The place I take people to impress.
Been here countless times and I’m never disappointed, K-BBQ for decent pricing with a great atmosphere.
Usually I order the beef set (for two people) for $59 that includes one of two soups (love the kimchi one), three kinds of meat, rice and salad.
Staff are always friendly every single time I have been and even when super busy, props to them!
Every friend or relative that I come here with have thoroughly enjoyed.
A great Korean bbq place if you don’t want to venture into the CBD.
Great atmosphere and food!
Staff could be more attentive but otherwise a good experience.
We ordered the $59 pork set which included rice, salad and soup. We additionally got a seafood pancake.
All the food was delicious! The pork melted and was flavoursome. The seafood pancake is one of the best I had in Melbourne - crunchy yet soft.
Food here is a bit pricey but definitely worth coming!
Rate: 4.5/5
Walked in randomly but this Korean place totally surprised me! The interior is really nice and dishes are reasonably priced. We ordered 59$ chicken set but we can actually change one of the chicken to pork. The portion is enough for 2, meat was juice and kimchi soup was amazing! I love kimchi soup that's a bit strong in flavor:) love this place and will definitely come back again
We often passed by and finally tried it out a while ago. We got the pork set menu and enjoyed it. They have a variety of options which are decently priced. The servings were generous and staff were friendly.
Been here a few times, love it every time. The staff are nice and food is amazing. We usually get the $79 set menu and add a few entrees like the dumplings and the kimchi pancake (was amazing) all the food I’ve had here so far has been really nice. It’s good to know I have this place down the road. Definitely coming back again.
Hands down! Best Korean Food in Melbourne. Kimchi Soup, Korean Fried Chicken, Seafood Pancakes are just the start when you seek dedication for original Korean food. Authentic and fresh Kim Chi, rare to find, is served here at its best. The service is exemplary and your entire experience fits well within your budget. The ambience is perfect for the time when you think of having Korean food. Go for it, as it is the best value for your money!
Great food and great service. Highly recommend to anyone who wants great Korean bbq at a very good price! Awesome place. Highly recommend the seafood pancake and Kimchi soup.
I really love this Korean restaurant because it is very consistent and delicious! I had the KFC (Korean fried chicken) and it was great! I also went for the Korean BBQ with my family, every single thing was delicious! Would 100% recommend!!
Fantastic food & service overall - we ordered the beef set, seafood pancake, kfc and jap chae. All was delicious and served very promptly! Furthermore, they were wonderful in catering for my allergies and helping us cook the meat. All in all, good value and delicious!

• who is suppose to cook the BBQ? They cooked our meat but left us to cook the chicken
. If the concept is to share you need a bigger plate than a saucer. I'm having more than tea.
. Loved the ambiance
There's a first time for everything and this was my first Korean cuisine experience. Whenever someone would suggest Korean all I could think of was BBQ and Fried chicken. The concept of cooking my own food, smelling charred and paying money for it was not something I thought I would enjoy.
The atmosphere was inviting, dim lighting, restaurant name Gu.E lit up against an exposed brick wall, dark timber furnishing, and small bar. The tables had a bbq centered in the middle and suction vents above. Immediately I forgot what I may smell like and wanted to experience it. There was something enjoyable about it while catching up with friends. Definitely, something I will try again.
Most of the food we had was good, there were some hits and misses. KFC chicken was great, crispy and crunchy. They had 3 variations on the plate and the serving was generous. Messiest things I have had to eat at a restaurant but it was finger licking. The bowl of lotus root chips tasted better than potato chips. Perfect amount of seasoning, crunchy and extremely addictive. The soft shell crab was crispy, the bun was light fluffy and airy. Stone pot Bibimba and beef. Essentially a bowl of mixed ingredients including rice, sauteed Vegetables, mushrooms, lettuce, beef and a fried egg. Tasted great and if you don't like sharing this dish is for you. From the grill spicy chicken bulgogi marinated and fermented, the spicy sauce had a great punch and was tender and soft.
The things I would not order again. Prawn and Vegi fried dumplings. Very dry, not fried well and did not have a crisp golden coating that you get when Pan frying. They were served without sauce, had to ask for sauce as it was like eating through cardboard. Halloumi and rice cake salad. Not sure how Halloumi cheese fits in with Korean food, we probably should have made that connection before ordering. Some modern attempt or possibly accidentally put on on the menu. We did not taste or see halloumi in the dish. Was bland and lacked seasoning. The paper thin Waygu we ordered was questionable, it was hard to see any sort of marbling through the meat. It was not marinated and a bit of salt would have gone along way. The waiter over crowded the bbq in a hurry as the meat stewed in some sections and lost that char grill.
Service felt non-existent, need improvement in this area. very slow, not attentive and always having to ask for things and remind them to bring your drink. We got food before receiving any drinks. Bit of a mad house. We did not wait very long to get food.
Tasty food, friendly staff, cool casual setting, and reasonable prices. It's hard not be happy with that combo. The KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) is completely over the top- fried sticky fatness... perfect.
Great experience here, staff really friendly and attentive to our needs food was really good only down fall no kids menu but they loved the kfc so all in all 👍🏼
Couldn't fault. Service great . Food came out very fast . Recommend the beef buns, KFC . Beef and pork on the char BBQ. All delicious. We will definitely be back
Tried their new menu! everything taste so good! Vegetarian friendly too!
They just renovated, place looks warm and cozy. You have to try their soju! :)
We ordered the spicy pork bimbimbap, Korean Fried Chicken and beef bulgogi bun to take away. Everything tasted very fresh but was a bit on the cold side. Is also pretty expensive compared to other Asian take away. Would order again but if getting take away would ask them to make sure it's hot or I'll try eating in.
Decent Korean offerings. Fried chicken was pretty good. The different flavours could have been a bit punchier. Enjoyed the dipping sauce options.
Good location.
Gu E is a nice contemporary Korean restaurant located on Sydney rd, near Barkly Square. As it is near the end of Sydney rd which is quieter, you could easily find free street parking after 6 pm. I like the interior design of the restaurant, the dark brown colour theme is warm and inviting for an intimate dinner. We had the hot stone Beef bibimbap and vegetarian japchae ( sweet potshots noodles) to share. Staff are Korean, add to the authenticity of Korean cuisine experience. Service is good and friendly. Food is quite authentic too and it's a little more expensive but I think it's worth it.
Checked out Gu.E in Brunswick to satisfy our Korean BBQ cravings😅. Unfortunately there was no grilling so we opted for the Fried Chicken, Pork Belly and Beef Ribs. The chicken was crispy and flavours were flowing, and the presentation was nice, but that's about all that stood out here🤕. The meals were average and the atmosphere was lacking. Not bad if you're looking to stay local but definitely better Korean BBQ in the inner city if you asked us tonight. Perhaps it was not their night and a once off situation, so give it a go 😉
Firstly, we ordered way too much for two people. If I had my time again I'd probably not order the cheese skewers and the beef hot plate as they were quite average dishes.
The mushroom and tofu salad was unbelievable, so much flavour. The soft shell crab buns are great and so is the Korean fried chicken. Service was friendly but with only one wait staff on shift it was hard for her to get around to us when we needed her. Taking everything into consideration not too sure if I'd be back.
Delicious! Have been here 3 times now and has never disappointed. Lovely Korean food at reasonable prices. Expect to pay about $50 for a full meal including drink and dessert. The beef bulgogi, roast and raw beef are my favs, plus of course their famous kfc chicken. Do yourself a favour and visit GUE!
Yum. E
Have no hesitation in booking a table at Gu.E, you are in for a treat.
Must order items;
K.F.C
Soft Shell Crab Buns
Cheese Skewers
Impressed with the efficient, laid back, witty service. We will return.
Out for dinner with a big group a few sundays ago and it was great. We ordered way too much food but we do that and it was so tasty and more then i was expecting. The beer was really refreshing and our bill was so much less for the amount of food that we ordered. Great night out. Looking forward to coming back for the K.F.C
Side note: Feeling a bit nostalgic as the venue was the old piazza 51 which was a fave of mine before it burnt down.
Food was absolutely lovely as was the service - I couldn't really fault this restaurant. Had the KFC and Sweet Chilli Prawn and really enjoyed the generous servings!
Large portions. Great KFC. Awesome staff and awesome food all round. Love it. We had a variety of dishes and they were all loved. I'll be back.
I have been to Gu.E a few times now and they never seem to dissapoint. Amazing food and great service. You cant get much better than that. Great place to come with friends or family, they will accomodate for all. There are plenty of options on the menu, i have tried a few and do not have a critique for any!!
A westernized Korean restaurant. We are used to order the KFC (Korean fried chicken) there every time, which has a very big portion with a quite reasonable price.
My partner and I went here for a late night dinner. On a Saturday. We had great customer service! The people here are so so friendly. We had the Korean fried chicken to share and it was delicious. Definitely coming back again soon!
Surprisingly I had a great time at Gu. E - went here with my work mates for dinner down the road. Service was good, attentive and extremely nice staff. Food was quick and really nice, the buns I had with the soft shell crab were really fluffy and all elements worked so well, and it was well-flavoured. A light meal, but it was the perfect amount if you've had a nibble beforehand. Would definitely come back to try more dishes and take my Korean boyfriend here and see what he thinks!
A wonderful find! Food is generous and delicious. Don't be fooled by the 'Light Meals' , they are large servings. Very well priced and satisfying. Too many items on the menu I'd love to try - will be back.

Great food but it's a shame they aren't clear about their opening hours. Don't go out for dinner at 9:30 on a Friday night because the kitchen is already closed even though they advertise their dinner hours as 6pm - 10pm. Really disappointed as was looking forward to it. Please be more clear about your kitchen working hours!!!
We went for a dinner, party of 3. We ordered both soft crab and beef buns to share. It was great. My main beef Bibimbap was second to none. Soooo tasty! Portions are large and I had to take almost half of my main as take away as I could not finish it. We couldn't also have enough of their cucumber/lemon/mint infused table water. Nice ambient and pleasant service. Could be a bit cheaper, though. Definitely coming back.
The food is pretty good, however the portion is small and a bit pricey compare to other korean bbq places I've tried. Their kfc (korean fried chicken) is pretty yummy.
Just when we thought we'd run out of places to eat on Sydney Road (all the other places we fancied were full), we came across Gu-E only metres from Parkville and the end of the busy strip.
Warm and welcoming with very attentive staff and fabulous smells of cooking food - perfect for a cold winter night. The seafood Mandoo (fried dumplings) were the absolute highlight of the evening - long and flat stuffed with tasty seafood with a small salad garnish - $12 for 5 was perfect.
Spicy calamari stirfry was good but a little 'wet' - lots of liquid leftover at the end. Dossam tray (belly pork with various chimchi) is perfect for those who want to control the level of spice in their food. Unusually, brown rice is the serve here. A bottle of (warm) sake a great accompaniment (several to chose from - worth asking advice from your waitress/waiter).
More than happy with $80 for shared starter, two mains with rice and the sake. Be warned - very large portions!
Absolutely loved the dining experience. Birthday treat from my two sons.
Great menu catering to everyone's palates including Vegan and vegetarian diners too (my sons being Vegan and Veg). Service was attentive without being intrusive.
Nice decor - Really great selection of drinks and generous size and not watered down.
Now for the main part - the food. Absolutely delicious and could not fault the flavors. I had a chilly pork and vegetables (authentic Korean flavors) with a side of brown rice. The boys had a mix of the Bibimbap and loved it - beautiful flavors through. We finished the meal with a black sesame ice cream (1 portion with two large scoops) enough to go around for the three of us - delicious. Will definitely be back there and highly recommended.
Came here on a Saturday night. Let me tell you its not cheap though not over the top expensive. Let me also tell you ... they have a full cocktail menu. The good thing is you can eat a spicy meal and order a cocktail. Love that! I read a review there were not many vegan or gluten free options ... why didnt that person just stay home in case they stepped on a blade of grass on the way there?
What do we usually think of Korean food? Probably some chilli based hot food , charcoal bbq and more likely Bibim Bob ,the most common rice dish with healthy selections of vegetable and choice of meat or vegetarian option. This place has everything that others have . But what make it so special is the atmosphere and the staff.
I decided not to go to few restaurants due to their wet dirty tables and their lost greetings.
Most staffs were experienced hospitality professionals and knew how to satisfy their people. I had my first meal and took my mates few times to show them that we can still be well treated for our $12-15 meals.
My first review ever cause i don't wrtie things on sns but my mates all agreed. So this review may be very personal, but try it and you will find that Brunswick also has a great dining place for Korean.
Gu.E serves delicious Korean food at an affordable price. All the dishes we tried were fantastic - the halloumi and fried rice cake salad was a great starter dish with its light, sweet taste while the K.F.C. was very satisfying with its crunchy batter and flavoursome sauces. The only (minor) criticism is that the lotus root chips came with tomato sauce - would have preferred a mayonnaise-type sauce. All in all, Gu.E is a great place to get your Korean fix and will leave you feeling full and satisfied.
Gue food is very good! Delicious!
I'm looking forward to next time!
And staff is kind, friendly! So comfortable!
Individually, cheese buldak is best!
Delicious. Big main dishes at good price. Flavourful and authentic tasting. Modern and inviting setting. Staff friendly and helpful. Quite dark so bring your spectacles. I'll definitely be going back again sometime soon.
It's great to have a Korean restaurant in Sydney Road. They seem to provide a hipster version of the cuisine, including kimchi pancakes stuffed the haloumi. But it turned out to be quite palatable. Their tofu bibimbap was filling and fresh, but the chili sauce was a little bland and the dish as a whole didn't have great pungency. A good reasonably priced taste of Korean food, but a little compromised. The loud music was also distracting. It seems to be more of a nighttime eatery on the way out to other clubs and bars.
Reserved a table on a Saturday evening for 7 people. Staff are SO friendly. Food was delicious, fresh and very reasonable prices. Attentive to small child, took all our photos, no wrong orders. Comfy atmosphere. We will all be back.
This Korean restaurant is the best among all Korean restaurants in Melbourne. All of the items here are great, but try "bossam". It is really really good. I am Korean and can tell that the food provided here can beat authentic Korean food in Korea.
Great place, cool atmosphere, fabulous staff. Ask staff what is good and based on what you like the recommendations are always spot on. The spicy calamari is very hot, just the way I like it. Try the KFC Korean Fried Chicken. You can't go past the Pomegranate cocktail to share and finish or start your meal with a Manhattan martini 💜Gue
Foods good, service is fast and attentive. It's not as spicy as the menu says but it's tasty. I'll go back to try most of the stuff out for sure.
Totally yummy & great value for money. Service really friendly & fast. The KFC entrée was a great dish to share. Meal sizes are very generous!
12-SEP-15 : Had a fantastic dinner with a group of friends here last week. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and good food. We had so many different dishes and they were all yummy. Will definitely be back for more.
I will start off by saying, I've never been a massive fan of Korean but recently have wanted to expand outside of my comfort tastebuds, and boy am I glad I tried this place! Stumbled across this gem on a walk with 2 girlfriends. Must say, we were pretty impressed. Ordered BBQ ribs, KFC and 2 other dishes to share, plus 3 non-alcoholic drinks. Came to just $76 and we left very satisfied. Delicious, fresh ingredients. Where we were seated, you could see directly into the kitchen and was fascinating how clean it was and how the chefs just worked around each other in such a small space. Our waiter was a delight, so friendly and knowledgable, always with a smile. Will definately be back here.
What a find! Gu E is Korean with a capital K. Really extensive menu and the service was friendly and super attentive.
Good selection of wines and beers and the food was great.
The seafood pancake was a highlight and you have to try the KFC - 3 kinds of Korean fried chicken and hard to decide which is best. Soft buns bulgogi were excellent and the Kim chi has some serious kick.
The bill won't break the bank either - well worth a visit... Or two....
Amazing food! Super friendly staff. Must try the beef bulgogi buns, they are sensational! We live 45 minutes away and will be coming back again and again!
The chicken wings done 3 ways was amazing! Staff were friendly and the decor was very nice and trendy. Good for a laid back dinner. Will be going back!
Great service and a good variety of alcoholic drinks. I had the beef bibimbap which was tasty and came in a stone bowl. My friend had the kimchi pancakes which had cheese inside them. I'm not sure if that is authentic as I had never had these pancakes with cheese in them but they still tasted great. :)
Have been here a few times now and have tried various dishes on the menu. Buns could use meaty options (chicken/pork) instead of just mushrooms and prawn! Yummy kimchi pancake and fried chicken! Service was prompt and food was good! Will be going back!
This place is my new go to place!
Funky, cute little place on Sydney road that I spotted whilst driving past.
Tasty, delicious food that was served in minutes of ordering!
Loads of healthy options for everyone
Absolutely would recommend to everyone!
New local favourite!!. Went for dinner tonight and really liked it. The Korean Fried Chicken was sensational (we ordered the sauces on the side)!!! My friend liked the seafood pancake but my favourite was the beef ribs!! Only negative is the serves are too big for 2 people and we didn't get to try everything we wanted. Cool fitout and super freindly staff. Already planning my next visit there!
Gu-E Brunswick caught our eye a few months ago while driving up Sydney Road. Despite the increase in restaurants and bars in Brunswick over the past few years, on thing that has remained the same is the lack of good Asian food in the area. When we saw that a Korean restaurant had opened up, we knew we had to check it out.
Found this place yesterday, been twice already!! Everything all good so far
Ordered take away and we were really impressed! It was all really tasty, we ordered the sweet potato noodles with beef, KFC, Kim chi fried rice, pork belly and the steamed buns with beef. Will definitely go back!
Fantastic. Really delicious fresh Korean food and lovely service. We will definitely be back.
Cheesy chicken, kimchi, pork belly and kfc were standout.
First time Korean BBQ was really good had combo of pork chicken salmon calamari and was awesome pretty cheap and nice atmosphere. Definately worth a check in
Delicious food and a sweet Fitout. The ambience could be improved with a different choice of music though :) thumbs up!
Great new addition to the southern end of sydney road. Friendly staff, reasonable drink prices and delish great value Korean fried chicken
Delicious food and fun, interesting grilling! Cuts of meat were quality, will be back to try the beef selection!
Me and my partner came here for dinner tonight and had an exceptionally good experience. The food was absolutely amazing (the kimchi stew and the corn pancake were my favourites). The customer service was fantastic and I cannot recommend this place enough. Will be returning here in the future!
It's so delicious:)
I got a good service and I'm going again~♡
We had the "Stefan Set" meal and it was absolutely amazing! The kimchi stew is 10/10 if you enjoy some spice! Also Stefan is a really friendly host and is very welcoming and friendly, you can tell he has put his passion into the place. I will be bringing my wife and 2 boys back here many times in the future.
We love it here! All the side dishes were delicious and the fried chicken was very tasty! The service was awesome and the owner was really accomodating! We will definitely coming back for the chicken and kimchi soup! ❤️❤️❤️
Bibimbab, Korean sausage and Korean style chicken were so delicious. Nice mood as well and I recommend this place to those who have never tried Korean BBQ before. Awesome experience!
We went last sat night. Wanted to book in advance but their phone line wasn't working. Realised they were down when I checked their IG page @letsgokoreanbbq. No probs, they're taking bookings through fb messenger. Quick response, easily booked. Food was great, we got the $59 set. Staff that were working were friendly and enjoyable to have looking after us. Made the experience that much better. Will be back!
