Review The Fish House - Burleigh Heads

Dining here is just absolutely amazing. The seafood is fresh and juicy. The view is absolutely breathtaking. Snapper was cooked to perfection. Not to mention, the oysters are the one to go for as well. Service is not only professional, welcoming but also swift.

Food 4 stars, good selection of oysters and whole fish. The fish&chips was a bit dry. Location 5 stars, just in front of the beach and with a great view. Service 3 stars, the staff was very kind and friendly, but the main was very slow to come. Overall would recommend for a seafood lunch.

The Fish House has the advantage of being in one of the coasts best locations, in addition to a fantastic seafood menu. I've found the service to be excellent, with adequate advice about menu options. On a beautiful day for lunch, with the windows open and sea breeze, it's breathtaking!

What an experience as dining here is simply superb. The night city view is amazing. The entree king prawns and scallops are winners in their own rights. The mains toothfish and ocean trout are to die for. Excellent wait staff and really patient with kids. Easily one of the best dining on the coast!

One of the best seafood restaurants I've been to in Australia. Produce is fresh and the service is excellent. Well worth the price. This time we decided to try the Rainbow Trout and it was melt in the mouth delicious.

A fine dining, good fish restaurant with great views of Surfers paradise. Service was excellent. A place to impress guests, especially if you order a fine wine from it's large wine list to go with your fish fish.

A top notch dining experience with a casual feel. Excellent and knowledgeable staff, great selection of wines, and most important of all it food does the name justice. Might even say its the best seafood resturaunt Ive been to!

We had a really great night there. We only spent less than 80 minutes there cause we need to catch the flight, but we really enjoyed it! All the staffs are excellent and professional. They recommended and introduced different dishes patiently, thank you!

Overall considering all the factors a 3.5/5 I will probably not be coming back here.<br/><br/>Read all the reviews and was set to bring my partner for a good feast. Ended up waiting over an hour for our food and we were starving to only be disappointed with the quality of food and the flavours. Maybe we ordered the wrong things, but overall just ok.<br/><br/>Service was great though, our waiter was attentive and lovely and I could see all the waiters having a good time serving all their respective tables.<br/><br/>What we ordered;<br/>Tuna Alb: a strong taste that only skme may like. The wasabi hits you, but the flavours were really good<br/><br/>Rainbow Trout; covered in an amass of things, but the fish was really well cooked and was super tender. I wish they let the fish shine through more though. The toppings overpowered the fish so much.<br/><br/>Bugs Pasta; was the most disappointed with this. I've had bug pasta before at a cheaper price and it had more quantity and quality. The sauce had an unpleasant aftertaste.<br/><br/>Sides; included salad, steamed/boiled veggies and potatoes. Potatoes were really fantastic<br/><br/>The atmosphere of the resturaunt was lovely tho, however the total bill costing $140+ for a mediocre taste and over 1 hour of waiting truly felt like it wasnt that worth it.

Nice to see professional service and quality dining. Enjoyed lunch with good seafood and comfortable atmosphere. Worth a visit.

Incredible meal. Innovative menu and friendly staff.. The atmosphere was busy and fun, without being over the top.<br/>We had the Moreton Bau Bug pasta and raw Kingfish for entree followed by the Conet Cod and whole baby snapper. Everything was truly excellent.

Yes it is expensive but worth it, all sides are included and you can order extras. Great friendly efficient service. Window table is good but road in front.

Visited this place while we were on holiday. Omg that scallops dish was to die for. I love it so much. The Morton Bay bug pasta and toothfish with niso were aslo mouth-watering. Would definitely come back.

Amazing food and great service. We had a range of share plates as well as mains. Some of the dishes were more adventurous than I would usually choose, but they were delicious!

I’m not a huge seafood lover, but I do like this place. My fav is the fish n chips, and actually quite affordable. This place has a great view, and awesome drink menu. Would recommend coming during the day and have a great view of the GC.

The fish with pickle(John Dory Eden) is my favourite <br/>The staff are nice <br/>You get unlimited salad, vegetable and potatoes with your meal<br/>Price is a bit up<br/>Nice location with ocean view but It’s hard to reserve a table by the window, it’s nice to dine during day light or sunset <br/>Carpark can be an issue in Burleigh specially over the weekend

Possibly the best seafood meal I have ever had so far. The New Zealand Blue Cod was perfectly done which kept the fish juicy, tender and flavorful. The oysters were a perfect blend of savory and sweet, and the mussels sweet and soft. Everything we had from the entrees to the main courses and desserts were absolutely marvelous. No overpowering sauce to hide any absence of freshness. Service was fantastic as well from start to finish. Expect to pay a hefty price coz this ain’t your fish and chippy, market variety fish place; this is The Fish House where everything served is nothing ordinary.

Loved our lunch here today, we started with the kingfish which was delicious and seared scallops were so perfectly cooked and so sweet.  Wethen had the Morton Bay bug pasta and the Patagonian Toothfish with miso, the pasta was really good but the Toothfish was the highlight of the day for me and a dish I would return for!  We shared the enormous tart tartin which was a perfect finish to a perfect meal.  The staff were warm and friendly and the wine list had some great inclusions.  We will return again.

We had heard excellent things about this place. Not sure why? The service was awful. Waited 20 minutes to be asked what we wanted to drink and then waited another 20 to receive our drink order. The restaurant was extremely loud and the air conditioning didn’t work at all. So we sweated through our meals once they finally arrived. The food wasn’t memorable but the bill was! Overpriced! Don’t rate this place at all. 😔

Perfection on a plate! I loved every part of every course. The sourdough bread, the oysters, the ocean trout, the sides (all perfectly dressed) and the chocolate fondant. The caramelised white chocolate mousse was very rich and sweet and only for the most dedicated white chocolate fan but it was very attractive.

Went here last night, and they even gave me a table with a view as I asked. :) Great night<br/><br/>Amazing view, fantastic food, friendly and attentive service, beautiful atmosphere. The hype did not disappoint. The food was delicious, every meal was fresh and with beautiful flavours. But the night was made better by a friendly and helpful waiter and initial host. The staff are great.

A truly impeccable dining experience. The Fish House is situated in a scenic location overlooking the rolling waves of Burleigh beach. From the moment you enter, you're met with a pleasantly sophisticated ambience coupled with faultless and attentive service which continued throughout the evening. We ordered two main dishes and sampled a few glasses of wine - thank you to our waiter who possessed fantastic knowledge on the wine list. The fish was sensational. Very Fresh with lovely balanced flavours. Our mains accompanied a range of sides; roast potatoes, fresh bread and butter, lemon infused oil and greens cooked to perfection. The Fish House exemplifies simple food done very, very well and would make a lovely dining experience for a special occasion.

I came to have dinner last Friday night because of good reviews. At first, we really liked this place, the guy at front was nice. Food was really good. SURPRISINGLY, the service was horrible!!! They did not pour our wine, we even ordered two bottles, did not check our table, just walked pass to other tables. We also ordered quite few and when we asked three waitress for take away, they said they did not do take away as it's their house policy. WOW!! Are you kidding me? I have been to many fine dining restaurants not only in Australia, they provide EXCELLENT SERVICE AND DO TAKE AWAY. Also, the waitress did not ask for take away food disclaimer, I am really sure they are aware of disclaimer form, right?<br/><br/>WHAT A WASTE OF $360 JUST FOR TWO PEOPLE 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 I hope you train your waitress to be polite, give them knowledge about disclaimer form and provide FINE DINING SERVICE.

I was expecting the food to be impressive but I was really blown away by the entire experience.<br/>The setting was incredible. We had an early seating so were able to see the ocean while the sunset. The staff were so helpful and attentive and were very knowledgeable about the menu and the food. The food itself was amazing!! Absolutely one of the best meals I have ever had. The wine list is extensive and certainly high quality.

Came here during our trip up at the Gold Coast a couple of weeks ago and was recommend by a friend so we thought it should not disappoint and it didn't. <br/><br/>It was a relatively cool night and was sat at the corner long table which was nice. The waiter took us to a big display window of various different kind of special of the day fish! That fish at the back was HUGE!<br/><br/>As we would like to try various types of dishes we did not opt for sharing that big fish, so we ordered some Sydney rock oysters and Angassi Flats oysters and baby calamari for entree. The Angassi Flats was nice but @ $8 each, not so sure if it was worth it. Oh well, we were on holidays who cares!<br/><br/>We ordered the following main dishes: <br/><br/>Grilled Yabbie from menu of the day - fresh but too dried <br/><br/>Whole Baby Snapper - tasted not bad but the nam jim sauce didn't quite suit the fish<br/><br/>Blue eye Trevalla - fish a bit chewy but the sauce was ok<br/><br/>Moreton Bay Bugs Tagliolini - Bugs was fresh but the pasta was not al dente (we didn't expect <br/>it would be anyway)<br/><br/>Blue Swimmer Crab Risotto - this was surprisingly the best dish of the pack!<br/><br/>Swordfish - fresh and tasted ok<br/><br/>Overall the food was quite nice, together with some Rosé and Sauvignon Blanc and good company that made it a pleasant night.

This is really one of the best restaurants on the coast. The whole experience was absolutely beautiful: delicious food, impeccable service and stunning views!

G&T to start!<br/>Right up front, must admit, we are a huge fan of Hellenika, brother/sister/part of the group....something like that. So it can't do no wrong!<br/>Its kind of got that, 'you know your in for a belting,' feel when you first walk in. <br/>I meant financially, OF COURSE. But is it worth it? For a good night out...yes, atmosphere...yes, great food...yes, great service...yes and value for money...maybe. Value for money must also be measured in non financial terms and although heavy in price, it delivers on ALL other fronts.<br/>The Moreton Bay Bugs Tagliolini and King Prawns were fantastic and the Whole Baby Snapper, the same. <br/>G&T...A MUST to start!!!!!<br/>Coffee, struggle outside Melbourne!<br/>My only worry about this place is having to travel to Burleigh Heads when staying near Southport.

Incredibly disappointed- thought this had excellent ratings. The view is certainly fantastic. Sort of all goes downhill from there. Fish soup - 1 tiny piece of fish in the middle. The pasta was under cooked. The service - utterly clueless! Forget to attend hospitality school? Or perhaps they flunked it? Bitter taste.

Food was ok but I would not put it in the top restaurants of Australia. We started with the raw tuna which had a great detail of flavours and textures and was certainly a wonderful way to start. Followed by the prawn cocktail which was fresh and light and certainly show cased some great Australian seafood, moving on to the king prawns which were lightly grilled with an obvious heavy hand of salt which ruined any resemblance of good quality seafood. This was very disappointing as I would have expected such a simple dish to be the essence of a good seafood restaurant. We then moved to our main fare of Patagonian Tooth Fish which was beautiful doused with plenty of flavour, a caramelised spring onion lacker which gave a sweet depth with a lovely firm but flakey texture. We also ordered snapper fillets but were delivered a whole snapper which we were not keen on beheading the fish and tip toeing though the grave yard of bones. They were very accommodating and removed this from our bill. PS looked great if you are happy with the whole fish eating experience. Service felt a little rushed with not a lot of attention to detail. All and all one of the better seafood restaurants on the GC and would still recommend to the seafood lover. It could be a little more child friendly as being such a family holiday destination it will appeal to many families looking to try our wonderful Australian produce and exceptional level of service we are so famous for.

I came here for my birthday, the food is very very very very fresh! Every dish is amazing! I defently will come back to Gold Coast just for this restaurant!

Fantastic atmosphere with exceptional service. The staff are friendly with attentive service. Carefully curated wine list, beachfront, the result is always going to be a winner. King prawns were nice and the chagrined Kalahari was amazing.

Is small elegant Restaurant, which has a great view. About 7km from Surfer paradise which we stayed in, and I found this place from Zomato. And I must say it's one of the places we liked during our time in Gold Coast. The food are fresh, unpretentious, and kids friendly. We ordered, Green curry Mussels, King Prawns, Buratta, and Ice Cream Coconut Milk Chocolate (I love this one). The ambiance are classic and had a rustic feel to it. Overall we enjoy it, I would recommend this.

Great food cooked delicately and tastefully ....fantastic service which was attentive and unobtrusive ... Beautiful spot to dine on the Goldie. Well done Chef Damian 😊👍 Will be back again and again!!!

Great dining experience.<br/><br/>Food, wine and service was fantastic - definitely a fine dining experience.<br/><br/>We had a wonderful night. <br/><br/>Need to book in advance on weekends and during holiday periods.

Service : Lots of disorganization and confusion between staff. We had 4 -5 people serve us through the night. <br/>Ambience : stunning. Sometimes their recording was less atmospheric and more like an intense concerto. But the lighting and feel was stunning. <br/>Food : nice food but not exceptional. My blue travelling was overcooked and lost its delicate texture. Our shared steamed fish ginger and shallot trout was perfect. They have bottomless servings of vegetablws/potato with the mains. <br/>I feel overall the quality of the food did not quote match the high quality ambience nor the cost of the meals. <br/>I'm going to try this place one more time to see if it is as good as someone once told me. This time it didn't deliver.

I know this place is celebrated and we very much looked forward to dining there but it didn't float our boat.<br/>Location is fabulous, with beautiful views of Burleigh beach.<br/>Service was excellent and staff knew the menu inside out.<br/>In hindsight perhaps we should have stuck with a fish to share, clearly that's their speciality.<br/>I had a prawn cocktail which underwhelmed. Shredded iceberg lettuce and beautiful prawns. That's it. Where was the avocado and seafood sauce? Natural and fresh seafood, yes, just dull..<br/>He had the seafood marinara, quality seafood with spaghetti and olive oil, but again, dull.<br/>I know they specialise in plain seafood with simple dressings like olive oil but we found our meals boring, dull and very expensive. $300 + for dinner for two. Perhaps we chose the wrong dishes, we wanted to love our special occasion dinner there, but we didn't.<br/>Wouldn't try it again, but lots of others seem to rave about it, so decide for yourself.

A beautiful venue right across the road from Burleigh point. <br/><br/>I booked a window table for my wife and I for lunch during the week.<br/><br/>Upon entering the venue it is a nice space. Great views and open bay windows bring outside in. Slightly cramped table set up though which results in waitstaff being on top of you whilst serving other tables. (Depending where you sit)<br/><br/>I had a couple of beautiful glasses of voyager estate Chardonnay with lunch. The wine list is extensive but priced well with options for all, including a good half bottle selection. <br/><br/>Now the food. We had a selection of entrees and decided to share a main. The king prawns were beautiful to the eye, served only with a half lemon and the sauce the were grilled in. However they were slightly over done, resulting in a touch of rubberiness in texture. They were also lacking in flavour. <br/><br/>Next was the Morton bay bug tagliolini. The tagliolini itself was beautiful. Aldente and textural a real joy to eat but unfortunately the bugs were fishy and the sauce a bit to acidic and lacking in flavour. <br/><br/>We ordered the mahi mahi schnitzel w dill pickle and fries for a main. Again we were disappointed. The fish was dry and tough (pretty sure it had been frozen)and the fries greasy and burnt. <br/><br/>Dessert however was our saving grace, a apple tart tatin served w burnt toffee ice cream. Crisp crunchy pastery, beautifully caramelised apples and creamy flavourful ice cream. <br/><br/>All in all for the price you pay there is much better out there. Rick shores across the street knocks the food here out of the park. It's not terrible but it's not great either. A kind of ode to old school GC restaurants. <br/><br/>The same question I always ask rolls around in my head. What would I go back for? In this case it would only be for the Chardonnay.

Situated in a prime position in Burleigh Heads, The Fish House has topped the Gold Coast’s ‘must do’ dining list since it was opened by Simon Gloftis four years ago. A row of Norfolk pines on the beach’s edge serves only to frame the view of Burleigh’s gleaming white sand and famous surf break just beyond the restaurant’s front windows; so close that we can almost taste the salt spray as we dine.

Phenom! Absolutely loved our lunch here on a gorgeous late Summers day. We went with the set menu which was faultless and such good value. For $90 we dined on yellow fin tuna with tuna sauce, royal miyagi oyster and caviar, lemony fish soup (John Dory) with flash fried calamari and the best house made tartare sauce, chargrilled octopus, seafood risotto, and the final course was Patagonian toothfish which was sensational. The toothfish was served with three generous sides made up on a steamed green mix of peas, snow peas and broccoli; roast potatoes; and cos lettuce salad. We also had half a dozen oysters to start and complementary sourdough was provided throughout with olive oil and house churned butter with black salt. Stunning views, faultless food and service. A true delight.

We were excited to be going here for the first time based on reviews. It was supposed to be a celebration of our last day on the Gold Coast and a means of showcasing our seafood to the international guests we were entertaining. Overall it was disappointing. We dine out regularly in Australia and overseas and when prices are at the levels presented at The Fish House you expect something exceptional - and it was not delivered here. I expect to pay a little more when a restaurant has a prime spot with a great view but everything else must also live up to it. Noosa's top restaurants manage this - food may be expensive, due to being in Australia and having great views over the water, but prices are more reasonable than here. Here a cloudy-eyed fish was paraded to our table before it was cooked, most dishes were heavily sauce-laden, mussels were undersized and also overly sauced. The bread was great, as was the wine, but when minimum bottle prices start around sixty dollars and average prices are well over one hundred you'd expect it to be. The food was acceptable but not great. There is a significant mismatch between price and quality. At the prices on offer we expected exceptional quality seafood, presentation and overall experience. We left underwhelmed.

What an experience , flawless service and immaculate dining, worth every cent. Forget about the price, as to what price can you put on the feeling of being totally satisfied , of all your senses. The chef cooked our favourite , despite it not being on the menu, and all the serves were Devine.

What a fantastic gastronomic experience.<br/><br/>The waitress kindly called to let us know our table was ready early and did we want to come down enjoy to the sunset, so we did.<br/>We began with cocktails they were sensational!<br/>Our waiter was super attentive without being overbearing, we chose the set menu so we could try a bit of everything. <br/>If you are looking for just a 'meal out' this may not be the place for you. If you arrive price conscious they you won't fully be able to appreciate the experience and holy hell what a amazing experience.<br/>I am a sucker for great customer service, I love it and I am prepared to pay for it. The Fish House certainly did not disappoint in this area which made the beautiful food and extensive wine list all the more enjoyable.<br/>For the evening that was provided to us and the quality of produce, I do not feel I overpaid in the slightest.<br/>Next time we are up from Melbourne we will definitely be back !!!!

<br/><br/>The meals were overall salty. The portion size were below average for entrees and main meals. If your spending over $100 per person I would consider somewhere else. <br/>

I've dined here a few times and l've always had a beautiful meal. Although the menu is fine dining, there is still a clear Greek influence to many of the dishes in that there isn't often too much fussing and the fish can be enjoyed for itself. I dined recently on a saturday evening with friends. We sat by the window and enjoyed the last of the evening sun over some fresh Sydney rock oysters. We shared a selection entries including some beautiful scallops and a yabbi risotto which was divine. I had the sustainably caught Patagonian toothfish (also known as black cod) which melted like butter in my mouth. I've often eaten this Nobu style with sweet miso, which probably inspired this dish as there was a lovely sticky glaze which really brings out the sweetness of the fish. The mains all come with generous sides and we were well and truly stuffed after dessert (spot on creme brûlée). The bill was a lot more than suggested although we did go through a few half bottles and stickies. The wine list is good with some nice Greek wines, with a decent selection of half bottles which means we can try a few. Service was attentive without being intrusive. This is still one of my favourite restaurants on the Gold Coast.

Just back from a nice dinner out with the spouse. Very nice. Great service- attentive but not overbearing - good menu (we went a la carte) and nice wine list. Good food and wine matching. Not cheap but not overpriced either. Recommend
Rebecca
A beautiful spot. The Fish House is perfectly set up to feel like a beach house. The food was tasty, with the calamari entrée being the highlight. A little bit more selection of non alcoholic drinks would be good. Parking on a sunny Sunday was a nightmare

Excellent service. Lovely food. Beautiful views. Not too expensive considering quality of meals and portion sizes. Perfect for a decadent lunch.
Eat And Be Merry Crew
One thing that the place offers, rarely seen elsewhere, is Patagonian toothfish from the Heard Island fishery. Before readers go all eco-warrior about this, I looked it up before we went. The Heard Island fishery is well-managed, and the catch quotas are set at a precautionary level. So this was a fish we definitely wanted to sample.  The toothfish portion was tiny, and covered in sweet goo - "caramelised", said the menu. What does toothfish taste like? I have no idea. All I remember is a lot of sugar, with a hint of fish. The texture of the fish (firm, flaky and moist) was wonderful, and promised great things, but it was impossible to get past the sweet goo. I tried to scrape it off, without success - whoever had assembled this dish was determined that we wouldn’t get past the sugar.

This type of restaurant is what the Gold Coast needs more of. Cannot fault it. Amazing food, drinks and most importantly service, top stuff!

I didn't really enjoy the experience at all. Only the scallops rated a mention. Fish pie was too salty for me. Certainly the food was over priced.
Monique Alexandra Maclean
It is a lovely location with lovely staff and atmosphere BUT I feel the food was overpowered by sauces or batter not needed as it let down the hero in each meal the seafood, I think that it has potential to be great I just did not find it that great.

Firstly, what a great location!! <br/>Looking out the beautiful burleigh beach is definitely a great asset to this restaurant.<br/>This place is not just the view, but food is...AMAZING!!<br/>From precise and wonderfully presented plate to the unforgettable flavor, this place has got it all. Menu changes daily too which keeps me coming back.<br/>The meal is pretty expensive so I don't visit occasionally but The fish house is always on the top of my list.
Miguel Sanchez Robertson
This place has fantastic food and service with the prices to match... I really enjoyed it and so did my companion with the only downside being that our rock lobster pasta dish arrived at our table win the pasta severely undercooked. We love al dente pasta but this ridiculous. We notified our server and the message was relayed to the kitchen and GM and the dish was subsequently removed from our bill - well done. It did make me think though , if j am paying $50 for a pasta entree I would really expect my pasta to be hand made and not from a packet !<br/><br/>Oh well - everything was else fantastic - you must try the raw scampi for entree , and ocean trout if it's available as both are simply divine.<br/><br/>Also - make sure you get a side of the potato cakes - you won't regret it.<br/><br/>Thanks fish house for a great night,
Tracey Meyer
We recently went on a date night to the Fish House in Burleigh Heads. The Fish House is located on Goodwin Terrace in Burleigh Heads and overlooks the ocean, perfect for a romantic dinner date. If I had enough money, I would probably eat here at least once a week. The food’s so simple but so darn amazing and beautiful at the same time.
Helen McKenna
Had a lovely meal here for lunch with the gals this week. We all tried something different, I had the trout that was crusted in herbs it was very nice and the " complimentary salad and greens helped round of the meal well. The service was excellent and views amazing.
Hungry And Fussy
Nothing quite says summer like a seafood feast on a beachfront setting at Burleigh Heads. Simon Gloftis of Hellenika has done wonders for the Gold Coast dining scene. The Fish House is another stellar example of how things have drastically stepped up over the past decade. There are plenty of gluten free options on offer. This is a seafood restaurant where simplicity and freshness reign supreme. My entree of thick and creamy lemon fish soup transports me back to my childhood, loudly slurping ‘psarosoupa’ at mum’s kitchen table.
Alegna
We had the degustation menu comprising 5 courses. Degustation dishes are also on the a la carte menu. Highlights were: raw scampi (creamy in texture and unique in taste), crustacean risotto (sauce full of flavour) and the tooth fish (most tender fish I've ever had). Would definitely revisit if back up on the Gold Coast.

Perfect venue for family & couples I had some amazing FRESH fish not delivered by Bidvest!!!!!!<br/>Fantastic staff & management.<br/>Lunch times are my favourite looking out to Burleigh beach and ocean sparking wine and simple fish & chips with entree of oysters and melt in your mouth scallops Great stuff Simon G
Fat Food Guru
This place is a hard place for me to review, although the food was pretty good, the value for money was ridiculous. We had flash fried squid for entree, it was pretty good, tender and soft. For mains we had had ocean trout with herbs oven baked and crumbed whiting. At around $42 each for an oven baked piece of fish and crumbed fried fish $100 on mains is unbeleivable. Each piece of fish was cooked perfet which it should be for the price. Desserts we had creme brulee and chocolate fondant. They were both good. $15 each probably not though. The place is considered fine dining but if you want romance i wouldnt particularly call it that. After 7 its quite busy and loud. Tables are close together and if theres a group of more than 6 then its a loud place. We had a wondow seat and was very nice. Overall if you wanna lash out and pay for the fish house experince, go ahead and try it, but if i didnt have a $200 voucher id never go here, heavily overpriced. Except if your a real seafood lover than the degustation menu for $90 might suit you. It didnt suit us though. Food 4.5, ambience 3.5, service 4.5, price 2.5

Nothing short of spectacular. Food amazing, exceptional service and that view...... what can I say. Thank you all for taking care of us. We will tell all our friends. We will be back! Thank you

Can't put a price on good food! The toothfish was recommended, which I'm extremely happy about because it was the best fish I've ever had! Highly recommend this place!

Well, what a treat this was – this was my first trip to the Gold Coast and I was lucky that my lovely friends picked me up at Brisbane airport and drove me down the scenic route to Burleigh Heads. When we pulled up outside The Fish House, I must say, it didn’t look anything too impressive, and the inside is pretty casual too with simple wooden tables and chairs. However we were seated at a great table right at the open windows – the sun was shining and we had a great view of the beach just across the road.

I love this No.1 (2014) and No. 3 (2015) regional Top 10 best restaurant of Queensland by Gourmet Traveller. I had dined in twice. The first time I ordered the degustation and the second only ordered a la carte. Both times I sat by the window, it was comfortable and relaxed. Degustation courses are plenty, though they are rustic without fine-dining plating but the key are the freshness of the seadfood. Happy with them and also like the idea of window display at the front of kitchen so diners can see what kind of fishes are available on that day. They even have whole fish head on the menu and actually we did order it on the second visit which gave a big surprise to the kid sitting at next table. I wish you can keep up with your standard and can achieve three hatted in the future.

Pricey but incredible food with a beautiful view - good for special events. We went here for my boyfriends bday and it was beautiful. They go all out with the fancy service but considering the prices I though this was warranted. We had the best table and a nice breeze. Extensive wine list but again, at a price. We ordered oysters first - amazing! Main I had the coral trout and my boyfriend had the King George Whiting. Both were cooked to perfection and the star of the meal for him was the incredible Tartare Sauce... OMG!!! Dessert was again perfect and they gave my boyfriend a little box of sweets as a bday gift which was so lovely. It is very pricey so I would only go for a special occasion but even writing this my mouth is watering at the thought of the oysters and coral trout!
Simonfairweather
Overpriced and overrated. I had heard great things about The Fish House but I was left disappointed. <br/>Members of my dining party paid over $40 for their pieces of fish. 3 Slivers of fish came out on their plates and nothing else.<br/>Sides were brought out to the table and the most ridiculous was the "salad". I'm sorry but a chopped up piece of Romaine lettuce is not a salad. Very insulting when you consider the cost of eating at The Fish House.<br/>I get setting the prices high for the exclusivity but honestly, this was a joke.

We popped down to the coast for some birthday festivities, kicking the day off with a glorious meal at The Fish House ! This fine dining establishment with an inconspicuous, red brick exterior and simple branding, was a mind-blowing dining experience.

Consistent As Always (consistently good that is!). Last night we again enjoyed the delights of The Fish House. Shared Char Grilled Yabbies, followed by mains of Thin Spaghetti w Bug Meat & a Whole Flounder off the board. Great atmosphere, great service, nice people and superb food. See you soon.
Butch
The Fish House really floats my boat. <br/><br/>Try your best to score a seat at the window, so you can enjoy the best seafood the Gold Coast has on offer with a dash of ocean breeze. <br/><br/>Whilst the Raw and Oyster options are always a good bet, The Fish House really shines in its entrees and mains, when the chef's have an opportunity to add their ever so slight, but important influence. Lemony Fish Soup was a unique and special starter and the Prawn Cocktail was top of the class. <br/><br/>Mains of Steamed Mussels and the Ocean Trout with all its complimentary sides, left us busting at the seams. So much so my girlfriend had to take her spanks off. <br/><br/>Not the cheapest fare on the GC, but excellent value and good portion sizes. Solid wine list with some reasonable priced options - hello $45 bottle of Riesling. <br/><br/>Will definitely be back.

Amazing experience, great service, ambiance. The food was delicious best seafood experience we've had.

Amazing location. Great service. Only downside was we felt the set menu was a let down. The fish head we received, although beautiful, was inadequate. The other courses were okay. Nothing amazing. Next time we return we will order from the menu as there was so many amazing options we wanted to try but the waiter convinced us the set menu was the way to go. Next time will follow our instincts. But all in all an amazing night with great service so will definitely return!

Disappointment plus. Arrived looking forward to a lovely evening but was truly disappointed. The worst dining experience I have ever had.

Loved it! Service was friendly and attentive. Started with the crustacean risotto which was delicious! Best fancy fish and chips for main and crime brûlée for dessert. Lovely spot by the water.

An outstanding dining experience. Fresh delicious seafood a fabulous selection of wines and gorgeous ocean views. Great and attentive staff especially Bradd who really made our night even better. You have to try the lemony fish soup it's to die for.

What a fantastic dining experience with my family at The Fish House.<br/>The high quality of the food and the flavours were mouth watering.<br/>For a Sea Food lover, The Tooth Fish main dish would have to be the best fish dish I have ever had. The flavours and the fish just melted in my mouth.<br/>The staff were very helpful in explaining the various dishes and attending to all our needs without being over the top (thanking the staff member in charge of our table to finding a sweet Riesling that my wife and I just loved, and writing down the name for us).<br/><br/>Simon and his team provided a five star dining experience from the moment we walk in to the moment we left.<br/>Highly recommend the dining experience at The Fish House and the unique experience of tasting The Tooth Fish.<br/><br/>Looking forward to our next visit.<br/><br/>Thanking Simon and his team!!!

Unpleasant experience on arrival with my elderly parents after hearing good reviews sadly staff were rude and arrogant as we had no booking mid week.took our business elsewhere. Had a great meal at oscars over the road from fish house. Closer to beach friendly obliging staff.

Fantastic. I really having nothing to say except that they get everything just right.

Dined there for lunch today. My meal was exquisite. I had the "raw selection" which was truly divine. My sons kids crumbed fish was also cooked to perfection. Everything we had was delicious. The staff were extremely attentive and professional. We felt a little underdressed as we hadn't planned to stop there after our walk in the national park, but the staff made us feel very welcome. Views from the table are also beautiful as you look across to the beach. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you are lucky enough to be in the area.

This restaurant is divine. Fantastic food, fantastic service. Accompanied by a delightful view and wonderful restaurant all contributes to this restaurant being on the "must visit" list. <br/><br/>I will be back.

Nothing to Complain about!. Went for the Chef's Menu Lunch and matching wines. It was a picturesque day in Burleigh, Window seat with views all the way to Surfers. Amazing! We started off with a cocktail, mine was perfect, all of the courses came in share plates which I found to be great, it is such a good way to eat. The wines varied from all over the world, and I must say I was not too keen on the Chardonay. However I dont like it at the best of times. The rest of the wine was great. All of the food was suberb, faultless, I have never tasted octopus like it. It was all so fresh and delicious. Dessert was also perfection, I had the creme brulee.I am not usually a desert eater, I just knew it would be amazing so I could not resist, and was not disapointed. It is not cheap, however for a special occasion, I would highly recommend this excellent restaurant. The service was also excellent. I will be back.

Superb. I'm already planning a return visit, a fantastic dining experience from the second we walked in the door. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable without being intrusive. We had the menu of the day - four courses and great value for money. The 'lemony fish soup' was much more exciting than the name leads you to expect, it had an incredible depth of flavour. It was the highlight, but there were no lowlights.

Stunning. This is the only restaurant I will visit for dinner now when I am on the Gold Coast. The food is outstanding, the view and fitout are amazing and the staff are lovely and accomodating. The manager, Jessica, is incredibly professional and helped us find a table one evening when we walked in late after a delayed flight (and had no booking!). Couldn't recommend enough.

Mish. I booked this restaurant on the recommendation of past patrons on Urban spoon and Trip Advisor and what a great choice it was. The restaurant has gorgeous beach views from the open huge front windows up along the Gold Coast to Surfers. The food was just delicious and well priced. The atmosphere was relaxing with good music at a level which didn't compete with restaurant conversation. All the staff were professional and friendly. Highly recommend and I can't fault anything. Yum. 10/10

Brilliant. TRY THE SOUP! You won't regret it!

An enjoyable dining experience. Couldn't recommend it enough, I love the attention to fine tableware and appealing decor. The food is just amazing - still trying to recreate the potato recipe...

Absolutely amazing! The best meal I've had on the Gold Coast, and one of the best I've had anywhere.<br/><br/>Staff are fantastic, beautiful setting....10/10.

Fantastic restaurant. A simply amazing venue for my mother's 70th birthday lunch on 31 December. The food was superb, the staff attentive and responsive and the restaurant went above and beyond to make the lunch a special celebration even providing personalised menus on the table. The chef's selection at $70 per person is excellent value and a great way to taste your way through the best the menu offers. The side of ocean trout, sea urchin pasta and tarte tartin was especially delicious.

Great octopus, not barramundi fish and chips. Ate with family recently as a b'day treat. The octopus is amazing - don't question, just do it. Service was great. Wine list is wonderful and sommelier was good. y mum had steak and said it was fine. However my husband had ordered fish and chips twice before and said they were the best ever (I can't remember the name of the fish but it was unusual , maybe NZ??) however this time he and my dad ordered the fish and chips and instead of the usual fish it was barramundi (they knew that when they ordered) - they both were terribly disappointed - said it was greasy, oily, ....... just not nearly as nice as usual and now don't want to go back ...... :(:(

Location & ambience spectacular... food was good however the pacific oysters were extremely salty almost like the are kept in salt water in the shells and I love my sodium but these were OTT the prawn cocktail was ok way to much lettuce and some avo would have been nice the prawns were super fresh. The scallop entree dish was to die for the Ocean Trout main and sides were lovely too on a negative note the service was friendly and warm but very sporadic I think if you are half way through a meal and a waiter takes away your empty glasses they should offer you more drinks? She didn't and we then had to wave another waiter over to order more also we were not told anything about the specials of the day which was disappointing as after we had ordered and then saw them on the blackboard we would have ordered them. Like it but won't be in hurry to go back as we weren't wowed prefer the sister restaurant Hellenika at Nobbys.

We had the 7 course degustation here 2 nights ago. The waitress was extremely helpful and accommodating in a non pretentious way. We started with an option of 2 oyster types, followed by a selection of 3 unique sashimi selection(king fish, scallops, & trout), continued with a lovely lemon fish soup, fried calamari, grilled octopus, and to finish, we had a whole rockhead fish, cooked with fresh tomatoes and herbs. We certainly received our money's worth, and would recommend this place if ur around burleigh heads anytime.

Stunning restaurant, but a few gripes.... Made a booking on Sunday for dinner that night. I was offered 530pm or 830pm and I took the earlier booking.<br/><br/>Being aware of the two sittings, we arrived at 520pm for our reservation, to be told "Our doors dont open until 530pm". Instead of hovering on the pavement, we went to the local surfclub for a quick drink, meaning we didnt get back until 545pm. Still - we were only the second group in the restaurant.<br/><br/>[Gripe No.1 - if you are going to take reservations from 530pm - most people out of courtesy will arrive shortly before this - so its worth being open from 5pm or 515pm].<br/><br/>Our waitress was French and exceptional - initially.<br/><br/>Sides of bread were unlimited and warm and fresh.<br/><br/>We shared the Sydney Rock Oysters which were perfectly cold and fresh.<br/><br/>Our meals of snapper (with the more than filling sides) were impressive and delicious.<br/><br/>At 7pm we were offered the dessert menu and we asked for a small break.<br/><br/>Our waitress who had been ever so pleasant all evening, arrived back at our table at 710pm and abruptly advised "So do you want dessert? Its now or never if you do because another table is coming in after yours". A little shocked, two of us ordered an affogato. This came out quickly given the limited preparation required. Within ten mins, they had cleaned the table, presented our bill and we'd paid, feeling like we had limited time left to enjoy our wine and the experience.<br/><br/>Our waitress had earlier poured out the remains of our bottle of wine, and at 734pm returned to our table (one of us had finished their glass of wine and the other two of us had about 1 cm left in the glass). She stated "The next table is here and they have been waiting for a while, so you can finish your drinks at the bar, or....."<br/><br/>I advised we each had one sip left, so we finished it at the table and left.<br/><br/>Even if the next group had arrived, Id suspect their booking wasnt until 730pm anyway. So they'd been waiting less than 5 mins. If they had arrived earlier than their reservation, it was lucky for them they had the opportunity to have a drink at the bar, which we didnt upon arriving early for our reservation.<br/><br/>Had we asked for another drink or more to eat and been told there was a table straight after, we'd have understood the offer to have a drink at the bar. I have dined all over the world and never been told to finish my meal/drinks at the bar to accommodate the next table. Im unsure why their booking was any more important than mine?<br/><br/>The Fish House is a stunning establishment. The service was faultless up until dessert and the food is worth the price. Its actually rare to stumble upon a lovely restaurant these days with stunning food AND service.<br/><br/>We thought we had found it.<br/><br/>Its a shame that such a sour taste was left in our mouths.

WHAT A BIRTHDAY!. We dined here on our first night in Queensland. It was my boyfriend's birthday. Such a nice time! Food was fantastic and service was incredible. We would definitely recommend the King Fish and Flash Fried Calamari entres. I am a coeliac; the kitchen was more than happy to adjust the dishes accordingly! Gluten free bread too!!
John
I didn't know fish could taste this good !. Smoked fish plate and the grilled octopus as a shared starter were just divine. At our waiters suggestion make sure you leave some of that fresh bread to soak up those delicious juices. Even the gluten free bread was first rate. Steamed King George whiting and the grilled Tuna as mains were simply cooked but the perfect mix of herbs and spices along with only the freshest ingredients made the whole meal a real treat. Waiting staff were great and the wine list was very extensive. Keep the Fish House on your must do list.

Simply wonderful. Oh the food the food the food. Simple, elegant and perfect. The wait staff are fantastic and are appropriately attired (something that is sometimes missing from the gold coast)<br/>Food really is amazing, we both had the fish, perfectly cooked the sides were presented in the middle to share. The wine list is extensive and should keep everyone happy. The outlook is breathtaking.<br/>I will be back.

Will I Swim Back this Way?. Dined here on April the 5th at Lunch.<br/><br/>Food was simply cooked. Well presented however the Chef could be much more creative. No real interesting flavors or textures. Just clean, well cooked seafood.<br/><br/>Wine Menu was perfect. Great selection even for Brisbane. Cocktails weren't so good.<br/><br/>Service was under-par. Rude, foreign waitstaff with bad menu knowledge took away from the better, seniors staff's efforts.<br/><br/>Overall, a Solid effort for the Gold Coast. Not overly priced.
Jun
Interior and food was good, not great.<br/>Great wine selection.<br/><br/>My main gripe is the food taking too long and is slightly overpriced compared to oscars down the road.

In love with fish. The team at Fish House clearly love and respect their fish. Starters of smoked fish of the day, Spanish anchovies and whole school prawns stood out for their quality and simplicity. For mains there are too many fish choices to mention, I had the Kingfish head and collar which was something I'd not had before and glad I did. Great location overlooking the beach and coast, and friendly and helpful staff. Mains are on the expensive side (although not by Gold Coast standards) but when the food is good you can live with it.

These guys are doing an awesome job. Only open a few weeks and pumping at Christmas time and the food and service is spot on. One of the best WLs on the GC and would be in great company anywhere. Food superb. Had school prawn, oyster, bugs, kingfish and fish and chips. All excellent - only disappointment was no clams. We will be back ...... Soon!!

They've nailed it. This is an exceptional restaurant. Easily one of the best seafood restaurants I have experienced, if not the best. From the street - unassuming We went here for lunch on a beautiful Gold Coast Saturday afternoon and were so impressed we booked again for Sunday.

My first mouthful took transported me to my happy place, it had a sweetness and freshness that was unparalleled in almost any other risotto I've eaten. I know when I've found perfection in a dish, I take smaller and smaller mouthfuls so I can preserve the flavour for as long as possible. With my Fish House risotto, the last dozen or so bites would have fit on the end of a knife. You must do yourself a favour and get in and try that risotto.
Dolce Bunnie
Staying true to Simon's Greek heritage, he has kept every dish simple, using quality olive oil and lemon, yet this simplicity brings out the best in the seafood offered here.

While the fish was beautiful, I have to say that the homemade tartare sauce was the star of the show. Yes, I know that I sound sacrilegious but it’s true, we couldn’t get enough of that stuff. The sauce was creamy, fresh and punctuated with wonderfully fragrant herbs. If McDonalds ever discovered the recipe for THIS tartare sauce and slopped it on their Filet O’Fish burgers, I’d happily pay $10 a pop for them.
