Review Very Good Falafel - Brunswick

Jana Levit
YES! ✅ Very Good Falafel is just that - very good! Great even. Delicious falafel plate that will feed even the biggest hunger for such a fair price. These guys don't skimp on the hummus 🙌 Have been back about three times since my first visit. Highly recommended.

The best falafel I’ve ever had In my life. The shop lives up to its name very good falafel. The falafel were freshly made and fried to order. The Falafel was crunchy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. The toppings and pickles were really fresh, sauce was great. Great serving size, and only $10 for the pita.

Fantastic food. Keeping everything simple at very high quality ingredients and most importantly declines food. The falafel was delicious and the plate was amazing with grilled leeks, babauganous and salads. The lamb kofta plate with fresh pita was absolutely delicious. We loved it and will definitely be our regular visit.

I was impressed when I first looked at at their menu. Clean, simple and to the point. Falafels were ‘very good’ and so was everything else. Using good and fresh ingredients are more important than a long list of menu items. I think these guys understand that well. I went in right after they opened. But the kitchen was not fully prepped and I had to wait for about 40 minutes to get the food. That takes out one star from my review. Otherwise, food was good.

My first time trying falafels! Happy to say the food, staff, and experience was delightful! Definitely worth the trip out on my day off!:)

Ambience is welcoming, staff was nice and accommodating changed order from take away to dine in, Cafe was busy but got to sit by the time order arrived. Ordered Ktzizot plate came with 3 mini patty, patty was nice and juicy but overall plate seemed a bit unbalanced. Need more meat and less of pickles and salads. Would have happily paid more if there were 5 patty on plate Located on a busy road, best to park car on side streets.

I like the falafel at this place. However the first time I went the salad was much better. This time it was very little eggplant lots of grains.. falafel still good so maybe next time I'll just get the falafel wrap

Friendly staff. Great with kids. Such good falafels. Lamb was awesome too. Can’t wait to come back.

Would say this is overall experience in whole. Giving 5 stars without trying food as I am sure this will be amazing

I love their falafel, better than any falafel i had in Melbourne

All I can say is very very very good. Was initially disappointed when I had to move house, and that mood was changed 180 when I realized we were closer to this oasis

It is a very good falafel. It’s not the best falafel I’ve had - that honour goes to Half Moon Cafe in Coburg. But it’s up there. The pita they use is fabulous. I think the pita was maybe a little overloaded with sauce, it was hard to keep together. All the ingredients were fresh and very tasty. Not much seating and a little awkward to wait for takeaway on a busy day.

FOOD 5/5: Best falafel plate I’ve ever had, and they give a mountain of hummus. We ordered falafel plate, hummus with falafel balls and Sabih plate and babaganoush (not pictured). The eggplant was so well cooked and creamy. The falafel itself is slightly dry, but the variety of pickled vegetables and fresh cucumber/tomato was a good contrast. Pita pockets were also not too doughy.

SERVICE 5/5: accommodating staff, let’s you know how long things will take. Babaganoush naturally takes a while, but the others came out within 5-10minutes.

ATMOSPHERE 4/5: tables are a little bit small, and since they are so popular, it gets a little bit cramped due to the lines for takeaway. Still nice and clean.

Had the falafel plate which was nice but the falafels itself weren’t amazing. The hummus was nice but also not the best hummus you’ll ever have. Reasonably priced though. It’ll probably be nicer in a pita.

Best falafel I’ve had. Very good falafel is one of my favourite places to eat. located on Sydney road, The staff are so welcoming and the food is even better at amazing prices. The owners seem to be extremely sweet and giving people with their constant fundraisers and donations to multiple charities. Highly highly recommend.

The name of the restaurant just doesn't do justice. It ticks all boxes including friendly and efficient services, excellent foods, affordable pricing and great atmosphere. While I and my girlfriend were sitting down digging into the plates of yummy goodness, I saw customers buzzing in and out constantly at 3.30pm! Must try place when you are in Brunswick.

With my 50 years exposure to street & restaurant food... It now seldom happens that I get to better my previous best for a dish and when it happens... it's an added pleasure. This time it's Falafel at "Very Good Falafel" at Brunswick Melbourne. The presentation along with portion size, the taste and spices level.... all ticking the right spot.... Must Try if you can

Very speedy service and great tasting food :)

Value for money and fantastic rotating daily salads.

Amazing and friendly service! Upon my first time being there, I was welcomed and when I was lost at what to get, the staff kindly suggested some very good falafel! The falafels were moist inside and the salads which accompanied them were perfect! Amazing stuff guys! Keep up the good work!
Sam.Sha
The falafel balls are not very authentic and feel very dense in texture and oily. The tahini dressing is really thick and overpowering. There is also
Minimal seating area and tables are not clean and takes a while for staff to remove the previous customers rubbish.
Zomatoaddict
As it’s called “very good falafel! We got there a bit late and they have already ran out salad dishes! The falafel wrap was so tasty and was made from fresh ingredients!
Kikiwango
Very average falafel. While my falafel pita was fine, it didn’t really have a lot of flavour, especially compared to the other falafel places around. Even the falafel itself didn’t really taste like anything.
George W
Had the falafel pita and it was so fresh and delicious! Hopefully will make it back here again
SohzFoodTrail
Best babaganush and falafel. Must try.
Keerthhi
Best falafel ever❤️ The hummus and pita bread were good too! Loved the theme and vibe of the restaurant. Friendly staff and good service. Food worth the money 💯

Oh my, they still the make the best falafel! Still same quality as last year. It was too delicious and I was too hungry till I forgot to take pics of the actual falafel that we ordered . Ordered the fallafel pita and the mince lamb one . Best of ever, love them, so amazing delicious!
Frank
Best falafel I’ve had in australia.
Miro
Absolutely delicious!!! Can’t be beaten.. hands down the best falafel I’ve had. Well thought out.. you don’t need any chips or sides. It’s a burst of flavour and very filling.
Shao Wang
Friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Stellapropitious
Very good falafel! :) Like their name~ The pita is delicious and the prices are beautiful~ it’s so big that I even cannot finish the whole pita~
Definitely will come back!
Melissa Wang
Delicious, crispy and fresh falafels. Great combination of hummus, salad and pickled vegetables. Highly recommended, would come back again

Great food!! Not the best falafels in town but close to it. The Sibih is amazing. Although as good as the food is, I don't know why its so hard to talk to customers with respect and with a smile and good service. I'm always super nice and most staff that take my order generally seem stressed out and rude. If they fixed that it would be a dream to eat at.
D
The food was very fresh and tasty with big portions that meant we were well and truly full.

However the service was woeful. Since there is no explanation displayed we asked about the menu and the woman serving us seemed so pissed off that we did, like we were an annoyance. Also they served others food before us and forgot a drink.

Despite this, it still gets 4 stars because the food was THAT good.
Cheesy.boys
The Falafel plate at very good falafel is just that; VERY GOOD. Great flavours and massive portion size. Unfortunately though the service isn’t fantastic, I’ve visited on three seperate occasions and twice the staff were rude and abrupt when taking my order. I understand that they do get very busy but thats no excuse to justify speaking poorly to a customer. Seating is limited.
Thuaners
oh wow the falafel here really is very good! :) the name is accurate!! the salady parts of it was really refreshing and a nice balance to the delicious falafel part. yum!!!
The Gluten-Free Foodie
This place is one of the best in Brunswick and I love the flavour of their classic pita. Unfortunately now that I’m gluten intolerant I can’t have the pita or falafels. Some of the salads can be gluten free however it is no longer suitable for GF diners unless they change their falafels.
PositivelyDelicioUs
This place offers very good falafel, and very good service too. I’ve been here a couple of times now and they seem to be a local favourite, always nice and busy.
Melbourne’sTopEats
Easily one of Melbourne’s best cheap eats. Should be called amazing falafel.

Never disappoints and was pleasantly surprised to find the majority of the menu is vegan friendly which is a great bonus.

The ktzitzot (lamb) is also great for those not so vegans out there.

This place is great and fast becoming a Brunswick institution.

👌

There's falafel and there's falafel. What these guys do is far and away the best I've ever had in Melbourne. They seem socially conscious too, which is amazing, and they have a tip jar that is matched dollar for dollar by the owners who give their half to charity. I've been here a dozen times, and I can't bring myself to order anything but the falafel even though the eggplant, lamb and salads all look good. A plate with five falafels, big dollops of hummus and tahini, a whole pita, Israeli pickles and fresh cabbage and Israeli salads is a steal at $12. I'd happily pay another 25% on top of that. Everything tastes fresh and wholesome. My only suggestion would be they put the pita on a grill for 10 or 15 seconds before serving so it's warm, but they're always busy and may well not have time. Easiest 5 I have ever given.

Aptly named and very convenient to eat over at Eddy Gardens on a sunny day! Lots of choices, very delicious and definitely healthy. Big fan!

I've had the falafel here from the Farmers Market at Uni Melb and it is amazing. The falafel is crunchy and fluffy, not even the slightest bit dry. Tahini is full of flavour and I love love the pickled radish. All the ingredient compliment each other perfectly. It's also super cheap! The only reason why I didn't give it a 5 was the service, I couldn't get a word out of the employee that has served me twice now, just looked at me handed me the falafel and put their hand out for the money. It was really uncomfortable! Will definitely try dine in sometime to try some more of their dishes.
Jepps
Best felafel balls I have ever eaten! They were deep fried with a crunchy outside and soft, moist filling. The hummus was smooth with lots of flavour and also fresh. Loved the pickles and cucumber/tomato salad too! The decor inside wasn’t anything special however if you’re after a quick bite this place is great. Don’t think they serve tables with water which was a let down and the floor around the tables had a lot of food and was slippery, other than that it was great! Pretty cheap too. Didn’t get to try any of the other salads however will be back

At first I was mistaken. Given it's modern interior and beautiful staff, I thought it would be a hipster falafel house. Nope. Best $9 I've spent in a month.
Whalesfoodadventure
Service was very friendly and food cake out real quick. The falafel salad platter was amazing. Falafels tasted great and moist. Sweet potato salad was my favourite. Falafel pita had heaps of pickles, falafels and sauce, all mixed well together. Also got hummus plate without falafels with extra pita and it had so much flavour
Georgia
I had walked past this place a lot and had always meant to try it and i’m so glad I finally did! The falafel plate was so delicious and I will have to go back again because i’m obsessed. The atmosphere is very hipster and I loved watching the food being made in front of me. The service was quick and the staff were very friendly.

What a humble little place . Love everything about this place, the vibe , white wallls, humble staff and plate full of goodness. Love there falafels ans salad plates . My binge eating spot
Bites Of Melbourne
Had driven past a lot and is always busy so decided to stop and try.

Wasn’t really sure what to order so just got the falafels.

Would be good to have better description on the menu.

Was a bit disappointed to be honest with the falafes.

Will try something different next time
Baira
This is my after work dinner spot. Super quick service and the falafel balls are worth dying for. I’ve never had a meal that is so rich in flavour- it just wakes up all your taste buds just like that. The tahini dip and hummus are the best !!
Yee Kee Ku
Probably the best falefal I have ever had in my life! fusion with modern ingredient, the fresh twist to this traditional middle eastern food cannot be better.
Frog
Really good falafel hummus Tahina eggplant and chopped salad - I’m not sure the pita bread is quite authentic like I remember. It can be a little slow and when it gets busy be prepared to wait a while!

Recently went here for lunch on a Monday. It was packed as usual. I got a seat up the back at the bar fairly quickly. I ordered the falafel plate with the salads. I got a generous serve of the 4 (!) vegan salads they had that day, which were top notch, plus the falafels sitting in the middle with tahini sauce on top. The salads were chickpea/pumpkin, lentil/grains, cabbage & fennel. The people next to me (who came in after me) gasped audibly when they say my plate landing in front of me because it looked so amazing. And it was amazing. The best. Great value too. Always a great experience eating at this place. Hard to fault.
THEJUGERNAUTS
Friends recommended this and it’s super busy and you can see why when the food comes. Great falafels, tahini and it all tastes so good. Cool hipsters not overtly fussy spot. 😍😍😍
Ondreea De Vincentis
Delicious and very tasty food! Food is fresh and made as you order. Great prices for generous servings. There isn't much seating inside restaurant.

I love a god falafel pita. Being vegetarian for the past 23 years, falafel is a well known staple to my diet. I’m happy to see so many fresh and trendy eateries popping up specialising in this cuisine. On the Brunswick side of Sydney Road, Very Good Falafel is busy at all times of the day. Its menu is simple: pitas, hummus plates...
Vivian
The name says it all. They do great falafels paired with really nice hearty salads, portion sizes are also huge !
The interior is small - not many seats
Dani
Yeahs yeahs yeahs. Nothing can be wrong with this falafel. The salad is a beautiful choice too. If you are really hungry avoid the 12.30 to 14.30 because is reaaaally busy.
Jess
Always amazing falafels. Highly recommend everything on the menu. I always get a pita wrap, and it is consistency good. Never had a bad falafel - never dry, super tasty and hot from the fryer.
The salads are also very good, and the salad plate w falafels is a huge meal - so bring a friend.

This place seriously has the goods! I finally visited Very Good falafel yesterday with friends and was pleasantly surprised! Whether it's the falafel, sabih or kzitsos, you are guaranteed a delicious wholesome meal at a great price and a generous portion! Will definitely be returning.
VinChan
This is our favorite Falafel place in Melbourne. We’ve been here several times and also introduced a lot of friends to these yummy Falafels. They have different salads everyday and all of them are quite delicious. The portion size is quite filling as well - so no skimping there! The only drawback I could think of is the long wait times for a table at peak meal times, but if you don’t mind takeaway they’re pretty quick with the service.
Nadia
Really can’t fault this place. Lives up to its name, hype and reputation. Would probably eat here every day if I lived closer; alas, I can only go once in a blue moon.
Madhanpr
Ordered their tzitzki and baba ganoush
Food was fresh. Tasted great. Good customer service. Pricing of the items was right. Will visit sometime again to try their falafel.

Great place to grab a snack. So cheap and delicious. Very good falafel fits its name, the falafel here really taste good. Also the salad dish I found it good. I absolutely love the eggplants with crispy skins. Minimalistic decor and pleasing atmosphere. Definitely worth second visit!

YUMM SO GOOD! 😋😋😋

My friend, a first timer falafel eater is very impressed with the taste and flavour.

The falafels are amazing. 👌👌 Crunchy on the outside fluffy inside. The hummus and tahini just spreads out smoothly and matches well with the falafel. The pita, though is cold it's still soft. The only not so good comment from me is that there's too many pickles. haha.

Portion is pretty huge though. My friend and I couldn't finish our plate. 😂😂

Service is friendly and for the price it is definitely worth it.
Anisa Sher Shah Rasyid
Soooooo good, I was just passing by and saw the long line, decided to stop and boyy it’s probably the best falafel platter I’ve ever tried. Super recommended
Yz
The falafels here are awesome and never disappoints each visit. The soft pita that compliments the hummus and the crunchy and moist falafel just tops it off. Not to mention it's all only for 10 dollars! If you're famished or feeling like sharing, definitely choose the plate it's much more worth it!
Bill
Very good indeed, just be ready to wait in line at lunch time because this place is always packed! By the time you have your first bite of their falafel, you understand why. The epitome of living along the Sydney road is going to this place and enjoy the warm welcome of the local community.
Bear Noms
Great place to grab a snack. Not many seats so it’s more catered for take away. We tried the falafel which was delicious. We also got the lamb one but the falafel was better. Friendly staff!
Unravelled
A ridiculously good place for food - so cheap and delicious. My favourite is the eggplant/potato pita - it's so good I would travel from far and wide just to eat it. You must try.
Vegetarian Food Lover
4.5/5
Very good falafel fits it’s name, the falafels are very good. I had the Pita pocket for $8.50, stuffed full of falafel & toppings. I would have given it a full 5/5 if the pita was warm.
Akila Ravi
Falafel is my most favourite food. I go to every restaurant in the city that serves falafel only to compare falafels. And it’s safe to say that they serve some of the BEST falafels in the city. Absolutely love them

Not a big fan of their salads. They weren’t as good as their Pita and Falafel.
Jocelyn
Yum! That is all that needs to be said....really tasty food, refreshing drinks and lovely staff. Limited menu and all food seemed have have been made well. Very busy but no stress, well worth the wait. Will definitely visit again.
Quince And Cheese
This place lives up to the name. It was a mainstay when I lived in Brunswick. A bit more expensive than other falafel options in the area (and definitely more "trendy", but the higher price brings higher quality, especially exhibited by the vibrant green falafels and the daily rotations of fresh salads. If you're hungry, a plate is just a few bucks more than a pita, and far superior.
Antoine S. Cruz
Falafel dish is really good and cheap that is deffo a bargain.
Also the salad dish I found it good but not brilliant. A bit tasteless.
Also music was pretty bad and loud.
But too be honnest it's really a good deal if you wanna eat something good for cheap 👌👌
Moodie Foodie
It’s called very good falafel for a reason and lives up to the name. A nice little asset to the area. Tasty and fresh food, great vegetarian portions. Service could be a little faster though.
Roxanne Groebel
This. Never. Disappoints. A local cheap and cheerful spot worth the wait. Its a get in get out type place. Always busy and noisy! Great for a quick meal with a friend or partner. If you feel like fresh, delicious vego food, this is it.
Anthea Warlond
All i can say is a big "YUM". Can't wait to come back and make my way through the entire menu. Shared a pita and salad plate and it was filling, fresh and flavour packed!
Hao-Ning Ng
They serve the best falafel I have ever had. Everything is freshly cooked, I absolutely love the eggplants with crispy skins. Minimalistic decor and pleasing atmosphere. Definitely worth second visit!
Danielleeokeefe
The falafel plate for $10 is amazing value for money and every ingredient is fresh and delicious. The bread is incredible too. Also love the salads!
Syahirah Halim
Best falafels hands down in Melbourne. I hate how far away it is from my house but whenever I’m in the area, I’ll get my hands on it. You won’t be disappointed (:
Afrovegan
My non vegan friend was very impressed with how your falafel were made fresh. He’s contemplating on going vegan and trying out vegan food because he’s inspired. Overall the falafel were amazing, the salads were on point. It’s definitely worth another visit soon.
Camilupo
It’s always a good sign when the menu is simple and small. They only do a few things- and they do them all incredibly well. These guys serve up authentic reasonably priced meals that are generously piled high with tasty fresh dips, salads and pickles. You’ll leave very satisfied and happy- what more could you want? Try the Sabih (eggplant) or the Ktzizot (lamb) YUM
Flo
Was craving falafels, drove past this shop and decided to try it out. A small eatery with limited seatings and a very small but basic menu. Kitchen is open, so you are able to see your food been prepared and cooked. I ordered falafels on a plate to go $10 (which comes in a cardboard takeaway box) and a pita bread in a brown bag. In the box you get 3 falafel balls, salad, a very generous serve of pickles, hummous, baba ganoush, onions and some other condiments. Everything was fresh and flavoursome. Only complain for me was the falafels were a little too crunchy and tough for my liking (cooked a little too long). I normally like my falafels to be easy to break up with a fork, where else these falafels held it's shape even when I used a fork to poke it and it felt really chewy to eat. Would definitely come back to try some of the salads I saw there, they look really vibrant.
Hina Rastogi
This is superb. Full plates and tasty food get all boxes checked. Have never put so much effort into finishing everything on the plate. All i could leave was the remaining bits that I couldn’t lick from my plate. 😛
Limited menu and good service. See you again soon @verygoodfalafel.
Me
Really tasty falafel with a hipster edge. The stand out is the eggplant dish, now that is something different and AMAZING!

The menu is pretty confusing but all I can say is get the eggplant dish and you’ll be happy.
Beini
Middle Eastern food is one of my favourites. Grilled meats all piled high on a plate, with dips and pickled goods on the side, and everything can be wrapped up in a pita bread, what’s not to love?Very Good Falafels do things a bit different here, as the name goes, they have a focus on serving up some of the best falafels in town, coupled with a rotation of house salads that can either be served on their own, or topped off with falafels.
J-acqui
Relatively tasty but wouldn't come here if you're after an authentic experience - Very Good Falafel is more like a hipster fusion cafe. The girl taking orders/money was not very friendly and the service on a whole wasn't that great and was very pretentious. I liked that the portion was large, it was fresh and it was reasonably priced but I wouldn't race back or wait 20+ mins in the queue for it. I've had much better falafel elsewhere on Sydney Rd.
Chris
One of the best vegetarian/vegan options available. I am not crazy about the falafel but the salads are out of this world, really worth the trip. Really hard to get a seat during the busy times.
Vanessa
So delicious! The falafels were just perfect. Can’t wait to go back! There are only a few tables so you may have to wait a little but takeaway is always an option.
Tilley Eats
Came here for lunch on a Saturday hoping to get a table and order a falafel plate, but it was so busy we had to takeaway. We got the $8.50 falafel in pita, which was fantastic value and super filling, but a bit tricky to eat from the bag. Falafels were intensely crunchy and worked well with the other ingredients. Highlight was the pita which was fresh and fluffy. Falafels got a bit dry and tiring to chew towards the end, but that could have been we were so stuffed from the huge portion. Great for vegetarians who are big eaters!
LouLou Loves Food
One of my fave places to eat. Falafel pita is amazing and the salads are so tasty. The babaganoush is probably my favorite menu item. Half a grilled eggplant smothered in tahini. Divine!!! If you are in Brunswick and need a place to eat don’t hesitate to drop in.
Jessica Broome
Always fresh and incredibly tasty. Quality never seems to falter and it's brilliant value for money. Yes it's busy and you can't often find a table, but the falafels are beautifully crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside, the salads, dips and sauces are heavenly. Delivers every time.
Dimzib
Very Good Falafel is true to its name, and seems to serve some of the best falafel in Melbourne! The food here is always consistent, and the interior is cozy. The staff could be slightly more efficient, and the waiting line is quite long. Heat is a pretty big issue in this place, as it either isn't air-conditioned or ventilated well, making it pretty miserable on hot days.
Charlotte White
Holy moly this place was so amazing. Hands down the best falafels I’ve ever tasted in my life. The kind of meal you’ll have dreams about 😋 I’ll be back ASAP.
Tabi Ei
Have been here many times. Never been disappointed. Best falafel in Melbourne. Even though it isn’t close to me, If I’m having falafel would be at this place. They also have an amazing range of salads to go with it and this great tahini sauce on top of it. The home made lemonades were also a bonus in summer.
Sana @ MissBurberryXO
I came in here for a gluten-free lunch option and left utterly satisfied. The falafel plate is highly recommended and the name "Very Good Falafel" is well earned. The falafels are cooked fresh - they are crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside but not mushy. I love that you can actually TASTE the falafel mixture unlike other falafels I've had which usually seem bland unless elevated by sauce.

The pickles and baba ganouj are flavourful. I find that the hummous was slightly bland. Perfect lunch for $10 / plate, great value for money in Brunswick!

The space itself is small so if you have a bigger lunch/dinner group, arrive 20-30 minutes early to get a table.
Vicky Ho
I’m glad I can say I got some very good falafels at Very Good Falafel. The staff were as lovely as the food. I ordered the falafel w/ salad. They change up these salads everyday or every week I heard. The dishes were full of flavour and I very much enjoyed it. The falafels came out fresh, hot and crispy! Yum
Verdict: would come back
Jaffa
Amazing find in Brunswick! We were lucky enough to get a table and all opted for the plate with falafel! For only $10!!

Soooo filling and delicious! And amazing value for money! Wish we had something like this in NZ!
Virgil
Love this place! Cheap food and delicious everytime!!! Never been disappointed! Best falafels I've ever had! Great for when you want a cheap eat that's quite tasty! Good place for anyone on a budget!!
Madeline Austin
Amazing food, really authentic. The pita bread is excellent and a great variety of salads. Best falafel I've had! It's a shame the place isn't bigger to fit more tables in.
Skellie
This place is great. The food was very affordable and tasty. The eggplant was a bit too salty, but the staff were very friendly and they run a good ship there. Thanks for the very filling, fresh and delicious dinner :)

Very, very good falafel indeed.
Serving sizes so generous, price is fantastic.
Its usually buzzing so be ready for a wait and remember patience, these things dont just make themselves....
