Went to Teta Mona for my birthday last night. I have been a few times over the years and have never been dissapointed. I couldnt believe how stupidly busy they were for a Tuesday night which gives you an indication of how good they are. As usual the food was devine, and the service was perfect and relaxed. Sitting on the sofa and relaxing in the back dining area gave it such a comfortable homely feel.

We came here for my friends 40th Birthday dinner and the food was pretty good, definately home style cooking that you would expect your mum or grandma to cook, the service was friendly and quick, my only complaint would be t o have more meat options.
Teta Mona is incredible. From the kitschy mismatched furniture to the adorable back courtyard to the dishes that are at once rustic yet luxurious, I love everything about it. It's super veg and vegan friendly and great for groups. The kebe a top pick of mine, as is the fried cauliflower. All dips are also amazing. It's a highlight of the Brunswick East dining scene.
This place is excellent on so many levels. From the gorgeous food offered to the staff that are extremely helpful and are not overly zealous with their service like those at Rumi, for instance. The only slight negative thing I’ve got to say about the place is that while the range of food is varied, for anyone that likes seafood, there’s only one dish; a barramundi dish. Disappointing. That aside, if you’re after good wholesome food, without the pretentiousness atmosphere, then this place is it!
Mind blown!! As they say never judge a book by its cover. The simple homey interior made me think i was just going to get the typical homemade meal. Boy was I wrong and sure glad i was. Each dish was beyond amazing. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!
I’ve been to a lot of Lebanese joints in my time and I can comfortably say this is hands down the best Lebanese food I have ever had. It literally tastes like food your grandma (Teta) would cook. I wanted to take the Hommus home and leave my boyfriend at the restaurant. Already making plans to come back.
Have been here many times and the food is outstanding every single time. I can't go more than a few months without Teta Mona, it is one of my (and my friends) most visited restaurants in Melbourne. The staff are on the ball, knowledgeable and fun and the atmosphere is always lovely and warm. The house dips, tabbouleh, sautéed green beans, lamb cigars and beef meatballs are favourites, but the whole menu is delicious. Definitely feels like soul food! I day dream about their dishes often and have tried to find recipes so I can replicate them at home. It's never as good, of course! Oh, and it's BYO beer and wine!! I love this place so much!

Love that Teta Mona is byo. There are fewer and fewer byo's along this very popular strip. The food is always great. Particular favorites include the spinach salad, the 7 spice chicken and the fish. Can get rather cramped inside - always good to get there early.
This has to be one of the best value restaurants in the Brunswick area. The dishes are so fresh and tasty and although it's a busy place, the staff are professional and friendly. My favourite dishes are the fish, meatballs and lamb cigars, but everyone will tell you they have a different favourite! A great place to go with friends, bring your own wine and have a couple of drinks, order a few meals and then share them all. Price is quite inexpensive for the such high quality food.
Great food and service, such a gem of a place. Star of the night were the halloumi triangles (HOW do they get them to be so gooey). The staff were so friendly, made great recommendations, and were just the right level of attentive. Perfect place to catch up over a meal.

Me and my husband had dinner there yesterday to celebrate my Birthday. We had dips with breads, barramundi dish and lamb dish, rose water ice crushed and ginger beer. Food was simple but amazing just like having dinner at friends house, especially the backyard was so nice. It would have been better if they served bread warm but the service kitchen is small and busy so this is probably why they don’t serve warm bread :)

Four of us dined and got a large variety off dishes. Hands down, that barramundi dish was the best piece of fish ever!! The quick of flavour and it was cooked to perfection. Loved the contrast between dishes. Would also recommend the tabbouleh, cheese salad, falafels & sausages. Downside; the lamb was very salty and the stuffed zucchini was like a rice burrito. However, that was minor in comparison to how delicious and honest this food is! Lovely staff and love it’s BYO. Will be back again!! Keep up the great work :)

Wow! What an amazing dining experience. From the moment you enter Teta Mona you feel very welcome and at home, your biggest stress will be choosing which dish takes your fancy! The outside courtyard is set up beautifully and great for couples, small groups and functions alike. The ambiance is just perfect. Staff are very attentive and talked and discussed the menu as we chose the feed me option. EVERY single dish was delicious and it’s not often you can say that with a feed me menu. The particular highlights for me were the lamb and the barramundi, although really every dish was amazing and delightfully authentic!
So nice to watch the chefs in action and to see the love, soul and passion they put into their food. Thank you Teta Mona for one of the best dining experience I have ever had, I will be back!

Stumbled across this place with my girlfriend and friend - HIDDEN GEM. The food was exotic but still retained a level of comfort with help from the ambience of the restaurant and staff. I ell ooooh veee eee this place 💕💕💕. Food is seriously good, staff are fun but professional and the vibe is always good. Haloumi pastries, the cauliflower with cous cous and the lamb with chick peas are the standouts for me on a menu smacking with flavour. BYO with a pub directly across the road.... and its cheap for the amount of food, especially the banquet option... seriously what more do you need?

I had the vegan banquet with some friends and from the very beginning staff were warm greetings and they run me through all their vegan options.
We had the Fattouch, Batata, Arnabeet, Falafels, the Kousa and the Kebe Dumplings! It was purely a magical VEGAN feast and it's the only place that has VEGAN baklava!! My new fav for sure.

Ok so I love Lebanese food but this place is like I’m at someone’s house! So delicious and flavoursome. The staff were super and explained the menu and that it’s a take on the owners grandmas house, yep I got that! Yum.
Love this place! It's cozy and homely, and every dish was delicious in its simplicity. We had the banquet at a very reasonable $38 each, and they were also nice enough to swap out dessert for dips & breads instead. You definitely don't go home hungry here.
This was a phenomenal experience from start to finish that I was not expecting as a seasoned Melbourne restaurant attendee. The $38 per person menu (2x choices of small, medium, mains + dessert) is unbeatable, if not way too much, and there are enough vegetarian options for mostly everyone (?or me anyway) to be happy.
Nice byo restaurant, pleasant set up in the courtyard though the wooden benches were a little uncomfortable. Favourite dishes were the dips - particularly loved the eggplant - and the haloumi parcels - really tasty, beautifully crisp pastry and stretchy cheese.
Came here twice and each time had good and bad. To be honest the food is not all authentic. The kousa (stuffed zuchini) is really bad. I am originally Palestinian/Jordanian and this is not how it should be cooked. It came in huge pieces not cooked through!! Very bad. Also the salads were not spiced at all, not good.On the other hand the cigara bil laem (meat cigars), chicken with rice, and lamb dishes were really good.The worst part is they sat us outside in the uncovered area and a possum pooped/peed on us from a tree and the staff just shook it off and didn't offer anything. That is really bad service

Really delicious, simple food going on here.
Everything on the menu was enticing and we certainly ordered our fair share (or maybe a bit more) of food and by the end were defeated. The staff were very happy to provide take home boxes for what we aren't able to finish though and overall were very friendly.
I think almost everything we ordered was a hit for one or all of us.
We personally found the medium size share plates to be the best of the bunch, especially the barramundi, the cauliflower and the pastries with haloumi and feta.
The zucchini (which on this particular day was cabbage) was tasty but not as full of flavour as some of the other dishes. The sauce was rather light and personally I enjoy a bit of a thicker tomato sauce but still overall pretty nice.
I, personally, very much appreciated the range of dishes they had to cater for vegans and vegetarians. I'd say more than half of the menu was vegetable based and the food here really proves how much heart and soul you can put into a dish without meat.
I will certainly be returning to this cozy and casual restaurant because while we had a good crack at the menu last night, there was plenty more I want to come back and try or indeed, dishes I need to eat again.

This is always my go-to place whenever I fancy a healthy takeaway on a Friday night. Standout dishes are the barramundi, halloumi parcels, zucchini main and the spinach, wheat and caramelized onion salad. The service is always great and I love the fact it's BYO when I fancy sitting in. Only thing that would make it better? Some variation to the menu and more veggie mains.
Really really ❤️ this place. The food is simply gorgeous home style cooking made with love. The fish dish is delicious, dips amazing and all the desserts are must do! The lamb pastries are 10/10 as too are the salads. Lovely service, efficient and not intrusive. Highly recommend.
Wonderful, fresh, flavoursome food. The best meal I've had in ages. I can't fault the meal, however the seating (an old sofa) wasn't so hot. But... the...food! Lamb cigars, cauli (I don't know what to call it), the baked fish, the chicken with almonds and the fairy floss icecream and... awesome.

The food is always fresh and tasty but it's missing something and I can't put my finger on it. After living in the Middle East for 4 years, when I moved to the area and show that this place was here I was delighted but it doesn't make me want to eat here all the time, like some of the other places around. I will say they do make these amazing halloumi pastry things that as so tasty!

Really lovely staff, the shop set out is a little cramped and I always end up on a couch (awkward) the food is nice, I wouldn't say it's authentic Lebanese food (which is what I'd prefer) it is more modern 'organic' Lebanese style.

It's hard to stuff up Lebanese food. A good salad some seasoned meat and you give it a pass. Teta mona takes Lebanese food to another level. The dips especially the hommus was some of the best I've ever had. The tabouli was without a doubt in my mind the best I've had. The lamb cigars were so full of flavour. I was so impressed by this little place. It really is a must try for all middle eastern food lovers. Only problem is they serve organic cola when all you want to do with wash down all the goodness with some real coke (but the food was so good I forgave them)
Wonderful service, amazing food, and almost half a menu of vegan options - amazing! I honestly have no way to fault them, from the minute we got there the service was wonderful, the food was really fresh and delicious but also came out quickly despite the fact they were almost full. We ordered far too much food so I am eating leftovers as I type this and I can tell you, the food gets even better the next day. I'm in love!

This is a long overdue review, but these guys hosted my 27th birthday around a month ago and they were incredible. I'd never eaten there before but a friend had recommended them, especially since the banquet was so affordable and I was booking for a large number of people (around 15 I think). They were VERY patient with me when I stuffed up the numbers (more than once!) and super accommodating, we also had a few people with dietary restrictions on our table which they were more than happy to cater for. The food came out really quickly and every course was fantastic, we actually stuffed ourselves to the point that when dessert came we could hardly even fit a bite in, and the staff insisted I take the dessert home with me. I can't wait to come back here to sample everything else on the menu, thank you so much for making my birthday so special Teta Mona!

We had a very enjoyable dinner here on the weekend. Make a booking as they seem to always be fully booked on busy nights. We had the banquet which gave us the opportunity to try a number of dishes @ $35 per head. We chose a range of entrees a few shared mains and had a dessert platter. The service was great and we were able to customise our orders to accommodate one vegetarian, which was very helpful. We got the lamb cigars which were moorish and tasty, the mixed dips and bread and the felafel for entrees. There could have been a bit more bread to mop up everything. Having said that we were completely stuffed at the end of the meal. The lamb dish was also really well done- tender, saucy and delicious. And the dessert platter was picture perfect and a great end to the meal. Strawberries and baklava 😍
I really enjoyed what I had at Teta Mona, but the big ‘but’ is that our server forgot to put through our mains so after an hour of waiting we didn’t really want to wait any more, so (confession) we headed home and heated chips from the freezer and they were bloody great. Teta Mona is a Middle Eastern/ Lebanese styled venue on Lygon Street and a mere stone’s through from my friend’s house (and their oven). We managed to grab a table by the window and chose a mix of their small and medium share bowls as well as the mains to get a good try (and photo) of everything. Part of this plan did not eventuate, as you know.
I had a hilarious conversation with someone over the weekend who thought my bloat scores were based on how much I’d overeaten, as opposed to how much I was reacting to the fructose and lactose-addled food that I was forcing my malabsorbing body to process. I can’t say he was wrong – I do constantly ignore my body’s subtle ways of telling me it’s full, which in turn exacerbates my symptoms, so let’s say my bloat scores comprise a little from column A and a little from column B. But for those who are first-time readers, know that I do have intolerances that cause significant bloating that isn’t solely from overeating.

The flavours in the food were delicious - even had our 3yo asking for more spinach (in the chicken dish)! Food arrived quickly. Teta Mona was quite the little pocket rocket. A small shop front leads to a restaurant with enough seats for about 50 people. The kitchen, at the front of the restaruant, fills the space with yummy smells throughout the night. Our table of 4 had the banquet style meal, which was made even better by the fact that not everyone had to choose the same 7 items as others on the table. This was good value at $35 pp and we all left stuffed.
The only let down was hat we waited 45 minutes for our dining mates to arrive and the waitstaff didnt come and take a drink order whilst we waited.
Went there mid week, place is small but cozy. Great casual dining place. The place is BYO so feel free to bring your favorite bottles there. Food there are quite good, you gotta try their falafel diy, it is the best, it's crunchy & it taste delicious. Also their kafta w batata is the highlight of the night, it's chili tomato sauce goes well with the meatball, but it gives you this hint of spice, it's packed with falvour & awesomeness. Try it out, not a bad price for really great flavors.

The dishes my friend and I ate at Teta Mona were very "home style", nourishing and filling, but without much zing. The standout of the meal was the Samboosek bi Jebne (haloumi and feta pastries), with a sharp salty centre and balsamic glaze. I also enjoyed the Arnaweet wa Beethnjan, large chunks of pan-fried cauliflower with a generous heap of dukkah.
The Fatté hommus wa lahem (spiced lamb and pita chips with yoghurt) was a little too heavy on the pita, which made the whole thing quite stodgy, although the flavour was spot on.
The staff let us linger and enjoy our conversation, which is rare to find on a Saturday night when the pressure to turn over tables is high. Unfortunately we ended our meal with a very watery Lebanese coffee - I would have loved a more robust crema.
A heads up: the atmosphere is warm and cosy but the front dining room is extremely narrow, so prams or wheelchairs won't fit.
After reading the other reviews here, I'd be keen to come back to try the felafel and see if it's a winner.

Jeez I love this place. I always feel like I need to roll out of there though because I eat way too much. The Veg options are delightful. The Samboosek alone get me, I could eat 2 plates alone! It feels like a tight squeeze when you are there with tiny tables and lots of bowls but other than that I have nothing to complain about, only praise for this gem!

Had to try Teta Mona after a girl at work went three times in two weeks. She's become slightly obsessed with the place. Now I understand why she did, this place was absolutely amazing. The food was delicious and fresh, the staff were extremely friendly and the place looks great. Super cool courtyard too. I highly recommend their lamb and chickpea dish, the haloumi filled pastries, and don't get me started on their semolina and coconut slice for dessert, it was TO DIE FOR. My god!!!!! Finally, a nice Lebanese restaurant that differs from its commercial counterparts. The green beans and tabboule were a nice fresh start and then we had the lamb cigars and cheese pastry envelopes - which I could eat for days! By the end of the mains - meatballs and stuffed zucchinis it was time for bed. Will definitely be back.
Had our little staff shindig here great choice, terrific buzzy atmosphere even on a Monday first rate service and delicious tasty food. We had the banquet another good choice ( I do make good choices :) every course a winner. Thank you for looking after us so well Look forward to returning
Been wanting to try Teta Mona for a while and finally did with some friends and overall we loved our experience there, food was fresh tasty and it is definitely soul food, staff was lovely and helpful.. Can't wait to go back 👌🏽
Great place! The atmosphere, food and staff were phenomenal! Definitely worth a try, there are heaps of great vegan & vegetarian dishes while still accommodating to meat eaters !
