Went to Sofia's to celebrate my 50th birthday with 35+ family members.
We had originally booked one of the function menus and when we were told our people could choose one of three options that the restaurant chose, we clearly were dissappointed as it states that people could choose an option from Fish, Chicken or Veal section, thus we assumed our guests could choose. Misunderstanding and misrepresentation on the website. Putting this to the side, we then opted to get Garlic pizza, shared platters of calamari to start with then gave our guests the option to choose anything on the menu. Well, best decision we made. Everyone got what they wanted!!! There was not one person who left hungry or upset. The atmosphere was buzzing and loud. The service was exceptional. All our guests were served in a timely manner and no one complained. They even had so much left over to take home!!! Big servings and alot to choose on the menu.
The staff was very friendly, and most especially Natalie, who went above and beyond to ensure that I had a good time and not feel the need to worry about anything, which is a first for me. Thank you Rocco and Natalie for the great experience of having a hassle free birthday at your restaurant.

Great family restaurant!! Perfect for large family n friends gatherings . The playground for the kids is a bonus too.
The food servings are always so Generous fresh and tastes Amazing !! Love the quick service !!
The manager called Rocky always greets us with a handshake and a smile which makes Sofias a pleasure to dine at.
Very authentic Italian. Love it, you know your always going to get a great feed here.
My order through DoorDash was cancelled for no reason and Sofia's Burwood called me personally to let me know what was going on as well as offered a solution where they could deliver via their own drivers.
The order was actually cheaper ordering through Sofia's themselves as well and I got pleasantly surprised with some complimentary gelato from them!
Will definitely be ordering from them again through their own website! 100% recommend. Lady on the phone was super sweet, I regret not asking her name!
An oldie but a goodie this one! They have been around for ages and they are a lovely family restaurant and perfect for big groups.
We will usually order a few dishes to share amongst us and i really enjoyed the pasta trio where you get to select three different types of pasta along with the seafood platter which is an array of fried seafood
I used to frequent this restaurant twice or more weekly, the large spaghetti bolognese was amazing, often I would have enough to take home. I wish I still lived close. Really tasty food, good staff. Not fancy, but a great family option or casual dining option.
They’re known for their big party like portions and nothing is wrong with that. Can agree that quality may not be the best but for the price you pay, can’t complain too much. I ordered carbonara, supreme pizza and crumbled seafood and that’s what I got!
Servings in this restaurant are large.The pizza and pasta are amazing!Great to share with family or friends.Anyway,a nice place to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine.
I enjoy dining here as the staff are always friendly and very helpful. The meals are supersized and you’ll always have food for tomorrow! The kids have an opportunity to have a run around with the play area at the side of the restaurant. Always packed make sure you book, but they are generally able to seat you pretty quickly. Save some room for dessert!!
One of the most worth for money meal and restaurant I've ever tried for my entire life!!! You will feel full once you see the size and portion of the foods!!! They are not joking around with the size and portion of them foods. And the price I think I not need to mention again!!! Highly recommended for big eater!!!
Great family friendly restaurant with portions to literally feed a whole country. Sofias is great value for money and you also get pretty decent food out of it , I bet you that you will not leave here hungry or poor thats for sure
we heard that the head chef from camberwell has moved to this place...so i think its very comparable to our previous regular joint...didn't disappoint at all... large generous servings & also has a kids' playground so this will be our regular place in the eastern suburbs for simple Italian food :D
Omg this is the best food ever. I always try to go there when in Melbourne. In a great location and has a wide range on the menu. My favourite is the gelato 🍦 you ask for all the flavours and it comes out huge . That is my opinion on what to try but everything else is just as nice. Much much recommend to anyone.
This really was ideal for our family dinner. Casual with great service. Large servings, no one goes hungry here. A busy vibe with friendly energy. It's a mid range restaurant designed to services lot of diners. It meets it market well
very nice place to have calamari and pasta that the size was just good for 2 people. The house is big with full of guests inside. Desserts were very funcy with vary options. will definitely go for a brunch again.
Big restaurant and good for family and kids big serving portions and serve you quick. I've been to Sofia many times. I think food was not good quality as before. Service was ok because they're alway busy.
This family restaurant is one of the most spacious restaurants I've been to. After the first time I went there the staff remembered me and was extremely friendly which is always very delighting. The food quantity is never compromised! I always end up taking away most of my food because I can never finish it. Their chicken and mushroom risotto is honestly the best i have ever had and thanks to the quantity it lasts for 2 extra meals. For the price, Sofia's is a step ahead with the quantity which is always a win win!
Similar to la porchetta you have to judge these franchises on their own merit, however with that being said you know what you are expecting when you come to a sofias - big servings! This location is a prime example, service was good and food was plentiful with the quality you would expect. Great for the kids too.
Consistently huge huge serving, quick cheap Italian fix, don't forget to try the gelato, quantity over quality, more than you can chew on pal
Awasome italian dishes..portion size was huge but it is absolutely delicious and value for money,will come back for more to try different varieties of dishes...
Needless to say, portions are humongous! And the taste didn't disappoint! I love how the pizza is like a deep pan version with a crispy base and the risotto is moist and creamy. Also got the spaghetti marinara and guess what, 6 people couldn't finish the dishes cos there was just a bit too much! Totally value for $$$.
Great restaurant for family. Friendly staffs and pretty big portion means value for money. For taste, everything was fine. Bear in mind, there is not much different from entree and main in term of portion.
Went to Sofia Burwood yesterday, despite the place was full the service was great the food was so nice and tasty.
The portions were huge "great value for money"

As with most other chain restaurants, Sofia does not offer a premium dinning experience. But if you are after a casual and bustling dining atmosphere, big food portions, good taste, reasonable prices and ok service, Sofia is a reliable option.
We have been to the Camberwell branch several times and like the Steaks there. Just visited this one in Burwood, which is very similar, with the advantage of having ample parking spots of its own. Had chilli prawns which was very good, and large Mexican pizza which was alright. I would call it 'gigantic' though as 'large' is really an understatement!!
Great value for food, portion is huge, price reasonable as well. However, not everything on the menu is nice as the rest, pizzas are a tad too salty. Great for big groups
Big portion of food for sure. You can pretty much order 1 for 2 people to share which we do almost every time we are here. Better environment compared to the one in Camberwell I'd say. Decent price and taste is not bad either
This is the best for family and big group Italian dinners. The amount of pasta in one dish is hugeeee. I can barely finish half the dish when I'm hungry. Give me a buzz if there's better Italian for value than sofias. Always consistent!!
I love this place.
Of course it's not artisan food and the ambience is terrible but the sheer portions always provide a great experience.
The food they serve here is massive. The Parma can easily be shared with 3 people.
If you want a fun time with friends or family there are definitely worse places. Yolande

The original Sofia's in Camberwell has always been our family's favourite before everyone grew up and left home. This is the first time I visited the Burwood store, and the gentleman welcomed me was one of the three store managers who used to greet my family in Camberwell 15 years ago!
So happy to report that the Spaghetti Marinara and Spaghetti Carbonara were as tasty and generous in serving size as I remember. My friends also ordered a Sofia Special Pizza, which I have never had before. Absolutely delicious! I ate more than I should.
Everyone was so friendly and lovely in the store, the cooks even said hi when I walked by. I know my late father would love this store as much as the one in Camberwell. I certainly will take mum here next time.
Post note: I went back on Mother's Day for a reunion lunch. This time we had two pizza, one salad, one pasta, three coffees and two desserts for 6 adults and 2 kids. Every dish was absolutely delicious, generous in serving size and we had leftover! The tiramisu and sticky date pudding were to die for.

Great place to go with family, friends and sporting clubs. Food is generous and yummy. Pizza's and Pasta can't fault. What about the mountain of desert (gelato ice cream) I call it Mt Dandenong. Probably the best family eat in take away restaurant in the area.
The food was amazing and the portions are very large. Friendly staff and environment. Good place to go for small parties with family/friends. Would definitely go again :)

You know what, with so many negative comments, they must still do something right with so many people visiting them. 1/2 more point given for finding my kid's beanie. Food is quite delicious, decent sizes prawns and scallops. When you have kids and on a tight budget week, here is where you should go. Portions are good, service is not as good but with so many people, seems liked they are understaffed. We will still returned cos my kids enjoyed them and my hubby seems to think they are quite resonable on our pockets.
Sofia's standards have remained pretty consistent over the years. Large venue, quick service, cheap, massive portions and reasonably tasting food but not the highest quality. Pasta is literally a huge slab or carbohydrates with small bits of veg and meat. Everything is doused with cream and fat.
I personally like the chicken Caesar salad here - they grill the chicken to perfection and it's one of the best I've ever had. I ordered a small vegetarian risotto for $15 and it was enough for almost 3 meals. It tasted alright and I was happy with the non cream sauce and the amount of veg, however I was skeptical at times about how fresh the veges are.
Overall you know what to expect if you come here, it's not a place I come to often but it's definitely good for an affordable, filling meal for a large group of people.

Came here few days ago with my big bro and his friends. Hmmmm all good all good. I haven't taken lot of pics but mine. I regret to order this, cuz after few bites, I felt to creamy. But anyway, environment is good.
As always, huge servings and never fails to disappoint. Definitely not a restaurant for dates but absolutely perfect for family and friends. Pizza for takeaway is also a must. Huge in size and awesome in taste. Never fails to disappoint
Very cosy place to go for a beautifully cooked Italian dinner. We regularly come here for our birthday dinners and even the occasional lazy weeknight! Food is hearty and the portions are very generous, seriously. Wait staff are excellent and are happy to provide boxes to take home all the leftovers, which are more than enough for tomorrow's lunch. This family restaurant warms your heart and makes you feel part of the family.
Love the environment, big space, foods good and big serving.. we always coming back here and ordered the same foods.. but will try another foods next time.. and good customer service as well..

Everything was fine except their heater wasn’t working that night so we couldn’t enjoy the atmosphere much. Fried calamari and cheese cake are averagely good (and huge) just like another Sofia so no complain 👍
My family and I enjoyed our reunion at sofias. The food and value for money was outstanding in spite of the escalating inflation rates all over the world. Wish all business people were not so greedy and taking advantage of the financial crisis. Big thanks to cute Sari the waiter for managing our table of 10.

Have been coming here for special occasions for 20 years now. Such an authentic Italian Family Restaurant. Big serve. Fresh ingredients and the cakes are a plus!
Favourite Sofia’s due to extremely friendly staff. Delicious food. Extensive menu. Ambiance can be improved though to match Camberwell :)
