Came here on a whim with high hopes and was not disappointed. From the soul warming ramen to the excellent customer service (chef even hand delivered the entrees) this really is a place worth visiting.
Protip: try the deep fried sushi
We came to the restaurant at 9.30pm just before close. I loved the fact it felt like i was in Tokyo about to have ramen. Was greeted by the most friendliest waitress. Ended up trying:-
- chicken karage
- fried tofu
- Gyoza (must try best I've ever had) literally had to ask my brain to validate the awesomeness of the taste.
- Miso Soup wasn't that fake pre made one which again was awesome.
- The special Chicken & Pork Belly Ramen Ramen. YUMMMMY
All in All finally found our favourite ramen place in Melbourne. Best thing about it was didn't feel thirsty afterwards as it probably wasn't drenched in MSG.

I came here with a friend to try the ramen. The soup available are chicken-based broths which I thought was refreshing as I usually only order pork based soups. The special ramen was really flavoursome and the noodles good really well. We also ordered the Japanese pancake and yuzu cheesecake to share. The cheesecake is house made and has a really pleasant yuzu flavour that carries across each bite

Veggie croquette has a most perfect pocket with a crisp batter with mashed potato filling that was flavourful with some veggies. The sauce added a light tangy taste.
The misoya special ramen is one of their signature ramens. Strong hearty broth with tender pork belly.
Creamy chicken ramen has a thick flavourful broth which was full of collagen. The eggs were perfectly cooked and ramen noodles were the right texture and taste. The pork belly in both ramens were fatty in a good way and the meat was so tender it broth so easily. We ordered the ramen with additional corn which added a sweetness to the dish.

I LOVED the vegan ramen AND the sake at Misoya Sake bar! The miso ramen broth was amazing - so thick and flavourful. Service was great too!!

Well, It was my fist time eating ramen, and all I could think was “Wow, I’ve been missing out’
The Misoya Special Ramen’s (Egg noodles in a chicken-based miso soup topped with soft boiled egg, spring onion, leek, wakame seaweed and slow-cooked pork belly) broth was thick and flavoursome, and steaming hot, which was perfect for this cold raining night in Melbourne.
For our entree we shared the Tori Karate (Yuzu marinated deep fired chicken). The coating was soft, not to oily, and very tasty.
Hubby and I loved the Soba (Chilled egg noodles tossed with miso-based sauce and salad), the noodles were packed with flavour, and the salad very fresh.
Great portion sizes and very affordable prices, friendly service, and a quiet ‘relaxed atmosphere’ with some cool jazz tunes playing, added to a great night out.
When my hubby and I walked out of Misoya sake bar we said the same thing to each other, “felt like we were in Japan for a moment’. The food transported us right back to Japan for the evening with unpretentious and flavourful food made with care. The ramen definitely gave me the warm fuzzies.
Oshikatta! I'll not mince words, nor keep you over-long dear reader. You'll need the time to phone or seek out a ride to get to Misoya and try things for yourself. How the chef packs this much flavour into a bowl of noodles I do not know. Misoya's special Ramen bowl, a Hokkaido specialty, is like an imposing wave of enduring deliciousness. It swamps you, then leaves your mouth drenched in ongoing flavour spasms as you slowly pick out the notes of chilli, creamy egg yolk and fresh green onion.
Without artifice, the best Ramen experience I've ever had in Australia.

😱Lizzie’s first impression: who would have thought a ramen bar in Brunswick would be so good? I came here on a weekday and it was really busy during lunch time.
🍩Lizzie enjoyed: We tried the Misoya special ramen and it was super tasty. The broth was thick but didn't feel heavy at all. The noodles were al dente and and char siu that was on the bowl was very generous. I lved it so much.
We also tried the chicken ramen which was tasty too, but in my opinion is never as good as pork based ramen soup.
The gyozas we had were cooked really well and was so crispy on the outside. The filling was quite tasty and I was very impressed.
We had their Japanese yuzu plum wine and it was sooo delicious. I love all Japanese alcohol!
🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: The place is a little out of the city but it is definitely worth trekking the way here.

We were kindly invited to Misoya for lunch. We came by on a Sunday and were seated immediately. The interior of the restaurant was beautiful, cosy and clean.
We ordered the vegetable gyozas to start. The gyoza skins were so delicate and thin and encased in them was a mixture of veggies. They were fried to perfection and were delicious and juicy.
For mains we ordered the Misoya special ramen and the miso tsukemen. The Misoya special ramen broth was light yet rich and complex in flavour and the boiled egg was cooked perfectly. The pork belly was tender and the noodles were nice and soft. The whole dish was well executed and balanced. I loved the tsukemen dish. For $18 you can get it in an entree size which comes with 1 bundle of noodles and for $20 you can get it in a main size which comes with 2 bundles of noodles. I got the entree size which was perfect for lunch. The dish comes with a bowl of chicken-based miso soup for you to dip the noodles in. The noodles came on a separate plate with the pork and veggies and I also asked for a boiled egg as an extra. The boiled egg was insanely delicious and the yolk was gooey and rich. The chicken miso soup was not overly salty at all. It was again, rich and complex without being overpowering. The noodles I think were dressed in a little sesame oil for extra flavour and smoothness. Best tsukemen I have had in Melbourne and so perfect for warmer weather.
I loved my meal here and wish it was nearer to me! The service was friendly, polite and warm too. Thank you Misoya for your generosity.
Cute japanese restaurant in Brunswick serving hot ramen! We came here over the weekend to check out this restaurant that has both rice bowls and ramen. We had the special misoya ramen and dipping ramen as well as a side of kaarage.
Everything was delicious and the ramen soup was just perfect.
I've been to pretty much all of the Ramen places in Melbourne CBD and surrounding areas but none recreate the authentic Japanese flavour as well as this place. Completely blown away and have been a regular customer ever since. I've also seen Dave Thornton here!

Nice authentic ramen bar and one of the better ramens I’ve had in Melbourne. The agedashi tofu was just unexpectedly a little small for its size.
Ordered the Misoya special ramen ($16) & Creamy chicken ramen ($17). Noodle, soup base and eggs were good, the chashu was alright - not as melt-in-your-mouth as the one in Shinjuku or Hakata but still tasty. I personally still prefer tonkotsu ramen over miso ramen.
Chicken ramen broth wise, nothing can beat Hakata QV for me but this is still good considering you won't have to look for parking (Barkly square is just nearby so best to park there).
Nice little Japanese restaurant in Brunswick. Food is pricey but generous servings and quality ingredients. We ordered the agedashi tofu ($3), special ramen ($16) and chasyu don ($16).
The service was friendly but a little slow to take our order. It also took about 40 minutes for food to hit the table, so it is a bit hard to squeeze into a short lunch break.
Gyoza looked fantastic so we will be back to try that!
My friend and I came around 6pm and the store was getting busy. The customer service was friendly. The interior was very modern yet stylish.
We shared the pork croquettes which I thought was nice and well made but I don’t think it was worth $12.
We ordered the Misoya Special Ramen which included a soft boiled egg and soft cooked pork belly. Each individual part of the ramen was cooked to perfection; noodles were not too hard or soft, egg was perfectly soft boiled and the pork belly melted in my mouth. I think it lacked flavour, which I didn’t order an additional ‘sauce’ which would probably helped. Despite that, it was a very homely bowl of ramen and I was very content!
Definitely would be a great meal for winter, so I’ll be back when it gets colder.
Thr City of Moonee Valley is a Ramen wasteland so again i have no choice but to venture elsewhere for my Ramen fix. Sydney Road was where i find myself and lucky to get a seat at this place. Chose the spinach nori roll as a starter and glad i did as not only was the presentation impeccable but the dish was so fresh on the pallet, the perfect way to begin. The rolls when combined with the tomatoes and mayonnaise with bonito fish flakes was delicious, the knife skills on the tomato resembled fine diced salmon, a beautiful dish. The ramen was good, a nice chicken based miso, tender pork belly and those exceptional Marinated soft boiled eggs. My friend had the Curry Don and thoroughly enjoyed it. A very popular place and i can see why.

Very polite and obliging welcoming as soon as we walked through the door with seating and menus handled in a blink.
Edamame Yaki were heated to perfection and a magnificent but subtle flavouring to the pod kept the bowl emptying rapidly.
The Misoya Special and Tori Yakisoba were very generous in size and packed full of flavour.

Been here for number of times. Whenever think of Ramen, we come here to fill our craving tummy. We came later afternoon and ordered Misoya Special Ramen, hiyayakko, tori karaage to share. The bar closes at 3pm and the waitress still greet us at 2:40, feel so warm! The food came super fast and they all taste good. We quickly finished and paid at 3pm sharp. Thank you !
Tonight, the cats were on the prowl for a warm and comforting meal. We settled for the following:
❤ Pan fried pork gyoza - absolutely delicious
❤ Chicken Karage - delicious, juicy, crunchy and not oily
❤ Misoya Special Ramen - smooth, creamy chicken broth in a sea of perfectly cooked noodles, and pieces of soft pork belly.
Customer service was friendly and prompt. The place started getting really busy as the night progressed. Be sure to book!

Really good, fun and fresh spot for a quick ramen on a chilly night. Surprisingly the chicken broth is not watery or flavourless (like that of the chicken hakata site) and is in fact so rich and complex that I felt so wholesome after my meal. I got extra karaage with my ramen and that deserves a notable mention really. 4.5/5 can recommend and will be back!

Ramen Misoya Sake Bar is located on Sydney Road next to The Cornish Arms Hotel. It is a small restaurant inside and an outside section so if you’re going with a large group I highly suggest you book ahead. The space is warm and cosy with jazzy music. Great date spot or a great spot to meet up with friends. A lot of Ramen places I've been to have been quite loud and busy but this place has a cafe kind of feel to it where one can actually talk, take their time and relax.
Their signature Ramen is a rich and creamy chicken broth with a subtle spice undertone and very smooth. It is served with thin noodles, a whole flavoured egg, wakame, shallots, sesame seeds and generous slices of tender pork. Their chicken karaage is some of the nicest going around, big juicy portions with a crunchy crust and lots of flavour. Their Gyoza is also not bad and presented beautiful with its crust still intake. Paired with a Suntory, you really can't go wrong with the crisp lager finish.
Service? Very friendly and attentive staff. If you can speak Japanese then make sure you speak it here.
Wrap up: On the expensive side for a bowl of ramen ($17) but definitely worth the price!
BONUS TIP: Ask the lovely wait staff for a recommendation on the Sake menu. Everyone I have tried so far have all been ridiculously good!

Absolutely love this little gem! We always order the agadeshi tofu, and the special misoya ramen which do not disappoint. The ramen is always full of flavour and fresh and so filling. It is our favourite comfort food. Ask the polite wait staff for a recommendation on the Sake (you must!). So far we have tried 3 of the sakes on the menu and they are all ridiculously good! Definitely a local favourite for me!

Late evening feed sorted with this gem right next to Cornish arms. Although it seems small at the front, there is a outside back section as well. Music was jazzy and really set the mood for the delicious ramen.
Smooth and thick broth accompanied by nice soft boiled eggs is an absolute winner, the pork literally fell off the chopsticks and ramen was cooked to a semi firm bite. Paired with a suntory, you really can't go wrong with the crisp lager finish. Definitely recommend and choose a time which isn't too packed, it's worth it.

The much needed japanese restaurant Brunswick has been waiting for!
We stopped by this place for lunch and ordered the Misoya ramen as well as the chicken salad. The chef was accommodating to my request of pan fried chicken instead of Karaage for the salad. There was quite a bit of the mustard mayonnaise over the salad, but it was tasty. Most people that came in for lunch looked like regulars which is always a good sign.
Service was polite and friendly, and the meals are very good value for money.
Very nice ramen. We've only been once and the service (though friendly) was a bit slow but the ramen was nice and since it is close to home we are bound to be back here eventually when we next get a craving and not in the city.

What can I say... for a sake bar that doesn’t sell sake, 4 is a very good rating. Nestled in the heart of Brunswick where competition is a reality for these restaurant owners, Miso-ya Sake bar (reluctantly calling it that) evokes some of the most authentic Japanese cuisine in the surrounding area’s. The restaurant has a aesthetic arty feel yet, hosts a homely aura.
One word summary: Authentic
Nice decor, but seats are slightly uncomfortable. I was here w a friend and ordered their popular ramen and it was better than I expected, I also added veggies and chilli oil! Def keen to come back and try the creamy chicken ramen and Their dessert! They do an amazing egg too!

Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food presented at this very new , hole in the wall dining experience . With authentic Japanese wait staff and decor that would not be out of place in Shinjuku or Harajuku the food didn't hold back . THe dining experience was like a flavour bomb going off in the mouth . I started with the agadashi tofu , a small yet surprisingly flavoursome morsel of tempura covered tofu with fresh scallions ginger and garlic sesame dressing , YUMM The second entree sounded weird but was surprisingly innovative and tasty . Tempura battered rice roll not dissimilar to a sushi roll but without the Nori wrapper, again with a green matcha salt sprinkle over the entire plate . Presentation great and flavour indescribable , a second yumm . I shared these entrees with my friend Dani who had recommended the place after reading a review . Although small servings were small you were not left in satisfied . The richness is the food only required small Amounts to be happy ..We then shared a bowl of silky ramen noodle soup based on a Miso and vegetable stock
THe ramen noodles were amongst the silkiest I& luxurious I've ever eaten including Japan ! Yumm , the stock was what made the soup , one large bowl to share was more than enough for the two of us after the entrees. Deserts looked tempting , black sesame ice cream , and Japanese cheese cake. But we declined ..

Sat down for a quick bite. It wasn't busy at all for Sunday lunch. I only ordered the entree okonomiyaki, which was filling even though it didn't look very large. It was really good! It was a bit heavy on the sauces, but the inside of the seafood pancake was great. (Although this was the first time I tried okonomiyaki, so I have nothing to compare it to). Nice small place and good service.
I absolutely adore Misoya. The restaurant has a beautiful interior featuring a raw plaster wall and soft light fittings hanging from the roof. Tables are candle lit and there is always relaxing jazz music playing in the background. Perfect for a date night! The restaurant is always busy, but amazingly it is never too busy and it is always quiet. Service is excellent too. Misoya staff are so friendly and lovely. The ramen here is the best I have tried in Melbourne. I usually get the Misoya special and it is just heavenly. The broth is creamy, thick, flavoursome and complex with the perfect amount of chilli. The pork belly melts in your mouth and is succulent and delicious. Prices are reasonable and portion sizes are perfect! You can even add extra ingredients as you like. The menu also has a good variety of other dishes and there is a small array of unique desserts such as matcha pudding. Misoya is my weekly go to!
Love this Japanese restaurant. The staffs are friendly, with good looking and nice smile. And the pork belly rice is amazing. Can't enjoy the meal without it every time I go there.
Delightful restaurant with attentive customer service. We had the special ramen which was really delicious. Although I'm not a regular Ramen eater, I was impressed by the chicken miso base and will definitely come back for more.

Nice service, easily catered to a booking of 10. Small venue but nice and cozy. Creamy chicken ramen is super tasty as well as the misoya special. Not to happy with the variety of ramen, does cater to vegans but there is no pork broth ramen available. Also unlicensed venue for alcohol passed 3pm. Price wise and portion was great for a 16$ ramen I received a great sized portion. Would come back again if the menu expands for ramen as they advertise as a ramen bar.

After "deserting" Brunswick for a while (my bad) today I've planned and executed a visit there to see what's on.. It was a pleasure to find out Misoya!
Ordered gyoza, chicken creamy ramen and yuzu cheese cake. Wonderful gyoza (literally), creamy but delicate ramen and good cheesecake. In spite of being pretty busy I didn't have to wait more than 10' and the food started to arrive.
A plus the ambiance and the japanese-standard service (waitresses 111% kind and precise) and a satisfaction to communicate in japanese.

Once a week I hit up this place, the okonomiyaki is next level with lots of prawn and bonito flakes, The gyoza come with a sheet of thin and crispy pan flakes and the Ramen itself is full bodied, pork belly meltingly tender and the noodles just a hint of bite, love it.
We stopped in for a quick bite and had a selection of small plates, which were all delicious! We had a vegan friend who was extremely happy with her agadashi tofu and vege croquette. In fact we all had agadashi tofu (which was by far our favourite), other highlights were the karaage chicken and vege tempura with matcha salt. We had such a great experience and I was surprised at the low rating... although we didn't have ramen at all.
We were so happy with our experience here. Service was fantastic, staff were really friendly with our toddler and provided him with plastic crockery/cutlery. Food was amazing, it captured all the subtle tastes of Japanese cooking. We were happy with every dish we ordered and had to order a second plate of vegetarian gyoza as they were just too delicious! Reasonably priced too, we will definitely be back.
The ramen wasn't very "special", per se. However their karage chicken is something to die for. My Japanese friends and I ordered three of those dishes and they were gone in the blink of an eye (didn't even have time to take a photo!)
The service was perfect. The Japanese waitresses and waiters were extremely polite and friendly. I was able to practice my Japanese and they were easy to talk to. They made us feel very welcomed. We even received a complementary dish of karage chicken salad (I think they realised how much we love their fried chicken!!)

I come here once a week and have worked out the routine of agedashi Tofu, okomomiyaki, gyoza and special ramen! It's real good, the broth is out of this world as is the miso egg, I recommend traveling to this place as far as you need to.

I honestly did not expect much from this place but I was greatly impressed. The staff, even though they did not speak fluent english, was excellent, very friendly and very informative. They took excellent care of us and waited patiently until we all gathered together at the table. The food is just beautiful; amazing flavours, perfect presentation and absolutely gorgeous ramen noodles. It missed half a point because despite the hot weather there was not much ventilation.
Good ramen. More than just ramen available on the menu too, with a selection of rice dishes and appetisers on offer. I had the greasy soba which is a dry ramen with slow cooked pork belly which you can customise with sides (chicken karaage for me!) but had some of the special ramen broth which was great. The gyoza was nice too. Overall food was good but the service was friendly but average, from the first of our group being served to the last the window was far too big, despite a lot of people ordering the same dish. Also just a warning, despite the name there's no saké at night time! No liquor license after 5pm.
Friendly little neighbourhood ramen place. The different noodle soups on the menu seem quite similar, but are very tasty. Also a tasty complement of side dishes such as gyoza and matcha latte. Nice relaxing courtyard, family-friendly. Nice for a laid back quick lunch!
I have been here multiple times. Amazing food, and very friendly and efficient service. Heaps of vegetarian and vegan options!

The ramen was DELICIOUS, fresh, full of flavour and rich. Well priced, good combination with the beer. Also the waiter was excellent.

The matcha iced latte was lovely, surely it had a bit too many ice cubes.

Not the greatest ramen I've had but as a meal it tasted pretty good. I had the vege miso ramen which had quite a nice broth. I had it with egg noodles which were good but this type were too thin for my liking, kind of like spaghetti honestly. Kind of skimpy on the veggies too.
The other dish at the table was pork belly on rice which was also apparently nice but did come with cubes of fat. I mean you can expect pork belly to be fatty but I don't know many people that enjoy eating gelatinous fat cubes. It wasn't too difficult to push them to the side though so not much harm done.
Overall though the meal was nice enough and the waitress was very polite and smiley. Might get take away from there one evening but would probably try other places if I was wanting ramen

Anyhoo, nice selection of food and the service was lovely.
Ordered a Ramen, was super yum and my sister ordered the Japanese Pancake and some gyoza. She said it tasted a bit too fishy but the gyoza were yum.
When I'm in the mood for Ramen and no beer, I'll be back :)
Ramen again for the week! And this isn't any normal kind of ramen, there's a hint of spice in it which kicks it up a notch 👌🏼 friendly staff and loved the vibes! Although the soup was a bit too thick, but nonetheless flavoursome and different!
I got the special ramen with chicken and charshu 👍🏻 $18 while my boyfriend got the house special $13. Not too shabby!
The noodles and the soft boiled eggs were perfection! The slice of tomato in the broth can get stuffed but the broth itself was quite tasty; not as spicy as they claimed though. EDIT: we went back here and the desserts are amazing!!!! Beautifully presented with complex and interesting flavours. Gorgeous textures. Oh wow!
This place is fantastic! The Ramen is rich, delicious and extremely filling. Agedashi tofu light and tasty. Gyoza wrapped in a silken skin. There's also a lovely bar outside- perfect for the warmer weather on its way. If only Moreland council hadn't messed up their liquor license!!
Had the veggie ramen with some eggs thrown in, which was really tasty, but the broth could have a little more kick to it. Other than that, I'll be back when their liquor licence gets approved.
Best ramen I've had in a while. Nice, rich , flavoursome broth! There was a special chicken ramen option that is becoming trendy these days and also multiple add ons you could have on your ramen!
Added bonus is the politeness of the staff! Made me feel like I was back in Tokyo!
Great, friendly service and fantastic food. Their ramen is sensational, and their pork gyoza some of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend this place.
Been here several times. Went here with a killer hangover one afternoon and walked out feeling 10 times better! The food is very fresh and tastes great! Excellent flavours. Somehow cured my hangover hahaha. The service is sublime. They really understand the concept of good customer service. You feel valued and it just makes the whole experience so much nicer. I would take a date here, or a friend from out of town. The only down I have is the take away don was quite a small portion and we just weren't full at all so probably won't do take away again. Certainly will be back to dine in though.
I would have missed this place if not for the ramen craving, and boy did this place deliver. I ordered the trio of gyoza, miso ramen, and matcha latte. The main thing is that the food looks and tastes genuine and that realisation makes it feel right - never mind the chairs, the mid range price and the dated music on the background. The chef even gets out of the kitchen and gives a friendly pointer or two for optimal food enjoyment.
If that doesn't pique your interest then whatever - I'm on my way to slurp my next ramen bowl right now.
Thank god there is finally some great Ramon in Brunswick.
This place won't let you down, with billie holiday playing as you enjoy. The friendly staff and some amazing ramen.
Ramen Misoya Sake Bar finally brings ramen to Brunswick along the ever changing Sydney Road. The space is quite homely with its extensive use of exposed brick and wood. It works for those in the mood for a substantial meal, or those simply wanting a few drinks and snacks.
This is probably the best Ramen I have had in Melbourne. You can tell there has been a lot of effort put into the food here and it really shows. We had the misoya special with Fred chicken. The fried chicken was so delicious and complemented the tasty broth perfectly.
It's a little pricier than some other Ramen places in town, but definitely worth it. A very welcome addition to Sydney Road.
