Review Quarry Hotel - Brunswick East

The Parma here is defs in my top 5 of the best I’ve ever eaten! It is a monster, it is not a good idea to buy starters before tackling this guy, best to skip lunch so you can fully enjoy the experience. Heaps of street parking around and food didn’t take long to come out either. Will be back for more parmas.

A huge thank you to Stephen Kyriacou and staff @The Quarry Hotel for going above and beyond making our wedding the celebration we dreamed of. Thank you also to Mark & Young Henrys for your awesome music. I highly recommend The Quarry for any event, as they do an awesome job and they will make your celebration lots of fun.

Great local pub for a feed and a few drinks to start off the night, great location and easy to get to ... love this place

Nice and friendly pub with Belgian beers on tap 🙌🏻, no fuss no frills and good service while watching the footy !

A lot of the other bars/pubs in the area were fairly small and could not accommodate a larger group. The Quarry Hotel was able to fit all 22 of us. The staff was helpful and we were able to enjoy a few drinks together. They also had many tvs showing the footy and F1

Usually good. Wanted a Bloody Mary, but paid 16 dollars for a tomato juice when they had no tobacco or spices. Didn’t tell me til after I paid. Lame.

Great pub experience! I had not visited in a while. I took Mum out to lunch after a day at Moomba. Fresh and generous food servings and professional service. Made up for 400 Gradi denying us entry to outdoor dining. We had CoVid vaccination certificates and proof at hand. I nearly fell off my chair, when I was charged $7.00 for a pot of Heineken. Scott Morrison & Anthony Albanese, can you please review the Excise system. Beer is quintessentially Australian and a social outlet for many.

⭐️ Good food ⭐️Great drinks ⭐️Excellent service Undoubtedly one of the best local pubs in Brunswick. The famous Parma is one of the best in all of Melbourne and huge too!!!! It’s like a whole chicken breast crumbled fried and baked with gooey cheese and awesome sauce. There no way I can finish that unless I spend under 1.5 hours on it, which is in itself good as it would give me more time to enjoy the delicious tap beers.

Best place in Melbourne to dine .lovely staff and great management.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff!

I enjoyed a nice drink here on a sunny afternoon, as did quite a few other patrons. The outdoor area was packed, and people were happily sitting beside the large, open windows. This traditional pub sits on a great corner location and is easy to find.

The area indoors is large and separated into several areas by a large bar in the middle. Seating is great, and there are several tvs showing sport, and a small stage area where I presume live music is played. The bar staff were friendly, and our drinks were made quickly. There is a good selection of drinks, and their happy hour deals sound great too. I really liked the vibe of this pub, and would happily return.

A lovely bar located in Brunswick was open and inviting! Some great deals on the beers and cocktails. The service was good and drinks delivered 👌

Loved the building so called in for a pre dinner drink. A little on the quiet side but it was only just after 6pm. I really liked this pub... perhaps a little blokey KD suggests but a good honest venue and some gigs advertised on the door. They had little creatures and a few more and less interesting ales on tap and a selection of gins. Tonight was burger night but I didn’t quite seem that the special was that special if prices on the menu on Zomato are still up to date. Wish I had somewhere like this on my side of town between the train station and home.

We met friends here for pretty drinks before going out to dinner up the road. Thankfully it was happy hour when we arrived. House wines were $5 and selected beer $6. We ordered drinks and sat by the TV. The luv was busy, has a lot of seating, its clean and staff are friendly.

Randomly walked into this pub, was pleasantly surprised. Nice vibe, warm, and tvs next to you, behind you and infront of you to watch the footy!! Nice staff, and personally I don't mind watching the chef cook my food! Wouldn't rave about the food (only tried one thing) but such a nice place to drink and play pool! Check it out!

Great food, great service and very reasonably priced. We were walking up Lygon street looking for some where to eat that wasn't going to cost a weeks wages when we spotted this pub. All 3 of us were very happy with our choices of food. All the young staff were very friendly and helpful! Try the mixed grill $22.00 for so much food. Also they serve very god coffee................

Nice clean bar, friendly staff and never have to wait for a drink. Everything is reasonably priced and happy hour is as cheap as it gets. Hard to fault.@

Went with a group of 8. First meal came out after 40 mins and then that person was finished before the next one arrived. Last meal came out 65 minutes after ordering and the place had hardly anyone in it. I wouldn't mind waiting so much if the food was good but it wasn't even close. The meat in the burger I had was more filler than meat and the chips were cold. Worst meal I've had in a very long time.

How could I not like this place? I tried my first kangaroo steak here! It was slow cooked and served with mashed potatoes and veggies. Soooo good. The drink/food specials are great.

The mixed grill - OMG! We went for a quick Monday night bite to eat and it was fabulous. Between the 4 of us we ordered parmas (perfectly good but not exceptional), burgers (fabulous home-style feel), and the mixed grill (minus the toast - being carb-conscious), which was so freaking huge I farmed out half of my plate to my friends and still had plenty left over! For a whisker over $20 it was also excellent value - would definitely go back. Mixed grill is ideal for two hungry girls to share. The staff were super attentive, although the food did take half an hour to come out.

We walked in not expecting anything flash. So it was a pleasant surprise that the food and the atmosphere was so good. Highly recommend this pub for a great night out.

A fantastic Burger and Steak sandwich. The staff were great.

Never again. Unsure how this place survives. Ordered the rump steak and as I was standing at the bar heard the sizzling of a grill. Looked around and there, right at the bar was my steak being cooked. Whoever owns this place should knock the place down. Would be more useful as a pile of rubble than a pub. Worst place I've been to ever. Cheers

Gotta be the worst place in Melbourne. Foods cooked right where the bar is and staff struggle to comprehend basic parts of life such as cutlery and how to spell the word Cajun. Close the place down for the sake of the human race

Great Local. Great local to have a drink!

Poor. Terrible food, was cold, took 50mins. Don't go there

OMG WHAT A GREAT HOTEL!. It's a great hotel with really great food and service!

Old hipster style with huge servings of great quality food. The pub has a hipster style old rundown appearance but unless your a pompous liberal you will love it. The staff are friendly and the food is terrific with generous servings. I can honestly say it's my favourite pub to eat in Melbourne and it has the best chicken parma's as they use a real butterfly breast, serve wedges instead of chips and the side salad is like what you'd expect from a quality restaurant. The meal was so big i couldn't finish it and i am a big eater.

Great Local... Live locally and come to the quarry often... Service is always great and food is extremely value for money

Rude staff. For months we treated this as our local after stumbling upon it during a long weekend walk. We liked the convenient location and we liked the atmosphere. We put up with the unfriendly, rude North American (blonde now brunette) barmaid / waitress who never cracks a smile or says hello, even when we've been there 2 or 3 times in one week. We put up with the rest of the moody, friendly one day, unfriendly the next, staff.

The unfriendliness of the staff has become worse and worse, and frankly the food, ranging from under-cooked to burned, isn't good enough. Also, the menus are like currency: as soon as you order 1 thing from the menu they remove the menus from the table without asking if you want anything else. Way to make people feel welcome. If you like the barman's kids running free knocking into patrons' chairs and tables, screaming at the top of their lungs while you're trying to have a relaxing drink, to get away from your own screaming kids, then this place is for you. More like a McDonalds "family restaurant", than a pub.

Can't even get garlic bread right!. Dry, minimal garlic, yuck. Thought they could at least get that right.

-----22 Sep, 2014-----

I'm sure the food is microwaved!. Terrible! Has put me off going to the pub in gereral!

Mr Nice Guy. Great Place to have a meal and drink with your mates

Upgrade your Foxtel!. Love coming here for the footy & some grub, but for a footy pub, you need to upgrade your Foxtel to HD!! (even if only on the big screen)
Food is pretty standard pub fare but tasty enough
Nicholas
Great food, great service!!. This is a hidden treasure... Great food and service!!!

Mmmm while the alehouse is across the road this pub will always be outdone. Has potential but needs a lot of work. Poor form for lygon st would not go back

Cheap and tasty feed. The Quarry is your classic local pub - full of woking class, and down to earth locals.
The food is super cheap, and tasty.
Service is friendly, and beers are cheap.
A good place for a quick meal when the back balance is running low!

Needs Rejuvenation. As a local I come here a bit for a drink, I've eaten here a few times and always been dissapointed. The last meal I had was the scabbiest serving of the Roast of the day. It must have been the last serve of the day (6pm?) and consisted of 3 paper thin slices of roast, mash and some veggies. I don't see myself eating here unless they put in a decent kitchen.
You reckon with all the apartment developments in the area the owner would snaz the place up a bit. It is very daggy.
James
Decent, daggy pub. The Quarry is a decent, daggy, slightly old-fashioned pub that is great for a quiet drink on a Sunday afternoon. The food is tasty and the servings huge. The roast of the day came with 5 slices of beef, mashed potatoes and a pile of vegies and the Quarry burger is outstanding.
Andrew Faulkner
Great down to earth venue. Great place to go if you want a relaxed enviroment to go to for a good sized meal, friendly staff and a pub atmosphere. The staff and the food are both good. No poker machines either which made a family gathering a good experience.
KP
Decent pub grub

Disappointed. As a local felt I should give my neighbourhood pub a go.Our expensive, when you looked at the poor quality, dinner looked like it had come from a microwave pre cooked parcel.Won't be going back, too many better pub options abound.
Parma Daze
I was pleasantly surprised when the food hit the table. The parma was sizable, thick, juicy, and had the most fantastic looking home made crumbs I’ve seen in quite some time (without confirmation I’d say they were literally made by blending bread, spices and baked in the oven. fantastic). The whole dish came out on a massive square plate with paprika sprinkled in the corner as a garnish, it looked quite impressive, and Reviewer Pat, who had tried the parma at the Quarry once before said that it wasn’t at all like the parma he had eaten previously, this one looked a lot better.
