Review Eighty8 Kitchen - Brunswick

Loved this little place. Some nice twists on Turkish classics plus pretty decent coffee. Interesting menu included Menemen, Cilbir and other breakfast and grazing specials. Recommended!

We went to The Black Owl for lunch on the weekend. The staff was very accomodating for any dietary requirements and the menu is a really interesting twist on the classic Australian brunch options. The food tasted absolutely amazing and the presentation was beautiful - 11 of out 10!! Would highly recommend the mushrooms on toast and Cilbir. It is definitely worth a detour and we will certainly be back!

I travel from Point Cook for this place because the drive is well worth it! I have been to this place twice and this is one of those rare places where all the dishes have been exceptional. The food was absolutely amazing and so fresh, being cooked to order. The service was great and the staff is so friendly. And also the prices are so reasonable. I would highly recommend this family-run place and I will definitely be returning.

I’ve been looking for a good weekend spot for a tasty mushroom gozleme and I think I’ve finally found it! Amazing brunch food options with a Turkish flavour and the service was impeccable :)

A homely style cafe with wooden seats and marble tables. Start the meal with a freshly blended banana smoothie with banana pieces . The banana is so aromatic and the milk is creamy. Suprise me coffee will change each time. Have a guess and afterwards the staff will inform you what it is. Have a clue 'special Turkish coffee blend'. Gozleme is amazing. A variety of choices which are subject to availability. The spinach and feta is well blended and flavorful. Made from traditional savoury Turkish flatbread which is semi crisp. Stuffed bulgar is heavenly. A choice of vegan - lentil mixture or vegetarian - potato mixture. Made from soft bulgar wheat, the flavour is soft yet grainy. The butter also gives the bulgar a delicious taste. Asure pudding - a mix of nuts, longan, barley and more. The dessert is sweet yet zesty. Thankyou for the meal. Review is based on experience at the time.

Great find, tucked around the corner of Barkly Square. Fresh ingredients and well balanced flavours. The Turkish delight with the coffee is a real treat. Will definitely come again. Keep it up!

During my usual stroll through Barkly Square, this new cafe caught the corner of my eye. I was doubly curious when I saw their Specials Board promising on Wednesdays, "A free coffee with purchase if you show us a photo of your dog." I strolled inside and after deliberating which of the amazing looking sandwiches looked the most amazing, I was rewarded with a divinely smooth coffee and a decadent sour dough toastie with mozzarella, chicken and avocado. To top it off the owner was warm and charming and the atmosphere relaxing and inviting. Beautiful service with a smile and above and beyond value. Can't wait to return.

This cafe is absolutely delightful. Fantastic service consistently and the food is so fresh and delicious. Try the iskender if you're feeling indulgent - it is so tasty and decadent. There is a great variety of foods to suit all dietary requirements and you will always be greeted with a smile.

My early morning snack was very filling. I chose a coffee and a slice of fruit/nut bread. It was like a cake, thick and rich, and was hard to finish. It was all of great value, especially given it was a day of half-price food.

First and foremost: You DO NOT go here just for the food, coffee or the location. Brunswick has plenty of that already. You go here for ALL of those things, but when you get the genuine vibe of the owner Mert and his staff, you will get something you WILL NOT GET in most places in Melbourne. You will share his journey, and the absolutely zen-like dedication that he brings.
The food and coffee is almost like a bonus. Words are not enough.

Great platter of brunch food, was a great experience
Om Nom Nom
Very friendly staff with reasonably fast service and delicious Turkish food (I highly recommend adding the sucuk, mushrooms and halloumi to your meal). The food was a tiny bit heavy on the oil which gives that slick sort of feeling in your mouth (but I didn't mind since I'm on keto atm). Also in a great area near shops with nice street art and usually a good amount of parking too!

Great service & authentic turkish food. Have been here on several occasions and have tried various dishes - all of which have been amazing. My fav - man o man.

Every single piece in our order was delicious. I really recommend Turkish breakfast which has various tasty things.( Do not forget home made simit). There are also a couple of things which are like a mixture of Australian cuisine and Turkish cuisine.

Nice visit to this Brunswick cafe

The outdoor area is lovely to sit in. The graffiti artwork on the wall is super vibrant. The inside has touches of Turkish art/culture including the tea cups!

Soy iced latte: Nice, refreshing coffee.
Man'O'Man: I really enjoyed this tomato/eggs dish. There was a nice tomato flavour, and it was great to dip into with the soft turkish bread. I didn't eat the olives because I'm not an olive fan, but I did enjoy the feta!
Stuffed Bulgur (vegan): Interesting combination of lentils with in a soft pocket. Mediterranean flavours were nice
Vege burger: Nice burger with salty halloumi & nice mushrooms. The brioche bun made it that little bit fancier.

Lovely, friendly staff. The food came in good time.

If you love or want to try Turkish food, then Eighty8 Kitchen is a definite mustβ€”good food and friendly owner, what more could you ask for?

❀️: My favorite would be the Gozleme. Warm Turkish flatbread pastry with spinach and cheese, potato, and parsley served with homemade dip. Honestly, they’re already so good without the dip.

Their toasties are also amazing, with the Modern Family being the highlight. Crispy, yet soft, buttery toasted sourdough with chicken, garlic, spinach, melted mozzarella cheese, aioli, and fresh avocado. Though it sounds simple, but trust me, this toastie was AMAZING!

Another not to miss would be the Man’O’Man. Eggs sautΓ©ed with tomatoes, peppers, onions, seasoned with spices, served with bread and other sides.
.
β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”
.
.
.

I love how unique the brunch menu at Eighty8 Kitchen is!Β

We tried MAN O MAN: Sauteed tomatoes with onions, peppers, herbs, served with Turkish bread, olives and banana jam! The flavours of this dish were amazing. SO satisfying.Β

On the side we tried some cabbage rolls, and dolmades. Again, so flavourful!Β

The coffee was great, and you also need to try some of their colourful teas! We tried apple tea and banana. Very interesting indeed!Β

The team is super friendly and the vibe is chill! Love the artwork too :D

This place has a lovely relaxed vibe. I enjoyed the music they’ve chosen. The food is delicious and you definitely get bang for your buck! Everything tasted really fresh and was great quality. We had the sujuk with eggs, menemen, sujuk with cheese gozleme and Turkish coffee. One of the better cafes in Brunswick. Would definitely come here again.

Great little find tucked away near Barkly Square. Breakfast here is cheap and super delicious featuring classic Turkish breakfasts alongside some tried and true Melbourne favourites. Super friendly service that makes you feel warm and welcome. Definitely branch and try some Turkish tea or coffee - only thing missing for me was the Turkish Apple Tea that I fell so in love when I visited Istanbul.
