So good! Delicious pizzas. I pretty much would have been happy with any of the options on the menu but didn't have to choose because my friends ordered...and we had four and they were all great. Also love the ambiance - it's a twisty turny layout with loads of room, different areas, outdoor space and even a pool table.
Corker of a Pizza place. Nice intimate vibe and great choices. We have been here about 10 times and all the vego options are excellent and we have tried them all. The only suggestion I have is to perhaps put a bit more cheese on the pizzas.
The biggest highlight of the night was definitely Pianoke a great atmosphere, service and food 👍

Compass pizza is my local and my regular go to. Living on lygon st pizza competition must be tight but there's no comparison. I walked down to pick up my order and the rain started- heavily- I called to get delivery but on a Friday night the que was quite long so I rugged up and made the journey down- as I picked up my pizza they gave me a left over umbrella to make my journey home and it honestly made my night.

Great spot for trivia and a vegan pizza (at no extra charge!) Added bonus that there are specials on nearly every night. The space is old school in a way that reminds me of my youth, hitting up American pizzerias with brick interiors and 70s aesthetics. Be warned that trivia nights fill up so get in early or book in advance.

Came here on a Monday night and was surprised to see that they do 2 for 1 pizza deals on Mondays! We ordered Super and Marinara pizzas and they came out promptly.
Marina was ok, plainer than Super as there were less toppings, but the flavours in Super was great. Although they weren't very generous with their seafood and meat toppings, it was decent for a cheap meal. The handmade pizza dough was perfect too.
It was a cozy bar-like restaurants with soothing background music which was not too loud and not too soft. All the staff were super friendly and helpful and the chill vibe is very fitting of Brunswick.
I would definitely come back here for the pizza on a Monday night.
Ok pizza. Not amazing, not terrible, but does the job when you're in the mood for a pizza fix. Crust is a bit on the dry side but toppings not too bad. It's not going to change your world or anything but it is a decent neighborhood pizza shop.
Compass Pizza has a super laid back vibe. Staff were very friendly but if you're not in the know you won't find out about their specials - luckily the friend I was with already knew about their 2 for 1 pizza deal on a Monday.
The pizzas were ok. I got the blue cheese and broccoli pizza and the toppings were pretty tasty. But the gluten free base really let the whole pizza down - thin but doughy, maybe it just needed to be cooked a bit more? My friend enjoyed his regular pizza so the normal base is definitely better. That said the pizza sizes are large and at two for 1 very cheap.
So it was the night of Valentine's Day, we were really hungry and were not in the mood to cook.
Compass Pizza is just a few steps away from our house, we reached there when it was almost closed, thankfully ours was the last order that they agreed to take.
We ordered a vegetarian mushroom and broccoli pizza for take away. It was very tasty, trust me one of the best veg pizzas I've had in Melbourne and it was sufficient for two.
There's a lot of pizza places around this area but this is by far the best. Delicious pizzas & grooves retro space. Friendly staff & low key while being expensive. It's my go to now.

An unexpectedly cheap meal given the two-for-one offer. Order and pay at the bar, collect the drinks right away and two satisfying marinara and casalinga pizzas were served quickly to the table. Dim lighting adds ambience, pool table at the back and live entertainment lined up on Saturday nights.
We love Compass - great pizzas and friendly service. The La Bussola pizza with green capsicum, mushrooms and ham is an absolute winner. Really tasty and it even feels healthy which is rare for a pizza.
I had previously found Compass to be a bit hit and miss, and I'd been frustrated at times with a lack of sauce and cheese on their Pizza's.
I'm not sure what's changed but they appear to have picked up their game big time. The margherita was absolutely delicious, with a perfectly soft and chewy base, and a generous amount of sauce, basil and mozzarella.
The chicken pizza was also excellent, with a real effort being put into providing fresh and tasty ingredients.
As long as Compass keep serving up pizza of this quality I'll definitely be back!
Lemme update you in 2017: This is a really great place if you want some decent food for a great price. It might look like a 90's Italian joint from the outside but it's been firmly handed down the generations and there's no shredded "ham-style matchsticks" in sight. They always have some excellent food specials on the weeknights, a really good selection of vegan/GF options and I love the sides including the chopped broccoli with hazelnuts, and the kale salad.
The food isn't spectacular, but the pizzas are pretty tasty and they always have a great rotation of specials including some seasonal pizzas like fig and prosciutto, fresh artichokes etc. Pasta is also always pretty decent but for me, I mostly just come for the discount pizzas and that delicious chopped broccoli.
Have had both dine in & takeaway here and loved it! My new regular pizza place. They also have 2 for 1 pizza on Tuesday's.
And they have vegan cheese!!

Went here on a wednesday night for 'date night' with the wife. I had high expectations after the write up in the paper. I really liked it.
There was a little bit of a wait at the front door with no one directing traffic & everyone working there looking very busy. But find your own way to a table, sit down & someone will promptly appear with menus & water.
There are 3 pizza chefs, 1 dude answering the phones, 2 chefs out the back & JUST ONE person on the floor. She worked so hard. excellent waitress, informative & everything you could want. You would swear she was four the way she worked.
Now on to the important stuff THE PIZZA.
We shared 2 small & 1 large pizza between us (we tried the chicken, fennel & cablo nero special as a small, then the old trust capriccoisa also as a small & then a large of the second pizza special of italian pork sausage & braised fennel).
The pizzas are heavily topped with yummy ingredients on a medium thickness of pizza base which is surprisingly crunchy (so good). It was good, like really good. the beer list is small but nice I had a 500ml bottle of 4 pines pale ale (great beer for pizza). My only negitive about the pizza is they use that cheap mozzerella that kinda goes rubbery as soon as it cools, which is a shame as everything else was pretty good & very reasonably priced ($45 for the lot).
We were to full to try dessert but they happily provided us with a box to take home our left over pizza slices.
Will certainly be back
Great food and service. Nice beer selection and the tiramisu is excellent!!! Go on a Tuesday for 2for1 pizza, can't go wrong. Good restaurant for a group taking into account the cost and share ability of pizza.

The pizzas are no longer bereft of toppings and seasoning, and I haven't been given attitude by an old jerk in months. I can't say I miss the angry sods....
They have excellent beers, and on my last visit my friend's pasta looked so delicious he wouldn't let me near it!

Great pizza and service to match. I'd never been to La Bussola but saw this place had opened and decided to give it a try. The pizza was excellent, atmosphere was warm and cosy (the wallpaper is magnificent) and staff were super friendly. We'll be back.
Great value, delicious thin crust pizzas - this one is a winner!. I went here for dinner with a group of friends for some pizza and drinks. The pizzas were beautiful thin crust pizzas with simple and delicious toppings - just like a good pizza should be.
The food plus the original decor in the dining area (think nonna's dining room) and tasty beer and wine means that this pizza bar will be a regular for us for sure. Loving the affordable price too ($15 for large). We couldn't believe how cheap the dinner ended up being for the whole group of us.
You have to try the broccoli pizza (with blue cheese!!), the super and the potato pizza, - these were definitely my favourites. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

Really great place - will be back. Went for lunch here yesterday. I had the pumpkin ravioli and my partner had the Americana pizza. Both were delicious. Service was quick and super friendly. Lovely old school Italian decor that one would find in Venice. Highly recommended.
Excellent pizza, well priced and sized for a large (~$15). Pickup only but the bar / seated area had a nice, warm glow to it. I'll definitely be back to eat in or takeaway on a lazy Friday night.
Don't listen to what others are saying below. Compass Pizza is incredibly well priced and excellent quality food. The atmosphere is warm and homely, Motown music (with some nineties hip hop when it's late). I've eaten the gnocchi, tortellini special and the pumpkin ravioli special. ALL of these pastas are made by hand and the gnocchi is the best I've had anywhere on the north side. No longer is this place about cheap meat and dried pasta, instead the pastas are innovative and creative. Ham and provolone tortellini in a veal and mushroom ragu. Pumpkin ravioli and brown butter with smoked almonds. Huge range of pizzas and fresh bases- all made fresh that day. Now they have a nice selection of wines and beers too. They use real fresh fior de latte too on the Margharita. Thumbs up for the grain salad too.
Worth trying. Went here tonight with some interpretation as we have had many a friday night pizza and pasta with our BYO wine
But now no BYO which is dissapointing as the food is very good both pizza and gnocchi.
Also a big mention to our waitress Nichole who was very helpful and charming but our group said with no byo it wont be a regular any more for us not when your paying near $40 for a bottle of wine thats not kept at ideal drinking temp and tastes like luke warm tea and can be purchased for$15 in a bottle shop.. every thing was good but please owners bring back BYO
One of the best pizzas I have ever had in Melbourne! Located on the quieter side of lygon st, the vibes were amazing and staffs were super friendly. We had dinner on a Saturday night and there were live music. The marinara pizza was absolutely amazing. They also have a bar section for drinks. Would highly recommend for a great catchup with friends!
Compass Pizza (Brunswick) is a great local restaurant. I've been eating there for some time. The food has always been great, they have a great selection of pizzas, kitchen food and alcohol. And on certain nights they have live entertainment. The service is great and friendly. I walked into Compass Pizza Tuesday night and was greeted and served by Zoe and Carlie who did a great job. I don't know the girls personally, but l made sure l got their names because they have been doing such a great job, that l think it's nice for Zoe and Carlie to see their names on a good review. Anyone who's seen my reviews knows l don't write bad reviews, if l don't like a place l just don't go back. Compass Pizza is one restaurant you should try. Go in have a great meal and a great night. Great place to have pizza or pasta with some drinks. The place has friendly staff, awesome chilled vibes on top of live music at times. The foods were so good that I had to come back for a take away pizza during the lockdown.
The perfect Melbounre hipster pizza joint. The food was good and generous, with a wide variety of pizzas and complementary dishes. On Sunday night there was live music - really great indie singer who was just right for wine beer and pizza. Friendly staff and reasonable prices.
Went there for Pizza They have buy one get one free Monday night's. It was pretty popular. Thet also have board games you can play. It is a very funky place with a very trendy crowd. The pizza were good value and the entree sounded really yum. Very reasonably priced.
