Review Golden Pizza - Brunswick

3.5 stars. I’ve had my fair share of pizza. I’d maybe call myself a pizza fiend. So when I heard they won best pizza in the world i knew I had to try it out! Let me start by saying the Customer service was superb. They were super accommodating and even gave my little Child a book to read while waiting for our food to arrive. Excellent. Atmosphere is something which says we know how to serve you yummy food and give you a great experience. We ordered two pizzas which -if I am to be honest and frank- were nice, but nothing spectacular. They came out not very hot - a little warm. The dough was great though. It had a nice spring and bite to it. But for me I think I was missing a bit of added depth… I was struggling to find much sauce and any depth and flavour to it… our pizza with toppings was also clumped together which at times was a little over powering. All in all a good experience but let me down in a couple areas I was hoping for more.

My second time back since the last visit. Very nice pizza dough and chewy. You have the best dough formula. However, it is a bit salty. Come to salad, it is super salty. 😒 In general, great vibe, high level interior deisgn and good table service.

Overall pleasant restaurant but severely lacking the original Italian character. The formally polite and friendly staff. Frankly, I would have expected a better pizza and instead I found it not very tasty and chewy, I gave two stars above all for the pasta carbonara which is quite good for the standard of the restaurants I surveyed.

Ordered 1 pizza and 2 pastas for takeaway. Food was ready quick and they all taste great! However, gnocchi was a bit too soft for me and both pastas doesn't have much meats in there, which is a bit shame for the nice flavor in there. Pizza is great! Overall a bit pricy but the pizza worth it.

Dough is still decent, but feels thicker than the last time I came for pizzas I’m not sure though? Margherita still good. Caserta w the prosciutto good. Service good, attentive but not intrusive.

The waiter served us very well, but the food is emm... just below average. The Lasagna charged me $35 tasted good but the size is much smaller than I thought. I must say all the dishes are overpriced. And the size of the food is insanely small. By the way, avoid to order the calamari.

The marinara pizza was delicious. I was expecting a crunchier crust but the gooey-ness won me over in the end. Garlicky goodness! And the olive oil. Who knew pizza without cheese could be so yum?

Finally made it to 400 Gradi and here are my thoughts: Pizza = good, but definitely not the best I’ve had in Melbourne Wine = delectable, an absolute treat Service = disappointing Chilli oil = Calabrese style, yum but not spicy enough Expected price for pizzas and pastas $30-45

We are a massive fan of their online specials. Garlic bread could be better, but pizzas are really tasty. Also, they have very good delivery.

You can create your own pizza online...that's a huge win for me! And they delivered not too long after they said they would. Pizza was pretty good too, they didn't skimp on toppings and the base was not too oily, will be back.

I ordered 2 pizza's from here saturday night. I award winning pizza with prawns was good. But i couldnt eat the other award winning one with sausage. The meat was just too old and smelly. Prolly not ordering anything from here next time or recommending to friends.

Nice pizza. Iv started ordering from here over the past few months and never had a bad one yet. Would recommend to my friends for sure.
And 95% of the time delivery is very quick.

This place doesn't look like much but we really like their pizza - nice thin bases and quality toppings which they don't skimp on. Can be slightly oily though. We like the fusion and bbq lamb.

My go too pizza place. It'd always consistent, fresh, hot and tasty even the next day. Delivery times aren't too bad but it's awful quick if you go and pick it up. Staff are friendly and the online delivery is a breeze. Good pizza for sure.

Fresh toppings and crisp base. Home made meats and sauces are so tasty and really reasonably priced. I go with Julie's Margherita. Great option for home-late soul food.

Good flavours but Dissapointing Gluten Free base. Pretty good toppings, they have Virginian ham, hot salami isn't that hot, tomato sauce isn't a rich flavour. Cheese pizza is yummy and the pizzas are well priced. Disappointing gluten free base as it is much too doughy and thick.
Anna
Consistently great pizza. Marlene and the team have great service and even better pizza. The sauce is home made and you can taste the difference, the ingredients are all fresh and cooked to perfection. Delivery is quick too

Highly recommended

Good pizza but not great overall. Pizza's are generally decent, but the garlic bread is always undercooked/lukewarm. The old owners had homemade garlic bread that was the best ever, now it's processed homebrand supermarket crap.

Unfortunately this is one of the only decent pizza places that deliver in the east Brunswick/Coburg area.

Although after the delivery driver ringing and informing my pizza is outside and expecting me to go out into the street to collect then being obviously pissed off when I said he can bring it to the door, I won't be ordering from them again. If you're going to charge $3 or $5 for delivery the drivers should at least have the courtesy to come to the front door. Spend your 50 cent tip wisely chump.

This is definitely the pizza place to go!. I passed by this place all the time and saw the signboard that is the best pizza till 2010. Still in doubt but we decided to give it a try! Not only the pizza is really good, even the chips are nice too! The Fusion pizza is something you must try. The service is good, we can't finish our pizza so we decided to ask for the take away box, when realising that we are going to take it away, the staff quickly helped us to pack. I do encourage family to go there because the price is really reasonable!

Great friendly service, very quick delivery and the pizzas are always tasty and hot. The lamb pizza melts in your mouth and their margarita is amazing - this is my favorite pizza takeaway place!!
Juliete
Beautiful pizza with just enough toppings and flavor. Have had it a number of times and I have to say never disappointed

Delicious. The BBQ lamb pizza was top notch.

They get your order wrong every time. Allergic to seafood? Expect prawns.
Vegetarian? They'll put ham on your pizza as a free upgrade. Won't be tempting fate again...

Was the best pizza around, until they changed hands. Won't be going back.

Wow just ate another piece. do not order pizza from here. far out. worst I've ever eaten.

-----05 Mar, 2013-----

Horrible horrible pizzas. who issues these 'awards'. ended up eating the box, needed seasoning but far more favoursome than the product in it.

Best in town. Best pizza i have eaten in a while, love the bbq lamb pizza and definitely recommend.

-----10 Feb, 2013-----

ILOVEGOLDENPIZZA. Best Pizza in Town!!! YOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG WITH GOLDEN PIZZA.. The food is always up to standard, delivery arrives on time if anything its always earlier.. I have been eating GOLDEN PIZZA for years and it never lets me down. They have a bunch of friendly staff who take pride with cooking there pastas to making there pizzas !! Since the NEW OWNERS took over me and my family now make it tradition to order pastas and pizzas on family night because we know where getting Top QUALITY for cheap prices not like all the other pizza shops which slap ingredients on the pizza to as what there feeling on the day..

My favourite pizza!. I absolutely LOVE the Julie's Margarita pizza, it is divine and I don't feel too guilty for eating it. My standard order is a Julie's margaeita and a greek salad, YUMMO!

Good. Another lazy-day pizza place nearby us. Perfectly good pizza. Crust is better and delivers for free, but Golden is nearer - so it's a matter of weighing up just how lazy we are ...

Be warned & do not expect the usual quality!!! GOLDEN PIZZA IS UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT! ( Not that they are advertising this!) We just got our food home & are extremely dissapointed. The usually massive yummy hamburger I ordered was between 2 slices of bread!!! Stale substandard bread may I add. The BBQ lamb my partner's favourite he's been ordering for years was tiny & the lamb looked more like SPAM! I never write reviews but this need to get out there to their loyal customers. Not going back! A sad decline & insult to the former owners :( thankyou to them for all the nice meals though :) U'll b missed!

Yummmmmmo. Tried this place out and was very impressed. Haven't had traditional pizza for a while so thought we would give a try. Staff were friendly, shop was clean, pizza and pasta was perfect. Definately would recommend this place

Gluten free mush :(. I was so excited to think that I might be able to enjoy pizza once again, but alas for $15.90 - only size you can get is medium (????) it was a big pile of mush, half of which i threw in the bin. I was very disappointed and will not return. Maybe I should have been wary that they are voted Australia's best pizza by the Dairy Association?? Will not return.

Gluten Free review. They have a gluten free base available that is roughly the size of a dinner plate, more than enough for one but might need two for hungry diners! The GF base is soft and spongy but with a satisfy cruch at the crust. Topping wise about half if the standard & gourmet options are gluten free. So far I've only eaten there once so I've only tried the mushroom/olive GF pizza but based on this I would definitely eat there again. The best way to get an overview of topping options is via their website where you can also order & pay online much like Dominoes. They also deliver [based on a visit from Feb 2012].

Parma. I have ordered chicken parma from here a couple of times, home delivered. It is a very satisfying meal, arrives hot, and within an hour. Cant fault it!

Things change. There was definitely a period when the dough was pretty awful, and I queried it. John (principal chef and co-owner) explained that that batch of flour had been below standard; he'd asked other pizza makers and they confirmed it; but the new batch was good. My pizza that night showed the difference. I get a pizza there every week and my only complaint is that the dough is too thin, but that's the way we've been taught to expect it because that's what they do in America, apparently: round shape, thin dough, lots of topping. If you want a thicker dough just ask - John always makes mine that way. This is really good commercial pizza, and all the staff are pleasant and helpful: no snotty-nosed smarties here.

OK, if you choose wisely. The fliers for Golden Pizza proudly state the three recent years they've won "Best Pizza's in Victoria". So it's a disappointment that the pizzas are nothing special.

Their simple pizzas are the best of the bunch; for example the napoletana is fairly simple and balanced, as it should be. But their own creations are misguided, for example the marinara: large black olives feature on this seafood pizza, a terrible, terrible combination.

All their pizzas suffer from being thin but dense; a light thin pizza can be pleasant, but they seem to use quite a dense dough that it more like a biscuit than a bread. I think it detracts from their pizzas.

So overall it's OK. But the biggest problem here is that there is a lot of competition nearby. It's hard to choose Golden Pizza given the number of better places on their doorstep.

Used to be a massive fan of this place. Seems like it's slipped lately though. Prices have increased but quality of toppings are going the other way. Always warm not hot on delivery. Godfathers is cheaper and tastier.
