Very nice place based in the polaris shopping complex. Friendly staff and nice cosy ambiance. Portions are large which is surprising but also very welcome. Had the pasta and the parm which were awesome. Will definitely be back
Come here for coffee and cake and was not disappointed, cake was delicious and nice coffee will b back to try the foods. Easy parking with plenty of tables. Recommended
This is a case of don’t judge a book by its front cover.
Vorea Polaris is actually one of our top favourite cafes in the north.
The food is generous in portions AND delicious. My favourite dish is Calamari salad, it’s always fresh and the calamari is perfectly cooked.
The coffee is always spot on.
Service is good, the waitresses are polite and friendly.
It’s definitely a place you may not think twice about when driving by as they have not tried too hard with the interior and exterior design but Vorea is modern and clean, and the food, service and value is right up there with the best of the best.
We think this is actually one of the best cafes around. Coffee is always good, the food is better than most cafes and it’s great value. The portions are large (not too large) and the service is always friendly. Thumbs up Vorea
It's Friday night and Mrs Canuck wanted a rib eye steak. But they're out of rib eye (with a butcher around the corner). The garlic bread was thin but tasty. The grilled chicken was good with a healthy selection of tasty veggies. When it came to dessert they couldn't provide whipped creme as they were out of it as well (grocery store 100 meters)
Service good, food good, but not having simple ingredients in Friday night before a weekend takes away points.
Quick service, and well made food that is fairly priced. Vorea has a range of gluten free options and friendly staff. Would definitely come back
Wheelchair accessible. Accessible bathroom available.
I went here for takeaway. Will come back now that I know it's accessible. Coffee was good. Couldn't complain. Staff were lovely.
Get the wagyu burger (10/10). Best burger I’ve had all year. Upgraded to wedges with sour cream -excellent and crunchy, just needs more salt(8/10)! Iced Choc milkshake was ok too but choc syrup used is pretty fake choc tasting (5/10)
Despite no real competition in terms of cuisine nearby, this well-situated cafe offers up really nice food. Although this fact may have influenced their prices...
The steak sandwich in particular is very nice and above what you'd normally expect. Serving sizes are decent and the ingredients are fresh and tasty.
The coffee is okay and the service can be hit and miss depending on who you get.
It really packs out on Friday/Saturday night so make a booking if you don't want to wait.
Currently sitting inside having a coffee and cheesecake with the hubby and a friend.
Coffee was nice, not too hot and full of flavour.
We had a slice of baked berry cheesecakewith a jelly top, this was delicious.
We also shared a slice of lemon meringue pie, the lemon curd was lovely and smooth but the meringue was grainy and we realised that the slice was not from the one on display but must have been from another one in a fridge...
Apart from that the staff were attentive, the place was neat and clean.
Would recommend trying but not the lemon meringue.
Had a breakfast here with my family from interstate. It had lovely and calm atmosphere. It also was very warm. The food were creative and tasted delicious! They were created gorgeously! I had chai latte it was delicious. However my father’s meal did not arrive at same time as us. We had an amazing waitress who followed it up and got it served immediately! I would definitely go back again!
Food was delicious and the portions were very generous. Definitely will recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a good meal in Bundoora!!
Pretty middle of the road in menu and quality. Priced like it should be a little bit better. Venue is nice and service decent. Standard cafe fare.
Had a great breakfast before starting my road trip to Adelaide from Melbourne. Ordered garlic prawn rice with jasmine rice (Lunch Menu) & "Big breakfast (Breakfast Menu). The portion of the food were so big. The taste of the garlic prawn was quite good and the garlic flavour was quite strong. The prawn was fresh and delicious.
About the big breakfast, that's really big! Served with 7 different ingredients which are scrambled eggs, toast bread, sausage, bacon, tomato, mushroom and hash brown. The sausage was little bit salty. Other than that, everything was so wonderful. Spent around $40 in total including a cup of coffee.
The service was so good as well!
No matter what dish we try, Vorea have consistently delivered to our satisfaction. Ingredients and presentation are second to none. Keep up the great work!!
A nice cafe with inviting decor and very friendly service! Have previously been here for breakfast and lunch which has been nice, but thought we would try it for dinner and it was also good! The food was nice, not outstanding, but still enjoyable and tasty :)
Loved the service and warm welcome. Place is nice and cosy, food is exceptional and couldn't go passed the 12 hr slow cooked lamb. Only downside is average dip plate, loved the quality of the rest of the food though.
Love this place! Definitely a favourite amongst my friends and I. Usually order the seafood pasta... delish! And the volcano for dessert.... yummo!
Need to come back and try some of the other items on the menu as they look great when they come out. Great atmosphere, great service. Happy days!
The egg florentine and chill scrambled eggs are a good way to start a day at this place. Pocket friendly. Not crowded in the morning (early). A good To to eat after a good workout 👍🏻
I stopped in to this little place for a quick coffee, and was pleasantly surprised by how lovely all the food looked at tables next to mine. My coffee was excellent, fast, perfect temperature, and very friendly service. This may not be a trendy hipster cafe but who needs more of those anyway? Will definitely be back for breakfast.
The place has a solid, if standard, menu and executes pretty well. I had the Bircher muesli with yogurt and fruit which was nice, but too sweet for me to finish. The coffee was fine. I've been here a few times, and I've always been satisfied/pleased with the vegetarian fare.
The cafe has hard, clean lines, and immaculate glass which will please a clean freak and gives a nice view over the road to Bundoora park, but if you're looking for ambiance all the hard surfaces make the space quite loud and clinical. Televisions also damage any charm the place might have going for it, but will please football fans. Coupled with a liquor licence this makes the location more attractive to a particular crowd of eaters rather than diners.
The staff are friendly, but the vibe of the space is definitely more professional than idiosyncratic. Meals come in good time and usually in sync. So again, polite and competent staff but a little detached.
Inside is air conditioned so although it was hot outside, both my partner and I were actually quite cold which affected the experience a little. Not a big deal.
Prices were reasonable ($13-19) for the service and food. Quite a stylish cafe/restaurant, certainly above average for outer suburbia. Not a place that excites me, but ill certainly go back when/if anyone suggests it.
-0.5 points for no table water.
Popped in for a light dinner. It was late but still busy at 9.30. We were seated quickly and served straight away. Meals were well presented and delicious. Pork belly crackling was crisp and cooked to perfection. Meatballs were flavoursome and I highly recommend them. Service was good. Would definitely go back
Had breakfast here twice and was impressed on both occasions .
Nice decor , excellent coffee and a great selection on the menu . They supply papers for their patrons and have music videos on well placed Screens , which are set as background music .
You can request a selection to suit your taste and meal size
They have a kids breakfast menu which is a great idea ( took our Grandsons the second time , and they loved it )
The service was very good on both occasions and the meal sizes are just nice for breakfast .
We will try this establishment for a lunch or dinner soon and will review again .
Nice way to start a Saturday
Vorea at Polaris is a perfect local restaurant with great food, and it also a casual hang out for delicious coffee. The staff at Vorea are sometimes fantastic, but other times you feel rushed and it feels like they want you out as quick as possible...(busy or not).
Pros: Great coffee, tasty breakfast, nice selection of cakes, service generally quite good
Cons: Little pricey
I've been here a couple of times now and generally I have to say the food is great. It's typical cafe food, but done well. I've had breakfast, in particular Atlantic Eggs (Eggs Benedict but with Smoked Salmon) and it's up there for taste and quality. The selection of cakes is awesome, great for a sneaky little coffee & cake session.
The service is generally good, but there's always one.. One particular girl doesn't know how to smile or at least pretend to like working there, but the rest of the staff are really friendly.
Atmosphere? Yeah pretty good, seems a little cold but I'm being pretty picky.. They have live music in the evenings, so that's really nice to sit down, enjoy a coffee and listen to. Overall this place has come pretty far from it's opening. I'll definitely go back.
Not sure why this venue has so many negative reviews.... I had a great experience with a group of 8 people.
Had a fantastic Mothers day breakfast here and this venue exceeded my initial expectations. The venue itself is warm and inviting and the staff were just fantastic throughout our entire meal, nothing was too much trouble and they checked on us regularly and were very attentive & friendly.
The breakfast menu was very reasonably priced ( breakfast dishes were between $14-$19) considering how generous the portion sizes were ( very large)you will definitely get your moneys worth. My scrambled eggs were golden and perfectly cooked and seasoned with a generous serving of wild mushrooms with 2 large pieces of sour dough and feta cheese. The banana pancakes were magnificent and definitely one to share- served with a side of sliced bananas smothered in a delicious good butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream. All the ingredients on my plate were fresh and well cooked which ticks the boxes for me for a basic breakfast, will definitely return given there are very limited options in the area for good cafe fare.
Food at lunch was great. I had the beef burger and my wife had the vegetarian risotto. Both tasted great. The staff varied, some did not seem too interested in service and had to be reminded of something we ordered. I was not happy when they changed the TV channel away from the football, to some terrible pop music channel.
After having a couple of negative experiences with the customer service skills of certain staff members, I left a negative review for this cafe. However, after the owner (who seems like a really good bloke) approached me and explained to me that some of the younger staff members may have been inexperienced in the way they deal with customers, I have changed my mind about this cafe. Some of the staff members have exception customer service skills, and unfortunately my review was based on some isolated incidents with rather rude staff members. To be honest the coffee here is up there with the best in Melbourne; and I certainly don't have any complains about the food either.
Our local coffee meet up though it's 50/50 if you get super nice staff or rather rude ones. The cakes always look tempting and luxurious and the coffee meets our standards. The shading put up outside is much more helpful in the sun and rain
Love it! Great decor and super friendly staff. The food is consistently delicious and their steak is the best I've ever had! Keep up the good work!
Food there is delicious, nice generous servings. Staff and service are efficient and friendly, definitely one of my favourite places in Bundoora.
Food was good.. Poached Eggs were a little over done.. Ordered a big size of Coffee got a small one.. Other than that everything else was Tasty!
Hopefully will visit again!
My partner and I eat at Vorea quite regularly and find the staff very friendly and efficient. We have never had a bad dish here and on this occasion tried the salmon from the specials board. It was probably the best salmon I've had at a restaurant!! Very moist and tasty however a little bit more sauce would have been good as it was delicious!!! Highly recommend if you are in the area.
Dropped by for lunch and was quietly surprised by the good service and tasty food. The seafood linguine was cooked well and quite flavoursome, whilst the fish & chips was much nicer than the usual run of the mill types found elsewhere. Portions were generous and the food delicious which justifies the slightly higher prices. Would definitely recommend and return soon.
Great place, lovely atmosphere, clean and nice setup.
Food is always fresh and yummy. Been there for breaky, lunch and dinner and me and my family enjoyed it very much. The cake section is awsome lots of variety to choose from and coffee made to perfection. Staff are very friendly and atentativ.
I Definitely recommend this place to everyone who wants a delicious and affordable meal.
Nice setup and yummy food
Food was delicious, service was great and atmosphere was nice. A little pricy but worth it :)
Wait staff need improving. I have been to both Vorea Cafe's my first visit was to Polaris for lunch a few weeks ago. The food is lovely however our meals took about 1 hour to arrive. When we had finished our meal, we waited and waited and waited for the waitress to come back and ask as whether there was anything else we would like. I had to get up and go to the counter to place our coffee order.
Today I visited the University Hill cafe for lunch, again the meals were fabulous, again, the wait staff not very dissapointing. We waited ages for menus after we sat down. The waitress came out to take an order for some other outside diners, I had to retrieve the menus as she was about to walk back in side with the menus. The delay here for our meal wasn't as long as the Polaris cafe. My friend asked for some cracked pepper, of which you would have thought would automatically be offered. The waitress went back in side. Quite some minutes later, my
friend had to get up, go inside and retrieve the pepper herself.
We had to move tables after we arrived as there was a smoker sitting beside us, they have the room to have smokers down the back not to interfere with diners who do not smoke. I would suggest two separate areas.
They really need their staff to be more proactive and the meals need to come out quicker. I will try the restaurant again in a few months time, hoping they have their staff trained to a better standard, as the food is lovely.
Just had an absolutely delightful meal with my wife. Would highly recommend this restaurant as the staff were attentive, pleasant and the food was AWESOME!! The steak was cooked exactly to my liking and the pepper sauce was just the right level of bite. My wife was also thoroughly satisfied with her steak.
It's actually my second time coming to Vorea Cafe. First time was dinner and the second time was lunch. For dinner I had a steak dish which was nice and tender the way I liked it. So far the best steak ive had in awhile. For lunch I ordered the steak sandwich which was again tender and not too hard, too dry. Waitresses were very friendly and did there job well. Definitely recommend eating at Vorea :)
Breakfast amazing, coffee decent and Parma a little different but also good quality!
Went for brunch the other day with my partner. Ordered the smashed avos and the French Toast which we added strawberries and banana to. Both meals were delicious and generously sized. Friendly staff, will definitely be back! :)
What an amazing dinner. Pork belly is worth travelling for, Steak was like meat flavoured marshmallow!! For all you carnivores, got the Wagyu!! Great atmosphere, can't fault it. Finally a place set up near me that understand great food, (B/L/D), great service at an affordable "once or twice a week" price. Great job guys.
Luke and Jacq-Springthorpe residents.
Great for breakfast!. My partner and I ate breakfast here today, and everything was great. The food was amazing and generously sized and priced. My coffee was lovely, and the service was good too. We'll definitely be coming back.
A cute little place , really good coffee and not bad pricing with good portion sizes for meals ... but not worth it for deserts ...deserts are quite small and highly disappointing but other then that its pretty good
Vorea is an anomaly. The north is not known for great restaurants and yet Vorea exists. I knew of the Vorea Café at university hill however this one was a complete surprise discovery. It was a rainy Tuesday when I walked in, and despite the weather it was quite full. The space they’ve opened up was much sleeker than I was expecting. It was completely urban: concrete, wood and marble finishing with mood lighting to boot. But enough about that, let’s move onto the steak. We were seated and given menus, and while it wasn’t overly extensive, if I wasn’t there for the steak it would’ve been a tough choice. They had 4 steaks on offer: an eye fillet, sirloin (aka porterhouse), rump and, somewhat surprisingly, a flat iron steak. It wasn’t so much of a “why is that there” surprise but more of a “wow, this chef is confident with his chargrill”. I decided to go with the 300g Rangers Valley (NSW) 300 day grain fed wagyu sirloin ($32). All stea
Would I be back if I was in the area? Yes – but only if I had time. Expect a wait. The place was busy for a Friday night but not full and as I said, our mains took a while.
