Review The Merrywell - Burswood

Tracey Giles
Absolutely loved our lunch experience at The Merrywell. We ordered off the share menu. When they arrived we were pleasantly surprised how big the servings were! So be warned! Meals were fresh, hot and yum! Plenty of beers, wine and cocktails are on offer. Also mocktails for those of us that don't drink alcohol at lunch, but want to be a bit fancy! Staff were also friendly. The restaurant was clean, though a little worn in some places. Will definitely be backšŸ˜Š

Wow! How did I not try this place sooner?? Been coming to Crown and always skip place thinking it just like a normal tavern dinner but I was wrong. Took only like 10 mins wait for our food came out and all at once. Staff was friendly and very polite. Portion wise, this is the biggest meal I've ever had! Good for bug eater and worth what you pay for. No bookings required unless you in a group of ten or more. Went there during the week, no waiting in line for table. Will definitely come back again to try other dishes.

Had Sunday night dinner here. Was quite busy, a lovely waitress cleaned a table for us to seat a table of 5. She was so kind and lovely. Food and serves exceptional. Will definitely return back here.

Beautiful venue and clean environment, great vibes. Good selection of food and drinks šŸ‘šŸ¼ the burgers are real nice! (Angus burger super juicy) and believe the staff members if they tell you the chicken parmi is big šŸ˜‚

We enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Merrywell today. Nice and clean, pleasant staff, our food arrived quickly and was hot and delicious! (Well priced too!) The venue is quite pleasant with interesting decor. There are big screens playing music clips, mainly 80's music which we enjoyed. There is outdoor dining available and the casino is easily accessible too. All around, a great day out!

Best steak strips I've had in Perth! Flame-grilled meat, fantastic fries and yummy salad. Great atmosphere too! Well worth a visit.

$36 may seem like a lot of money to pay for nachos ($23 base + $3 jalapenos + $3 sour cream + $7 guacamole), however, guac is included in the base price for the vegetarian option, and the serving size is massive, to share with at least one other person. The flavours are great. Only downside was they came got to the table room temperature.

We had nice beautiful dinner for my daughter's birthday, if you're looking for a venue to celebrate your special occasion The Merrywell probably one of the good option, big space, friendly and very helpful staff (Thank You David - the staff that helping me during my daughter's birthday). The food was also came all at the same time which is this is what I always wanted from a restaurant when it comes to a celebration, so other guest doesn't need to wait too long for their food to come. Really great service and attention to details šŸ˜ŠšŸ˜Š For the price to be honest I was surprised as it's very affordable šŸ˜†šŸ˜† when the cashier told me the total amount, I was like did you missed some of my order? Can you checked it again?? LOL šŸ˜†šŸ˜† The children also enjoy their companion as they can play around near our table, really great night.

Went for some drinks and dinner here. $55 for a 1L sharing jug of cocktails which is awesome value considering you pay $20 for one. I got the Korean chicken bao buns which were also amazing and full of flavour. However on a weekend itā€™s very packed and you do have to wait quite a while for a table.

The Merrywell always seems to be jam packed with diners no matter the day of the week. Came for pre-show dinner on a Sunday and after managing to secure a table (no easy feat & without one you canā€™t order any food), ordered <br/>the Spicy shrimp Lettuce cups (ordinary), Korean fried Chicken baos (absolutely awful - chicken was cooked to within an inch of its life and the bun itself disintegrated when picked up), Wagyu Mini beef burgers (nice), Fries, and Grandmas Chicken parma (huge serve but very average). The setup and ambience of the Merrywell is great & itā€™s decent place for a casual bite with friends (if you can actually manage to get a table). However, I would stick to something safe like a burger - prices are definitely over-inflated for the quality of food served here.

A fun place to spend Friday night with friends. Have tried a few items in their Extensive menu but so far I only could mention the Steak. It's cooked old style , very flavorful.

For $30 we got Merrywell fries which looked like the bits that are left in the cooking oil - too brown, hard and horrible with some gluggy ā€œbaconā€ mayo AND the duck fat fried truffle fries were cold, never been near duck fat, had the tiniest sprinkling of truffle salt and parsley sprinkled on top. The biggest waste of money ever. Last week we had a soggy insipid chilli burger & inedible lumps of coconut rice in the prawn lettuce cups. We will NEVER eat there again.

Way overpriced!!! What a joke! $23 for nachos but then $6 for guac, $3 for sour cream and $3 from jalapenos?!? $35 for nachos! They werent even that amazing. $26 for a burger? Save your money and go to McDonalds. Avoid.
Anna
Cold, tasteless nachos, $3 for sour cream, "loaded" fries were just lukewarm potato chunks with a dipping sauce and zero flavour, very disappointing. Worst meal I've had here.

Ok<br/>It's already 0915am<br/>Not many people in house at the casino.<br/>My food is here. Egg Benedict......cold.<br/>Where is my coffee???? Waited another 3 minutes.<br/>Is it a Perth thing of life or just POOR SERVICE!!!!!
GetinmyBelly
Still my all time favourite pub grub. Be it night out with friends and shared plates or individual meals I always find that the meals are good and hearty. It has a good vibe although it gets really busy on weekend nights!

Itā€™s a bit hit and miss with Merrywell. I went there for early dinner on a Wednesday on my last visit, and it was nearly empty. I think there were only 2 other tables beside our table Ordered the steak and it was realllyyy really good. The portion was great and the meat was really juicy. Their nachos were really good as well. Tried their fish too and it was just okay.<br/><br/>On my visit before that last one, I visited Merrywell on a Saturday night. It was really really packed to the point that it was difficult to walk frm our table to the ordering till. During this visit, my steak was dry and miserable. So maybe if you are going there for the food, itā€™s better to go on weekdays šŸ˜„

Food quality was good overall, however service was lackluster. Ordering system is confusing and staff do not explain how to order when you enter the restaurant (even though there were two staff stationed at the door). Also found a hair in my burger, which is very disappointing for a $26 menu item. I informed the server and he said that ā€œyou should have let me know and we couldā€™ve cooked you a fresh oneā€. He also offered to let the kitchen know so they are aware. I understand where he was coming from, but I found the piece of hair just I was finishing the burger, so this advice was not helpful. No discount or apology was offered and I left the restaurant feeling full but just ok and will not be returning in future.

Shared a few dishes between the 6 of us. I thought everything was delicious, except the cauliflower which turned out more like they have been steamed instead of roasted. Food did take a while to be served, but once the first dish is out, the rest of the dishes came out in a jiffy.
James
Food is overpricde for the quality. I don't believe the place would survive if it wasn't for a captive audience (ie casino patrons). Disappointing.
Reynaldo
In my opinion, i think they serve the best burger in Perth.<br/><br/>The Merrywell Angus Burger was succulent and Juicy and the Lamb Sandwich was unexpectedly better than the Angus Burger.<br/><br/>The restaurant was pretty big in size so the seating was not an issue, except during the football final or weekend
Wulan Sucipto
The place was nice and big. You can choose to sit inside or outside. The foods are nice and the staffs are friendly. Located inside Crown. We ordered the slider, bao and mushroom salad. All was nice.
Mr Robot
Our first time dining at The Merrywell during their opening week was a disaster, however we decided to return as we knew they were only just getting on their feet in terms of management.Ā  Our second time was far more pleasant than the first, even though the whole place was buzzing to the brim with people. I went with a large group and we had a little trouble finding a place to sit so keep that in mind. The food served was alright and not anything to write home about.

So I'm back at Perth for work and staying at the wonderful Crown Towers. My daughter joining me this time, so we thought we'd get some take away back to the room. First of all, Merrywell doesn't do take away. That was fine, but unfortunately the burgers wasn't that great. The bacon was dry and hard, the bun was cold and hard too. Weird for a place like this cos we've been to the Merrywell in Melb and was totally impressed. Oh well, might've been an off night
The Ponder Room
With football finals nearly here perhaps youā€™re looking for somewhere to watch the game. A recent visit to The Merrywell for a quick lunch has us adding it to the list. Not being a big meat eater I wasnā€™t sure how Iā€™d go but there was just enough choice on the menu. On this occasion I couldnā€™t go passed the Falafel burger, with mushrooms, truffle oil, brie, and fries. While the mushrooms made it difficult to eat (donā€™t try this on a first date), the decadence of the melted brie will have me going back another day. I recommend adding some additional tomato as the patty was a bit dry, which can often happen with falafel.
Lamb Pickles
Ordered a fair bit for the last feast with a friend who was leaving for VN. We ordered NY sirloin steak, medium rare and the rib-eye steak, rare. These steaks were cooked perfectly and paired well with the jus that accompanied with the meal. <br/><br/>Additionally on the side, we ordered French fries and Caesar salad. <br/><br/>The only unfortunate thing that we had about the feast was the lava cake that was over cooked.
Spudsburgeradventures
A staple at Crown but unfortunately the burger was a bit of a disaster. Bun disintegrated not long after the photo, meat was supposed to be medium but was closer to well, onion jam tasted burnt. Service was ok (once we actually found a table) but it is the price that hurts the most. $26 for the standard burger is expensive plus $9 for an extra party is crazy, not to mention other add ons. So many much better and affordable burgers in Perth.
Joan Parami
Food was amazing and generous in serving size. I ordered the sirloin steak - which was cooked just the way i wanted (altho a little disappointed because i thought it came with chips but didnt). The food is quite pricey, $20-$40+, but is probably normal here in Aus. I liked the overall ambiance of this place, although it can get really noisy since everyone seems to be trying to talk loudly.
Aidan
Attended the merrywell in July of 2018. This restaurant presents a casual environment to enjoy good food and drinks. We ordered the rib platter for 2 and the barbeque wings. Both were delicious and reasonably priced for a place like this. The general flow of the restaurant is nice and the staff are welcoming.

Came here for a friendā€™s birthday on a Saturday night. We had a section to ourselves with tables and chairs. No table service and it took staff 1.5 hours to clear empty glasses and dishes from the tables. Food was tasty but overpriced for what you get (eg $30 for nachos).
Chris Harrey
Me and the wife have eaten here many times. The lollipop chicken is some of the best ive ever had it is truly amazing. The jerk chicken is to die for and the nachos are hearty and very well priced. It can get really busy in here but its worth it. Live music now and then and the casino is only a step away for some fun after dinner. Well worth the visit.
Dottore Vince
Visiting from Melbourne and needing some solid ready food? This is fine especially if you are staying at the Crown complex. Busy and noisy but you can be in and out having consumed their signature lamb sandwich in an hour.
Perth Foodie
šŸ” We ordered the Angus plus extras, Bao buns and Cokes. Very nice pub food, 20 min wait from ordering on a busy night but came out hot and fresh.<br/>šŸ·Bar at the venue, quite busy. We stuck to the restaurant side of the venue for most of the night.<br/>šŸ’µ On the expensive side of ā€œpub grubā€ when you start adding extras and sides, but we werenā€™t left disappointed.<br/>šŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø You go to a counter, order your food, get a number, food comes out. Thatā€™s about it. šŸ˜„<br/>šŸƒ Itā€™s a pub inside a casino. Thursday night. We circled the beer garden and inside tables three times before we could nab a table for two (inside). If you are looking for a quiet place for a conversation on date night this probably isnā€™t it. <br/>šŸ‘Øā€šŸ‘©ā€šŸ‘¦ā€šŸ‘¦ Not recommended for family dining.<br/>šŸš˜ Itā€™s the cass! Lots of parking but youā€™ll need to walk to the venue.<br/>šŸ‘šŸ» Great food, but the noise factor was a given and kinda killed it for me. I would definitely be back, but maybe aim for a different day or time.

Went on a very busy Saturday night, music was great, food was quite pricey, for two small entrees (Mac and cheese balls, sweet potato chips) and dessert was around $42 waited around 25 minutes for food which wasnā€™t too bad considering it was a busy Saturday night . The Mac and cheese balls did not have a lot of flavour, and the sā€™mores dessert wasnā€™t amazing but I still enjoyed the food , me and my friend ate all of it. Would definitely come back here. Unfortunately I didnā€™t have a meal so can only base my rating of entrees and dessert.

My friend did her sonā€™s first birthday here. As a guest I told her how disappointed I was. She paid good money to have a function here but the service was appalling. We couldnā€™t get any service. The party was from 12-3. The cups werenā€™t getting refilled nor were drinks. I did not get a chance to have 1 sip of water as there were no clean cups. My friends had the same issue. My niece was so dehydrated I had to take her home. We were hungry as the food came out very slowly. By 2.20pm I left and had 3 pieces of cocktail food. No chance of having a bit of cake as requests for plates werenā€™t responded to (waited half an hour). I would not recommend having a function here and apparently a lot of guests felt the same way. Oh and after all this they didnā€™t discount my friend for offering such a poor service for her function she planned hard for to make it the best day for her son! If you know the footy is on and thereā€™s a function put on appropriate level of staff...

Went here for Yukiā€™s bachelor night and had plenty of fun! Great atmosphere, professional staffs, and more importantly great line-ups of delicious share plates do they have there! I think the food is really their highlight there, I really enjoy almost everything we ordered from the wagyu mini beef burgers (soft juicy meat balanced with bbq grilled onion and cheddar), bbq pulled pork quesadilla, to their mac & cheese bites!<br/><br/>Expensive? Yes. Big and generous portion? No. Haha, but itā€™s Crown, you know how much you are going to spend even before you go there - you sort of pay for the prestige, the location, and the name.
Grumpy Diner
I see their judge awarded a lamb sandwich as ā€œbest steak sandwich ā€œ. Not convinced. My Wagyu Steak Sandwich was blade steak at best and full of gristle. The chef disagreed but then he didnā€™t have to eat it!!

I love this place I really do but the Eagles Chicken waffle burger leaves much to be desired. It does not compare to the May St Larder chicken waffle combo and I was left disappointed. We all didnā€™t eat the waffle ā€˜bunā€™ and instead filled up on the insides which were super tasty as were the chips. I love the Merrywell for partnering with AFL teams and supporting charities but please never make waffle buns again!
Kaitlyn Muirhead
Iā€™m going to start by saying itā€™s not bad but itā€™s not good, so we will say itā€™s mediocre. <br/><br/>The service was lacking, however that maybe due to the odd timing (around 3:00pm) we arrived, therefore there isnā€™t the dinner or lunch rush which warrants a decent amount of staff. However you would still expect the staff to be attentive to your needs. <br/><br/>I donā€™t know where to start with food. We have been here before therefore we have an expectation already set... it didnā€™t meet that. The vegetarian nachos where big, messy and flavourless. The amount of guacamole they put on top of the nachos rendered it inedible. The Mac and cheese bites have been way better, they where normally packed with flavour. <br/><br/>The only good thing I can say about this place is the atmosphere... the music and the decor keeps the trendy vibe alive.
Aidan "Avvinash" Louis
This restaurant is really to die for, the burgers here are mouth watering and delicious, good selection of menu and drinks that really satisfied my stomach. I took my family here who are visiting here from India, very yummy!!
Little Chef
Busy American themed restaurant/bar which is kid friendly too. <br/>Food was fast and well cooked went for the smoked steak sandwich which was good and very filling, onion rings were very salty. <br/>Wife had sirloin and it was great size and cooked as requested and a side of char green beans with Parmesan which were a stand out dish.

The Merrywell is really the place to be! We went there during a busy weekend period and had to put our names down for a table. We were advised it would be a 30-45 minute wait but to our surprise we got a table in 10 minutes!<br/><br/>Although the queue for ordering food was long, it wasnā€™t long for the food to come. We ordered quite a bit and was really really satisfied. The food quality was definitely a 8/10 for me. Drinks were good had a nice range of cocktails.<br/><br/>Overall experience was above average and I do recommend trying out everything on the food menu if you can.

Guys! Why on earth would u change the Memphis Bbq burger. I have had the replacement version 3 x now and it is horrible. Bun is so dry and inside is so dry. Used to be so delish and juicy with sauces oozing. Literally can't deal! Surely you're changing it back. Luckily We also had the Buffalo lollipop chicken to make the experience pleasant, but honestly this last time was the worst, most dry burger I have eaten. BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL!
Laura G
Went to Merrywell today and amazing wagyu beef sliders and onion rings were delicious. Beautiful set up and outside bar look gorgeous and will be back before our holiday ends.
Foodiedudie
Nice place, food is tasty but don't expect to come here for a cheap night out, $33 for a sirloin steak and that's just the steak they then ask $9 for a side of fries...... All I remember after that was pulling myself up of the floor and the chick at the counter asking me if I was alright haha šŸ˜‚ bit of highway robbery going on there people. Also the menu here on zomato is out of date alot of the menu items have changed.
Delilah O'Donoghue
The fish was average and the chips were cold but that is because I waited for everyone else's meal, but the mash potatoes is to die for and the BBQ lamb was AMAZING !! Definitely a good place to go with family too
MiTandean
If you are wanting a casual no fuss dude food and are in the crown area then this place will tick your boxes. A great place to chill when in crown with friends and you want to have a chat. They also make a pretty good lychee cocktail.
Rachael
Yummy fries, sweet desserts and alternative flavoured burgers... service was a bit slow otherwise merry well has a good atmosphere to catch up with some friends.
Caturday
We came a little earlier to get a table, this place fills up fast on the weekends. You may or may not get asked for ID before you can enter if you come at night. <br/><br/>We got the smokewich steak sandwich ($27), French fries with beef chilli and cheese ($15), and bbq pulled pork quesadillas ($22). We originally wanted to get the spinach empanadas but they werenā€™t available, no biggie. The smokewich is a wonderful mix of salty, fatty, sweet, tart, crunchy and meaty flavours. The accompanying onion rings were spot-on. Well done Merrywell. The French fries were crispy and the chilli on top was fantastic. My only gripe is that there were kidney beans in the chilli, but hey, thatā€™s a whole discussion by itself. A good dish, but mmm maybe not $15 good. The pulled pork quesadillas were ho hum. They were crispy, but a little too small for the price and the pulled pork kind of melded together into a meat paste. The accompanying salsa was fabulous. <br/><br/>This place has perfunctory service at best, they deliver your food and thatā€™s it. Takes a while to get the plates taken away (until they need the table), and we had to go get our own water and glasses. Itā€™s also a bit pricey for what you get with some dishes, but to be expected at the casino. <br/><br/>Having eaten here a few times in the past, I would recommend getting the grandma grecoā€™s chicken Parma (the spaghetti it comes with is delicious), the nachos (with chilli, not pulled pork), the lollipop wings, and the Mac and cheese bites to share. Iā€™m not terribly taken by the wagyu mini burgers as they tend to be very one note in flavour profile.
Ianchin74
To be honest, I canā€™t really complain about the food since I cannot reasonably expect the food from a casino gastro pub chain to be their best attribute. But unfortunately, the food did let them down. Fortunately the rest of the experience made up for it. Love the quirky up beat vibe.
Eric Mu
One of Crown's busy restaurant. As expensive as all the others, nice food, nice environment. Satisfied or not? Probably depends on how much you lost in the casino.
FreeEagle
Crown gave us $50 to spend here so we have decided to give this restaurant a try.Ā  We ordered Waygu mini-burger and Merrywell burger and they were quite good.Ā <br/><br/>Looking for improvement, they might want to give training to their staff at the cashier. One of the staff told us we can only choose medium rare or well done for our burgers (Can't choose medium), but then the staff at the cashier managed to put down medium cook in our order.
Jade Fox
We came for breakfast and it was really disappointing. The lady serving looked bored and we had to go find her to place our food order. People's food we're coming out before us and we've been waiting 30 minutes so far for food. I could understand if it was busy but there's only 2 other tables with people. <br/>I'm watching people walk about to the food service counter looking confused because there is no one there. <br/>Will not be returning. <br/>
Greenplategirl
The vegetarian nachos are huge & fully loaded with cheese, guac, beans, salsa.. everything but sour cream. Mac & cheese bites are always a winner, onion rings were great too. Sadly we had no room for dessert. The watermelon mocktail is delicious! Much prefer this place on a weekday lunch time but Saturday night we were glad to get a table :)
Armin Muminovic
An impromptu lunch turned into a good decision. We shared the bao and beef sliders with French fries. Thoroughly enjoyed all 3. Bao was juicy and chicken cooked nicely. Beef sliders were very flavoursome
Courtneygibbons
Have been here a few times and enjoy the food especially the koren baos which I can't go past, I've also had the fish and chips before and partner has had the burger can't fault the food cocktails and dessert is great to it is a bit loud in peak times which makes it hard to have a conversation but that is that atmosphere here
Ross
Good spot for Friday after work drinks. Sliders and other share plates are tasty but on the heavy and come out pretty quickly even on busy nights.
4 Bean Mix
Bookings are essential. It's very cramped too. The food portions are worth the money and the variety is pretty good too. Their veggie burger is the best veggie burger I've had at a restaurant so far. Great cocktails too, especially the lychee one. Very very disappointed with their deserts, don't even bother... we got the brownie and it was basically just cheap chocolate mousse in a freezing cold jar that had been sitting in the fridge the whole weekend. Hardly any chocolate chips and certainly no brownie. You're better off going to McDonalds downstairs for a McFlurry. Their service is also not the best except for the younger girl at the cash register taking the orders.
Bernardo Jacobi
Have the steak sandwich!!! OMG!!! It's soooo good! Grilled meat, bbq flavours, the sweetness of the onion relish...yum!!! Yes, is big and a little bit messy. I think along with chips it's enough for two unless you are a bit eater. Didn't want to drive so decided to try this place after staying so many times at the Crown. The place is a bit pricey but I think is well worth it. Service is good and fast and you feel a great vibe in the air as some prepare to try their luck at the casino. Staff was friendly and the place opens until late. Drinks are reasonably priced. I'm most definitely coming back and also will try the Melbourne branch.
Rikki Glen
Second visit and second time disappointed. Food is expensive and poor quality. The beef sliders were the best of the bad; stodgy rolls and not a lot of substance. Chicken "lollipops" were inedible; covered in a strange spicy sour sauce that didn't match, at all, with the watery blue cheese fondue sauce. The wedges were an abolute disgrace! Deep fried chunks of potato dripping with cheap tasting oil. We should have learned from our last visit where we returned a plate of fish and chips (because there was no fish in the slimy batter). We certainly won't be going back.
Eddoism
Came here for a late lunch on a sunday afternoon. It was still busy with people having drinks and chatting. We got a seat pretty quickly but there were quite a few tables which hadnt been cleared. At one point, a customer cleaned his own table and wiped it down with spray he found lying around. Not a good look for the restaurant considering its in the crown complex.<br/><br/>Food came out pretty quickly and the drinks weren't too difficult to get from the bar.<br/><br/>I got the merrywell angus burger. Very juicy and meat was very tender. I enjoyed mine very much. My wife ordered the smoked steak sandwich which admittedly was better than my burger. I'd happy to go back to have it again.<br/><br/>
El
Great for a pre-show meal. Food comes out very quick and is very filling. Although it doesn't say anywhere on the website, they take reservations (we saw many "reserved" signs. We got there at 5.15pm so got a table easily because l the families were just leaving after seeing the kids show. Having to go to 2 separate areas to order food and then drinks is a bit annoying but I guess it reduces traffic throughout the restaurant.<br/>Tried the Memphis BBQ Burger and Steak Sandwich and both were great. Messy, but good food. But $27 for each is a bit steep I think.
Fan Fan Fantastic
It is a great place to chit chat with your friends with fusion dishes and drinks. Better go on Friday or Saturday nights to have some drinks, atmosphere will be perfect. Lunch time or week days would be a bit overprice if only come for their food.
Carmen Wong
Pretty nice place to chill out and grab some drinks with your mates. The food's good, not great. Wouldn't say it's the best sirloin steak I've had. It was not as moist and tender as I was expecting it to be but the seasoning's pretty on point. Overall I wouldn't recommend coming if you're looking for really good, reasonably priced food.
Ben Law
Exactly what you'd expect. Tasty dude food. My advice is go with a few mates so you can try all the different dishes. Oh and their desserts are great too

I have to admit that I have a love / hate relationship with Crown.<br/><br/>It is a beautiful, well designed resort with entertainment and food and drink available 'round the clock, so far so good.<br/><br/>But it is also a vulgar shrine to greed, desperation and the worst of base instincts.<br/><br/>However, as I had Crown vouchers, I took my family to the Merrywell for dinner last Saturday.<br/>I was told on the phone earlier in the day that you cannot book tables "you just front up", Ā so we turned up (7:00pm) and were told that there is a wait list for the tables inside ?<br/>We were hungry so we found a table outside, under a heater (it was getting chilly). Ā This was acceptable, but the seat cushions on the benches were soaking wet underneath (I think it had last rained on the Thursday) and by the end of the meal my guests had wet pants.<br/><br/>The place was packed, two deep at the bar, but when I said "pretty busy tonight" I was told that it was Ā "actually not very busy, yet".<br/><br/>Drinks are ordered at the long bar and food from a counter, in the corner, after queuing up (cafeteria style).Ā <br/><br/>The food came very quickly and we had; Ribbies, Smokewich, Wagyu rump, Angus burger and duck fat fries. Ā The food was pretty good, Ā it's just that it felt a bit pre-prepared and "production line".<br/>In terms of value, for the quality, it is pretty expensive, $26 for a burger?!<br/>The service was good, the staff were friendly and helpful.<br/><br/>A word of warning, if you have high blood pressure or heart issues, you may want to dine elsewhere. The amount of fat and salt dumped into all the items of this "dude food / pub grub" menu is astonishing, I felt my arteries harden up with every mouthful and we were very thirsty when we got home.<br/><br/>After visiting the toilet, my wife made the comment of the night, with raised eyebrows; "there are some very, very drunk people in that bar!".
Rob
You can enter from outside the casino. Go to the counter to place your order. Service was unobtrusive and efficient. Meat dishes very nice, chips a bit greasy. Prices slightly above average.
Ash Jordan
Lots of tasty food on the menu here. Find it a bit odd that even when booking a table down in the centre of the restaurant you still need to go to the bar for drinks.
Lisa Ah
Honestly if this place wasn't so expensive I would dine here every week. I pretty much have loved and often crave everything I eat from here. Great atmosphere and a bonus that I can play a little blackjack after dinner.
Emma
Had the Le toastie and partner had smokewhich steak sandwich both was delicious! Both Had the the perfect amount of meat and and wasn't sloppie at all ! We Will definently go back and try other stuff on the menu .. lychee cocktail was also delicious :)
FoodDude
Ordered around 5 meals and all were ridiculously salty. It wasn't even good! They must do it to make you buy drinks.... terrible place! Will not come back.
Eat Up
Average pub foods with high price tag. We came here on a Saturday night and ordered ribbies to share and a steak frites. The food came out fast but they were not warm. Probably come here for a drink rather than a meal next time.
Dave Howie
Decided to man up and go the merrywell burger. My partner went the nachos. To be honest, i was expecting a bit more from the casino. The burger was quite large, however lacked a lot of flavour. Found that the sauce didn't really deliver, and there wasn't much in the way of salad either. As for the nachos, they were huge and had a good amount of pulled pork. There was plenty of sauce on the nachos, we ordered a side of sour cream which wasn't needed. Portion size was spot on, however we felt the quality was lacking.
Carla Schammer
I'm normally a huge fan of this place and not one to get frustrated but one thing I cannot handle is bad service for food considering the prices we pay in Perth! So brace yourselves...had really been looking forward to my pre show meal with mum but the experience was rotten from the get go. I was happy to wait in line for a table but not happy that 10 minutes had gone by with everyone behind me being attended to but no one asking me if I needed to be seated. Including the manager! Finally one waitress heads off to find a table. In the meantime another waiter says he had one for me but when we return to the table another couple are sitting there (that were after me) and instead of telling them to move goes off to find me another table. Initial waitress comes back and makes sure someone waited at my table so no one would take it. Bless her, she was the only good part about the visit. 30 minutes after ordering no food. Again understand it was busy but not happy those who ordered after me have already been served and eaten. Meal comes and fries instead of onion rings with my burger and no salad as they never wrote it with the order. No time to swap the fries or get the salad because I had 5 minutes to eat and leave for the show. No apologies either. Or offer for some cash back or vouchers on the house. Up your game!

Came on a Sunday before a musical at Crown and was very busy, but we managed to get a seat for two. Ordered a watermelon and lychee mojito mocktail, mac n cheese bites and fries. It was all delicious and came out relatively quickly considering how busy they were. My main qualm would be the price, so expensive for pub food!

Super salty chips. The empanadas where swimming in oil. My wife got sick after eating at this place.<br/>The food is too expensive for the poor quality. My advice is to avoid this place at all cost.

Merrywell will be the house of Jack Daniel's Barrel House from the 23rd of February until the 9th of April. During that time, they will serve special dishes inspired by Jack Daniel's whiskey. Tonight we had a chance to try some of the tasting plates prepared by Chef Ryan Ebbs that was matched to specific JD's whiskeys.

Undercooked chicken is a specialty on the menu here apparently. Absolutely crap. If you want a week off work then eat this. And also be assured there was a crap service to complement the crap food.

bad service, reasonable food, Ā a bit grubby, a bit overpriced<br/><br/>Price:Ā <br/><br/>I always see Merrywell being advertised, so I thought I Ā would visit.<br/><br/>A bit disappointed, it is more expensive than not as good as other restaurants at crown especially Ā Junction grill.<br/>Junction grill has better food, might as well go there. In stead of spending money on advertising, it would be better spent on improving various aspects of the restaurant.<br/><br/>Ambience:<br/>Tables were worn and overall a grubby feel for me.<br/><br/>Food:<br/>the food was ok, nothing special just a bit better than pub food<br/><br/>Service:<br/><br/>TERRRRRIBBBLLEEEEEE Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Ā <br/><br/>I arrived, no staff at the service desk. Sit down and ask staff what to do he says just sit down.<br/><br/>wait, wait then ask another staff member and told to order at the front seriously.<br/><br/>Then the staff are blaise, don't care like they are at home.<br/><br/>Ā I wanted medium rare meat, no that is too hard it either has to be rare or super well done. WHAT???<br/><br/>Then there was no ketchup, so i asked for ketchup. Sure i will get if for you.BUT wait it never arrived.<br/><br/>Then i had to ask again. The condiments were in bloody grubby plastic ketchup bottles, Yuck.<br/><br/>Disappointed, will not visit again.<br/>

Went for lunch over the new year break. The food was pretty good all round but the service was a bit hit and miss as it seems to me that they are understaffed in terms of wait staff. Ā The steak sandwhich was yummy and huge! Ā Actually all the servings were a very good size. I dont think you would leave hungry! Ā Seemed to be quite a few families in there as well, which is always a good sign.

Good for a Sunday Session!<br/>The food Ok but nothing special - standard pub food but its a great place to go for a few beers and have a laugh with your mates.

Try the steak sandwich it doesn't dissapoint. My only beef with this place is that you can't order food and drinks from the same spot and on a busy day or night you can wait in line to order food then you're 3 deep at the bar getting drinks.
Geoff Harratt
The food here is always good but the service is crap....lineup for 5 minutes to order food, then lineup again at the bar for 5 minutes for a drink

I recently returned from Melbourne a couple weeks ago and was introduced the delicious food served at the crown Merrywell. The Melbourne experience was fantastic. My taste buds were tantalised by the scrumptious burgers and the spectacular milkshakes they had on offer that my sister and I went back the next day. <br/>When I returned home to Perth I set up a girls night out and insisted that we dine at Merrywell at the casino as I was so impressed with the food they offered in Melbourne. I even went online to check that the menu was similar in content and was delighted to see that the exact same menu had downloaded for the Perth venue as in Melbourne. Upon arriving Friday night at Merrywell we were greeted with a completely foreign menu that was defunct and void of its original and delicious signature burger and milkshake dishes. Gone was the buttermilk buttered chicken burger - bird in hand )and the awesome banana and strawberry milkshakes and in its place was chicken schnitzel on spaghetti<br/> ( not my idea of an enjoyable $29 meal ) and a few other burgers that lacked the original flare. The burgers were even $10 more expensive then Melbourne's original menu and the original Perth menu had depicted. I spoke to the gentleman who took payment for the food who advised me that I was not the only disappointed patron that had visited Merrywell and voiced their thoughts about the summer menu change. The expectation that we would be able to order those awesome burger and shakes but instead were greeted with a less than palatable menu all because the chef had decided to change the menu. Sadly I found the menu choices at best mediocre ( except for the mac and cheese balls - they were delicious) and at worst totally disappointing as the best parts of the original menu had been stripped away and in its place was less than savoury alternatives As Merrywell was supposed to have a standardised menu, it was bitterly disappointing to discover that the signature items had been removed. Sadly it is a restaurant that I wouldn't recommend to anyone to eat at any time soon

I have had way too many bad experiences at the Merrywell. Today again was terrible service and food below average especially considering the price. Did not even finish my meal. The only hope I had left was their chocolate brownie which is my favourite thing on the menu and ordered it to find out that they no longer have marshmallows on it (after they previously stopped toasting them, they seem to have gotten rid of them completely). I know some people love it here but I have not had a decent meal in a long time. So disappointed. Will not be coming again.

Arrived and was told by the waitress that there was 2 minutes left of the breakfast menu or we could order from the lunch menu. Since there were only lunch menus at the tables we decided to order from the lunch menu. Got to the ordering counter and was told that we actually couldn't order anything from the lunch menu until 11am... so for the half an hour between 10.30am and 11am the only thing we could order is drinks. The waitress could've told us this before wasting our time, what a joke.

Food here is only just above average but priced way more than what it's worth so I wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for an amazing dining experience. I've only been here a couple of times, but $25 for a burger and a few onion rings is ridiculous and $23 for nachos ($3 more if you want guacamole or sour cream) is also ridiculous. Their serving of nachos is large compared to other places but definitely not worth $23-$26. They also don't give takeaway boxes, so if you can't finish your food, it's basically going to waste. I order lemon lime bitter everywhere I go and it's inconsistent here. When I went for the second time, my partner and I ordered a lemon lime bitter and a coke at the drinks bar and they were standard. We went back to get another glass of lemon lime bitter, and a different person made it this time and it was so diluted and didn't even put the lemon and lime pieces, I had to ask. Overall, I don't think The Merrywell is up there compared to other restaurants in Crown.

Just avoid Crown in general. Terrible food, shockingly meat headed security, not even worth a bite when drunk. I went there sober and I wished I wasn't.

Adequate but double check your order! The food is mostly average; edible but nothing to rave about. And the person at the till got three orders from our table wrong! All three orders and it was the same mistake! It was unbelievable. They replaced them with the correct one but the girl showed absolutely no remorse and gave no apology that she'd screwed up three times.

Large serves for breakfast in a nice and relaxed atmosphere. Dinner times can be very busy. The food is always very delicious. You need to go up to the counter to order, but then they bring the food to you. Staff there are very welcoming and attentive.

Came her for my partner birthday dinner as he loves there burgers. The merrywell burger was the best my partner has ever had and he's a burger lover . The Mac cheese cake out cold and tasted a little bitter as if the cheese sauce had curdeled we asked for it to be returned and when we received another one although hot the cheese sauce had the same bitter flavour, I had a ceasar salad it was nice but way too much Parmesan for me there was more Parmesan on the plate then anything else and it took away from the flavour of the chicken and test of the Salad. All in all stick to the burgers

Half empty for supper and served cold food. Expensive for basic food. Mac and cheese was a disappointment, soggy, no crunch or crust. Steak sandwich was limp and empty.

I tried to have breakfast at Merrywell, tried being the operative word. As directed by staff I took a menu, took a seat, and then left after being completely ignored for 15 minutes. The staff just wandered about taking amongst themselves, twiddling their thumbs, staring into space, not paying any attention of any sort to customers. It opens for breakfast at 7:00 am. I'm not sure when they bother to start work but it's not before eight.<br/><br/>Just hopeless.<br/><br/>Next test is a beer after work, where self service is more the order of the day.

Have been for breakfast (NY Bagel & eggs benedict, both great, bagel was standout) and a few times for lunch (wagyu sliders, tasty brioche mini buns with cheese, chipoltle style sauce and pickle - tasty). Good food if not overpriced, the way you order is a little frustrating but the meal from what I have experienced, makes up for it.
PerthfectBreakfast
Been here for breakfast a few times but it's not as good as their lunch/dinner options. Their breakfasts are huge though. I prefer the tater tots over home fries.<br/><br/>I honestly didn't think their award winning steak sandwich was that great. Give me their sliders anyway! I always order those. I've been here enough times to order my staples and they are: mini wagyu sliders, the merrywell chips, pierogis.<br/><br/>Not a fan of: mac n cheese bites and lollipop buffalo wings.

This place is good for big groups.. We wanted to catch up over drinks and nibbles so getting a one litre peach cocktail jug was an easy, delicious choice. Nibbles were good - Mac and cheese, baos, nachos, quesadillas especially the duck sloppy joes! It can get silly busy on the weekends which can take awhile when ordering drinks. Well priced for the kind of place it is and quality of food and drinks.

This place has definitely become a favourite for when I visit Perth. It has a good atmosphere, good food and service. Who could ask for more?

Big rich breakfast is great after a big night out. American diner style food. Eggs and hash browns hit the spot. They will make you a mixed fruit juice if you ask nicely.
