Many years ago I came to Margan for a wine tasting, but I never had the opportunity to dine in their restaurant.
This past weekend we sat down for a relaxed five-course lunch at Margan on the patio with a scenic view of the vines and farm where the food comes directly from.
The food at Margan Restaurant was delicious - with a strong focus on vegetables from the garden. It’s a comfort to know that the artichokes, asparagus and fennel you’re eating was grown only a few steps away.
Service was the standout memory from Margan. We had Brittany look after us during lunch and she was amazing, from designing mandarin-flavoured cocktails to regaling us with stories from the vineyard.
Hospitality is alive and well in the Hunter, and I’m already looking forward to returning to Margan.
What an amazing experience!! We had the reserve tasting with the Ploughman's platter and it was absolutely divine! From start to finish, our day was fantastic. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly and took the time to chat with us about the wines, the food and everything in between.
Visited Margan Restaurant in December 2021 for dinner. We had the 5 courses tasting menu, and the menu is designed to showcase the estate grown, sustainably farm produce and wine.
Great and friendly service - we had an overall great dining experience.
We took a tour with lunch. It was a beautiful winery and Gabby was a nice guide. Lunch was pretty good food-wise. But for a degustation meal, the pace of food serving could be improved. I was getting bored sitting down waiting. 5 courses given its portions shouldn’t have taken 2.5 hours. Chair was getting a bit uncomfortable towards the latter half. Hope these could be improved but overall good experience.
It was a delightful experience I had here at Margan, the service was warm and welcoming, the dinning environment was brilliant and most importantly I was completely blown away by the wonderful food served.
I would say this is a must have experience when you visit Hunter Valley, you won't regret it.
Wow, wow, wow!
It’s been a while… But we’re out of lockdown and in the Hunter Wine Region… specifically, Broke! Garden to Plate menu was off the charts and the Margan wine pairing was the perfect accompaniment. Highlights were the Chablis style Chardonnay and the Barbera.. and the cannelloni & wagyu beef dishes 🤤

Service was as spectacular as the food. Great team, great lunch - if it were local… I’d be in trouble.
Amazing destination in the Hunter Valley. Make reservations for the multi course meals with set start times. Me and a mate did a wine tasting and the young lady who walked us through it was very friendly and well informed. It was a great experience and the wine was excellent. Did not taste a bad wine.

First and foremost, possibly the best day ever coming to Margan wines. To clarify, I decided to propose to my partner after the ultimate Margan experience and then enjoy the 5 course meal. From the beginning, the tour was incredible! Going through the winery and looking and feeling how it was made transformed the tour (plus a tasting from the vats was absolutely incredible). Our tour guide was so knowledgeable, down to earth and friendly his energy was contagious and the entire group was enjoying the experience. Fast forward to touring the gardens and the greenhouse, Laura was able to set up something special as I proposed to my partner which truly encapsulated the entire day as utter perfection. Laura, thank you so much! Following the successful YES we went to the restaurant where every waiter and waitress made the day so special my partner still had a tear plus the meals were truly incredible, the cannelloni was out of this world . I truly can not recommend this experience enough, every one was knowledgeable and thoughtful as well as ensuring customer satisfaction was paramount. 10/10. Thank you all we will be back to purchase more albarino!!
