Review Moroccan Deli-cacy - Brunswick East

Amélie C
Very good food and service. We went at the second door on the right (not the front restaurant). We took the menu at 25$ (soupe, salad, tajine, dessert, tea, coffee). It was excellent. A lot of food for a cheap price. Highly recommend.

Love this Cafe so much. Great lunch location if you are on the North Side of Town.

Checked out this cafe based on the recommendation of the manager of our favourite local cafe. We had the assorted plate and the pocket and both were a delicious mountain of food. The coffee we had was great and we had great service. I also really like the decor and vibe of the place.

Was talked into getting the banquet style lunch that came with heaps of delicious dishes like hummus, salad, sweet potato chips, a few baked dishes containing capsicum, eggplant, potato. This also included dessert. I think it was called The Taginerie? Second time here so great to try something different but next time I go, I would just get the special plate with a bit of everything from their "normal" spoken menu.

Very delicious food, friendly waiters and cozy environment. Highly recommended.

Loved and enjoyed the food thoroughly. Open platter 👌

Great food! Wonderful colours in the restaurant and the plate size is generous. Plus, these guys are all about equality and justice for everyone! Meat eaters, as a fellow meat eater don't be turned off by the vegetarian menu, it's absolutely fantasicly made, wonderfully seasoned and delicious as anything.

Just Delicious ! Can't go wrong with $15

The $10 vegie lunch takeaway is the best in the entire North of Melbourne. They always ask if you have any allergies and it is consistently fabulous every time. Highly recommend!

Moroccan Delicacy located in Brunswick is sister to its well know counterpart the Moroccan Soup Kitchen, serves up magnificent Moroccan cuisine at an utterly dirt cheap price. Always busy this cafe offerings a small area of outdoor seating provided by lovely tiled tables and wire chair, though the real magic happens inside. Upon entering one is taken into the streets of Morocco, with the aroma of spices in the air and the walls decked with tins, herbs, sauces and other Middle eastern pantry staple goods, finding a spot to sit may be challenging.

I was meeting a friend for coffee late on a weekday so the place wasn’t as busy as it usually was. We where greeted by lovely kind hearted staff who sat us at the large communal table on high rise stools and informed us of the ordering process. Although we didn’t get the opportunity to have a meal here due to being pressed for time, I certainly will be back to feast on one of their staple mixed plates, offering an array of dishes to sample from.
We simply ordered to long black coffees and as we waited we took in the humble, authentic atmosphere.

The coffees arrived and our hearts skipped a beat due to the colour of the two brews. On first appearance the thick black texture with a fine lighter shade of brown forming the creme was enough to suggest this was going to be a mighty strong coffee. Served with a side of mouthwatering Turkish delight to accomodate the flawless coffee it was clear that we would have to return, and fast. The brews where very, very strong but where excellent. With bitter, nutty, chocolate tasting notes pushed through at high pressure, extracting maximal flavours the coffee was constant although did leave a very small portion of residue at the base of the glass.

Moroccan Delicacy is a unique authentic establishment run by extraordinary staff that serve up respectable and delicate Moroccan cuisine. The food and coffee is packed with flavour and is easy to see why this place is always so busy.

Amazing food!! It’s so cool here because there is no menu so you just order a plate and they put all different kinds of servings on it. Absolutely loved it, if you’re not a fussy easer and love a bit of gourmet everything then this place is for you.

Delicious food, good value and fun, relaxed, communal vibe. Haven’t tried the breakfasts but it’s one of my favourite places to have lunch in Brunswick.

The food is super tasty and clean. It was hyped but still beyond my expectations. You can taste the distinct flavours of each ingredient mould subtly within the platter. Just try it.

It's quite packed on weekends.

Monkey had a working from home day and since I recently became a lady of leisure, I decided to check out Moroccan deli-cacy w her. I didn’t actually realize it was vego... so I was a bit sad. We had a mixed platter with mocorccan mint tea. It was so delish that I soon forget it didn’t have meat. Lol. At the end we ordered a lemon coconut semolina cake to share and it tasted really good.

My only gripe is the food came out a bit slow.... nothing seemed to be freshly cooked (not to say it’s not fresh!) so I wasn’t sure why it took so long
Affogato Addiction
Delicious food at good value, very nicely decored cafe.
Lunch plates are generally around $15, they will tell you what is on the menu today. Takeaway pack available.
Spices, nuts and condiments can be purchased.
Tables can be a tight squeeze when busy.

Hana, and the folks who help make this spectacular place what it is, deserve an uninterrupted round of applauses. From hosting community events to supporting people, all the way to blessing your appetite and taste buds. Moroccan Deli-cacy is a great place to hang out, eat out, and find out about events and learn.

Really delicious, simple Moroccan food. Friendly service and very interesting decor. Highly recommended for locals and visitors. Will be back!
Mandi Vegan
I ordered the amazing vegan banquet today and was impressed. So much delicious food. I especially loved the soup, hummus and the vegan desserts.
Amalya Permana
Pros: Good decor, ambiance, service and food of course. Small portion is quite big enough and it's a food for the soul as well, very fulfilling. All spices are subtle but work together nice. It's perfect in a cold day. One of my fav for sure
Cons: None
Sweettooth
Amazing place for a quick and tasty lunch! Every single element on the plate was so delicious and makes me want more
Don't forget to order mint tea, it's minty and refreshing
I did not even know this place existed until my friend randomly took me here!
I didn't know what to expect or to expect anything really. Then the waitress brings out this beautiful plate of so much variety! There was 2 types of grain salad, hummus, eggplant chips, crisps and haloumi AND everything just worked together perfectly.
A cheap and fantastic local eat, would recommend!
Kaye Swan
Always amazing! The food is just so fresh and lovely! Mint lemonade is ace and the vibe of the place is great! Kind of like a market-y vibe but just a cafe that serves good food and they don't mess about. Very friendly staff too!
Food Hoarder
This is a wonderful place to visit & have a delicious meal. There is nothing pretentious about this place & staff are welcoming. The ambience & feel of the place is warm & full of life, come here if you ever feel down, it will make you feel better.

We had the mixed plate with an array of vegetarian salads & fried goodies, a flavour bomb that will wake you up!

I love everything about this place. The only feedback I can give is that there is so much flavour in the food that it can be overwhelming & flavours get lost in all the lemon juice. Some subtle flavours would do well on the plate to add a bit of shade & balance.
The Carnivor & Vegan
If there one place the carnivore would eat vegetarian for brunch it's Moroccan soup deli.
We been here a few times before and personal fav
The banquet is incredible and only available after 11:30am
For $22 per person you get a amazing variety of everything Moroccan to share with unlimited coffee and drinks with desert 🙌🙌🙌

Quick cheap and authentic
Jolene Lim
A very interesting concept. They only have 2 options for lunch, no menu. So ordered both which is a mixed platter and pumpkins soup. We also had the Moroccan coffee. The food is tasty and the staff are very friendly. Very interesting decor and nice glassware used. Keen to come back to try their breakfast.
Erin
The food here is so delicious that while we were eating not one word was spoken. We never wanted it to end! Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. 5 stars all the way!
GET•IN•MY•BELLY
This food is good for the soul. I turn vegetarian for a day a week and this is my go to for a plate full of goodness. Sometimes twice a week
G Train
Such a warm feeling whenever you attend this place.
Staff are very friendly, and the baked eggs were full of flavour.
Wouldn't of had a much nicer experience for breakfast anywhere.
Keep up the good work
Adam Brown
Their $10 lunch packs are the best meal you can buy for that money. Hands down. They could charge double and it would still be worth it. If you've got a big appetite, try the $15 mixed plate. You won't be disappointed.
Jayidah
Amazing, authentic food, I can't recommend this place more highly. All your senses will be stimulated with the amazing decor as well as spivey smells and amazing flavours.
Hemi Rakei Reidy
Awesome best lunch when you don't want to chose and just want a giant healthy plate of goodness placed in front of you! Coffees not really the point of this place all about window seat juice and a bunch of salads, can't wait to have a weekend off to come back in thanks guys.

The good thing about Moroccan food is that it is cooked with a variety of Mediterranean fruits and vegetables. Every bite introduces your tastebuds to so many flavours at once. It's just so rich and delicious.

We ordered some takeaway as the kitchen had closed . A couscous salad, a vegan moroccan meal and veg croissants. Everything tasted so so good, so fresh and rich in nuts and fruits. Next time I'm going to have some afternoon tea at this place.

Staff is very welcoming and the ambience definitely makes you feel like you're in Morocco.
One must try their roasted nuts as well.
Eva
Good food, good service, nice atmosphere, fantastic experience! A full plate of Moroccan favourites. I truely enjoyed it. Will definitely go back.

没有菜单,服务生会告诉你今天吃的是啥,然后问你噢不噢,一盘作为午餐非常丰盛,想吃的几乎都有,味道也是赞赞的,很接地气的感觉,对吃素来说真的非常出色。
Everything you want about moroccan food is on a single plate. Super delicious.
Patrick
Great place and was nice to have a chat with Hana. Had the plate, fantastic vegetarian food with lots of flavour and variation of texture and sweetness. Slightly overpriced for what it is but will definitely return sometime soon.
Hanna Skehill
Platter was amazing! Loved that they asked for allergies as I can't have gluten and they were completely used to adjusting for that. The mint-tea was great, definitely not what you expect but pleasantly so.
The service was really fantastic, lovely staff and very helpful as it was our first time and we just walked in during a very busy time for them.
Definitely keeping it as a regular place now even though totally out of my way
Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum.

Great vego middle eastern food on a plate. No menu, the food just come to you. And it's ALL GOOD.

Think lentil salads, falafels, breads and dips.

Tasty, healthy, cheap and easy. I usually get the lunchbox which has heaps of tasty treats. This is one of my favourite places to eat in Melbourne. Highly recommended.
Lellett
Super easy when you just walk into a place and they say - want everything on a plate? Yes please with some mint tea on the side! Such good, fresh, wholesome food. And seeing Hana hang out there is wonderful. She is a legend! And so welcoming too. Her community spirit is inspiring - as is her food!

This place consistently sells stale nuts. I bought nuts from its predecessor - Mirimar Nut Shop - for 20 years without ever getting stale product. Soon after it turned into the Moroccan Delicacy I noticed that the nuts were sometimes stale and so stopped buying there. After a year's absence I returned in the hope that the new management had got their act together only to find that the nuts were still stale. $15 down the drain. Never again. What a shame as this shop was a Brunswick icon.
Theknifeandforktalk
What a beautiful hidden gem! I did not expect this place to serve food after walking in and wow am I impressed! Not only was I warmly greeted and given water but the menu was only verbal so our lovely waitress told us the menu off the top of her head with no fault. Everything just sounded delicious and it all was! A MUST try venue for a delicious breakfast out as well as all your middle eastern cooking needs as they also sell nuts, seeds, herbs, spices etc etc.

Ohhh my! What can ii say! Seriously the best, beautiful, amazing, flavoursome and full of love soul food. I have this food on my mind constantly. Hands down my favourite food around the area.
Lani
Amazing prompt service paired with equally impressive food makes this a staple in my weekend lunch/breakfast repertoire. You get two options for lunch, last time I ordered the mixed plate which was huge with an incredible variety of Moroccan delights!

I am a huge fan of Moroccan Soup Kitchen so was very excited to check this place out.

Environment: great place to hang out! Loved the decor and different seating options. Mismatched share tables, benches and window seats.
Service: excellent. Efficient and very friendly.
Take away: we only bought nuts today but they were fantastic. Loads of other great options for middle eastern grocery items. We will be back to buy more nuts and a few of the other items in the future. I saw pomegranate molasses too - which I love!
Food: we missed breakfast so had the lunch plate. A few Dips, a few salads, falafel, deep fried eggplant, sweet potato, cous cous, Lentils, zaatar bread, chick pea bake and some great crunchy potato chip like crackers. It was all very good food. There was nothing that I did not like the taste of. But such large portions. And there is a lot happening on that plate. Removing a couple of the items would not go astray. Next time we will share one lunch page between two and order a cake to share afterwards 😜
Coffee: The nous coffee was fabulous!

Next time I will go earlier in the day to check out the breakfast menu. I will also try the pomegranate juice and mint tea.

I wanted to like it very much, as the sister soup bar is very popular. But i wasnt blown away by what we had.

We ordered the set plate for lunch. A plate of falafel, spicy eggplant fritter, roast vege, pan fried haloumi, baba ganoush + hummus, chickpea salad, couscous salad n some grain salad, zaatar toast, phew!

What it definitely does is it fills you up. Everything tasted monotonous, nothing really stood out (maybe only the haloumi). There were too much grains and not enough mains.

Might try the banquet the next time.

We love this fabulous newish Brunswick addition. Can't count how many times we have visited. At lunch they serve totally vego plates piled with fresh salads, vegetables, falafels (crispy on the outside and soft/fluffy on the inside = perfect), dips and fried cheese. It can be tricky to get a seat on the weekend as the locals stream in...can't wait to return! We love this socially conscious cafe and deli.

My first taste of Moroccan and what a treat it was.

we were greeted at the door and taken to our seats. Another waitress asked us if we had any food allergies then explained we would recieve a plate of falafel cheese cous cous and sorts. This was a fantastic introduction to a cuisine I know very little about.

Every single part of the dish was an explosion of flavour, only to be intensified by an accompaniment of mint tea.

Does Moroccan get any better than this?

Just as her soup bar features superbly authentic Moroccan diner, her new Moroccan deli-cacy is outstanding. Once again, as with her soup bar, my wife and my best friend left this establishment with packed stomachs and a breezy, pleasant mood, matching the breezy, exquisitely laid back ambience of this brilliant new experience in dining.

The owner and staff go above and beyond to make your breakfast, brunch, or lunch the best possible outcome. We went there for lunch. However we arrived an hour early. So do you know what the owner did? She prepared and served us a whole veggie pizza, free of charge, just to see what we thought of it.

Definitely going back very soon!
Melbourne Food
Great food at the place. The food platter to takeaway and it cost $10 dollars. The platter is so filling and delicious, great value for money. Wasn't sure what to expect but really enjoyed it. I think this place is mostly vegetarian and vegan but as a non vegetarian I still really loved it. Will definitely return.
Giovanna Isabella
This was quiet the flavour experience. We got the food platter and as I was a novice to the place I just went along with it, not knowing what I had ordered nor what to expect. I was extremely happy and satisfied with the range and variety I got. Also if you're not a big fan of spice you may want to let the waitress know. Lovely decor and it has an authentic and homey vibe. An absolute must visit !

An interesting place to visit if you're in the area. Beautiful, small delicacy with Moroccan food. We had the food platter for $15. It's filling and well priced. I much prefer the food at Moroccan soup bar. Great service and atmosphere.

Breakfast or lunch, you're in for a feed. I'm a huge fan of the shakshuka for breakfast- the one meal where you actually get to choose what you eat! Not that that's a bad thing, the lunch plate is always generous and delicious. It's a beautiful space as well with sweeping open windows. The only negative would be the food can be quite oily. Not that it stops me from frequenting the place :)
Hospo Dude
Beautiful fresh flavours, bright and lifted spice. In short the food is authentic and made with love. Really like the sense of history and old school feel.
Sonja.adelle
Amazing value for such a delicious plate full of so many different flavours. I wish I had enough room to eat it all. Beautiful fit out too, I love the tiles.
Vonlutge
A mixed open plate with a MOUNTAIN of food for only $10-15??? That's insane. So much value for your money. Staff are attentive to dietary requirements and are down to earth! Froth from the bizarre yet beautiful upside down coffee melted in my mouth with their complimentary biscuit on the side! you can buy some nuts to snack on for the road on your way out! Such a great vibe! Love this new addition to Brunswick. Will be back!!
CrabClaws
Stopped in and had lunch today at MD! This place is amazing, the meal was vegetarian, which might not suit some. But the food was fresh and full of flavours! The meal was a tasting plate, which included dips, breads and a few salads! Will definitely be back!!
Catherine Jane
Super lovely & attentive service! Great coffee experience for those wanting to try something a little different. Shakshuka (pictured) was delightful but a slightly too oily for my liking so I couldn't get through the whole thing. Still very good experience all round! They even reposted my image on Instagram, which was great as I they appear to be very passionate about building up their fantastic little business, a welcome addition to Brunswick.
The City Lane
Moroccan Deli-cacy Brunswick East is the second venue from Melbourne food legend Hana Assafiri (of Fitzroy North’s Moroccan Soup Bar). Occupying the space that used to be home to Mirimar Nut Shop, Moroccan Deli-cacy retains more than expected from the original venue. It’s still a deli that sells a wide array of Middle-Eastern/Mediterranean products (most of which are made fresh on site) but the aisles of shelves have been replaced with seats and tables and a communal counter.
Chrissie Lee
AMAZING!!! Make it an early lunch though so you don't miss out on a taste of everything on offer. Best vegetarian food in the city. Should convince even the most hardened carnivore!
Jen Dorjee
This place is seriously delicious. As others have said, a huge plate of food, all fresh and delicious, with different tastes and textures, for $15. Wash it down with peppermint tea and a sweet biscuit. Want to go back tomorrow.
Havent left a cafe feeling this satisfied for a long time.
Henry Wells
You get a generous serving of very delicious, healthy and vegetarian food for $15. I love the simple one plate option, the food is faultless and can't be rivaled for value. I would choose this for brunch over most cafe's any day. The space, service and deli options are also terrific.
Laura Jayne
I love this place and make a point of coming here weekly. Everything is so fresh and tasty, you get a big plate of middle eastern fare (all vego, which is usually a turn off for me) for 15 bucks, and you get to sit there and people watch for a while, it's delightful. Everything's available take-away and you can still get your nuts, spices and middle eastern groceries like the old miramar.
Jeremy Hunt
Really tasty food. You get a plate of dips, baked vegetables and salads with felafel and haloumii. Fabulous. The half milk half coffee is delicious and the mint tea was delicious too.
Green Gourmet Giraffe
Moroccan deli-cacy may be the new kid on the block in East Brunswick but it has a rich heritage. It is situated in the old Miramar Nut Shop that was one of the first Lebanese mixed businesses in Melbourne. Now it is a cafe-cum-deli run by Hana Assafiri who has run much loved Moroccan Soup Bar. I am happy to report that the standards are every bit as high as the expectations.
