Review Crafternoon Brunswick - Brunswick

Reem Albesher
Great cafe to take your kids!! Love the idea of the cafe where you can have a break drinking a coffee while your child/toddler enjoys craft activities. Very friendly staff.
SJK
Great experience. A cafe where we can sit and relax chat have a coffee while our children do craft activities. Would go back. A friend booked a birthday party for her daughter based on our experience!

Had an excellent experience with my very messy toddler this morning. Enjoyed my coffee while she painted away. Staff were very kind and understanding which is not always the case when you have small children. My 21 month old had a couple of tantrums at one point and staff member was very accommodating and understanding of her mood at the time which I appreciated. I felt very welcomed with my children and enjoyed the craft activities myself. It was hands down the most child friendly cafe I’ve ever been to. Certainly didn’t get any ‘stares’ here for bringing my children along to my coffee session.

We had a lovely morning celebrating Father's Day at Crafternoon. The staff were lovely and the food was nice. There was a good selection of craft on the menu. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the craft equipment and the cafe generally. I have a three and one year old so eating out is tricky, it is nice to have found somewhere that keeps everyone happy.

We always have an amazing time here at Crafternoon and today was no different. Staff are fun, friendly and very understanding of what comes with having children in a cafe and accommodate them beautifully. The crafts are always fantastic and keep my 3 year old very entertained. Food is always great as well. Great idea pulled off beautifully by the atmosphere and culture created by all the staff. Highly recommend this place!

This place is outstanding. My 19month old loved it. Loved. It. The service is excellent and the space is more than kid friendly, it's designed for kids. The food was good and the coffee was good. They provide all the crafts you could want and clean it up with a smile! It's heaven.

Friendly staff,nice food,good atmosphere,clean,bright,fresh decor

This place is so much fun. The staff are friendly and great at helping you choose a project. The food is basic but tasty and there are some fun options like the cupcakes that come with a pallette of decorations to do yourself. I've been with kids and adults and everyone always has a great time.
Janine Fisk
This is such a fun place! The food is great, which is always a bonus, but the staff and craft make this a great place to visit with your kids, great value and will now be our go to cafe for happy kids and parents!
Mel Anie
I was so impressed with the staff! My goodness they really went above and beyond to make Mr 4 and I feel welcome. Service like that just isn’t the norm any more!! They were kind, funny and genuinely enjoyed having a cafe full of kids compliments to the Chef too!!! My Happy Crafter Breakfast was spectacular. Thankyou so much for a fun, relaxing and delicious day out. 10 stars out of 5 stars xxx

First time here - loved the welcome by the staff, their kindness towards the little ones, lots of choice of activities & food was delicious

A great place to entertain the kids while enjoying a coffee. Not only for kids though, adults can do crafty stuff too. Great service and lots of activities to choose from. Not a place where you can do everything in one visit and very well worth going back to. This has become one of my daughters favorite go to places during the school holidays.
Alina Drew
Great idea! With great staff and food! The girls had an awesome time and bought home several masterpieces! Highly recommended this cafe!
Fatima Daoud
Love how chilled back this place is and the craft are awesome for both adults and kids
Linda Hamze
Great fun for adults and children alike! Love bringing my little ones in for art and craft, while I enjoy a coffee and slice of cake. Staff are lovely, very accommodating, and lots of activities for the little ones

Went there today for a bonding session with miss 5. She had a blast, declared she wanted to live there. The staff are so friendly and helpful, and the prices are very resonable. Best part is no cleaning up! The food was lovely, and i had just as much fun as her, after three hours and counless activities miss 5 agreed to leave only if we could return again, which i myself cant wait to do. Thanks for a great day!

An interesting space with great coffee, food and staff :D

EDIT: I was here for a children’s birthday party, but have now been here for the “regular” Crafternoon experience. <br/><br/>The food we had was pretty good, while the coffee was OK. Average. If you’re only going for food and coffee, which I saw some people doing, I wouldn’t rush to come here. Brunswick/Coburg is filled with great cafes. However, Crafternoon is the PERFECT place to go if crafts, or simply having something to keep your kids busy, is an important factor. <br/><br/>One thing I’ll say about the food is that the menu is mostly — I’d guesstimate 2/3rds — is vegetarian food, while meat dishes are a side focus. Even as a meat-eater, I think the focus on vegetarian food is fantastic!!! Most meals can have meat added to it (bacon), but I think people should just accept the fact that a meal doesn’t NEED meat to taste good. I was very satisfied with the menu, and my meal (Mount Mushroom). This is in direct contrast to most other cafes and restaurants, where vegetarian options are a bit of an afterthought.

the place is full with warmth, as you will find small kids with their parents enjoying morning brunch and drawing together, its like a small kinder-garden where kids to be themselves and enjoy the company of parents.<br/>The parents get to live their kinder-garden moments again. so i guess to get back to nostalgic moments, this is an ideal place to clear up the head and enjoy your kids.<br/>i liked the hospitality of staff also food is great, priced reasonable. a must go place highly recommended if you are around.

Great cafe to take your kids!! Love the idea of the cafe where you can have a break drinking a coffee while your child/toddler enjoys craft activities. Very friendly staff.
Sophie
I love this place, I come here with the girls I babysit and they enjoy it, especially the craft side of things, the food and drinks are good too. It’s great for kids of all ages as they do craft whilst eating.
Yun Peng
Nice cafe on Sydney Rd. Interesting decor for kids offering arts and crafts supplies. Coffee was average and the barista was friendly. Will come back for breakfast sometime when in the area!
Plant Based Mum
Whoever came up with the idea of combining a cafe with craft activities to keep your little ones occupied was a genius! Crafternoon is the very definition of kid friendly and family friendly. They offer brunch, light meals and the all important coffee for mum and dad, combined with craft activities for kids...what a perfect morning or afternoon out for the whole family! @plantbasedmum_

Absolutely tremendous place. My 19month old loved it. The staff were amazingly friendly and the service was very good. <br/>They have fun options for kids of all ages and I would suggest it to all families. There's a park about 50m away with 3 slides, swings and lots of open space. <br/>The food and the activities are excellent. <br/>I could not recommend this more highly.
IloveMelbourne
I have been her a few times now with a friend and her daughter. I always get the mushroom mountain which is delicious.  I have found the staff to be so friendly and helpful.  The craft ideas are awesome and great for young kids.
C3PO
It's a great cafe to come for a coffee and enjoy one of their fluffy muffins. Always fresh and the service is very friendly and you always feel welcome.
Celeste
Not as child friendly as they make out. A staff member told my friend that her daughter was too disruptive when she was making an inconvenient amount of noise. When questioned about this statement she described my friend's child as "attention seeking". So rude and off-putting. As a local who likes the good, but expensive food, i will definitely not be returning as i was saddened by what occurred by the unapologetic staff member. Shame on you
Osk Gunnarsdttir
Very child friendly but food and coffee need to improve. We found it a little expensive and it would be great to see little more recycling.<br/>Great friendly service..i expect it would be a good.bday party solution for some!
Sylvia's POV
The provision of crafts and coffee is definitely an interesting concept. The shop interior is colourful and welcoming with absolutely delightful staff. Dropped in with two friends and we throughly enjoyed the experience.
Eucalyptus
Outstanding! I had the sunnyside burrito followed by the rich chocolate milk shake. Also very kid and grown-up friendly.<br/><br/>Coloured pencils added to the fun.
Sonia
The staff were super friendly and helpful. This place is for parents and young children...and there is kitchen fridge style craft everywhere. My toasted sandwich was good, the haloumi wasn't too salty and well cooked and the beetroot, on the sweet side.
Green Gourmet Giraffe
I really loved visiting Crafternoon.  The idea of craft activities while eating out really appeals.  The craft and food on offer is quite overwhelming but there are lots of good options and an awareness of dietary options.  It is an entertaining place with lots to do and look at, newspapers and books to peruse, and fun names for meals like "Happily Ever Crafter".
TwoLittle Ducks
Great for kids, good menu, lovely service, just a tad pricey for me to be able to come here often <br/>I recommend it for kids over 3 but there are toys for the younger ones to play with and it's a really fun space
Amanda
The concept of the cafe is pretty cool, and I'd have definitely spent more time there if I was more artsy and not pressed for time. Staff were friendly, and they seemed patient when dealing with the other kids in the cafe. <br/><br/>I had the mushroom mountain with extta haloumi, and it was so yum! Though I might be a bit biased because I love anything mushroom.. My friend had the ice chocolate, which she finished even before my food arrived, because her glass was filled with lots of ice (too much) :( She did leave a piece of artwork there, so I think she enjoyed her visit overall.
Maria Spano
This place is awful because the service and the food was terrible.<br/>It is a great concept and coffee was good.<br/>I hope they improve for their sake.
Good Eats
This place is cool. Stopped past today and got a pumpkin toastie that was tasty, had a nice coffee and made some badges! I drew a picture of my dog and shit. Man, I'm 29 and this place. You like food? You like coffee? You like arts and crafts?! Booooooooom. <br/>
Lana
I came here for lunch with my girlfriend and we made some badges, such a great idea! Food, coffee and staff were excellent, highly recommend!
Q
Took my niece here for an Aunty & niece morning of crafts and we had a lovely time. The bacon & egg roll was delicious and the coffee was fantastic. Will definitely head back with the kiddies but mainly for the coffee.
CheeseAndCrackers
Food was terrific, fresh, tasty, resonably priced. A few original dishes on the menu which is always a treat. But the thing I love the most about crafternoon is well...the craft! Sure it's technically aimed at kids but let me tell you, you will find your inner child when painting a plaster turtle, or making a crown, or playing with play-doh. It is very relaxing and fun. The space is large and you can have craft parties there as well. The only blip was a chocolate beetroot cake that tasted too beetrooty for me. More chocolate please! Great brunch.
Stephanie Buckle
Love this place! Saves my sanity, lovely staff and the ability to drink a coffee in almost peace. Kids adore the craft options available and never get bored even though we visit all the time
Freya Carson
A great place to learn to play again. Easy atmosphere and not just for the kids. Good good and friendly staff. Very inspiring that this kind of place exists.
Reiko Aragaki
Crafternoon is definitely one of my favorite cafes in Brunswick. Good hospitality and friendly staff! My recommendation is frenchtoast and moca!
Jess Ferdinand
This cafe would be mediocre at best in a town with no surrounding cafes. The fact that this cafe is in Carlton with countless better options to choose from makes me amazed it is still open. We were overcharged for lukewarm coffee, cucumber sandwiches and tiny puff pastry ... things. I would pay $30 a head for a full serve delicious breakfast in a place with nice ambience and good service and good coffee. This is not that place. Overpriced because of the novelty of crafts, which they also charge for. Would not recommend, go for a stroll down Rathdowne st instead and bump into nicer cafes and spend half the amount of money. If you have children, take them somewhere else and byo piece of paper and broken pencils. Same experience with undoubtably better food for not extortionate prices.
Kathryn
How I WISH this cafe existed when I was a kid! Being a non parent, I come here to study as the cafe has big beautiful tables, paper and assorted coloured pens at my instant disposal. The creative and buzzy environment creates a lovely cosy vibe.

Great craft x brunch idea! <br/>Friendly staff... <br/>We liked the brunch options <br/>and we loved that carrot cake... One of the best we had...<br/><br/>
Coburg Dweller
A mixture of good and average. Love the concept, friendly staff and nice coffee. <br/><br/>A lot of the food being served looked good, but mine was neither great nor bad.<br/><br/>I've been twice with my daughter to get a 'decorate your own cupcake' - the first time there were no cupcakes, despite an a-frame sign out the front advertising them. The second time they were so hard and stale that a) I didn't want to eat it and b) you really couldn't decorate it because the icing was hard and all the decorations just fell straight off. Quite disappointing, especially at $7.
Meetoo
The staff were helpful, un-phased by mess/requests/noise and the food options were geared perfectly for the audience – as mums it was a very comfortable and welcoming environment.

All day, every day.. Our go- to cafe/restaurant whenever we vist Melbourne. Simply the best! Always , we get great service. Delicious, good value food and coffee. Really, just a fun time, as you scribble whatever you fancy, while you wait for your order. Very pleasant staff, and ambience. Yummy food. <br/>Stands out in a competitive business. Well worth a visit.

Yummy and fun!. Great service from the ladies and a delicious chai latte! My mushroom and lentil soup was divine and my friend loved her Daily Decadence! Badge making was just fantastic, a great girls lunch! Thanks ladies!

My girls favourite cafe!. I have been going here with my daughters for over a year and never had a bad experience. They always ask to visit Crafternoon whenever we go to the Museum. Friendly staff and good range of food (I like the evening menu also). Very kid friendly (obviously). Keep it up - you are doing great things!
Alex
Went with my 3 year old boy and wife and had a lovely experience the staff made a good coffee and quick with breakfast will come back for sure
Sandy Cumerford
Fantastic cafe. I love the food. Great breakfast choice and the dinner meals are just delicious. Very friendly and caring staff. The craft is wonderful for the kids and also the adults. I will definitely be making this a regular place to visit. I had such a great time there.
HappyLittleMelburnite
Sadly, I have to agree with the others who left negative reviews. The staff/owner are rude :( Absolutely love the concept, so stopped by to try it out - I was thinking of having my daughter's birthday party here. While I love the crafts, I don't want to risk spoiling my daughter's birthday on the off chance the staff/owner are having another "off" day. What a shame! :(
Jade
Wonderful!. Totally, genuinely kid friendly cafe. My toddler had a ball painting at the table - excellent destination for a dreary day! Expect the kind of awesome chaos that accompanies groups of children, babies and adults having fun! Great kids menu, staff lovely and helpful, big pots of chai - highly recommended!!
Matt Rossner
Great vibe, lovely staff and the food and coffee is damn good. I love being able to draw on the free craft paper while I work away at my flat white.
Cass
This is one of my favourite places. Always welcoming. Great chai. Friendly staff. I recommend it to everyone.

Used to come here quite often however the service seems to be slipping, along with the quality food. High turnover of staff isn't exactly a good sign- nor is the fact that the 'boss' seems to be regularly barking at her staff and seems quite rude. Witnessing a manager telling staff off or being bossy toward them doesn't make for a great atmosphere in such a small space. Very awkward indeed. Agree with the other reviewers- too small to accommodate prams, no change table and sometimes the staff make it seem like its 'too hard' to organize craft and be accommodating to children. Not a very child friendly space considering the premise. Unfortunately there aren't more cafes like this to choose from, but I will hesitate returning here in future.

Was really excited to finally go to Crafternoon but am sad to report the staff were a bit rude. I also think it's poor charging a "craftage/corkage" fee for patrons who bring their own craft e.g knitting etc as they could be doing this at any cafe for free. Coffee was okay but I just felt the visit was let down by the surliness of the staff. One of the 3 girls working was pleasant, but the other 2 just acted like we were a drain when we asked to use the craft supplies. Let down :( especially as I'd read so many great reviews and loved the concept.
Teerah
What a great little cafe! Love the concept and that it's vegan friendly. Not often that you can share the quaint Melbourne cafe style with young family members- I wish my sister and her kids lived here so we could have somewhere to catch up!!
Lila
Great Cafe. I've been to Crafternoon a few times now. I love the tofu burger (has the best beetroot relish EVER) and I always enjoy making a new badge or bottle opener. The staff are always really friendly and it's a great atmosphere.
Manfood
Super friendly, with top-notch coffee and food!. The concept of this cafe is terrific, and the food and coffee is also. <br/><br/>I've been frequenting Crafternoon for months now, and despite how popular this little spot gets, they manage to maintain their unpretentiousness and huge smiles. <br/><br/>Whether you're stopping in for a coffee to go, brunch with friends, a spot to do some work during the weekday or to get a craft fix, this place will not disappoint. <br/><br/>Highly recommend anything from the menu with mushrooms (seriously, how do you get them to taste so great?). Also, the bacon and egg roll is the best thing out there this side of $10. Can't get enough. <br/><br/>Kudos, guys! Will be back again and again and again!

What an interesting experience at Crafternoon... food & coffee lets just say not great.. .. kids sausage rolls came out burnt., our breakfasts was just boring , staff did not explain how it all worked .. Seriously its not difficult , clean the table get the menu, bring water, explain how the 'craft' works. take orders .. none of it happened we sat patiently for at least 10 minutes and then we did it ourselves, order coffee at counters and meals , asked them how it all worked ... if you are going to have an open kitchen PLEASE make sure staff are using gloves , hair tied back ... etc etc... On a positive side the concept is great ... a lady came out which I can only assume the manager or the owner who attentively helped the new customers coming in , explained the craft and was very lovely... unfortunately we will not return .. shame as it is a local unless things drastically improve.. Good luck anyway...
Yummymummy
OH&S alert!. Café was very cramped, does not accommodate prams, freezing cold inside, no change room facilities, dangerous kitchen, no barrier securing kitchen, so little hands can touch hot ovens and sharp things. Will NOT revisit!
Katie Mo
Great for my toddler. I've only been here once, but we loved it and we'll be back. It is so perfect for a rainy day, with toys, books, and, of course, craft!! There's a food menu and a craft menu, reasonably priced.<br/>The food was yummy, but the scones were quite disappointing, and tiny.
Noni
Delightful. Went for breakfast with a friend on Sunday, great little place coffee was lovely, staff were great.
Mudluscious
We love Crafternoon!. My two-year-old and I are regulars here and we just love it. Good coffee, good food, fun things to make, lovely staff - what more could you ask for? A great rainy-day spot for little kids and grown-ups alike.

Quirky little store I drove past every day on my way to uni and said to myself each time 'I MUST check that place out!'<br/>I'm glad I did! The food was delicious! Although I'm a little apprehensive about their 'home made' baked beans. They seem more like tinned beans with a few extras added to it. Nonetheless, the service was good, the tea and coffee delicious and the breaky was very tasty!<br/>Eggs poached perfectly! (Seems hard to find somewhere that does it right) <br/>To top it off I got to show off my very bad artistic skills to my partner. <br/>It brightened up my Sunday morning! <br/>Loved it!

Made a visit to crafternoon recently with a friend who'd wanted to try it. It's a cute little place on a quiet strip of Nicholson st. We ordered breakfast first and were given a sheet of paper to let loose on with the pot of coloring pencils and crayons on the table. Breakfast was good although not overly inventive. Once the eating was out of the way it was time to do some craft. We opted to make badges out of the choices on offer that included trinket boxes and painting a plate. The badge could be a bottle opener or a mirror. Very cute. I opted for the bottle opener and my friend for 2 of each and we set to work raiding the magazines and books on offer for our art. I must say it was actually quite a lot of fun and we probably carried on a bit due to our excitement but the staff didn't seem to mind! We were blown away by how our badges turned out as they get pressedwith a glossy finish at the end. Although this is obviously a great place for kids I think we got a lot out of it because it's not something we'd normally do (inner child and all that). I love my bottle opener while my friend struggled with the fact that she'd actually made hers as gifts now doesn't want to give them away!
Melissa Smith
Love love this place! The food was delicious, the staff absolutely lovely and I came home with a couple of badges :-) Perfect for little kids and big ones too!
Daniani
Love it!. I absolutely LOVED Crafternoon. We spent a few hours here just painting away and getting in touch with our inner child. The food was beautiful and I love that you customise your cooked brekky. On top of that, my cupcake was great (soooo much yummy buttercream!) and the entire day was great value at $25 each for breakfast, a coffee, a shared pot of tea, a cupcake and painting. I can't wait to come back!
Emily
Loved it. Great coffee, lovely people, amazing food and great vibe. Cafe's don't get much better than that!
Kbelle
Food and service here is top notch. Highly recommend a visit to crafternoon, and make sure you try the home made muffins!
JC
The concept here is awesome and truly awakens the child within. Very well priced food for the serving I received and the coffee was delicious...!
Tim Marshall
Love this place! Such a unique concept. Great coffee and really decent priced (and delicious) food! I'm officially a regular
