Decent quality fish and chips. Great fish and souvlaki are on point. Chips and potato cakes solid. Really need to improve their dim sims though. Chien Wah for your standard dimmy and please don’t advertise South Melbourne Dim Sims if they aren’t the genuine item, fake South Melbournes are ordinary... 5 stars if you improve your dim sims!!
I ordered fish and chips with two potato cakes via uber eats. The fish was cooked perfectly although I would have liked it to have been a bigger piece, but there was a huge amount of chips. The potato cakes were slightly too cooked but still delicious. I would definitely order again.
I dont normally review places but this has to be said... I get fish and chips from The Brunswick Fish and Chippery quite often and am never disappointed. The staff are friendly and are always working hard. The manager takes pride in the cleanliness of his shop, the quality of his food and from time to time adds some surprises to the menu (home made ice cream yum!) The food is always delicious especially the souvlakis. I've had to place some really large orders from time to time and the food is always hot, fresh and accurate.

I’ve been here twice now and To be honest I think it’s the best fish and chip shop in the area by far, including Essendon and Brunswick, Pascoe Vale.
I’ve had the gym pack, delicious. Also had grilled barramundi and blue grenadier which was fresh and tasty. Plus the potatoe cakes here are the best by far.

Probably my favourite place to eat at the moment great food and nice people that work there I come here at least once to 3 times a week, it’s that good, you will not be disappointed.
Called for a pick up on Easter Friday and the service was quick (only 20 mins on such a busy night). Food was still warm by the time we got home. Chips were super crispy, and seasoned well. Potato cakes were thin and crunchy, and same with the onion rings. This has been some of the best fish and chips we have had in ages!! Amazing!!
I live in the area and i love this place. The staff are kind and welcoming, the vibe is great and the food is fantastic for what you pay. I always default to the $10 Meal Deal. The Lot Burger, Chips & Drink. But i pay extra to upgrade my chips. Theyre that good, especially in a chip sandwich.
We get a burger n chips or grilled fish, dimi's n potato cakes once a week here. We have tried most of the menu items. No ugly suprizes. The ony issue is you have to check your ordet ss we have been short the steamed dim sims a couple of visits. Good food, Good price and friendly service.
Been here 3 or 4 times now since moving into the area. Can't fault them at all. A great, varied menu. The seafood pack for $16 is great value, their grilled seafood is up there with the best I've ever had from a takeaway fish and chip shop.
If you're after good old fashioned takeaway, you can't go wrong with this place.

Having read other people's reviews, I would like to confirm that this place has changed hands in the last few months.
The old owners provided a great quality fish and chips experience. The new owners took over and (before they did their renovations) were serving the poorest quality fish and chips I've ever experienced - fish was raw, serving sizes were tiny and the overall quality was terrible. When they were approached about the poor quality, they were rude.
Since that time, they have renovated and have also upped their game with regard to food quality. We now eat from here reasonably regularly and generally order the value packs.
My only negative remark (which is probably true of most services nowadays) is that the serving sizes aren't as generous as they could be.
I've been to this little local twice in the last few weeks and gotten good food both times. The batter is crispy, oil used is obviously fresh, and chips are nice and crunchy. Pricing and service are also good. Not the best I've ever had, but it's nice to have a reliable local takeaway option.

Crispy and fresh. It seems like the change of ownership is relatively new - as of this year. I can't compare the previous version compared to the new, as this was my first visit. I often drive past and noticed even on a week night there seemed to be a lot of cars outside, and a lot of people inside.
My interest piqued, I stopped past on a cold winter Friday night, feeling that if I can justify fish and chips, it's on a night like that.
I liked the fact that the shop was spacious and clean. I liked that you couldn't smell oil at all when inside. I liked that there was lots of seating and even though the obligatory TV was on, it wasn't blaring. I liked how the menu was varied and I could order a fish 'n' chips for one which was just the right size (for $7, under the 'snack packs'. I can never finish the full serve of chips when you order the 'standard' size and it always seems excessive and wasteful). I liked how you can see right into the kitchen/fry area. I liked how efficient they were (note to self, in future call ahead as it was busy!). I counted 7 staff running a pretty tight ship. And finally, I liked how they offer free wi-fi (without having to ask for a password) so you can browse the interwebs while you wait.
I liked it all and had moderate order envy when the man next to me ate his burger while I was waiting for my flake 'n' chips with chicken salt older. It looked good (I was stealing glances) and smelt awesome.
The only thing I didn't like was the salad display - I originally thought I would order a salad but the three on offer looked dry, limp and unappetising. Maybe they need to make smaller quantities more often, particularly for the Friday-night-rush.
My order was ready in about 12 minutes and survived the short drive home. The batter was beautifully thin and crispy. Not like tempura but not the thick glug you often get and the local fish 'n' chippery. The fish was a good size and nice and juicy. The chips has excellent crunch and the amount of chicken salt was just right.
This is definitely the best fish n chips in the local area and I'm glad to have it as a local.
New owners have made such amazing changes from what it was before. They changed the batter and oil from what I can tell its definately made a huge difference and they have also done a major renovation the place is so much cleaner and brighter. They have also put in a dine-in facility which is great, its more comforting eating in a place thats clean and looks good. Not just that the batter was light yet filling and the chips werent drowned in oil like the previous owners. Head on down absolutely delicious food. Oh and they have a new salad bar with salad that is so bloody good I ate mine and my husbands. Would definately recommend to everyone!
Great fish and chip shop. I'm a local and have lived near by for many years. I'm a bit of a health nut so I generally stick with grilled fish rather than anything that's been deep fried. As far as your local fish and chip shop goes you can't go wrong with magarita's.
Had heard about this place from a few friends and finally got around to trying it yesterday. Best 'old school' fish n chips I've had in so long. The older guy behind the counter was smily and chatty. He was horrified when I asked him what brand of chips he used - he still cuts his own chips!! Has done for 45 years. The potato cakes were huge, and the fish was just delish. My partner had the double cheeseburger and he can't stop thinking about it - clearly we'll be back there again soon!
Service and food are excellent. Always made to feel welcome and they really serve you as a friend more than a customer.
