Undo was tasteless and the karaage was raw.
I made an sushi order and expecting the sushi will freshly made, but the staff just pick it from the train and it was dry and I believe it was sitting on the train since afternoon......a lot to improve!!!

Normally really good but thought I would come for a birthday meal...... it's 7:39pm and the entire sushi train has 4 plates on it with a full house. Really disappointed. Salmon avocado hand roll normally packed with salmon had one small piece of salmon and a lot of rice. Don't come at peak times they obviously can't handle it.

Disappointed they have to put small amounts of ginger in plastic wrappers - having no concern about minimising their plastic output. Surely they could put their fresh ginger in a jar like a lot of other sushi trains do... So many simple ways to reduce plastic yet so many companies such as this couldn’t care less. Being in a popular beach spot - please have some responsibility for the nearby beaches.

Pretty mediocre at best. Came here on a Sunday when all plates are $4 which to me is on the steeper end of a the price range for the sushi that was presented. Perhaps it was because it was a "Cheap" Sunday deal, there were only a selection of basic sushi rolls and nigiri. The train was very empty even though there were not many people in the restaurant. We also ordered a Katsu Don, Spicy Pork Don and a Udon Soup, somewhat tasty but very small portions. The staff were friendly and the service was good.

Great food and friendly staff. I went here with my friend, I wanted sushi and they wanted something else, the staff let them bring in food from another restaurant so that I could eat sushi. Overall I think that this is a really good sushi shop!

My family had a great time at Sushi on James. Reasonable prices and yummy fresh sushi! We took our almost 2 year old and the staff were great with him and even gave him a sticker as we left. Thanks for a great time! Highly recommend!!

Interesting experience. Sat down at a booth and was rudely questioned as to whether we were wet. We were 100% dry however had went hair from having a shower prior. The waitress didn't seem to believe us and due to the wet hair and "possible" wetness requested us sit on the stool. After trying to persuade her we were dry we reluctantly ordered our meals as the food is pretty good and come here quite often, but was very close to walking out in disgust. In addition, others walked in with "wet hair" and umbrellas and were not questions as far as we know. Atrocious customer service

We are regulars that go every week, we had visitors from Sydney who consider themselves experts on Japanese food, they were amazed at the quality and service of Sushi on James, left the other restaurants for dead. Highly recommend the salmon teppenyaki.

Walked in for dinner sat in a booth and straight away the waitress came up to us asking if we were wet. I had wet hair as I had just had a shower but completely dry clothes! she was demanding us to move to the stools. If the wasn't so good we would have walked out! The girl was so rude and should definitely work on her customer service! Can't believe how I was treated

Came here with our 4 year old & when we were finally served asked for a bowl of steamed rice for her. Asked 2 more times before receiving it just before we left! Bit overpriced for sushi too. Disappointing

Ate there for the first time yesterday only had 3 pieces of tuna and avocado knew it didn't taste right! was a hot day got take away at around 3:30pm woke up at 3 am with severe food poisoning just watch out on those got day as it could have been sitting there since lunch!

Asked if we had been to the beach before seating.....wanted a booth as my 3 yr old tends to fall off stools, not to mention just helping himself to everything that goes past......was told 'no you have to sit on a stool!'.......that's ok.....we took our business elsewhere!!!!!

Sashimi was nice, I would recommend ordering fresh plated because the sushi train is old and stale. To finish things off the lady tried to over charge all 3 of us individually<br/>

Feel like this is sushi for dummies not a lot of raw fish options. Also not a lot of love in the preparation and therefore it fell apart. Been to much better sushi places

Really is the worst sushi place I've ever been to. Can you believe most dishes are meat roll but not actual seafood sushi roll? We are by the sea come on! The rice is so badly cooked and the sashimi is sliced so ugly, I feel for the fish! The middle of the sashimi is cold.

I decided to go sushi train. The sushi tasted brilliant and was very good quality.I had 2 tuna and avo and 2 salmon and avo. I'm glad I had an amazing lunch at Burleigh Heads .

I was hesitant to go to a place with a sushi train but thought I'd give not a go. I was glad I did as the food at Sushi on James was excellent. We had a variety of sushi plates including a tempura teriyaki salmon sushi (yes, fried sushi). This is apparently a Brazilian creation and not a traditional Japanese dish but who cares when it's this delicious. I had the vegetarian bibimbap as my main course and it was fantastic - it was served with a delicious kimchi and a spicy miso both of which contributed lots of flavour. Of course, those crunchy rice bits are the best. Absolutely fantastic.

we've come here a few times over the yeas and no doubt this joint is slipping. beef teppanyaki was tough as and you have to be pretty selective about what you choose off the 'train'. better joints not too far down the road in Miami and Broadbeach

Great food. It looks like it might be just poorly done stuff for the tourists but it is genuinely quality food done by people who know what they are doing. And it is brilliant value. Get the miso salmon soup for $4.50 and you could not buy the raw salmon for that for the amount you get. Great feed and value. Huge range. Get the ordered menu items rather than the train is my tip.

Great Sushi, great place. Dont know where last reviewer got prices, pretty hard to pay $6 when max plate price is $5.50, whatever, this place is great, sets the new standard for staff service, quality food and great ambiance, best dvd collection! and great music.

Beautiful fresh sushi but overpriced. $6 for one and a half rice paper rolls is over the top. I don't mind paying for quality but this was a rip off.
