So good! Only 14 dollars a whole dish . Fresh fish and good chips. They even give you tartare sauce and lemon. Nice atmosphere. Very simple and yummy!

Sea Salt is my go-to takeaway, I have tried nearly everything on the menu and it is absolutely stunning! The manager and all the staff are so polite and caring, the manager always goes out of his way to check that everyone is enjoying their meal. My favourite dishes include the teriyaki salmon, the chicken burger and the classic fish and chips! A wonderful spot for lunch, or dinner in the Carlton area! Family friendly.

We love Sea Salt! A regular for our Friday night fish and chip fix, we love the chips and the crispy fresh flake. Avoid the fish bites, they never taste as good as the flake. The only thing to make this place better would be if they'd offer a crumbed fish option 😜

Top notch fish n chips concept store. This place started off as a small shop selling mainly sushi hand rolls and takeaway fish n chips with 2 small tables out at the front. Many years later, it has transformed into such a magnificent place offering even more healthy options. Such a wide variety of seafood to choose from to pair with awesome salads to cater for any palate. Well done!

A lazy Friday night calls for fish and chips I say. And I was super happy to see Joe’s fish shop on ubereats. I ordered the fried pack which came with a whole lotta chips, a flake, a dim sim and a potato cake. Although I got an extra potato cake in there which was a nice little surprise! The deal came with a can of drink as well. A massive meal! Impressive fish, really thick chips with real potato and delicious potato cakes too. Really enjoyed the meal!

I’ve been eating here for as long as I can remember. When it comes to potato cakes, it doesn’t get any better then Joes. They still make them by hand and you can taste the difference. They have all your classics and they do them well and at a great price. Friendly family run business that I’ll continue to eat at. <br/>Did I mention those potato cakes?!!!

Nice local fish and chip joint that does all the basics. Good value for money and nice fresh produce. If your in the area and feel like fish and chips, Joe's is a safe bet.

A suburban Fish & Chippery, this is one of my favourite places. Simple and uncomplicated, the food is excellent. The chips are always crisp on the outside and smooth inside, the fish is firm but not overcooked. The staff are always smiling, the service is prompt and efficient. Just marvellous.

Can't go wrong! One of the best fish and chip shops in the area. I have been going there for 15 years and it has only improved in quality and tastiness. Great service, friendly staff and most of all....fantastic fish and chips! Highly recommend!

Whatever they've done they need to keep doing.<br/>I've been coming here for over two years now and it went from fab to drab. Upon returning there a few weeks back I saw new faces. I don't know if they've changed oils or a new supplier but the chips are perfect, the falafel wrap was delicious and the staff are so friendly. Keep up the good work!

SMH! Possibly the worst Ive ever had! I asked for extra cripsy, extra salt, I get extra soggy and close to no salt at all? not to mention my fish was burnt at the end/sides. I also once saw the old fella drop a sausage in batter on the floor, if he hadn't of noticed me seeing that, Im 100% sure he would've re served it. Ive never had to leave a review before but this is pathetic… I really Wouldn't recommend this place, unless you're all for poor quality fish thats probably kept in a freezer out back and not fresh that day. Definitely NOT coming back and wasting my money/time

This place is awesome. Have been coming here for a long time now, and recently there have been quite a few changes with the menu and also the quality of the food has definitely gone up a notch or two! Recently I tried the new falafel wrap and it was to die for. You could just tell that the falafel was home made and so was the sauce. My partner ordered the new chicken schnitzel burger with coleslaw and I had to have a bite, it was amazing. The chicken schnitzel is home made. You can really tell that a lot of effort has gone into the menu recently, with so many new additions, there's just so many new items to try. I have been coming to this local fish n chips shop for a long time now and nothing beats the home made potato cakes with their golden chips and of course you have to have it with chicken salt! They have a new guy on the grill and let me tell you he makes a mean killer burger. I did notice that the prices have gone up a little bit, but still it won't stop me from coming here, it's still the cheapest and nicest fish n chips shop in town!

One of the best fish n chip shops going around, authentic and good quality! The scallops are huge and juicy. Great menu selection with all the usual suspects. My go to fish n chip spot.

It may be fine for everyone else but I won't be going back.  Just too many errors to justify returning.<br/><br/>There is one thing I find unforgivable in food service and that is the serving of something burned, which is what my hamburger patty was.  All I could taste was charcoal.<br/><br/>Additionally, the chicko roll (which I'm not convinced was a genuine one) was overcooked.<br/><br/>Chips were under-salted.<br/><br/>Girl at the counter, after taking an order for grilled flake had the confirmation question: "No batter"?  Who puts batter on a grilled flake?

I often regular joes for chips and a chiko roll when I have the munchies. They mega chill. Joe is a rad dude. Gotta ask for the chips extra cooked from my experience. Peri peri chicken burger is good too.

Fantastic fish and chips. Absolutely great prices and probably the best fish and chips I've had in Melbourne. Although the pineapple fritter needed more sugar.

If you are near the area this is a place not to miss out. The owners are really friendly and the food is well prepared. The place is packed of people taking away during the week nights so you have to call in before or be very patient. The wait is worth. Fish is superb and the chips to die for.

Mouth full of bones. First try fail.. I don't like writing negative reviews, and this contrasts with most of the other reviews, but the king george whiting I just ate was partly inedible due to all the bones, large and small that I had in my first mouthful of fish. I had to spit it out. One or two bones is completely fine and reassuring because you know you're eating fish instead of flake, but there was more bones than fish on the first mouthful, and more large and small bones as well as the tail in the rest of the two fillets. A fish fillet by definition should be relatively free of bones. Also, the fish tasted weird, probably due to the beef or chicken from the burgers that were cooked on the same hotplate, and the chips that others said were good seemed pretty ordinary to me.<br/>This bad experience might be a one off but something's amiss with the quality control. I'm not giving them another chance.

Great Quality. My housemates and I have been eating at Joe's Fish and Chips on occasion for over a year now and have always been impressed. The quality of food is consistently good, prompt and friendly service, and generous portions. Chips are crispy perfection, sprinkled with a light coat of chicken salt. Highly recommend if you have a craving for great food.

Worst service ever!. So in a really good mood I walk into the shop with a smile and walk over to place my order. As I approach the counter I am faced with a young girl who isnt smiling and has no facial expression at all. All she says is "Yep"... Yep! really??? So I guve her the benefit of the doubt and smile and say "Hi.. can I please get a dinner pack please?" Her response was a dull "$9.00". No thankyou no smile no nothing. Again I give her the benefit of the doubt and smile as she gives me my change and say "Thankyou." Everyone in the shop has a shitful attitude. What ever happened to service with a smile. These people arent worthy of your money! Go down the road!

This shop is the best in the area. The people there alone make the shop, but the chip fish and humburgers you cant go wrong. On sunny days and nice nights we go there and grab our dinner or lunch go to a nice park and enjoy dinner wished we lived closer we only live 20mins but by the time we take home i presume they would go soggy and we will miss the wonderful taste of fish n chips. But please ppl go and gove this place a go and for ppl who havewritten horriable reviews im sure ur not perfect in ur job.. Another thing u know when u walk in a shop what would the standard of food be when how clean the place is omg it sparkles and the owners and the family that work there are all friendly and once again amazing fish n chips you know what just go and try it for yourselves! Shocked tonight when I picked up my order. As the girl behind the counter was placing my order in the bag she dropped the steamed dim sims on the floor (clearly by accident). She immediately picked them up off the floor and then just put them straight back in the bag. I looked shocked - which wasn't returned with an apology and an offer to replace the dim sims, instead she just gave me a dirty look (along with my dirty dim sims). Very poor form.

Local fave. Joe's does some of the better FnC in Melbourne. I am usually reluctant to buy fish in Melbourne because I grew up in Perth eating the delights of the Indian Ocean, but Joe's is certainly up there. KG Whiting was delicious, and the calamari was exceptional, and chips done the way they should be done.

Yum and reasonably priced. I've only had good experiences with food from here.<br/><br/>Barramundi is delicious and seems fresh, chicken burgers have real breast chicken in them, the chips are nice and a good portion. The potato cakes are a bit thick but still nice. My only recommendation is to ask for things to be well done, but I realise that might not be to everyones taste. Would trade again.

Try the calamari. I never have much of an expectation for FnC shops. I was very pleasantly surprised by the calamari however. perfectly cooked without a hint of chewiness.

Disappointing service.. Joe's Fish Shop is our local, and we go there fairly often. Our previous experiences have been fine, particularly as the shop is cheap and cheerful. However, on Saturday we made the mistake of phone ordering burgers (Chicken special and Vegetarian). The person taking phone orders clearly couldn't care less and when asked for the Chicken special, made a normal chicken burger. To be fair, it's called a Chef's Special, but surely asking for the special chicken burger should have had some impact. They also mislabelled the burgers, so that I ended up eating half of my long-time vegetarian housemate's burger before we realised the mistake. The chicken patty was barely distinguishable as a meat product and was near inedible. When we called to complain about the mistakes, we were met with the same uncaring attitude from earlier. The staff member's response was to describe the visual difference of the burgers, without acknowledging that giving a vegetarian a meat burger is a pretty significant screw up. After an insincere apology and a terrible experience, we've decided we're better off going elsewhere.

Yummy burgers. Fish 'n Chips is not my forte but oh-em-gee the burgers here are so good. Think classic, fresh and cheap. None of that hipster 'burger revival' $10 plus for a weird combination of fillings that will fall out of the bun business. Good old corner shop burgers are what you will get here. A burger with the lot is all you will need for your Friday night dinner in front of the footy. They do err on the side of not putting enough sauce on for my liking but it's easier to fix that than too much!

Used to go to Joes all the time, family run business. However, ordered hamburger with the lot. Meat patty was as thin as a bit of paper, burnt and tasteless. So disappointed for this business that was once an icon. Won't be going back.<br/>

Had fish n chips here for the first time. What a great place the freshest flake , potato cakes and dim sims. It was nice to have them and not have a full yucky feeling. I will definatley coming back !!!

Seriously, where is FnC heading in this city?. Anyone who regards the fish and chips from Joe's as being anything better than mediocre at best has not ever had good fish and chips. I am despairing that there is no one in this neighbourhood who cares about the cuisine of FnC, with everyone I've tried lacking the quality to help me avoid cooking on a Friday night. The only place in the north I have found is too far away in Carlton South. Arghhhhh...

The best fish and chips in the area! Speedy service and very friendly staff! Only down side is they close at 8pm on Wednesday and are closed Monday. Otherwise I highly recommend!!!!

Yuck!. Absolutely the worst takeaway I have ever had in my entire life. When asked what fish they would recommend grilling from the menu, the reply was "flake". They have absolutely no idea about fish. I received my grilled flounder and they had battered it first, they had missed the whole point of grilling it in the first place. It was completely ruined, it tasted like glue and I could only eat two bites before throwing it out. I'm not a fussy eater but honestly, the chips weren't even good. I don't know how you can stuff up chips! My partner had the battered fish and his was barely edible also. Nothing could convince us to return to this place.

Standard, solid fare. Great place with good service but standard 'fish and chip' shop fare (though great value chips). They could probably benefit with some market research, for instance updating their burgers to compete with places like Beatbox or B.East, bringing in people who like the burger revival but don't need the hipster aspect. Although, that could be bad because I would eat there nightly.
