We had such a lovely dinner here. Ordered the omakase set with matching drinks. It was tasty and delicious. The staff was very knowledgeable and put lots of care into explaining details about the food and the drinks. The matching drinks were perfectly chosen.

Delicious flavours. Pricey. Wouldn’t order the matching wines - small pours. Service off - missed my rib eye order - and rushed us out with the bill before we’d finished our drinks. Great food but no theatre to match the price.

If you would like to have unexpected Omakase dinner experience, each menu has been created from ingredients at the best time of the year @ikuyakitoribar. It is had to explain menu here because you won't get the same as mine anyway because @m_chesty creates new spectacular menu every week. But one thing I can comfrim you will have such a relaxed atmosphere with frienly greeting from their staff. Overall we had a great night and they also gave us the goodies bag to take home too. : : #nutsjourney #japanese #omakase #whiskybar #goldcoast #australia

What a treasure we stumbled across, the team provided amazing service and Dario prepared the most delicious old fashioned smoked in a bottle, would have to say the best old fashioned I have ever had. The food was beautiful, clean and delicious. We could graze all day. A true little treat and all round fantastic experience.

What can I say that hasn't already been said. Iku Yakitori is a wonderful dining experience. From the friendly greeting as we arrived to the thorough explanation of the menu, everything was on point. We were seated at the bar directly in front of the chefs & what a treat that was. Owner & head chef, Mitch Chesterton was friendly & informative & took the time to engage with us explaining the menu & the finer nuances of Japanese cooking & their philosophy of flavour combinations. It was a master class in the fine art & science of Japanese cooking. What an incredible experience. The wait staff are friendly, knowledgeable & very efficient working in quite a small space. Watching the other chef cooking on the hibachi was fascinating and certainly has me interested in trying that style of cooking myself. The food is delicious & I challenge anyone to sit down to the tasting menu & walk away unfulfilled. Every course was a taste sensation. What a winner this place is! I look forward to a return visit, although we do live in Victoria so it does require a little more planning. Keep up the excellent work. 10/10.

Very nice restaurant with amazing food that keep changing every week. I love Japanese food and this is one of the best restaurants I have ever been. Everyone is polite and very nice too. Our 4 little girl was given some of the food for free, very considering. Nice ambient and unique set up of the restaurant too. The moment you walk in you are transported in a another world. Thank you

I went to Iku for my birthday and everything was impeccable! I had the Omakase set menu and as you can see the pictures, food was amazing. Cocktails are also very good and the service was superb! I even got a birthday gift from them which was very lovely :) thanks Iku team for this memorable experience! Five stars!

The staff are lovely and it has a good atmosphere. My criticism is the price for the quality of the food - it's wild that they are charging $85 for their omakase for what they are delivering. When I compare to restaurants like Yoko in Brisbane that offer a cheaper set menu they aren't remotely in the same league in food quality. Very surprised by all the amazing reviews.

Iku Yukitori Bar...Authentic Japanese cuisine in Burleigh Heads...Stepping into the restaurant, dark curtains billow slightly in the breeze as the heavy steel and glass door slides open revealing a mysteriously lit interior...The restaurant offers three seating options...for the adventurous, traditional cross legged seating in an intimate setting, chatting with friends underneath low lit japanese paper lanterns....side by side on comfortable bar stools directly in front of the chefs, watching them create delectable dishes as you listen to a mix of modern easy beats & eclectic jazz...or hang at the whiskey and cocktail bar at the back of the restaurant with a choice of two addtional tables for larger groups...The atmosphere is elegant, soothing & modern with a sense of mystery & fun.....while the food offers simple yet very refined flavors paired with complex, delicate wines, your choice of Japanese whiskey, beer or cocktails...The staff have an extensive knowledge of flavor and food and communicate this passion with ease & friendliness thats makes the experience trully complete...

This was the worst dining experience we have had had. Ever. Although not a massive deal, we walked around burleigh for 15 mins looking for the place. Other people were as well and decided to go to other restaurants because they simply couldn't find it. When we got seated at the yakitori bar (there were only two other people on the bar at this stage), the owner said he would bring us a drink menu. He never did. It took 25 minutes and asking 3 different staff for a drink menu to be given to us. And when we ordered, our waitress simply said "oh it was the owner that was meant to give you your drinks menu, so I can't get him in trouble". And the first waitress we tried to order drinks off refused to take our order and simply said "you'll just have to wait for your waitress to take your drink order". By that stage our waitress had already taken our food order where she explained she would "control the speed of our dining experience". During our ordering of the food, I stated that my partner can't eat eggs. And yet she failed to mention that the oyakodon rice had egg mixed all through it when I asked for the egg in the dish to be placed on the side. When we tried to order the shiitake mushrooms she said "I think we are out of shiitake mushrooms" (it was 6:30pm...). Cut to 40 minutes later when we can clearly see that there are mushroom yakitori being cooked and the waitress not once came to tell us that they magically have them back in stock if we'd like to order some. The yakitori itself was just ok. I've had better yakitori off the street and for way cheaper. It is $8 for 2 skewers of 2 cubes of chicken thigh with spring onion on it. The edemame dip and the ocean trout were delicious. When we finished them, we still hadn't got table water even though the people who had now been seated around us at the bar all had water AND the waitress walked past us multiple times and looked at our finished dishes and decided not to clear them. She clearly had too much on her plate and couldn't handle the amount of customers she was given. She had no control over when we received our food because ultimately it depended on how fast it was cooked on the hibachi grill. We sat down at 6:30 and all our food was given to us by 7:30. Through all this, not once was our table water glasses refilled and the two cocktails that we ordered that are supposed to come out BEFORE you receive food, or close to after receiving the first lot of food, did not arrive until we had finished ALL of our food. A whole hour after we had been sat down. And while that might be fine for some. As the driver, you'd expect to be able to eat and drink over a time period. Now that we'd finished all our food, and were ready to leave, I now had a cocktail sitting there that I couldn't drink because I needed to drive. And our waitresses excuse was " oh we only have 2 bartenders on tonight". 1 whole hour to receive drinks. The people next to us who ordered drinks received their well before us. Which means they don't make drinks in order of who ordered first. But rather the easiest to do first. And clearly the waitress had no "control" over our food speed otherwise she would have slowed it down so that our cocktails would arrive while we were still dining. When we went to pay, neither the owner or the waitress even asked if we enjoyed our meal or "experience". You would think as a new restaurant you would have your customer service down pat. Clearly not. Thanks for ruining date night. Luckily it was salvaged by Ben and Jerry's. We will not be returning and will be telling everyone to avoid this place.

Just two of us. Was a great Japanese experience. At first we thought it could be a bit dark and smoky ( we are over 60 and dark is not good!). But we overlooked this as a wonderful staff Belinda looked after us. Nice drinks. Extensive list. The food was fresh and not all deep fried and fatty ( like so many tapas). Sitting at the bar watching the chefs cook was great. We had chicken and beef on skewers. Cabbage salad and rice. Asparagus wrapped in pork belly the smoky flavour was perfect. All reasonably priced A great addition to Burleigh.

Wow what an experience! I felt like I was back in Japan from the minute I walked in. The food and drinks were so authentic and delicious - their Sapporo beer on tap is actually brewed in Japan and is a taste sensation. We had the Kingfish (incredibly fresh) and a mixture of yakitori skewers and have to say the asparagus and pork belly was a stand out as well as the fried chicken. Can't wait to come back and try more of the adventurous things on the menu.

We had the best night with the cocktail testing at the bar. Adam was a great host. The cocktails were amazingly creative. The whole experience it absolutely worth it. The food is also amazing, but we didn't expect anything less from this crew. They are very good at what they do. We may have staggered out of there, but it was completely worth. Would totally do that again, and it is perfect to take visitors from out of town to for something different. Thank you for a great night, I'll be back for the tangelo cello!! :-)

What an amazing "Gold Coast Gem". The food was incredible, the ambience was amazing and the staff were helpful, knowledgable and friendly. The cocktails were delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for something a bit special. Cant wait to come back and try some more dishes!! THANKS IKU!!

Great food & impeccable friendly service I recommend the oyokadon & the beef tenderloins

Cute place, great service. The food was not good value for money. Tiny plates of small over-priced chicken skewers. After spending over $100 each (including drinks) we all left very hungry and wouldn't go back. Nice little bar at the back. I hope this place makes some changes to it's serving sizes.

I have loved going to Iku every since it first opened. They have a very unique and Japanese inspired interior/exterior which brings me back to my travels to japan. They cook the yakitori in front of you and the atmosphere is so cool. All the food I’ve had there has been authentic and amazing. Definitely need to go back soon and would recommend going there if you’re looking for a nice intimate dining experience or you can go down the back to the whiskey bar.

Cute setting and relaxing atmosphere but extremely hard to find, no signage or whatever so we had to call and got directions. Ordered the $7 chicken soup with seasonal vegetable, very salty and served in a cup, felt like I was having a $1.50 Chicken Maggie cup noodle soup minus the noodle. The $10 Chicken gizzard was pretty bland but texture was god, still had that crunch without over cooking it. The $8 Chicken sasami was by far my favorite, served with a delicious wasabi flavoured radish really brightens the palette. The $9 Chicken tabasaki was quite bland unless you add the Japanese chilli powder provided by the restaurant!
Overall an OK place if you want to catch up with mates and have light bites but I wouldn’t come back just to dine.

A really cool speakeasy feel to this place, especially on Sunday with the most amazing live band playing jazz. We liked the asparagus wrapped pork belly and on special's menu- Wasabi prawn.
All in all a nice yakitori place to hang with friends
