One of the finest or i should say the best indian food i have had in a very very long time owner chef ankur knows the real meaning of the word hospitality. The food, the service and the warmth they have it all. This resturant has all what it takes to become big.The afgani tikka, tandoori chicken, fish amritsari and the butter chicken took me and my memories to delhi the north indian food capital. For all foodies a must try place.Keep up the great work.
The food was fantastic, some of the best curries I've had. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys their food.
After a long time finally found an Indian restaurant that has best preparation of Curries and starters . Wish i could have the recipes
Heard a lot about this restaurant so drove abt 40 kms from west to restaurant and had amazing experience.
Loved the food, service, quality.
Absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy true Indian food.
Thanks to Punjabi by nature team.
Will come again for sure.
Best food in melbourne. Tandoori soy chaap is a must try dish they have. Highly recommended.
If you like butter chicken and cant find the real taste of north indian butter chicken, you gotta try these guys.
Punjabi by nature is the place if you expect a high standard in food and beverage with excellent service and ambience. They have clearly passed all my expectations and i am a real fussy with my food. Hope they maintain all these coz i am going there again and again. Good work guys- keep it up.
The food was simply exquisite .Fascinated by rapid service and polite, friendly staff, highly recommended to all the foodies down there, try this distinguish food junction peeps. U would love it
Quite possibly the best curry I have ever had, really fresh complex flavours. Lovely naan. Very friendly service. Will definitely be back.
Great food with the best service. No complaints. Keep it up Guys!
Was that time of month had to catch up with best mate. We decide to have Indian, was welcome in the shop. Had some help to choose off the menu by the staff. Will be back again very soon.
Delicious! So many vegetarian options to choose from.
Nice food and excellent service
Fantastic meal and service. I am a big fan of Indian food and this place does some fine choices.
Yummy food.. Excellent customer service.. And thanks for bringing in soya champs.. That were yummy too.
Friendly and helpful service and beautiful food! We will come back! :)
First Impression of this restaurant was amazing , the ambience seems to be inviting and nicely setup , they have good variety of dishes to offer , I was there with my friends and we ordered a lot of dishes and tried , we ordered Paneer/Chicken Tikka, Kadai Paneer, Naans and onion salad (For which most of the Indian restaurants charge if you know when you are in abroad) .
Trust me , the presentation of the dishes on the plate was outstanding ,no other Indian Restaurants in Melbourne, emphasise on presenting dishes on the plate like how these guys do , the taste is marvellous , two things they really need to work upon is their slow service making it into bit faster one as they take more than 20 mins for things to get ready and another important thing they could focus on is location as being in Brunswick, an old middle eastern people surrounded suburb makes them feels disadvantaged as they are not able to pull in crowd ending most of the time restaurant running almost empty during business hours most of the time but overall it’s a good experience and one special mention over here this is not the Punjabi by nature the one which you could find in the city of Bangalore and Delhi in India , it’s a seperate management and entity.
Ordered a paneer butter masala with saffron rice, naan and mango lassi. I had a late night craving for curry. That was the best curry I have had in a long time and I eat curry every week (also , I’m Indian) I only live up the street , I am so happy to have found my new local Indian restaurant! We will be back for sure !!!!
Really amazing food! Having dined in but from ordering the food is amazing. The couples deal is really worth it and actually feeds 4 people comfortably. The garlic naan bread is the best I’ve ever had. Definitely worth trying. All the curries are great and not overly spicy where it takes the flavour away.
Authentic Punjabi food and friendly service. The palak paneer was green and good, the dal tasty. The tandoori mushroom starter was a winner. Friends ate the butter chicken and said it was great. Good value!
This place is amazing! I got the vegetarian korma and it was incredible. The staff are all so nice and it's such a big space to bring friends. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic food and lovely staff.
A must try is the Afghan chicken
It was so tastu.
Somosas very nice too.
And good size servings of food.
Will definitely be returning
Definitely our new go-to! Delicious and fresh. Large serves too. Menu has the usual suspects which are all tasty, but there are also some slightly different curries I hadn't seen before. Hot tip: Samosas are giant, only order one serve per two!
Service is outstanding and food served quickly. One of the best Indian places I've been to in Melbourne.
Fantastic freshly cooked food. They have the standards which are great but on offer also are lots of alternative dishes and flavours. So much better than most.
Can't say it's the best Indian food I have ever had in Melbourne.....the food is half decent and easy going staff! The Goat curry was well cooked and the breads were well made!
Amazing and very authentic indian food! Nifty decor and generous quantities! One of the finest Indian restaurants around Melbourne!
Service was great and prompt. Went when it wasn't very crowded so can't say if it'll be different at peak times.
Hubby and I went for the first time on Valentine's Day for dinner. We loved it and I may even go as far as saying it's the best Indian restaurant we have tried in Melbourne (& we have tried a lot!)
Food was authentic, timely, well presented and the staff member that served us was very friendly and well informed on the dishes. We had the aaloo chaat (spot on Street food masalas), methi chicken, spinach and cheese koftas and gulab jamun. They even gave us cake to share as it was Valentine's Day.
I only gave it a 4.0 instead of 5 because they didn't have a dish available that I was really looking forward to trying (papdi chaat).
Look forward to coming back!
After several underwhelming curries in the Brunswick area I thought I'd give Punjabi by Nature a try.
The chicken tikka masala was absolutely top notch with really tasty, fresh ingredients and a decent amount of heat. Garlic naan was also outstanding.
Really happy I've finally found a quality curry house, as opposed to the flavourless slop I had come to expect from other Indian joints in the area. Excellent service too, would definitely recommend.
I usually don't write reviews but this place is doing such a good job! Thank you Punjabi by Nature for making delicious food, with quality ingredients without all of the oil that you see at other Indian restaurants. Tonight's meal reminded me of some of the curries we had in India, it's really hard to find authentic India in Melbourne! Keep up the good work 👍🏼
We enjoyed take away from Punjabi by Nature over a month ago and I have been wanting to post this since then. We found the food absolutely delicious. We had the Saag Paneer, Malai Kofta and Butter Chicken, all of which were very impressive. The service was great and they even threw in a free samosa order for us to sample.
I personally found the modern restaurant although very beautiful and impeccably clean, a bit cold and not so inviting, but I do prefer the more traditional and cozy Indian restaurants. I wonder if this is what other local East Brunswick people feel as I was surprised to see the restaurant not very busy on a weekend night. Maybe something to consider. However, keep your Chef cooking as the cuisine is very scrumptious and I have been an Indian food lover for many years.
Thanks very much and I look forward to sampling more of your dishes.
What a surprise. The best authentic Indian I've had in Melbourne for long time! Punjabi's serving sizes were great, full of ingredients and so fresh. We had the Lamb spinach ( saag) and Kadhai paneer ( cheese and tomato curry) Both light and fragrant. Indian restaurant food is commonly too stingy in size, too creamy and too rich. Punjabi wasn't any of that fortunately and we'll definitely come back again. The lady who served us was very friendly too. Hopefully this new place gets more customers and stays in the neighborhood for a while. We've ordered takeaway a few times and always prompt and friendly.
We are never disappointed when we order food from here. It's always so nicely balanced; not watered down and bland and not oily like many other Indian restaurants we've tried before. Just so good and tasty! Their spices and curries are so rich in flavour. Even the standard Butter Chicken is beyond amazing! No need for me to find any other Indian restaurant in Melbourne when I have this little treasure in the neighbourhoood. Thanks guys
Worth going here. Been to this restaurant with friends and ordered butter chicken, shahi panner and dal makhani. Loved every bite of food. Good quantity, perfect taste and rich in flavour.
I would say one of the best authentic indian food you can get in Melbourne. A class service, friendly staff, good location, and nicely decorated too.
I would Highly recommended anyone to go there.
Came here with the kids. Shekh kebabs for entree, followed by Butter chicken, lamb Korma and prawn tikka masala- the best we have ever had. Generous servings, (we had to take food home) food cooked to perfection, naan cooked well and the lovely waitress - Darcy was attentive, polite and was excellent at her job. Decor was not tacky and over done. We will definitely be back, and highly recommend
I've had takeaway from here twice now. Both times, the food was fantastically good. Lamb (Vindaloo) was super tender. Both the Lamb and the Daal Makhani had a depth of flavour and attention to detail that is rare among Melbourne Indian restaurants. The prices for mains are a few dollars more than Singh's, but the quality of the food easily justifies this.
Pickup and delivery were fast and easy. I see this becoming our weekly Indian takeaway place. I would even say it's - wait for it - better than Singh's (and this is from a long-term Singh's convert!).
Terrific restaurant and takeaway. The food is the freshest Indian food I have had in Australia. All the spices and vegetables were brimming with flavour and the meat not recooked. Standouts: Chicken Vindaloo Lamb Bhuna and Dal Makhani. The Nan was crisp and the rice perfect. This restaurant in Lygon st deserves to be well patronised.
Delicious fresh food, friendly service and great value. Some of the best curries we've had in Melbourne. The pick up only 'couples deal' for only $47 is a great deal. We'll be back again soon.
I've walked past this place a few times and wanted to try it, which a friend and I did before the movies. We were the only ones there earlyish Saturday night though a big table came in after we'd ordered. The food was good - but two criticisms: service was very slow, meaning we had to rush our main and had to pack half into takeaway containers, and it was cold. The waiting staff apologized for both - but neither would have been their fault! I'll try it again, but hopefully the wait won't be so long next time!
Amazing food and very friendly service. A definite must try. Very quiet but I have no idea why, this is a hidden gem which needs to be found. Tell everyone.
Absolutely delicious food everything we had was super tasty. It's a lovely cosy restaurant and the staff were really helpful and friendly! Will be def be back again soon! Have found my new fav local Indian place
Amazing Indian . Authentic Delhi menu , tasty and fresh. Staff was lovely and friendly . Great winter comfort food. Il be going back in a hurry.
We have been to Punjabi by Nature several times now! The food is consistently fresh and delicious! Hands down the best Indian in Melbourne ! Definitely recommend everyone to experience the amazing flavours and fantastic customer service!
A must try if you are looking for the real taste from the streets of New Delhi (India)
The restaurant has been open 4 months and is thinking and doing every thing possible to make your dining experience great
EDIT--they are open Tuesday's for all you can eat banquet now, just finished, it was great!--
ive been to all the indians around here, and surrounding suburbs. this one is the top of my list, and ive now become a regular. all the food here is top notch. i like spicy and it really delivers on that. the table next to me said they wanted it very mild, overheard them say before leaving that 'it wasnt hot at all and was beautiful'. there tou have it, why go anywhere else! i cant fault it so has to be full marks
Really great food. Fresh and tasty. Have eaten at the restaurant and had takeaway. Impressed both times. Standout dishes - vegetable samosas, tandoori chicken, palak paneer, chicken tikka, dhal and not to forget one of the nicest naans I've had in awhile. Am looking forward to next time as there are many more tasty things on the menu. I recommend PBN to anyone who enjoys good quality Indian food at a very reasonable price.
We've had take away twice, both times excellent, fresh and really tasty, nice generous servings. The place was a bit empty but it was a Sunday night. We really hope these guys do well!!
Had dinner there last night with friends, the food was fantastic and very well presented , the service excellent. I hope they do well
Will definitely go back
One of the better named restaurants I've ever heard has great food, wonderful service and a nice atmosphere. My girlfriend and I have meant to visit for an age and we had an even better time than we expected. Our vindaloo was particularly lovely and we look forward to trying more of the menu soon. The ambience was a charming mix of blue light, class and comfort. Particularly liked our waitress who was down to earth and fun. Warmly recommend a visit!
This is a great new curry joint. The food was delicious and cheap and the service was lovely with very sweet staff and owners who genuinely want to please. I really hope they do well as the front of the restaurant doesn't stand out on the street. Give it a try if you're in the area. I sent friends there and they've now been twice in a week.
Thick curries, packed full of delicious ingredients. Place was empty when I picked up my takeaway as they're new but they deserve loads of customers. I think it might be the best curry house in Brunswick.

I ordered delivery via menulog after reading that they had many vegetarian menus. I ordered a number of items and also indicated I was vegan. I immediately received a phone call telling me some items weren't vegan, but he had found substitutes for me. It was so thought out and kind, excellent customer service! and the food was AMAZING! The soy sticks were so good. And the fried sandwich is like something out of a hungry dream and was so tasty and different! 100% recommend to all, especially vegans and vegetarians!
Gorgeous food. My partner and I both have complex dietary restrictions which were met for both of us. The staff were very kindly, understanding and helpful. Delightful
This was our second visit to this newcomer to a difficult site. The restaurant doesn't have a big presence on the street though P by N have tried to address that with semi private booths at street level. The food is exceptional - both times we've been. And the prices are very reasonable. The service is a little bit fawning - they're very keen to make a good impression. That said, they're very attentive, and friendly.
The food's freshly cooked with great flavour in all curries. Garlic naan was freshly cooked, crusty on the edges with a nice garli pasty centre. Now they've got their wine licence, it's an even better option. There's very little good Indian in this part of Brunswick, so we're hoping it gets traction.
Fabulous curry, friendly service and delicious naan. Welcome new addition to this end of Lygon St. Will definitely be going back for seconds.
Opened Valentines Day lovey family run place. Great food , good portions, worth going to meet the lovely waitress Nadia. Nice addition to that end of Lygon Street. Will recommend to others and look forward to going back soon
Went to this new Indian restaurant for the first time today. Great food, fantastic service and a nice local eatery. Definitely worth a look.
This place has changed owners in the last month or so and it's now also a Shisha lounge. We had some of their vegan options and loved them
Delicious takeaway. Sorry to be a cliché whitey, but delicious butter chicken and the best lamb rogan josh around. Naan is good and onion bhaji are also tasty. Tge service is also friendly. Not the cheapest Indian, but still not expensive, and definitely worth the money. I've also dined in (pre-covid) and it had a nice atmosphere. When I've gone back for takeaway, less so, but hopefully with proper re-opening, it'll build the atmosphere again.
North Indian restaurants are so common that they can be hard to differentiate some times. But this place really stands out. I had the chicken vindaloo extra spicy as I feel this is a good measure of a a North Indian place. It was absolutely outstanding. The vegetable curries were equally fantastic. I will be coming back again and again for their curries.
