What a lovely man Franko is He greets everyone with that "old Italian Charm " its like eating at his own home .. The staff are so attentive and pleasant. . The food is to die for omg omg the Ossobucco is heaven on a plate . Love this place and highly recommend dining there .
Holy crap the meal was awesome. Whoever cooked the burgers and chips is a wizard straight outta hogworts. Best tasting and value meal in ages. Top notch guys! 😁

The food is amazing and the customer service is great. Anyone who wants a good Italian dinner, I highly recommend this restaurant! Also being in a great location which is easy to access is anther great feature of this restaurant. But the food and the people are great! I would deffinatly go back again.
Had the best experience at The Phoenix Bar, there was a bit of confusion, however they were more then generous when it came to sorting it out. I'd recommend this place to anyone and everyone. Extremely happy!!

Food is excellent and mainly Italian including pizzas. Seafood were lovely and fresh and tables were covered in pristine white tablecloths.
Went as a large group and all were happy. Good bang for your bucks!

Absolutely magnificent food and service with outstanding value food and wine. I discovered this little gem just walking past and wasn't disappointed. The owner oversees everything and the atmosphere is so warm and friendly.
Came here with the Groupon seafood voucher. First impressions is that this place was quite fancy with their table clothes and wine glasses all out and folded white napkins. Was really impressed with the amount and quality of seafood given to us. I felt that I got more value than what the voucher cost. You get so much, Moreton Bay bugs a whole fish, 2 fillets of fish, octopus, oysters, scallops, calamari, prawns in sauce, crab (a whole aquarium!) all cooked well not overcooked and best of all it all came out fast within 15 minutes of us sitting down. The service was good too, the two girls were attentive to all tables and consistently replaced our waste plates for shells and stuff so that they never piled up to much which I thought was A+. I don't know about the rest of the menu but I would not hesitate to buy the voucher again if I'm feeling for a seafood feast!

Liked the elegant setting of the restaurant with white tablecloths, a nice spot for date night or an intimate gathering. Service was impeccable, there were three waitresses and they were all very dedicated to their role and incredibly attentive. Throughout the meal we were asked at least 2-3 times if everything was alright and if we needed any more drinks etc. The water came with ice and a slice of lemon per glass, and mine even came with a straw. How thoughtful :) We had garlic bread, rib eye steak, whole grilled flounder and a risotto marinara. The flounder was the best dish out of all - it was well-cooked, flavoursome and good value. The rib eye however was a bit of a disaster. The chef must've forgotten about the timing and totally overcooked it (we asked for medium) with one side of the steak very burnt. The risotto marinara was average, it lacked some sort of flavour punch and was kind of watery. Perhaps the food tonight was only a minor inconsistency so I might come again sometime to try other dishes (the $10 and $15 dishes look pretty tempting).
I found this place while walking down Sydney Road. A sign outside the restaurant advertised $10 and $15 meals so we went inside to check it out. I was expecting a pubbby set-up but instead we were met with proper tables with white tablecloths! A friendly waiter took us to our table. We ordered herb bread as a starter, I had the gnocchi and my partner ordered a pizza. The food was delicious and plentiful. So much so that we had to take the remainder of our meals home. The bill came to $55 for our food and two drinks. Hard to beat that for a proper meal in Brunswick unless it's a pub. The friendly service topped it off.
Stepped into this Italian restaurant because I saw they had an interesting seafood platter from their window .
Well , every other table ordered the seafood platter because they have got voucher from Groupon or OurDeal , great price from $69-$89 depends on if you choose with or without lobster. Great deal indeed !
However as we didn't have any voucher , we decided to leave the seafood platter to next time . The main chef strongly recommended this wagu beef steak which weighs 1200gm together with three shares of vegetables , cost at $98 . Not bad at all.
Not only looking good , the taste of the steak is absolutely yummy ! Red wine sauce and I also ordered English masters sauce . Well, I am a spicy lover .
Service is great ! I definitely will recommend it to my friends and myself will go back to try their seafood platter !

My husband and I had lunch and dinner at the PHOENIX. Lunch was great. The SEAFOOD PLATTER for dinner was the best we have ever had. The MANAGER is fantastic, and the service is outstanding.

A GRADE SERVICE ;). Best service I have experienced. To be blatantly honest, the guy behind the bar really was the highlight for me. He not only served at a 5 star level, but was easy on the eye. 100%, 5 star and delicious. Would be back in a heart beat (can I have your number?)
Amazing!!. I came here for the first time last Friday night and the food and service was nothing short of amazing! The venue has a lovely atmosphere along with a friendly and bubbly team. The pasta dish I had was fantastic and was a great serving size. Can't wait to go back here and try more of the delicious food! Thank you to the team at Phoenix :)

Very satisfied customer. Would like to take a moment just to thank the staff at the Phoenix bar / restaurant for beautiful dining. I was walking by with my partner and approached to check out the menu, thought we give it a try and was well worth it! Food was beautiful! I will see you guys again shortly!
I'm very happy that Frank and his team have opened up on Sydney Rd in this great building. We stopped in for breakfast to try it out and were thrilled with the delicious and substantial meal. I love the Italian style hospitality and consulting about what to eat, even the willingness to tailor a special meal. We've been back for dinner twice and were thrilled with the taste, freshness and hearty proportions as we have good healthy appetites! The fresh gnocchi is a knock out for vegetarians like me and the beef and reef is my partners favourite for a carnivore. We also enjoyed the theatrics as the chef climbed a ladder to pick cherry tomatoes for our salad. Wishing you all the best in business and thanks for coming to Brunswick. Love eating where we can walk home.

This is what Brunswick has been waiting for!!!!. Ive reviewed a lot of restaurants on urbanspoon and its always interesting to see how the newly opened restaurants always seem to cop the biggest flack of negative feedback in there first few months,.. I don't know if its just a lot of angry local competition reviewing them because these so called 'reviews' are consistent in pattern and are all accounts with only 1 review??? New accounts made?? I sense sabotage lol....
Now my thoughts... I live in Coburg so the drive home from the city always entices me to stop in for dinner frequently.. Wife meets me there so the location is brilliant... Outside seating was great in the warmer weather however they don't have outside heaters so a jacket is recommended. Service is great ive eaten there now approx. 9-10 times now and I haven't been let down yet. Wood fired pizzas are excellent, steaks are cooked well.. They run a weekly specials board which is generally feeds under $20.00 so we always pick something different each week. Staff are friendly.. but I don't have any idea what people are talking about with old men, every time ive been there it seems to be more family and couple orientated rather then a social hang out.. Brunswick needed a decent fine dining restaurant and the Phoenix, I applaud you for that... cheers and all the best with business.

Best steak north of the city... Been here a few times now, admitedly recently just to see if it was a fluke, but they delivered again! Basically the best damn proper steaks ive had in a very long time, and ive been looking from richmond to brunswick for the last 10 years since vlados back that long ago- tried some of the newer places from northern git to albert st food&wine to last jar, all good, some great, not amazing. Phoenix nailed it, tender, cooked properlyy, flavoursome, rare, but with crust and blackened ( almost tataki!) and served oerfect temperature to enjoy it (ie not cold after resting which some seem to think is acceptable - ah its not....) . Sides were simple but well executed and perfect accompaniment. 2nd time I had the reef and beef- seafood sides were awesome also ( prawns, scallops and bug). Very bloody happy to have something decent in this spot (it was the spot once! ) at last! Theyre new and will take time to establish here i think, but good luck and hoepfully means you can still get a table at the moment. Cheers phoenix, im impressed enough to tap out a review on a tablet!! Keep up the good work and boun appetito!!
Best there is!!. Took my fiancée and mother here, I gotta say, I have waited so long for something like this!! Amazing service and food!!! Haven't ate something so full of flavor and taste in a long time, you can rally tell they use the freshest and best ingredients, was realy happy and full by the end of the service!! Definately recommend it to everyone that appreciates good food and enjoys realy good company from everyone that works there!! Will definately make this a every week thing!! See you guys soon!! ;)
Amazing!!!. Absolutely amazing! Me and my wife went there for dinner and had a wonderful time. I ordered the eye fillet steak which was cooked to perfection (medium) and my wife had the flounder, which she has recommended to everybody. The place has had a makeover which looks nice, clean, and classy. Would highly recommend to anyone, we will definitely be back!
