Review Stand & Deliver Cafe - Brunswick

Delightful little cafe in Brunswick. Excellent food and staff - menu is great and the coffees fabulous too. Outdoor seating is perfect for watching the numerous pooches wander past. Can get busy so worth booking with a big group.

A cool space. A feel and layout to the cafe that nicely matches the neighbourhood location. Variety in the space, with benches, tables and chairs, bench seats with cushions, and outdoor tables. An example of the attention taken to the space is a huge square table with bench seats that supports large green pot plant to potential offer relatively private seating to multiple groups. There’s also a cool little hole in the wall for footpath takeaway service. The menu made deciding on food a difficult decision. But cauliflower and poached eggs lured me into the Turkish breakfast. A regretful choice unfortunately. A pretty and colourful presentation but only 4 bits of little cauliflower to accompany a very buttery sauce. The bread was good and pomegranate seeds were a nice touch but this wasn’t really enough to overcome the oiliness and the bowl of runny textures. I found myself really eyeing the quinoa, pumpkin and rocket salad bowl.

Awesome Brunswick vibes at A Minor Place 😎 Had the bubble and squeek recently and loved the richness of the dish and something a lil different for breakfast. Nice innovation on that one. Nice coffee. Intimate but cool feel amongst lovely period homes in the neighbourhood. Nice job guys 👌 Edit - tried the chilli prawn scramble - straightforward but could have used a touch more salt and spice. Good if you want a milder menu item though. Club sandwich was nice and fresh with crispy waffle fries, yum! Edit edit!: Grabbed the club sandwich (again) and steak sandwich. Massive serve which led me to take half home for a dinner special! Tasty, however the steak sandwich is a touch on the sweet side for my tooth.

We had a lovely meal at A Minor Place this Sunday. We have come on and off for over two decades. The menu is just as good, if not better than when we started coming. This weekend, I had the Minor Brekky, my partner had the Okonomiyaki. Both were excellent - fresh, hot and delicious. Some tips for eating here on the weekend: It is super busy and there is often a line up between 10-11. Given current conditions I would recommend booking a table to reduce wait time. Also, as there are a lot of people waiting to be seated, the staff told us they would prefer us not to hang out and use laptops during a busy period. Be prepared to eat and go on a public holiday, Saturday or Sunday morning. There is also tons of seating but this means the staff are absolutely run off their feet. Be prepared to wait a little to receive your coffee and food orders.

A gem! Gorgeous little Cafe, delicious food. The menu had way too many delicious options and was hard to decide. We all left with full bellies and happy

The food was delicious! Really tasty fresh ingredients cooked well. Only one thing I think they could improve on is having sharper knives, like steak knives. The butter knifes have trouble cutting through the toast. Food and atmosphere is top knotch though. Feels like you've cooked yourself a nice breakfast at home and you're sitting out on your balcony or backyard eating it.

My partner and I love going here - We have been for 8 years now and always perfect coffee, delicious food/pastries and cool, kind staff. Such a cool place to sit for hours and read, chat and just be out of the city. One of the best hidden gems in Melbourne.

Lovely coffee and tea serviced with a smile by Scott. A small menu of a few sweet treats and bagels to die for. Scott makes the bagel fillings from scratch and they are something special.

One of those really nice little cafes. Coffee is a good an even though the menu is not massive it has a lot of quality baked goods. Very relaxing atmosphere, exactly what you want in a cafe.

What a discovery! On advice of a local we went to Stand and Deliver for a late lunch and now I'm dreaming of going back (I've dropped in about 6 times already).

Located down a little laneway off a quiet part of Victoria Street, Stand and Deliver is one part art gallery and another part amazing cafe. The playlist of songs had me shazamming the songs the entire time. Decor is very Brunswick designer retro.

Our milkshakes: poached pear, blueberry and banana and also a strawberry and white chocolate - were both delicious. The food is fantastic and looks very instagramable. Brioche french toast with berries and vanilla mascarpone or one of the best halloumi toast I've ever had. We even asked the chef where we could get our own (sadly it's commercial halloumi sales only).

Stand and deliver is a cool destination cafe and I'll be back again soon.

I've been coming to S&D since it opened. Now I'm a fussy old curmudgeon, but if the simple, basic things you expect from a cafe are done well then I'm happy. And I'm happy here at S&D. Excellent coffee and food, friendly and engaging service, good music and unpretentious, sunny atmosphere. I reckon you'll always leave S&D feeling better than you did when you arrived - even if you have the eponymous and deeply awful Adam & The Ants song in your head.

This place is amazing, loved it. By far one of my new favorites in Brunswick, even after living here for 4 years. Super tasty, different dishes. Can't wait to go back and try the other menu items!

This place is the best! And I live just around the corner, so I'm chuffed! Service is always spot on, food is consistently yummy... And the soul music is the cherry on top.

Awesome food, great service in a super unexpected 'off-the-grid' location.

5 Reasons I like Stand & Deliver enough to give 5 stars

1. The best coffee in Melbourne... I'm not joking - try it.
2. Pork Belly Japanese pancakes - they keep me awake at night...
3. Unpretentious Service - Super attentive and accommodating staff.
4. The only place in Melbourne that you can eat breakfast and listen to Motown.
5. The chef aka "Skinny Russell" has the best nickname in Brunswick.

Not sure why this place isn't packed every minute. Nice staff, great menu, solid coffee, fabulous soul soundtrack. The food is divine, had their smashed avocado dish and it was so much more refined and flavourful than its equivalent at other Melbourne cafes. Worth seeking out when you are sick of all the Brunswick usuals.

The only downside is that our local is so good it dissuades us from going further. Great coffee and an adventurous menu & ever-changing specials board makes it a cinch.

Food is always excellent, service is consistently great. We've been going there every weekend for the last couple of months, never disappointed yet.

Encouraged to go by the yummy looking pictures on Facebook - to be told the dish had sold out. Staff were happy to make up a similar dish which was nice of them. Had poached eggs, chickpeas, haloumi, roasted tomatoes on Turkish bread. The dish was positively massive!! Way too much for one person. Need to half the portion. My friend had a different dish and it was also way too big. Staff were nice and polite but don't think we needed to be asked a total of five times if everything was okay. Got a bit annoying. And the one really disappointing thing was the English Breakfast tea was absolutely horrid!! Not sure what brand of tea they're using but they need to stop - now! It's the most awful tasting tea I have ever had. Not weak, not strong, not dull, not home brand tasting - horrid! Bitter yukky something gone wrong tea! Apparently they do good coffee (wouldn't know as I don't drink it) but maybe they need to take a second look at their tea brand. And also the water in my teapot was lukewarm which wasn't nice either. Overall we liked the place but the food portions need to be halved and they need a new brand of tea, like Storm In A Teacup. Would go back but not on a regular basis.

A warm and friendly welcomed with the most amazing customer service from Scott and his gorgeous fiancé. Always fantastic, tasty food presented so well. The coffee is one of the best I've had. Everything on the menu is a must try and a highly recommended cafe with a beautiful set out that makes it feel like home. Keep it up!! :D

This is one of the best hidden gems in Melbourne and has become our local "Go-to"! Coffee is consistently great and the food is spectacular. Nice range of items on the menu, as well as a really good Specials board that rotates weekly so you always feel like there's something new. Personal fav is the Kumara & Coconut Fritters with bacon. The actual fritter is so different to all of the stock standard ones you get at other places - the coconut gives it a really different texture and a softer undertone. It's the perfect balance between savoury and sweet. It's softer but still has a perfect crispiness. The sauces and the bacon together with a poached egg make for an unbeatable combination.
Really cool couple run this place and they are super friendly and attentive (which in the North can be quite rare). Awesome space and they have a cool little gallery tacked on up the back.

Delicious food & great coffee. Get my coffee here most days - consistently good & the cakes are always tempting. Brunch menu on weekends is the best! Love the scrambled eggs and bacon, and the sweet potato & corn fritters with eggs and bacon are fantastic - could eat them every day. Interesting daily specials and they serve booze :) Great local find - one of my favourites.
