My fav Indian place. Food is amazing. Super friendly staff. Quick service. And the Garlic Naans are just the best! I've been coming for years. Thought I'd finally leave a review.
Very clean and tidy Indian food with a proper hygiene maintained by them as I am coming here since around last four years, never get any disappointment and food is really mouthwatering specially the butter chicken, Eggplant peshwari Lamb Rogan Josh and the main thing is the complimentary rice which is there with every curry for which I will rate the most as this is one of the best place to get Indian food with real Indian taste and staffs are very friendly with service is very quick as I compare with other places.
Great vegetarian curries, samosas, and naans! Amazing prices for portion size, and the staff are always really friendly. We pick up food here on the way home all the time.
Great place to be in, loved the food here and Hyderabadi chicken curry is so flavourful and garlic nan is so soft n crisp must visit and grab the curries
Its quite tidy place to be in and enjoy the food getting back to your home's dining table as it is only take away, loved the aroma and blends of spices and very friendly staff though!
What a little gem! Been coming here for 2 years. This place deserves a 5 star review. Delicious food every single time. The garlic naan and butter chicken are the best i've ever had! Plus the staff are super friendly.
Great Restaurant Mentions
+5
Great Indian food that’s cheap, tasty, and super yummy! Sometimes when you crave some curry, this the place I go to. Always spot on and curries are super delicious. I love spicy curry so the vindaloo is my favourite with some garlic naan! Highly recommended
Best indian i've ever had. Staff are super friendly. Service is quick. Food is tasty. Been coming here for years. Finally thought i'd leave a review
This place is awesome. Well priced and the food is delish. It’s a shame that I don’t live in the area anymore but I make the effort every now and again when I need my Singh’s fix!
Great place for take-away Indian with consistently good food. The butter chicken is great!
Food is reasonably priced, particularly the lunch special where a curry and rice is $7.50. Order preparation is very quick, and my orders are usually available for pick up about 15 minutes after I call.
Visited here recently with a few mates. We ordered the butter chicken, chicken korma, beef vindaloo and some naan bread. All the dishes were extremely tasty, but I have had more outstanding naan bread in other places.
Singh’s Indian Take Away is as it sounds. Being a little hole in the wall family run store, it offers everything that you could possibly expect, so if you come here looking for a good Indian feed, you can walk out knowing you’re gonna get it.
4.5/5 would definitely recommend for a nice, hearty meal.
Fantastic vegetarian!! The staff are so welcoming, polite, and systematic with their approach to filing orders. The kitchen looks incredibly tidy.
This place isn't the closest Indian to me, but we always order Indian food from here. Incredibly delicious and great value. There's no place to dine in so I'm glad we aren't too far that the food is still warm when we get home.
Eggplant peshwari
Saag paneer
Malai kofta
Garlic naan
Every. time.
(Need to add these words to make the word count but I don't think I need to say anymore cos Singh's is the bomb)
Been stopping in here for a few years now - and think it's very good.
For a small, unpretentious , hole in the wall place - it really delivers excellent fare.
Great selection of quality curries and extras at very reasonable prices.
Well worth a visit to pick up or have delivered.
Very delicious. Some people might accuse it of being bland but I find it is the type of flavorsome that you could eat it each day without getting sick of it. The only weak point so far is the garlic naan bread is so big vs the amount of garlic on it. 1 bread is enough for 2 people
Had heard this place was a 'Brunswick institution' and was slightly let down... Food was 15 minutes late for a pick-up order mid-week, 2 x butter chicken took about 45 minutes. It was v good BC but the garlic naan is poor, v poor tbh - good, but won't be running back
Without doubt the BEST indian cury joint I've found since moving to Aus 5 years ago. Service is fantastic. Food is delicious. Serving sizes are large.
Finally a place that doesn't charge you for rice!!!
(You have no idea how many times I've repeated that sentence since coming here).
Singhs only do takeaway, and although the place looks dingy on the outside, don't let that fool you. Always greeted with a smile when picking up these delicious curries, and the hit of flavor is very irresistible to my taste buds.
Portions are mammoth. You know those extra large takeaway containers? yeah, well that's what you get! full to top, for $14. It's a third of what you pay at any other Indian joint, for double the serving (and FREE RICE!).
I'm in love with the Beef Vindaloo mmmm it's so good, and because of this love affair, I can't bring myself to try anything else, I need to let this relationship fizzle out first before I move onto something new. My partner does love the Butter Chick. And I've also been told that the Eggplant Curry is a must.
Everyone must try this place.
Our family has been getting takeaway from Singh’s Takeaway for nearly 5 years and I can vouch that it is the best Indian Restaurant in the area. Their service is very efficient and friendly, at peak periods there can be a wait but this is because they are so extremely popular, and it causes us no inconvenience because we place a phone order and are given a time which might be 45 minutes but usually it's 15. The reason they are so popular is because the food is always fresh and excellent, not overpriced. All their dishes are good, however some I recommend are Butter Chicken, Lamb Roghan Josh, Malai Kofta, and they always make their Naan bread fresh in the Tandoor no matter how busy they are which is worth a few extra minutes wait. Now I am ordering online from their website and get notified via SMS for pickup time.
Best Indian I've found in Melbourne, the eggplant dish is to die for. Rice included when a main is ordered means I can splurge on some garlic naan bread.
10/10 best Indian food around and you get free rice so life's even better. The naan is godly and the curries are heavenly. There is no hunger this place can't satisfy. Never been so dead serious about curry before I want this served at my wedding and funeral. I would trade my firstborn for dinner here. I love Singh's with all my heart.
Would recommend: malai kofta, chicken korma and masala, as well as lamb masala.
Garlic naan>garlic bread #soznotsoz
~love a passionate Singh's admirer
When I heard about how timeless this place is and the number of followers it's amassed over the ages, I just had pay a visit.
Singh's is take away only and has rather vast menu.
I opted for the Chicken Masala, which just exploded of flavours, clearly a showing of how the recipe has been perfected over the years.
No doubt Singh's will be around for many more years to come and most likely out live most of us.
Love this place. Delicious meals!.. I could eat here ever night. The free rice and general price is just great. and of course the garlic Naan !!>.. Yum !
There is a reason this place has been open for 30 years. They provide great food at a decent price. It has easily become a favourite in the area and the food has been consistently good. They also provide free rice which is handy.
Been eating from here since I was little, a reliable family favourite. Awesome tandoori chicken, also can't go past the chicken korma and the pakoras! Oh and the mango lassi
Can't beat the complimentary saffron rice, and pretty good butter chicken and vindaloo dishes, the tandoori drumsticks are a good option. Best priced and value garlic naan bread I am aware of in the area. Also pretty nice when they offer a free papadam to kids.
When living in Carlton North, this place was our favourite; it's inexpensive, tasty and the servings are big. One Hyderabadi Chicken and two Tandoori Naan (Wholemeal Naan) will fill up even big-eaters (costs less than $18). Owners are from Punjab (North India) and they make really good North Indian dishes. Call them 15 mins in advance and you won't be disappointed.
Tried Singh's because the place I normally go to is shut on Monday's. Generous servings, especially the naan bread. Pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavours, will definitely keep it in mind for next time, could be a contender for my new favourite takeaway. Well priced too, Free rice? Don't mind if I do
The best Indian I've ever had. Have been going there for 20 years and recommend it to all my friends who love it too. My family have been eating from singhs for over 30 years - must try!!
A local institution with a loyal following, for what 25+ years? Family favourites: any meat from the Tandoor, Saag paneer, Malai Kofta, Mango Lassi. Quick and friendly and great quality for the price.
Good ol' reliable takeaway, cheap and simple, with free rice. The vegie korma is probably the best - grab a tandoori drumstick with it if you're a meatie
Yummy. I'm not a fan of North Indian but I love Daal Malchini and their Daal Malchini is usually the best I can get in Australia.
The best Indian take out ever! Order on the phone and you get your food in 10 mins. Good Curry Chicken Koma yellow rice and the tandoori has got just enough spice for the kick in your mouth! And in the end grab a mango lassi it's the best
Cheap and delicious. 9/10. Cheap and delicious.
I've had take away from here 5 times since arriving in Melbourne 3 weeks ago.
9/10 from me !
Get on that malai kofta!! Singhs is an old favourite. It is what it is, yum Indian take away no frills.
The best Indian food in Melbourne!. I am a huge fan of Indian food and this is seriously the best in Melbourne! I have tried many of the dishes here and I have never been disappointed.
Great vindaloo. After my usual Indian take out changed hands, I've been on the look out for a new eatery.
I had my first experience of Singh's last night. The customer service was very friendly, the price is good and food was ready in minutes.
I ordered the mulligatawny soup, chicken vindaloo and garlic naan. The soup was ok, not the best I've had. The vindaloo was fantastic. I'm a fan of this dish and it takes a lot to impress me. The only criticism is that the chicken was a bit fatty. Next time I'll try the beef. The naan was great and I was delighted at how big the serve was. Another bonus is that they throw in a large serve of rice with your main.
I'll definitely be back.
Highly recommended!. Singh's is great! I have been coming here for years and I have never been disappointed. It makes me sad to see people write bad reviews about this place - they have no idea what they are talking about! The serves are huge and full of flavour, the naans are enormous, the service is fast and friendly and it's well priced! If you haven't been, I highly recommend!!
Best Indian Take-away in town!. I love Singhs!!!! Have been getting my indian take-away here for almost a decade, and still nothing tops it! Got my regular saag paneer and garlic naan the other night and it was delicious as always! Clean shop, friendly staff, speedy service and most of all, delicious food every time. I don't know why there's a couple of bad reviews recently, I've never had a problem!?! Singh's is a Brunswick landmark. Thank you Mr Singh for always looking after me! :)
Indian perfection. This is some of the best Indian I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Im very fussy about dhal (the thinner soup variety) and this one is my idea of perfection. Excellent comfort food.
Yum yum. Awesome cheap takeaway Indian! So yummy and great value, highly recommend for a cheap night at home.
So glad this little gem is nearby. Enjoy the food and the service is great. Peering into the kitchen from the service area you can see that the place just functions well. Props to small business like this!
Yummy yummy yummy!!!. What can I say???
I am so so happy this is around the corner from us and we discovered it!
The take away is so SO good here and the servings are massive. Full of flavor and made so fresh. I have no complaints. amazing value for money, lovely people, lovely food!
We get take away from here once a week or two. So good!
Been searching for good Indian food for ages!! This place is fantastic and everything you want from Indian food. Fresh, hot, and tasty! Service was great and food worth more than we paid! Definitely going back!
Finally!. New to Melbourne and have been searching for a good Indian joint.
This place has everything you could want, great food, polite service, cheap as eats and the Naan's are freakin massive. Definitely going back!
If you want great tasting cheap Indian food with portions big enough for dinner AND lunch the next day then Singh's is for you. Recommend the butter chicken and kashmiri naan......oh and don't forget the delicious raita.
Delicious and cheap. I ordered naan, roti, pappadums, cauliflower pakora, chicken makhani and spicy fish masala. The service on the phone was really friendly and the food was ready in 10 minutes.
I'm mid-way through dinner writing this because I'm so happy with the food. The makhani is delicious and the naan thick and chewy and tasty.
I found the pakora batter too heavy and thick, and wouldn't order them again. The food is delicious and cheap and the service is lovely - including a free saffron rice with every main!
Awesome cheap food, very generous garlic naans.
Amazing Indian for a great price
Diamond in the rough. Been trying to find a nice Indian curry for a while. First time going here, after reading reviews. The que was going out the door (would recommend phone ordering)and we found the food to be yummy! Better than the Indian restaurants on Sydney road. The place doesn't look much on the outside, but inside is clean and you can see right into there kitchen preparing food. It taste proper Indian here, without the westernised additives to it. Do get medium to hot dishes rather than mild as can taste a tad bland. A little bit oily, but most indian is quite heavy. Garlic naan tad light on the garlic. Also tried the pakora (spinach & vegie) samosa and mango lassi which where nice. Prices for main dishes $10.70 - $12.50.
When we go again, will definately get one dish between 2 ( portions are generous) and get 1 naan between 2 ( the size of 1 naan is a tad smaller than A3 paper).
Still TOPS!!. THE best Indian in town. No1. It's been hard work finding a decent curry in Australia. Singh's have mastered the perfect Indian takeaway. Consistent, quick, rich in traditional Indian flavours, tender meat, smiley face.. And bonus you can see straight into their immensely clean kitchen. These guys are top quality. Definitely make the best Indian in Melbourne. Bang tidy!
We get takeout from this place regularly and it is always good. Highly recommend it!!
WINNER!. Hands down best Takeaway Indian ever! The Malai Kofta would have to be the tastiest indian dish of all time for me.
My boyfriend and I order regularly, we love the Samosas, they always taste fresh and are full of veggies.
One thing though, I think you need to order at least medium heat for the mildish dishes like the Butter Chicken and the Kormas they can be a bit bland otherwise. All in all cheap prices, friendly service...One of my favourites!!!!
Outstanding. Definitely the best curry in the north
Yummo. We regularly get take out from here - delicious! I love the Spinach pakora's! And, I can't seem to get past the dahl soup so haven't really tried anything else. My partner has tried various menu items and loves them all.
Only problem is, the garli naans are a alittle light on the garlic :(
Best Indian in Town. Have been in Melbourne 4 years, and haven't found any other place to surpass Singhs. Food to top noch, and well priced. Take away is always quick and easy. It may not look like anything special as your drive past, but it is truly one of the best places to grab an awesome meal.
Love this place.
If you didn't like it, you need Replacement Taste Buds.. Seriously the tastiest Indian Cuisine I've had in Melbourne. Reasonably priced, always ready in 15 Minutes, and they always deliver the freshest flavours without Flying over to Delhi. I'm sick of Aussies making Indian cuisine boring, and spice-less, so Thank you Singh's, for Keeping it real!
If your a bit of a snob when it comes to what a place looks like, close your eyes when you pick up your order :)
Best value indian in the north. I have been coming here with my family for over 10 years, always amazing food. great value too, my boyfriend and I got a main each with some rice a bread and barely ate half of it between us, easily enough food for 4 people in that. friendly staff to which is always big for me.
JJay. I have eaten at many many Indian restaurants and this one is by far one of the best. Brilliant food and will never disappoint
Great food every time!. Love this place. A favorite for takeaway in our family. Consistent quality, friendly service, flavours to savor. Try the chicken tikka. The best.
Best Indian food this side of the yarra! Cheap, quick, and best of all- all dishes individually prepared , friendly staff, and the food tastes delish- not too overladen with salt or sugar, fresh and brimming with flavour. You get to individually pick and pay for the chutneys. I still go here every time I go to the Northern suburbs. I've moved, but my heart is still at Singhs.
Phone Order is best.. I pickup takeaway from here every week on my way back from collecting my daughter from dance class. The food is cheap and cheerful, good flavours with many yummy condiments and breads. Phone order if you don't want to sit in the draughty shop.
