Review A Minor Place - Brunswick

Toby Halligan
Delightful little cafe in Brunswick. Excellent food and staff - menu is great and the coffees fabulous too. Outdoor seating is perfect for watching the numerous pooches wander past. Can get busy so worth booking with a big group.

A cool space. A feel and layout to the cafe that nicely matches the neighbourhood location. Variety in the space, with benches, tables and chairs, bench seats with cushions, and outdoor tables. An example of the attention taken to the space is a huge square table with bench seats that supports large green pot plant to potential offer relatively private seating to multiple groups. There’s also a cool little hole in the wall for footpath takeaway service. The menu made deciding on food a difficult decision. But cauliflower and poached eggs lured me into the Turkish breakfast. A regretful choice unfortunately. A pretty and colourful presentation but only 4 bits of little cauliflower to accompany a very buttery sauce. The bread was good and pomegranate seeds were a nice touch but this wasn’t really enough to overcome the oiliness and the bowl of runny textures. I found myself really eyeing the quinoa, pumpkin and rocket salad bowl.

Awesome Brunswick vibes at A Minor Place 😎 Had the bubble and squeek recently and loved the richness of the dish and something a lil different for breakfast. Nice innovation on that one. Nice coffee. Intimate but cool feel amongst lovely period homes in the neighbourhood. Nice job guys 👌 Edit - tried the chilli prawn scramble - straightforward but could have used a touch more salt and spice. Good if you want a milder menu item though. Club sandwich was nice and fresh with crispy waffle fries, yum! Edit edit!: Grabbed the club sandwich (again) and steak sandwich. Massive serve which led me to take half home for a dinner special! Tasty, however the steak sandwich is a touch on the sweet side for my tooth.

We had a lovely meal at A Minor Place this Sunday. We have come on and off for over two decades. The menu is just as good, if not better than when we started coming. This weekend, I had the Minor Brekky, my partner had the Okonomiyaki. Both were excellent - fresh, hot and delicious. Some tips for eating here on the weekend: It is super busy and there is often a line up between 10-11. Given current conditions I would recommend booking a table to reduce wait time. Also, as there are a lot of people waiting to be seated, the staff told us they would prefer us not to hang out and use laptops during a busy period. Be prepared to eat and go on a public holiday, Saturday or Sunday morning. There is also tons of seating but this means the staff are absolutely run off their feet. Be prepared to wait a little to receive your coffee and food orders.

A gem! Gorgeous little Cafe, delicious food. The menu had way too many delicious options and was hard to decide. We all left with full bellies and happy

nice little Cafe, nice staff good food, average prices, recommend and will happily visit again

The food was delicious! Really tasty fresh ingredients cooked well. Only one thing I think they could improve on is having sharper knives, like steak knives. The butter knifes have trouble cutting through the toast. Food and atmosphere is top knotch though. Feels like you've cooked yourself a nice breakfast at home and you're sitting out on your balcony or backyard eating it.

My partner and I love going here - We have been for 8 years now and always perfect coffee, delicious food/pastries and cool, kind staff. Such a cool place to sit for hours and read, chat and just be out of the city. One of the best hidden gems in Melbourne.

Wonderful service, very busy Australia day PH, staff apologised coffee would be a bit of a wait. Delivered food and coffee on time. Food was delicious, coffee is devine. I will be back.

Amazing food & Coffee, In a cool old home :)

Best staff, best food, best place to study or meet up with mates. Love love love.

Super buzzy cafe in the heart of alt-Brunswick. The Cajun tofu sandwich I had was delicious, something pretty unique on a brunch menu. Lovely service as well.
Meg
Vegan and dog friendly cafe with great coffee, friendly staff and good food though my meal was (in my opinion at least) overpriced. I had the cajun tofu toasted sandwich and at $17.50 it seemed about $5 more than what I’d expect. For that I’d expect a small side salad or chips but it was fairly basic. You can get an equally delicious jaffle at Union Kiosk for $9. The vegan mudcake I took away was delicious and good value at $5. My friend had an egg on toast and it was as ordered. She only wanted one piece of toast and we were told it wouldn’t change the price. I don’t make many changes to dishes so I’m not sure if this is standard but it was disappointing to hear. I’d return for coffee and cake and the good vibe.

Cosy atmosphere and the best brunch food. Staff are not always friendly but never stuff up the order. Great coffee and the beans are to die for.

Amidst a hub of over designed hipster cafes, I love the rustic vibe of a Minor Place. Vintage fixtures, stained glass and well-chosen art lay the perfect backdrop for a coffee, cocktail or meal. My hot soy flat whites are always great thanks to Industry Beans and skilled baristas. I also appreciate the consistent vegan sweet options and adaptable menu.

A nice cafe with plenty of indoor and outdoor seatings. Gets busy on the weekends and can be difficult to get the attention of the staffs. But the service is good and quick. The breakkie was delicious and the coffee was awesome (industry beans). 10% surcharge on weekends and public holiday.

Discovered this joint recently on a dog walk. Had the tofu sanga for brekky. Came back and had it again for lunch. This joint ticks all the boxes.
Julia Ward-walton
Food was good and service was nice enough but the iced coffee is shameful. Ordered an iced latte for $5 and was given a normal latte with some ice in it. Basically, I was charged $5 for a 3/4 latte with ice. Not ok.
The Gluten-Free Foodie
Great laid back ambience, lovely baristas and yummy coffee. Wins all ‘round. Not heaps of gf options. Well rounded menu regardless. I like the local setting.

I love this spot - not pretentious at all (of course, it’s brunswick ☺️), the food is genuinely delicious and the cafe is set up in this cute old house. Get the pumpkin, feta and kale breakfast - yum!
Melbourne Food Lover
Loved it. Really nice outside space, very casual. I've been living around the corner for one year and glad I finally tried it. The food is great, really good portion size if you're hungry. The reason why I didn't give you 5 stars is because I'd like a more attentive service. Maybe it was just a busy Sunday morning which I can understand. Keep up the great job anyway
Sarah Perri
Beautiful food! We tried the poke bowl with salmon and the blueberry and ricotta pancakes. The pancakes were amazing! They were very sweet, so my boyfriend couldn’t finish them. Which was good for me because after I cleaned up my meal, I got to finish his 😋
J0yy173
Fresh back from overseas, my tastebuds were craving the fusion offerings of Melbourne's cafes, so this was a good spot to satisfy just that. While I remember their blueberry and ricotta hot cakes fondly, today I chose the poké bowl.

On a bed of multi-coloured rice lies a delicious combination of sweet potato, edamame, pickled carrot and ginger, seaweed salad, cucumber, spinach, lightly seared salmon topped with wasabi mayo and coriander. The fresh and wholesome ingredients made for a healthy but filling lunch. The big hot chocolate was half froth but used quality chocolate.

Staff are super friendly to the regulars but forget the not so regulars a little. Still it's a cosy space in the neighbourhood to hang out or grab a yummy bite to eat.

Made our way here a while back and tried the chilli crab omelette. It was so good that we went back a second time for more! We enjoyed our coffee as well. No wonder the place is always bustling with people...

I've been here a few times and the coffee is very inconsistent. The last time I ordered a takeaway coffee I had to wait 20 minutes for it. I wouldn't have cared if the wait was worth it, but it wasn't. I ended up pouring my coffee down the drain. It was incredibly watery and bitter with hints of sweetness from the sugar I requested to be in it. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to ask for another one because I ended up being late returning to work....I've probably only had two decent coffees here. And again, I didn't have time to notify you guys because it took ages to get it and I had to madly dash back to work..only be late...

Anyway, I get that it can be super busy and it might take a little longer to get your coffee. But please advise if there is going to be a delay. If I would have known all those times I had to wait for ages, I wouldn't have ordered here. I don't think I'll be coming back here as I've legit spent hundreds of dollars in the Brunswick/Moreland area on crap coffee (and on places that have high tomato/google ratings?).

The interior of A Minor Place is pretty cute though.
Hello. Imnikki
On the recommendation of Timinmelbourne, who took the advice of Brew Hunter, A Minor Place was our chosen place to catch up for weekend brunch. The cafe was packed, which understandably led to a bit of a wait for our food. Luckily the company helped eased the wait.

One of our coffee orders were mixed up, and my latte was a bit hot, but the rest of our coffees were faultless. The food definitely made up for the slightly bumpy start. Portion sizes were very generous, and the flavours were spot on.

The simple ham and cheese toastie was delicious. Gooey cheese sandwiched between two slices of crisped and soft bread. The fresh chillies in my chilli mushroom lent a satisfying piquancy to the dish, and the poached eggs were a picture perfect example of yolk porn.

The wait staff were all very lovely and accommodating, and when combined with the excellent food and the charming setting of a cafe located in a suburban house, A Minor Place is a perfect place to experience Melbourne's cafe culture.
Timinmelbourne
I was looking for a nice place to have some brunch w some good coffee and Brew Hunter recommended this place. So my partner and Hello. Imnikki her partner headed over to this cafe.

The service was good, but hit n miss w our order.

But the food was amazingly good. Tasty fresh ingredients and good sized servings. This place was rocking and it was not hard to see why.

A large range of vegan options were available so VeganeatsM you would love this place.

The coffee was good too, I had a strong skinny latte and a piccolo. Both hit the mark.

Parking was easy, the staff friendly and attentive, that combined w some great food, coffee, and company set me up for a perfect start to my weekend.

This place is definitely worth a visit.
Scott
Great relaxed atmosphere with very good selection of food with something to interest most people. The coffee was also good with a wide selection.

This place was probably one of the first cafes to put Brunswick on the breakfast/brunch map.
Good variety of food and a specials board that changes regularly. I love the Henrys white beans. So creamy and garlicky they taste delicious. Other faves include the mumbler and the avocado toast with Haloumi.
Zarah Garbrah
Beautiful food and service every time. The tofu pide is so delicious among the range of vegan options and the coffee is great too. Cozy outdoor seating as well
Ruth Cathcart
Excellent menu with lots of choice and variety. Service was attentive and friendly. Cute space with plenty of outside spots and doesn’t feel crowded. Food was fresh and tasty and portion sizes were decent. Delicious coffee! Will definitely return here and recommend as a regular spot.
Melbourne Epicure
A Minor Place is great. I love this little café. Our first time here was actually many, many years ago when they still opened at nights as a tiny tapas-style restaurant. We loved it then but they have since shifted into a brunch-only kind of place. Since then though, we’ve been here a couple of times. The last time was just this weekend and I was very pleased. Made me realise I should come here more often (especially given it’s so close to home). Their coffee was very good. The service is friendly and the place itself is cute (in a simple and rustic, Brunswick kind of way).

For our meals, Paola ordered the New York bagel (sans the smoked salmon… I know, right?), which came with avocado, dukkha, lemon and a dill-and-caper cream cheese. The bagel itself was very nice. The avocado was ever-so-slightly overripe but all the other bits were very good. I ordered the Open Corned Beef sandwich which was excellent! The bread was nicely toasted. The Corned Beef was super delicious and with enough molten Swiss cheese over the top, delicious thin slices of (home-made looking) pickles, a careless drizzle of the not-really-spicy-but-still-tasty Sriracha mayo and then crowned with a nice, slightly-crispy-edged sunny-side-up fried egg with an oozing yolk. And then, a side of a super, super fresh apple slaw (with cabbage and tiny and delicious bits of red onion) that cut beautifully through the fattiness of both the cheese and the mayo. I really could not get enough of it. I will be back. I will have that sandwich again. Highly recommended.

So overrated and overpriced. The people who frequent here are very clicky and the staff can be pretentious. Most of the meals are quite bland and not particularly filling.
David Minett
Best veg breakfast I have had. Fried halloumi and mushrooms were great but everything on the plate was good. Solid coffee and nice vibe. Decently priced.
Hightealover
Really cosy inside and super friendly staff. Been there three times. Try the breakfast beans!! Really good veggo options. A good place to catch up with friends.
Luna Chyld
Cute little cafe in a nice quiet spot on Albion Street that is still super close to the trams. The food is always delicious, the coffee is fantastic and the staff are always lovely (and just so incredibly pretty!!!). Perfect place for a quick coffee or a meal.
Henry Adams
Nice cosy cafe, would make a great local. Meals are very generous sizes and not pricey at all. Coffee was great too. Tofu sandwich is highly recommended..
Yume Yume
The menu is delicious, making my choice of what to have was so so hard, I even had to ask for a recommendation from the waitress who kindly pointed me towards the pumpkin on toast. On a somewhat average weather day like today I think that was definitely the right choice. It was really tasty, not overly heavy and very decently priced. Coffee was also really nice so big big ticks on the food front.

The staff were also very friendly and the space inside was cozy, cute and quite.

Overall very pleased with my lunch here and I will definitely be returning to try basically everything else on the menu!!!
Matilda Coleman
Delicious food! Every time we have been, the service has been wonderful and the meals are amazing! Plus heaps of doggos in the courtyard! Favourite cafe in Brunswick!
Lil Miss Vegan
Been going to Minor Place for years, when it was just milk crates at the front to sit on. Now they have a lovely outdoor section with tables so very dog friendly. I haven't had a bad meal here, Henrys beans are my favourite ever bean dish, however I always feel bad because the serve is huge and I can never finish it. The tofu sandwich also a winner.
Melbourne Food
Delicious! Had the corn fritters and a blat sandwich on a different occasion, will definitely be back to grab a seat outside when summer is here!
Vasiliky Grillakis
Really love this place. Super yum and super nice people!! Had the superfood salad that was delicious. My friend had eggs with rosti. Also yummy!
Eve Black
I come here weekly and sit in for a whole day of study. Menu is great, exciting flavours. Pomegranate and pumpkin dish with poached egg on grain toast was outstanding!
Theknifeandforktalk
Cute small cafe with a great buzz. Food options were create with a semi affordability compared to other cafes. The mumbled was delicious... possibly too much pesto added. Eggs were poached really well. Cream cheese bagel was a good small option for those who are just after a nibble. Wouldn't discount but probably a once off adventure.

Stopped here on a public holiday and the place where as open and bustling. Friendly staff found a table, and made a meal off menu for my father with special dietary requirements. Ordered two other "minor breakfasts" and was pleasantly surprised with the sizeable meals for a great price.
Good Food Good Mood
Dropped my car off nearby to the mechanic and decided to spend the waittime eating a local breakfast. This place has the best rating in the vicinity on Zomato so I came forth and conquered some avo on toast. Nothing special for me but clearly popular with both the hipsters and the locals and of course the local hipsters
Rebecca Park
Very disappointing service and the coffee was full cream when I ordered soy and double-checked my order to make sure it was right. Staff have a very carefree attitude. It's hard to tell who works here and who's just hanging out. Won't be back.
Junie0912
Friendly staff and next door style cafe with reasonable price,we had avocado bagel with cream cheese, smash avocado, piccolo and cappuccino, all pretty nice
The Other Jenners
Popped in here on a Monday morning for brekky and was delighted with the delicious fare! We had the Mumbler and the BLAT - both super fresh and the perfect portion size. Will definitely return here the next time we're in Melbourne :)
The Beauty Of Melbourne
My favourite cafe for a BLT - super cool vibe (maybe a bit too cool for me) but yummy food, fast service and good coffee, keeps me coming back!

Came with a group of 6 and were lucky to score the booth table inside. It was very hot on Saturday so we were happy sitting close to the air con inside. Service was great and food excellent. I ordered a coffee while we waited for the other guests to arrive which was nice, for brunch I ordered A Minor Vego and the Pash and Dash smoothie. The smoothie was refreshing and really good. Everyone around the table was happy with their meals and smoothies and the different meals ordered all looked delicious. I highly recommend this cute little cafe.

My absolute favourite cafe in Brunswick. After having recently moved here, I stumbled upon A Minor Place and have since come back weekly (sometimes several times).

The pancakes are AMAZING. The salted caramel sauce is to die for, but the pancakes themselves are incredible. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I get them every time.

On other occasions, my family have ordered eggs on toast with a variety of sides and absolutely loved it. My sister rarely finishes a meal but managed to finish her breakfast here. My father is quite picky with the places that he chooses to go back too, but happily goes back to A Minor Place.

The staff are incredibly nice, and the service is great on the week days, and understandably the wait for food increases on the weekend a little bit.

My local, and my favourite cafe!
Alli Parker
Food here is amazing but the service was lacklustre. Ordered coffees as soon as we sat down, took nearly an hour to get to us - arrived after our food. Waited almost half an hour to place our order as none of the staff stopped to check, regardless of the fact that we still had menus on the table. Left our empty water jug on the edge of the table, hoping to get a refill, but it was taken away and not replaced. Underwhelming service, balanced out by the lovely food.
William Hasnever
Still has great coffee!! The service is always good. It's just a shame that as time passes the place just seems to get more pretentious and less interesting. Definitely one of the better places for a latte though at the top end of lygon st.
Gerry Eeman
Had the scrambled eggs w chorizo and pesto on the Specials menu. Wouldn't get it again. Pesto wasn't very nice. Waiter forgot about me after taking initial coffee order which was a little annoying. I'll try this place one more time but today wasn't a great experience.

For me, a good cafe is not just about the food, but also about the service, atmosphere and coffee (of course!). A Minor is a nice place; it has a cool, retro feel about it and a calm atmosphere. This is good for a Sunday. The service is relaxed and friendly, but I didn't like that crumbs and spilt food is just wiped down onto the floor. No one likes a grubby floor with bits of beetroot and greens scattered on it... The coffee is the bomb - the absolute stand out - and this is why my review isn't totally terrible, as I can't fault the coffee. The food is average - the Reuben bagel I ordered was definitely not a Reuben (even with a twist) and there was hardly any pastrami nor sauerkraut in it (key Reuben staple ingredients). My partner's open steak sandwich was pretty average too and drenched in some sauce with overly battered, doughy onion rings. I'd come back only for the coffee... The coffee is really good.
Elle Jaybee
I love this place, so peaceful and nice, lovely outdoor places to sit in the sun. Everything I've eaten here has been amazing particularly love the pancakes, muffins and the peanut butter/cocoa smoothie!!! Friendly staff nice vibe and open later than most cafes in the area, for those late lunches :)
Roland Fraval
Our current local and a great cafe. The coffee is consistently good, the menu is nice and interesting and the specials are top notch. Well done them!
Christina_M
MY FAVOURITE CAFE!!! absolutely love the offerings of A minor. Its a little cosy humble cafe tucked away on a corner in Brunswick that never disappoints. Suitable for gluten free heads like myself
Beau James
From visiting two other places first but with the fresh 'no line up' rule in effect B and I went to A Minor Place on Albion Street to see what it's about.

A nice little small cafe with a pretty relaxed vibe, we were seating on a large communal table and ordered some coffee's and brekky.

Coffee from here was fantastic and the latte went down a treat. The eggs and toast were cooked well and overall the staff were friendly.

Don't come here if you can't handle being a little cramped, just part of the deal with a place this size.
Ramen_Girl
I live a few blocks away and go to A Minor Place regularly. Amazing breakfasts. I've never had an average meal there. The staff are always friendly. Great atmosphere. I recommend the 'A Minor Breakfast' and the 'King Kong' smoothie. My favourite cafe in Brunny for sure!!

What's so good about living in Melbourne?

We are blessed beyond measure to live in this City, a City full of creative people, converting this otherwise derelict corner weatherboard building into an eclectic place to catch up, sharing joy in some serenity ambiance. This corner block is now alive, breathing or more appropriately oozing great food and pouring strong liquid gold.

It is vintage with lots of character, minimally renovated, weatherboard, timber floor board, in two sections, booth and great lookout window stool/bar feature. Checkout their creatively made outdoor tables & chairs.

Service could do with a bit more engagement, "Hello" "How are you going?" and smiles. Young team, they looked grunge and Black is the colour.
Seating 8 people in one small booth near access way in comparison to 1 person in a bigger booth is probably not the best way to host your patrons.

On the food side, very creative menu, fresh and well presented & cooked.

Coffee is above average too, enjoy.
Jmdam
I've been coming to A Minor Place for over four years now. Never had close to a bad experience. Staff are super chilled yet very friendly. The chai is spicy, just like a chai is supposed to be. The meals are so inviting and delicious. Not over the top at all! Just a great home cooked meal. A must try for all! Trust me, you'll be back.
Julia
Oh AMP bless your cotton socks. Have been coming here regularly since it opened (mid-2000s?). Although it has changed hands, the excellent coffee and reliably delicious and generous food continues. Espresso is the most reliably excellent in Brunswick, very short, never burnt. If you are allergic to hipsters steer clear, but the young staff are all very friendly and amenable. Never change.
Frenchtoastandindiepop
We’ve recently found ourselves a new place to call home on our favourite part of the world, Brunswick. Conveniently nearby is A Minor Place, a thriving suburban cafe that feels miles away from the hubs of Sydney road and Lygon Street but is in fact nestled on Albion street in between the two.
Einney
Heard that A minor place makes their coffees from The Wide Open Road roasted beans and finally got a chance to visit it.

It is located in a very chilled neighbourhood and you can tell the cafe and staff were well represented in Brunswick style ;) The interior was very welcoming and I love how they have set up the tables and chairs.

Short black was nice, balanced flavour and flat white milk was in good consistency.

Food was yummy! I had the pumpkin, kale, roasted cauliflower on toast and requested scrambled egg instead of poached eggs. It was a vegetarian dish but I did not find it bland and it was actually very flavoursome. Also tried the Reuben bagel. Not sure if they make their own bread but the bagel itself was really nice. Food was in generous portions and at a good price too!
FoodingAroundMelbourne
Love this place. Always a surprise on the 'specials' board and always good coffee. Can be difficult to get a table at times, but wait times are generally not too bad. Food is fast but not rushed.
Stephanie Dellios
This place is sick. Staff are great - so friendly and relaxed. You'd think it would be quiet considering the location, but it's always buzzing with people. Good little spot to bring your laptop in and work away.
Toni Pepperoni
This place is lovely, the staff are awesome and the breakfast was delicious! Probably the best pancakes ive ever had! Never knew this hidden gem was right on my doorstep! Well worth a try!!
Vicky Taleska
By far, the best coffee I've ever had. Staff are very friendly and food is fantastic! Its a lovely little cafe that caters to everyone. Music playlist is awesome too!

This cafe reminds me of my friends house
In ascot vale, pancakes were generous
tasty and filling. What more would you
want for breakfast
Mmmmm pancakes."

Great find in Brunwick - delish, tasty and affordable menu. Lovely prompt staff and cosy relaxed setting. My bagel was awesome! And would definitely come back to sample more of the menu.
Nat Perić
Recommended by a friend to come here & it did not disappoint! I was in a rush so I ordered a tofu sandwich from the takeaway menu, and my god, I don't think I've ever had a more delicious sandwich in my life. Huge portion, lovely staff & the vibe here was fantastic!

Would usually rate 5.0, but had a horrible experience here on Sunday.. Waited 20 minutes for staff to take our order, which is fine because I don't mind when it's busy. The thing I had a problem with was when the order was taken, the guy didn't write it down and in the past I have had the same problem with the same guy.. Ordered the breakfast salad WITH a side of avo and haloumi, my friend ordered her meal with lemonade. Food came out fast which was good, mine came out without the sides I'd ordered, so I said sorry I ordered this WITH avo and haloumi, he said sorry and took it back to kitchen. Comes back 5 minutes later with a completely different meal, not what I ordered, I explained to him what I had ordered and that it was right the first time but with the sides, he took no responsibility and didn't see he had done anything wrong.. Made no effort to fix it, I just gave up and said DONT WORRY ILL HAVE THIS. I ended up eating the avo toast (couldn't eat the bread because I'm gluten intolerant) but couldn't be bothered to send it back again.. I left unsatisfied, paid full price (which is fine because I don't expect free food) but I paid for something I didn't order) and hungry (due to only eating eggs with Avo (no toast). This guy really needs to carry a note pad because you shouldn't be getting orders wrong when there is only two on a table, plus my friend never got the lemonade.
I'm a regular customer and I would not normally complain but this was just unacceptable. Will still be back but I will not be ordering with that particular staff member. Hope next time it makes for the last visit.

One of my favourite cafés in Melbourne. Great coffee and food, really good wifi and there are power points. I really like the staff, they are friendly and attentive in a casual way. Nice atmosphere. Wooden interior, outside area is also available. The menu is great, I like the veg friendliness.
Sarah La Roche
Love this cafe. A Brunswick institution. Been coming here for years even as new places open. Awesome coffee, food is seriously tasty, huge portions and really reasonably price. Chilled out (but on it) friendly staff.
Jessamy
Consistently good coffee and food, plus staff are always lovely! Reliable wifi too, which never hurts. This is a great place to work for a few hours, if you need to get out of the house 😊
Brew Hunter
Been here numerous of times as I live just around the corner. Great friendly staff and always good coffee. This is my go to place for a catch up lunch with friends as the menu offers great variety of cheap large serving meals. My favourite thing I have had so far was the chia oat coconut porridge with caramelised banana. I would also recommended there signature Henry's white beans as well as there potato feta quiche and new York style bagel. The kale and beetroot salad with pumpkin and ricotta crème is also a must try. Overall relaxed cafe with great filling food and a lovely outdoor seating area.
Lucy Stuart-Menteth
Beautiful food, coffee and a cute little fit out. Have only been once, ordered the Buddha bowl - packed with veggies (lucy heaven), loved every mouthful of it. Nothings too expensive either. Make sure you come here with an empty stomach - the serving sizes are huge!
Good Eats
They so alright here. Is it a groin grabbingly good time? Almost! Coffe is nice, staff are nice and they let your dog sit on the patio with you. I've been a few times and if someone wanted to go I'd go again. I'm not sure what it's missing to have that 'go to' breakfast place. I'll check if they've done a seasonal swap of the menu and go from there. Will get an upgrade if the menu is groin grabbingly good...
(stopped past today, place was busy, WAY too many apple laptops taking up whole tables or benches. Leave your laptop at home mate, no one cares. Menu hasn't changed, staff didn't bother to day hello or as to seat us, not groin grabbingly good at all...)
Snow
Ok so I wouldn't say this place is great but I wouldn't at that it's bad either, many friends swear by this place... I enjoy the coffee and the atmosphere, but the food is still yet to impress me...
Ophelia Gaunt
My local and I absolutely love it. Menu is full of variety and takes into account vegos and vegans. The chai tea here is also the best I've had in a long time. You guys are fantastic, keep doing what you do!
Elle
MMMM white beans... so delicious.... bagels... so delicious.... coffee.... so delicious. I love 'A Minor Place' - never before had I eaten white beans and these guys do some serious beans. They are always a side with anything I order. Great coffee and a really cozy nice atmosphere. Great when the sun is shining and the weather is fine. Perfect place to read the paper and sip on your latte (or flat white depending on how hipster you actually are).
Sally Tsang
Friendly service, relaxed atmosphere. Huge food servings! Healthy, lots of veggies in our dishes. More peas than I could eat. Good coffee. Comfy seats.

Wow, A Minor Place is a nice little gem hidden in the heart of Brunswick. By the amount of customers sitting at the front and inside you can tell this place is quite popular.

Its popular for a reason the food is really nice and the coffee is just amazing i loved it. I had a Mocha which was tasty and just poached eggs on toast, a simple breakfast but was actually fantastic.

Service was super friendly and really helpful, everything was pretty much spot on so i am definitely coming back here. Thanks Guys!
Alanna Chloe Grossman
Staff was super friendly and the food was beyond amazing. While I usually go for a sweet breakfast, I had heard such great things about Henry's baked beans that I just had to give them a go... Boy, I was not disappointed!! These were absolutely amazing and I am so glad I decided to give them a shot. Meal was completed with a fantastic coffee. Lovely place for brekkie or brunch
AC Man
I would definitely go back there and would make trips specially to go there.

I visited A Minor two weekends in a row and would go back in a heartbeat.
The staff need to be applauded for remaining cheerful and accommodating even at really busy times. The weekend just gone we had to wait around 30 minutes for food because of how busy they were, but they let us know it would be so as soon as we sat down.

The food is overall of a very high standard. They don't have anything way out or unique necessarily on the menu, but they execute what they have very well. The coffee is also really great.

I'm not the type to line up for an overhyped, overrated cafe that serves decadent, over-styled breakfast for a ridiculous price.

This place may not be for everyone, but it definitely ticks all of the boxes for a really satisfying and relaxing weekend brunch.

Loved it. Went here for brunch on sunday and was very pleased with the coffee, food and service. will be back!

A bit overrated. Staff aren't really friendly, possibly because it's very busy and cramped.

Pick of the locals. Excellent food, very personable and helpful service without usual execrable Brunswick theatresports-dropout waitstaff. Best breakfast spot for a mile. My usual is the whipped feta with a poached egg. Divine.

Had the most delicious lunch today! We couldn't decide between the mushroom and bean quesadillas or the berry pancakes with strawberry mascarpone and pistachio praline... so we got both! We got to sit in the perfect little corner booth and the service was great! This place has been a favourite of mine for a while, I highly recommend it!

Perfect place to sit and write. I have literally just joined urbanspoon to write this review because I think this place deserves a thumbs up. It's just what I've been looking for. Admittedly I have so far only been to A Minor Place during weekdays so I can't speak for the speed or service on a Saturday brunch - but for the freelancer this place is perfect. Cosy nooks and tables big enough to work on, a nice calm wooden interior, quietly smiling unobtrusive staff who let you sit with your coffee or tea for longer than the average place. The food is fantastic and on a cold autumn day, just what I was after. I've had the bubble and squeak, henry's white beans and the smashed avo with haloumi, poached eggs and chorizo and all were really stand-out affairs. Great veggie and vegan options too.

Yum!. There can be a very long wait but the food is always fabulous! I will never get sick of the BLAT!

Too busy for new customers. Took 50mins to get breakfast and only got it once we'd decided to leave. The food wasn't bad but certainly not worth the wait. They are a very busy place, and the staff wernt too bad, but the wait time is too bad to ever return.
Goodhearted
As far as cafes go, A Minor Place is a bit of a faithful old friend. It's been around for ages, always has something tasty and vegan(isable) on offer, makes a decent soy latte and is reliably open on public holidays when everything else is shut.

I noticed a lot of ragging on the service at A Minor Place on urbanspoon, but I can't say I have experienced poor service during any of my visits there. I hate it when people describe spots as "full of hipsters" and describe poor service being due to "not being dressed cool enough". I turned up in a t-shirt 10 sizes too big for me, runners that looked like space boots from Pluto, leggings covered in lint, a face that looked like a raging bull and was treated perfectly. So there. Now shuttup everyone who insists on using "hipsters'' in their descriptions/criticisms.You were probably being a total asshole to the wait staff anyway.

A Minor Place is hidden away on Albion Street (Brunswick) and if you didn't know it was there you would never ever find it. And that would be your loss. Luckily one of my Aussie friends suggested we meet there for a catch up. The owners of A Minor Place also run Wide Open Road - need I say more? A Minor Place is in what looks like it used to be a residential house with a store attached. When you walk in you instantly get this warm homey feeling. Decor & furniture match well. Maybe a bit too many tables cramped in there.. We went on a Sunday for brunch so it was pumping. Luckily the weather gods were in a good mood and we enjoyed the autumn sun on our backs sitting outside sipping amazing Lattes. And guess what I (a firm believer the reading materials on offer are almost as important as the coffee itself) was quite pleased with their newspaper and magazine selection (The Age, GRAM, Melbourne Review…). Staff was friendly and even though they were super busy we didn't have to wait too l

I start with what I consider the best Chai in Melbourne, perhaps it was because it was my first and my local back in 2006. But I always return to its gin

We left a little disappointed but I believe that’s because our idea of cafe/brunch food is a little different. Of course, each cafe expresses itself uniquely, with emphases on certain cuisines, cooking styles, presentation, etc. Nevertheless, we coulld understand the appeal of the cafe to the locals. It’s charming in it’s only little way, and maybe one day i’ll be back to try those white beans…

...last time i went it was plenty fine; nice relaxed pace, good coffee and cheap delicious food. we got the booth up the back with prime seats overlooking the synesso. again the food was cheap and delicious. i inhaled a bagel with this amazing grilled ham, mandatory poached egg, rocket and some mildly spicy relish which tasted like good quality pasta sauce. nat had a ny bagel with cream cheese, dill and avocado and steph struggled to get through her french toast, though i suppose that happened more because of the size of it rather than the taste. breakfast was a pretty quick affair, but we hung around for a lot longer. the weather and the company was much too agreeable to be moving at any speed other than glacial. i relayed the story of beeanchor to nat (that unfortunate spelling of bianca) and she laughed for a solid 10 minutes. seriously, its not difficult to crack her up, you try it

...a lazy Sunday’s brunching here is a reminder of why the backstreet local is such a winning formula - hidden enough to give the illusion of exclusivity with the kind of casual cool that makes you feel like part of the B’wick brat pack, even if you’re just a tourist to the ‘hood. The menu is of the ‘rustic organic’ variety. Spinach and dukkah are popular sides, generously served up alongside organic free range eggs and ham. The white beans, a house specialty, are delicious. There are some unusual choices too - the brie bagel with avocado, fig chutney and rocket is definitely on the list to try on a return visit. There’s plenty of sweets and lunch options too and the coffee is top notch. A Minor Place is at once both relaxed and hip - you can peruse

A Minor Place is a slightly off the beaten track Brunswick gem. On an unsuspecting corner stands the cute and charming gem sure to bring a smile to your day

I found the white beans to be pretty enjoyable. Creamy and garlicky and herbed with rosemary, served with a side of toast smothered with melted butter.. this was a great breakfast to have.

No...the place is really called "A Minor Place", located in the backstreets of Brunswick, the place will leave you feeling just a little scared. You are in no doubt that you are in Brunswick, and you are in no doubt that you are in the backstreets of Brun

A Minor Place is the sort of cafe you see as you go by and think "I must try that"; partly because there always seems to be loads of customers outside, on the tables in the street or at the deck round the side...The staff were friendly...The coffee was excellent - so good we ordered twice - and my breakfast of pancakes with strawberry yogurt can only be described as sensational.
Eat And Be Merry Crew
At first glance A Minor Place isn't much too look at, particularly its outside milk crate seats with ironing board like tables. Step inside and it has the same functional sort of look but has suddenly become much more appealing, with warm brown tones and
