We go to old bike shop almost every weekend, they have a delicious, unique menu and really quick and great coffee (the breakfast tacos are the best)
The staff are welcoming and the cafe has a really great, unpretentious vibe.
It has become our home away from home on a weekend
I visit Brunswick East each month found this little cafe close to work fabulous food and music not to loud wonderful staff and menu my problem I enjoy one dish too much love this place!!!!!
Friendly staff, consistently excellent coffee and food. Saturday morning breakfast in the sun at the old bike shop is a highlight of my wife's week.
This cafe has become my second home. It’s dangerous living so close them. Great personal service, efficient, nothings a problem and the food is delicious. This weeks special is blowing my mind!!
Great food that hits the spot and excellent service. I love sitting in the big sunny north facing window - warm in winter and shaded in summer.
love it , the food is amazing and super tasty; the service is great and not in your face and the coffees rock!
What a great cafe. I ordered the breakfast tachos which were excellent. Great coffee, very friendly service and a really relaxing & inviting place. Loved it.
Great coffee great food and friendly staff....my morning local ☕️
my only problem was how long to stay, great breakfasts, do I just work my way through the menu?
Great staff - great coffee - great eggs on toast! A local asset.
Best coffee in Melbourne for sure! Try the breakfast tacos, no one will be dissapointed.
A really nice lunch! Had the Vege Bean Burger which was really yum! Chips were great too. Really friendly staff from the get go! Defs to return.
Thursday lunch. Very quiet, so service and attention was spot on. So was the food.
We decided on the Haloumi and Pea Fritter and the suggested soup special of the day which was tomato base with red lentils, chick pea and chorizo. Both dishes were excellent. The soup bursting with flavour and freshness. Very good value for money.
Killer Choc Brownie ....
We love converted heritage/vintage building with a bit of "new age" paint job .... graffiti :-)
This place is no different, enjoyable space, a few motor cycle memoriblia but more imporatntly the coffee is good and they have a killer Choc Brownie.
Must come back and try their Brunch Menu, thank you. JT - 06/07/2017
The old bike shop cafe located on Lygon Street is an old school diner style eatery that serves great food and coffee off a classic brunch menu in a unique environment. This spot seems to do rather well as it always appears busy with almost all the seating outside being occupied on most weekdays, but on a lazy Sunday afternoon it looked quite and our tummies where rumbling so we thought we would give it a try.
Upon entering we where greeted by a waitress who gestured for us to sit anywhere we pleased. The inside of the cafe is walled with old school Southern decorations featuring bits and bobs of motorcycle engines, hubs and fuel gauges. The interior features mostly tables for two with booth like seating along the back wall.
We chose to sit along the back wall in one of the comfortable booths and where presented with menus. The small menu features classic brunch items offering meals suited to everyones palate, whether you are in a savoury or sweet mood this menu has you sorted. After a quick yet assertive discussion we where ready to order opting for the usual long black along with the Jerk chicken burger and the granola.
The long black arrived promptly and was excellent. The brew was thick with a very fruity, acidic undertone with a subtle nutty palatable texture. The meals arrived shortly after and where presented exactly as described on the menu, simple yet delicious. The Jerk chicken burger with spicy blacked chicken breast, caribbean green mango coleslaw, shoestring fries and lime aioli was a hearty filling meal. The chicken breast was succulent and absolutely covered in a spicy thick rub of aromatic seasoning. The generous serving of shoestring fries where lovely and crispy and where a match made in heaven when combined with the utterly moorish, tart lime aioli. The refreshing green mango coleslaw cleansed the tastebuds well and soaked up nicely into the well toasted brioche style bun crafting for one hell of a Southern style burger.
The granola littered with coconut, almonds and seeds served with strawberry labne, banana and fresh berries served with my personally preference of almond milk was equally as indulgent. The true standout would have to be the huge clump of tart, thick and creamy strawberry labne that disguised the granola beneath. The labne was amazing as it was nice and tart with plenty of strawberry flavour. The granola was toasted well, packed with almonds, shredded smokey coconut and seeds was well balanced appealing to both salty and sweet palates absorbing the velvety almond milk. The added blueberries, banana and strawberries ensured the dish was fresh and filling.
The old bike shop cafe is a humble little cafe that is sure to leave one with a full belly and a penny or few to spare. The food is basic and simple but utterly delicious and the coffee is equally as good. The staff are super friendly and the services is great and it is know obvious why this place always appears busy.
Pork, Beans and a Turkish Roll
Another great brunch place on Lygon Street serving wonderful food, with good tasting coffee and plenty of places to sit.
I visited this place again when i lives in Brunswick, on a Saturday morning stumbling across it seeing good food and wanting to stop! We were seated outside on a summers day and offered water and coffee as standard! The Coffee came out and as i do like a flat white it tasted great, nice strong quality beans however it was lacking a bit of late art.
Then the menu, and interesting selection including most standard dishes but including a Mexican inspired one too. Pork and Beans Matt decided on, This consisted off Black beans, a ham hock, tomato, peppers, poached egg, potato hash and one of his favorites and the reason for the dish Corn bread! Sounding good, looking good and tasting so much better! full of flavor and texture is what he said and from my small taste I had to agree.
I went for the smaller dish of the egg and bacon roll served in a Turkish roll, served with a chili jam! the jam being the start of the dish with the addition of runny eggs.
Overall this place is in a great location with a great menu, coffee and service and being reasonable priced too, if i was in the area and i was peckish id consider going back!
Restaurant Type: Brunch Cafe
Our usual cafe had no outdoor seats available so we wandered down the road and decided to try the old bike shop cafe. Coffee was good, breakfasts were served quickly my partner had the green breakfast which was a nice array of eggs, mushrooms, feta, avocado, spinach and relish. I had the pea and halloumi fritters, which were just delicious. Will visit again
Stopped past here to grab a quick bite with my mum the other day. Living in the area my whole life and never noticing this place I was happy to try somewhere new.
We ordered a juice and a few coffees, eggs on toast, and fruit toast, pretty hard to go wrong. The coffee was decent, eggs poached well, and the fruit toast was dense and full of large pieces of delish dried fruits, probably the highlight of the day.
Cute little place, good service, affordable, and great location.
Solid café, good range of menu items and great coffee. The place is never too crowded which is a bonus. Sweet potato chips are delicious! 🍠 🍟
These guys know their coffee . Going with kids is a real winner - they just have the gentle touch. They are happy to customise dishes to your liking
One of my favourite locals for breakfast.
Friendly hard working staff.

And I love the Green Breakkfast.
The painting of the Johan Van Oldenbarnevelt..... I love it! Its the ship my Mum came over on. So Brunswick...
Great food and coffee. Lovely staff, they are always super friendly and on the ball! We have had the green breakfast and the haloumi and pea fritter, they are both awesome options. Really nice relaxed vibe.

Very nice grub, great coffee and friendly staff. Seems to be a very popular place to come and grab some brunch, will be back and will recommend to others.
This place is pretty popular on the weekends for brunch and you will see all sorts of people sitting outside. The food is good and better than your average brekkie fare.
Old favourite. Great coffee, friendly service, nice vibe. Have been serving locals well for years.
Great local relaxed. A great little local nearing the top end of Lygon Street, East Brunswick. Always a great chilled relaxed atmosphere, and on a nice day, outside is always a super spot. Coffee is always a winner and breakfast tacos are a fav. Cool Brunswick feel. Great people who work the floor and kitchen.
Friendly and fast for take away, the chicken sandwich is ace!
Ace Place!. Food is great and the staff are lovely. Best coffee I've ever had.
Gorgeous cap, big blob'o'choc powder on top, friendly staff, prompt service
Awesome spot!. The corn fritter with poached eggs is to die for! I added some avocado because I'm an addict.. Great coffee. Sat outside despite the chilly, windy day and loved it. Will come again!
Amazing coffee, bloody Mary's to kill for. Neil Young playing....what's not to like?
Relaxed and consistent. We love this place! Very comfortable seating and fabulous food that isn't just the traditional bacon and eggs.
The staff are attentive and friendly, coffee is brilliant and the food is great! Couldn't say a bad word about this place.
Great coffee, super friendly staff and Breakfast Tacos! That's all my boxes ticked :)
Great Vibe. I'm glad this place exists in Brunswick. It is great for large groups. There is enough room for me to fit the family in. We have been a few times now being new to the area. The place has a very American vibe. They even have the red plastic diner baskets they serve burgers in.The food is great and the staff are always friendly even when it is busy, impressive coffee as well, we will definitely be back.
Best coffee in the strip. Great coffee, music, décor and artwork Dan is the man.
poached eggs, bacon, avocado, fetta to die for!
Love this place. Great coffee, nice food and sweet tunes. Will definitely be back.
Best coffees in Brunswick! I know that's a massive statement but it's very true! Yummy food as well! Very busy on weekends for a reason so get in early!
Love the relaxed atmosphere and great food here. Recommend the green and red breakfasts. Coffees are nice.
Love this local Brunswick cafe! Consistently great coffee and food served by friendly staff. My favourite brunch is the Green Breakfast with poached eggs on sourdough, grilled mushrooms, feta, avacado, spinach and chilli jam - a classic with a twist.
I love this place! Unpretentious, great coffee and generous, hearty serves of food. Can happily alternate between the green and red breakfast l, always walking away feeling full and fulfilled
Best toasted tuna sandwich I’ve ever had (Swiss cheese, capers etc). Fab place.
Had a great brunch in the sun! Really big generous servings!
A cool bike themed decor and friendly staff. We had some coffees and the granola which was very good. A delicious mix of of nuts and muesli with a strawberry labne and a collection of fresh fruit. Would definitely come back for this.
Stopped by for coffee and breakfast on a Sunday. The cafe was busy with seating filled both inside and outside in the sun.
