriced for what we got. Staff were friendly.
Cj
Great ambience. Have been a few times now, not many Indian restaurants have classy ambience and music so it excels here plus the food was great. A plus being it is a BYO wine restaurant and they were quite happy to decant a lovely wine for us. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We ordered Biryani and the rice was not properly cooked, and the food served had no resemblance to Biryani in taste. The Roomali roti was very poor and was not similar to roomali roti in texture or taste, and it was worse than a normal roti. Not authentic Indian food and very pricey!
Dineshraniga
Worst Indian in Australia, overpriced. We ordred a chat dish takeaway. It was several days old and straight from the fridge. I would not even feed it to my dog. The management refuse to come to the phone, just wouldnt give a stuff.
Prnz
Worst indian restaurant on the Gold Coast. We have visited the restaurants on few occasions and found the food to be cold and ridiculously desg

Just a few words from an indian. Best food, non of the pre cooked stuff of normal indian restaurants, a bit pricey but totally moneys worth, had a bite of the south indian dosa and was the vest i have had since leaving india 5 yrs back, very good service and the live indian music was the cherry on the cake, i highly recommend it to any one with good a taste for indian food and service

Beautiful ambience we went on a Tuesday night so nice and quiet and romantic ! Really nice people . I got the spinach lamb curry looks grose as in green and spinachy but BEAUTIFUL then my partner got the salmon tomato curry absolutely amazing ! Good value you pay a bit but worth it
The Green Pineapple
Mood & Vibes. Loved the layout and ambiance of this restaurant. The colours were themed and a pleasant change.<br/>Staff were friendly and attentive. <br/>Total of meal for two people was $127.80 which included a tandoori chicken entree to share THEN butter chicken, rogan josh, rice, naan for the main. There were also some drinks for the price but no dessert. Biggest downfall was the 20% surcharge due to it being a public holiday which took the price to $153.36. I thought this surcharge made the meal too expensive.<br/>The food itself was tasty and very much like what you would receive a 'western' Indian restaurant.
Gruvin
Very pricey considering its not authentic traditional Indian food for me
Shobiz Foodbiz
Nice. Everything here was nice...its just that the curry was too spicy for me. My fault for asking medium. Service, food are very very nice! Will be back for "Mild" curry for sure!
TripAdvisor
Best Indian Food in the World i believe. The food here is amazing and the atmosphere is also good, BUT YOU WILL PAY A SQUILLION FOR IT, its quite overpriced, and the service is its only let down, simply put, don't expect too much, they are pretty hopeless in that department, But like i said if the food is the experience your after, its amazing, get takeaway :) Besides the takeaway meals are up to 2 times bigger than the ones for in dining.

Best food ever..... The best Indian restaurants on the coast, my parents are very regular in saffron all their parties are organised by Saffron. I am not much into Indian food nor my husband but when i heard that they cater for 5 star resorts like Versace & Sheraton I and my husband decided to Dine in there with my parents . and when we reached there Oh my god to my surprise I have been to many Indian restaurants in Australia occasionally but this was wwooooh what a decor the ambience of the restaurant is to die for . we were greeted and were given the beautiful table with great view. When you open the menu oh well organised with the the section of meals no one get lost in , it seemed bit expensive but after when our meals arrived and the professional service we got it was all paid well. the food was delicious and well presented , the fried fish was extremely beautiful but the most attractive part was the drinks menu variety of wines and huge selection of spirits and liquor my husband noticed they have at least 30 different variety of vodka Oh my god and the bar i swear I have never seen so well organised and clean bar in my life that too when they were busy like something . the restaurant was packed but the staff was so well presented with smily faces and their excellent service .<br/>Entree to desserts and coffee everything was extraordinary .<br/>I have no Idea why people complain its expensive I would say its worth it and also we understood why Versace and other resorts prefer Saffron . thumbs up guys keep the good work up. I will definitely come back next year the best dinning experience .......

Unhappy. Spent $150 for four adults and they dont include rice at $3 in the meals <br/>wont be going back there anywhere else its served up with the meal but here you have to purchase it <br/>No sorry not good enough<br/>wont be back <br/>will be telling all our friends etc <br/>word n mouth its a powerful thing<br/>overall 3 out of 10

Worth it. Best indian we've found on the coast so far... was starting to become dismayed there wasn't one. forget the cost, just enjoy...
Jock
MSA certified meat. After a sensational beef madras where I ate the most succulent meat in abundance I asked the manager where they bought their meat from and why it was so remarkable. The manager, gladly presented me with MSA Certified meat. Apparently it costs almost twice that of meat used in other restaurants.<br/><br/>As you will know Woolies recently introduced MSA Certified meat in all of it's supermarkets. Here is an overview of what it is all about.<br/><br/>"Meat Standards Australia provides an endorsement of quality for graded cuts of red meat indicating product has met quality standards for tenderness, juiciness and flavour". <br/><br/>So if you believe proof is in the pudding I would recommend Saffron. I would also ask your local who their meat supplier is....<br/><br/><br/>-----28 May, 2012-----<br/><br/>Immunity Pin. I have read some very interesting reviews of Saffron ranging from super to not so.<br/>While taste is individual, should every blogger be entitled to offer their Master Chef perception of what gourmet indian food is?<br/><br/>What is it with is diners suggesting they have a deep knowledge of indian cuisine as their friends are indian. <br/>I'm Scottish however, I have no idea how to make a haggis, short-bread, Cullen Skink.<br/><br/>I started eating indo/pak in 1976 in Glasgow, the curry capital of Europe. It was a nice change to the typical Glasgow diet of deep fried anything including your pet if it looked dead.<br/>Through running about with samosa's and pakora ( damn good too) at the age of six, having eaten in some of the best and worst indian restaurants in the world my blog is for the immunity pin.<br/><br/>At Saffron you know the dish is made from scratch unlike many of the others who use the same base sauce for all. The colour and presentation of a Saffron dish screams 'fresh' and then they're is the quality of meat, first class. When I eat at Saffron, everything is right in the world, its a euphoric sensation as the flavour delivers a nostalgic trip.<br/><br/>When comparing Saffrons food to any other Indian restaurant on the Gold Coast , in my opinion nothing comes close. Sure its a little more pricy however, I'm scottish and so tight only a dog can hear me fart, so if I am willing to pay so should you.<br/><br/>The food is worth the wait, in fact I would take a sleeping bag.<br/><br/>Jock

I love this place we live in Burleigh and dine here and get takeaway all the time! The best dish is the lamb saagwala, looks bad but tastes amazing. The only people who don't like it are people with kids. Please go to curry in a hurry if you don't like the posh ambiance
Emily Brown
I'm a regular customer and absolutely love it!

Expensive and only OK food. Let me say up front that I know Indian food well - I have a number of Indian relatives and many Indian friends. I've been dining at Indian Restaurants on the Gold Coast for many years. We went to this restaurant with our children.<br/>Venue - too dark - do they not want us to see their food? Are they hiding something? There's a difference between a pleasant ambience and too dark for comfort. We had to extinguish the candles on the table as the heat generated by them was cracking the glass lampshade. More darkness!! And where do you park? Ended up finding the carpark after doing a number of blockies, and then once parked in a hotel carpark that we were directed to we had to walk aimlessly through the hotel to find out where to go. We now know the foyer and common areas of the hotel where you share the carpark well. No signage and had to try a number of doors to get out of the hotel and to the restaurant. The Indian music playing was pleasant and at the correct volume.<br/>Service - The dining experience was as you would expect from a restaurant - not outstanding but not slack either. The restaurant only had one other party so they couldn't use an excuse that they were busy.<br/>Food - The naan bread was hideously overpriced compared to other Indian restaurants on the Gold Coast. Having said that it was lovely. The salmon curry was a totally wrong flavour combination. If it was done with a white fish it would have been fine but it just didn't work with the flavour of salmon. The dry spicy barramundi was lovely. We asked for the fish meals to be extra hot but what we got was very mild. My children could have comfortably eaten it. Butter chicken for the kids was very sweet. Almost too sweet. I do a better butter chicken myself and it doesn't cost almost $20 to do it. Food was OK - not outstanding.<br/>Drinks - The house wine was clearly a cheap wine as it had a vinegary taste to it. I'm sure what we paid per glass they could have bought at least two bottles from Dan Murphys. We had to keep asking for water to be topped up.<br/>Overall the service was satisfactory, but the price of the food was too expensive for the quality and quantity. There are many other Indian restaurants on the Gold Coast that offer better food and better value. In fact there are better ones just down the road from them in either direction.

Elegant and delicious. After long flight me and my family badly wanted some really good food and we happen to pass this beautiful restaurant and damn it was so busy.....but we were greeted and were seated on a table which was beautifully set and candle light was making the atmosphere more desirable. A beautiful Indian lady came up to us and took our order my family was delighted by her looks and her service, not only us but she was looking after all the tables all alone and was smiling always we initially thought she was the owner but she just was working there and was looking after every bit of it doing drinks ,taking orders running food entertaining guests, well organised ,restaurant was beautiful and clean never seen such anywhere in Australia bar was big with different varieties of alcohol and cocktails whole space was well used menu was well designed we placed an order and suddenly we heard some sizzling sound and we all got excited when the platter was served on our table with naan bread and pappadums and this delicious NZ white wine was giving compliments to it we finished and within ten minutes arrived our main mouth watering food ever had in my life and the best was baramundi fish never had that before, prawns massala butter chicken was amazing we finished our dinner with the final touches:) of macadamia ice cream and mango ice cream with coffee we were overwhelmed by the food service and then my sons were curious to know about India and we asked the lady and she intelligently gave us all our answers and to our surprise her English was awesome . highly recommended restaurant up to the mark ill miss you saffron but will be back.

Wonderful food!!. I have always had a wonderful meal at Saffron and I regularly take clients there with a good outcome every time. For all the negative comments...say it to the business owner so that they can do something about it. As for the price, I know a lot of restraunt owners in Broadbeach and I know what the rent costs to know that it is justified. If you know Indian food you would know that the oil floating on the meal is where the flavour is, no one ever compains about the amount of butter used in a fancy french dish. I think Saffron strives for excellence and if they do drop the ball on occassion they need to know.
Sarah
Some people may be overwhelmed with all the restaurants to choose from in broadbeach. If you're a curry lover than go no futher than saffron opposite pacific fair. Sure u can get cheaper tasteless curry elsewhere but this place is worth every cent. I dont like hot foods but could happily eat the chicken korma every day
Steph Riley
I have been living on the coast for seven years now and been regularly visiting saffron for the majority of that time. It didn't take long to fall in love with the food here.. Try it.. I'm sure you'll agree. I prefer the rogan josh but my partner is a beef madras man. The wine isnt cheap and so we usually take our own. The cocktails on offer are very reasonably priced and very expertly made. The staff are very friendly and always keep your water glass filled. The restaurant is modern and spacious, yet ideal for a quiet table for two or a large group. On saturday we had a table for 22 and such is the layout that we were pretty segregated from interupting those having a more private meal. I used to think I was spoilt for curry when I was a student living near the famous curry mile in Rusholme, Mamchester, but after eating at saffron I would be upset if I had to eat anywhere else.

Chicken masala. Love this dish and the nan breads. Nice bar but I'm not a big drinker.

Very Overpriced for pretty ordinary Indian food. The parking allotted to the restaurant shared along with a hotel parking was so difficult to find and the directions given by the restaurant staff was so unclear, they could have had a bit of forethought to hv signboards for parking<br/>Masaladosa was a rip offat 20 dollars<br/>Uttapam was wrongly spelled as uttappan they better know to spell south indiafood before making them<br/>No desserts on the menu<br/>Menu card said $6 for rumali roti which was crumbly pap pad like, which they were happy to change of course which I thought they should hv checked before giving us the first time and the bill said$ 6 90<br/><br/>I am an Indian so I know this restaurant is very overpriced and overrated in reviews by Australians because they do not know how much its true worth is

Best Indian restaurant we've found on the gold coast. Great atmosphere, superb flavors. We love it!

WOW!!!. One word! WOW!! we did wait for about 10mins for our table but it was so worth the wait. Its really good to give a restaurant your money when the service and the food is so good! I am going back again next weekend! Highly recommend!

Definitely don't recommend. I went there this evening for the first time with friends and was confronted by the worst treatment I have ever had in a restaurant. There was a problem with the bill and when we enquired about it we were hit with the rudest response imaginable. Left to wait for a long time whilst seemingly nobody acted on our request, was confronted in a hostile manner by the waitress and waiter and the whole thing was blown completely out of proportion when it could have been calmly and politely handled in a fraction of the time.<br/><br/>That said, meal was alright yet completely overpriced.

Best Indian I have had in Qld so far. I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant on Christmas Eve in the company of my husband and four sons. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome and to feel as though we were special visitors. Having worked for three years in the UK for a company that owned Indian restaurants, wine bars and a nightclub I am very partial to GOOD Indian food and have tried various restaurants in Australia but without a doubt the Saffron is my choice so far. From the sizzling starter plates to the mains the presentation, service and tastes was outstanding. My eldest sons felt the lamb madras and butter chicken was the best they had tasted and the Naans were cooked to perfection. Great work Saffron - can't wait to get back down your way for another gourmet feast.
JD
Worst. Decided on indian food for a birthday celebration with my son and daughter, they wanted chan mi thai but as it was my birthday i chose, Saffron, WORST decision ever. bad service worst food not just indian but WORST food iv ever had. 3 of us at $180.00 no drinks. they kept us waiting for 30.min when half the restaurant was empty, then an hour for food, which was dry and tastless. Never ever go to this restaurant. there are plenty on the coast that are great. JD

If you are impressed with it's advertisement , location and marketing then take a step back and read the review.. If you are vegetarian this should be your last choice in gold coast. Malai kofta which is suppose to be a bit sweet was too hot and spicy that you can't eat. Kadai paneer has oil floating around with too spicy and with absolutely no taste. I went with my family of 4 with a kid and we came out almost empty stomach after paying at useless highly priced restaurant

Food court Indian and 2 day old is not Good Enough. We returned to Saffron after almost 2 years (we live in Brisbane) on a day out to have what was expected to be a nice lunch. We arrived at 12:30p.m. and they were only then opening. We should have turned around then. OUr previous experience did not reoccur. We ordered naan and the garlic version had quasi raw garlic on the outside. It should be on the inside and well cooked! the Chicken korma was the same quality as you'd get in a shopping mall food court. THe biryani (veg) was almost okay but suspicions were confirmed with the white rice. The cook (defintely not a chef who might have some pride in his work) sent 2-3 day old rice which had been re-heated ina microwave. It was stiff and gritty and shameful. My wife and I are restrauneurs and again find that we must cross off another place from our safe list. If they use old food for lunch why do they bother opening?

Just different, I guess.... This was a strange restaurant. I was 30-seconds from walking away before we were seated...<br/><br/>When we arrived we were ushered to a waiting room before we were seated. It was comfortable enough and certainly well decorated, but hello, this was an almost completely empty restaurant!<br/><br/>The waiter came out in the nick of time; I was literally about to walk out.<br/><br/>The food was some of the best Indian I've had, certainly the best on the Coast.<br/><br/>The service ended up being excellent, too. The only downside was the exorbitant pricing. There's no excuse for Indian food to be so expensive.

It was good. Hahaha if you think Tandoori Hut is good you're tripping! I thought it was really good. The normal mains are only $20 and you can tell the ingredients are a lot fresher. You could see the coriander etc. I swear I got tinned mushrooms at Tandoori hut but not here. Maybe they've lifted their game since you whingers went?

Too expensive.... The restaurant ambience is lovely however the service was average - a beer was ordered but never received , the ordering process was very slow and it was raining but nobody came over to close the doors or help bring food inside for people that were sitting outside. the food was very expensive for an Indian restaurant and although it was good there are other restaurants of similar quality but a much cheaper price. we had a good evening but it wouldn't be somewhere I would return.

OVERATED. A group of us had dinner there last night and the food was way overated. The mains were quite expensive and over priced. Far better Indian restaurants on the Gold Coast with better tasting mains in the $10-$12.00 category such as Tandoori Place.

GOOD FOOD GREAT SERVICE, BUT................. Four of us went to "Saffron" the food was very good, as was the service. However, if you have a weak bladder, or worse, or if it's raining I would not suggest you come here, as it's a marathon hike to find the bathrooms. It's not next door, as I was told by the waitress, it's the next independant building over. Whilst the bathroom was clean, I felt unsafe walking into the loo's on my own, if one got mugged, no one would hear you.<br/>A restaurant of this quality should have it's own bathrooms. Because of this, we probably won't be back.

Delicious Indian food. Great spices and flavours. Good value for money. Dined with children and felt very relaxed. Friendly staff
