Review All People Chinese Restaurant - Burwood East

Kevin Nguyen
Contrary to what we read from others, we had an amazing experience when we had dinner recently. The food was really tasty and the portions were quite generous The staff were very nice even when they were running flat out An above average Chinese restaurant whatever that may mean to you :)

Quality local Chinese food. Well run large establishment who are always full. Best to book ahead. Their takeaways are a little variable but we think they are generally the best we have had, especially the Singapore noodles and beef with vegetables. Definitely worth trying this place out. Love the fresh fish tanks and the roast duck bar.

The food was fresh. Had Peking Duck, Pork Spare Ribs with Black Vinegar Sauce and the Tong Choy. The issue is firstly the service The staff do not speak English or Cantonese only Mandarin. So if you go there you better speak Mandarin. Secondly they charged me for rice when I never ordered it. Had 3 people so they me an extra $6.

I will not go here again! Our booking was for 6pm, there was only one waiter taking orders for the whole restaurant so our order wasn't taken until 7:30!!! The food was not fresh, I had a stomach ache after eating here! The crispy skin chicken was not crispy, the first piece of chicken I tried, smelt and tasted off, so I tried another piece it was the same. Had another dish with scallops, they also smelt and tasted off. Eat here at your own risk!!

A group of us went a while ago and we found the staff were rude. Not friendly at all. The dishes were overpriced and food was below average. Not a good look seeing one staff member walk through the restaurant with a live fish in a net from their tank. Do yourself a favour and give this place a miss.

Worst restaurant ever. First time I came, they had free soup which came first, after meals came the free red been sweet soup and fruits as desserts. Other times I came, they ignore all the free soup, sometimes if they were happy, they brought the sweet red been soup, no fruits, sometimes they were not happy, nothing. Today I order the Peking duck. I found out the ducks is the normal duck, not the real Peking duck type, 100% cheating. The soups were too salty and the fried rice was burn with bitter taste. I mentioned about the soup, the fat guy manager said: oh u mean the soup of the day, not free soup. Before I mentioned the soup of the day, then he pretended he didn't understand and said: oh it's not soup of the day, its free soup. It seems like all the words in his mouth so he can say anything he likes despite that those words are conflicted to each other. When I asked the free soup, the waitress said : at least you have ordered something first. The I said I order already. She pretended she didn't know and ran away and kept ignoring us. The point is I don't need that FREE too much, just I ate there many times and the way they changed and considered the customers are stupid and did;t give any clear explanation and even be so "faked and rude" to customers make me angry. End of the day, other tables also got free sweet soup, some got fruits but some tables that have 2 people got nothing. But one time I went in a group of 6, they were only 2 served the whole restaurant then also cut down all the free things , be so slow and messy, even made a lot of mistakes, just we didn't mind and didn't complain at all. Some of them are very rude. But the truth is they are cheating on the service is UNACCEPTABLE. NEVER COME BACK AND NEVER RECOMMEND TO ANYONE.

Ordered some roast pork to takeaway. Was burnt, overcooked and dry. The skin was not crispy but a bit soft. Ended up throwing some of it away. Stay clear of the roast pork. Maybe other dishes are better.

The Cantonese waiters and chefs were really nice, enthusiastic and friendly. The prices of foods weren't perfectly reasonable, but they were tasteful. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to the vegans and the grouped people who don't like oily food and heaps of meats.

I had for only $9.50 beef and tomato on rice from the lunch menu. Nice.
The beef was tender. The service was friendly. And quick.

The food was great. We ordered a Lobster tail set. The lobster tail came with noodles, which we loved it so much. We also ordered steam barramundi, which was smooth and tender. The set also came with 2 extra dishes. This set was worthwhile and was enough for 4 people to share. Will come again soon. 😊😊

Came here for dinner with a big group of 11. Lobster was so fresh, portions were super generous and and service from manager was friendly and warm. Highlight was definitely the lobster ginger noodles and seafood tofu, used to come here as a child and am pleased to see the food is still good after so many years!

If I could use profanity on this platform I would . Food is not fresh , taste is so so but walking away from a restaurant from food poisoning is never ok . Multiple people walking away with food poisoning is a disaster

This restaurant used to be decent but unfortunately it now offers very rude service with average quality food. Some staff are friendly but do not speak English at all which makes it very hard to communicate when you’re pointing at the dish you want but they cannot read English. The managers speak fluent English but are not professional or polite. We only come here for take away roast duck out of convenience. Will not dine in ever again.

It's ok for a Chinese feed! Not wow but edible. It brings back memories of the eateries that I used to go to when I was a student. Serving portion is quite decent and the lukewarm service that comes with it. Our waitress didn't speak English :/ but I could tell she was happy to help if I needed anything.

1st time experience: A standard Chinese restaurant where local Chinese eat. The food here is ok, however this time I came here the hygiene was sub par, as one of my friends found a grub in his vegetables and the chef simply got rid of the insect and then gave it back to him - not good service at all! Decor and facilities are quite basic.

2nd time: The staff were quite helpful this time and helped us for a birthday event. However, the men's toilets are leaking all across the toilet floor - a real safety and hygiene concern. Decor is still very run down. the restaurant was actually quite busy - I'm guessing most customers are regulars who come here for standard Chinese food.
I have raised my rating from 1 to 2 stars as I can see that the staff were genuinely trying to make the night a pleasant experience.
We had a CNY Banquet here last week for a family of 8 and were pretty satisfied. I mean against other Chinese restaurants, they are average at best. I really wanted to try their Peking duck but due to the volumes of people in the restaurant, they were not serving any non banquet menu items on that day. The food didn't taste overly hammered with MSG or different to any other dish I've had before. I would however say that their crispy chicken is one of the best I've had, as it isn't super dry and just flat, but juicy and tender and the skin bites with a crisp. Lobster noodles (not pictured) weren't bad at all but serving was small and the pork ribs were pretty yum.

Delicious food and service surprisingly good considering the confusion while booking. We found this place on Groupon the shredded Peking duck was amazing

My rating for this outlet tells it all. No need to add Salt, pepper, vinegar, soy sauce, oyster sauce and whatever to my comments here. Disappointed period.

Worst customer service you can ever see. Put 13 of us in 3 tables. Just because “too much trouble” to have a large table. With the same price, you can have anything in the area.
Diana Maggs
Very very very small servings. We have been having take away here for over 15 years - this is the worst so far. $60 for a half filled container of salt and pepper squid, sweet and sour pork - not even a full bag, and a very nice but expensive $28 eggplant dish. We will not be returning. Enough is enough - I'd rather have Indian food. It is better value.
Eat And Be Merry Crew
We had been previously impressed with their seafood omelette as it was substantial, as well as abundant with seafood. We were a bit disappointed this time around. It was still substantial but we thought it was a touch watery - perhaps to do with less filling so it was more eggy?
Harold Clark
The Peking Duck dinner promotion experience by this restaurant was a total fail. Attracting customers to never see them again.

The cooking was ignorant and unaccomplished. The decor is 1970s, authentic enough for rural China. Service was naive.

Truly a Kitchen Nightmare kind of story.

Fortunately the included wine was drinkable but presumably that came out of a bottle.
Winston Tan
Worst ever! We had the Peking duck and it was just horrible. Not sure if it was Peking duck or soggy cardboard in tissue wrap. 100% microwaved , you could tell because the cucumbers were soggy and it was steamy when served. Service was atrocious ! And the wrap was very soggy and floury. How could they market themselves as a “Chinese restaurant” and just degrades the culture and the title of Peking duck. Sadly I can’t put a negative rating number. The lowest I can go is 1. Which I could give for the environment.

Had my special lunch deal with friends. Pretty good and tasty dish-Fried Vermicelli with clam in Singapore Chilli style. Sweet and sour sauce pipi/clam nicely cooked in the special style. Love it so much and it is only cost me $9, highly recommend this.
Lisha Ye
Terrible service! Especially one of the staff is really rude to my friend, making me very embarrassed!
And food is not as expected as what we've been told~don't go there!Def not recommended!

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT? ITS A CHINESE RESTAURANT. 💁🏻
Although I waited nearly 45 minutes for the food and another 20 minutes just to get a table, I can definitely say it was worth every second. Could barely take any decent photos before my dining companions dug right into the food. It's your typical Chinese restaurant so don't expect service/great decor as well.
But in terms of the food, it was superb! The BBQ duck/pork was juicy and full of flavour, the coral trout fish fresh (straight outta tank) and was steamed to perfection with soya sauce and some spring onions, while the mixed vegetable dish was also very nice. All of the above for $139, plus free soup, fruits, and a desert at the end. Paid in cash so no surcharge. I'm kinda getting used to these chinese restaurants and their tax evading tactics so unlike other reviews, I was prepared what I was getting myself into. Had a Mandarin speaker on my table as well so that helped.
David Nguyen
Had to ask for wine glasses three times. They gave water glasses instead. When the waitress brought out the bowls of rice, her nails were in the rice. Pretty bad place.
Luvfood
Bought the Groupon 3 course Peking duck voucher, what can I say, it was just awful! The duck pieces were pre wrapped in the pancakes, it's obvious that they have simply microwaved it to heat it up as the cucumber inside has been cooked and has gone soggy, the duck pieces were barely warm, skin no longer crispy. Really does make you wonder how many days it's been sitting like that in the fridge for. However we did like the fried rice at the end, so it wasn't a complete waste of money. But we will definitely not go back for the Peking duck that's for sure.

Food is ok. Value wise, not the worst. Service is ok. But definitely in the nope zone as a mediocre but way overpriced Chinese restaurant. Sorry.com/notreally

I will never went there again. Dishes are expensive and in small quantities. The dished coming up in more than 30mins after ordered. I ordered roast duck and soy sauce chicken combination and they gave us roast pork and soy sauce chicken. I ordered pea seedlings and they gave us spinach. Their boss were yelling to me and saying that's what they had today. I had to eat and pay for what they cooked since I ordered six people set. They not refunding a dish in the set.

There surcharge for 4/6/8 people set were ripping. I ordered six people dinner set($388 when paying cash). I pay $60 more when paying by card regardless of saving account or cheque account. A more than 10% card surcharge is totally a ripping off.

There costumer service were extreme bad too. They only got about 5 waiters there and they are serving 60-70 peoples dine in. No wonder you can get a good service. Takes ages to get a cup of water.

STAY AWAY from this restaurant

Have been a few times, each time using the voucher for the "peking" duck. The duck is consistent - sadly not the service - thats a real hit and miss.

What we've gathered is that the more expensive surplus dishes you order, the better the service you get. As nice as the food may be, the rude "head" waiters make the meal unbearable. The last visit is the LAST.

We had ordered the yam pancakes for dessert - waited a good half hour for it. When it finally came out, our guests had started to eat it (in a rush to finally go home). We then realised that it was not the yam but red bean. We told the "head" waiter. Firstly he tried to argue that we had ordered the red bean. Politely we said no we didnt. Amazingly he then said there's no yam available, so we must have ordered the red bean. Pretty darn hard to argue with that logic?!?! And better yet, its too late because its half eaten already. There's RUDE and then there's this little guy who pushes the dishes...

Will miss the duck (because I dont even have to wrap it myself) but wont miss that rude service.
Cookielessvee
Came here with a groupon voucher which was a 3 course and choice of wine or soft drink. Yum cha style setting. First was a cabbage soup with duck, cabbage and tofu which was well made. Pre made Peking duck comes with duck, pickled cucumber and cucumber, surprisingly no spring onion. Nice flavour but the skin is a bit powdery. The last dish took a while to come out which were crispy noodles and fried rice which was flavoursome.

Never will I waste my time with this place. Made a booking and told sorry no booking made. Then he said it was ok and led us to the table. We let him know that We got a scoop on voucher, and this is when it become painful. He rolled his eyes and told us that we couldn't do it tonight, as he would have to prepare the duck in advance. We got up and left and he yelled out you don't want to eat raw duck. Blatantly rude!!!! I was extremely annoyed and mentioned that if I was paying for it I'm sure that it would be available. I realise that is a scooping promotion but if they are not interested in fulfilling it then don't do it. NEVER GOING TO THIS PLACE AGAIN!!

We went All People Chinese Restaurant last weekend for a family gathering, and the place was full! We ordered a live cod set meal, serving was huge! Taste alright, can't compare it with top notch Chinese restaurants in Melbourne but definitely good value. The place specialising roast goods, we did order roast duck (forgotten to take photo, soz>,

Delicious, generous and well presented Peking duck feast for 4 ppl. Conveniently located in Burwood near Woolies and their $8.80 weekday lunch is value for money and worth trying. Pics speaks louder than words, overall, good restaurant if you are willing to spend a bit more for Chinese Cuisine.
Caz Melb
Very spacious restaurant. Even on a Friday night it wasn't that busy. We had the coral trout banquet for 4 ppl, which includes steamed coral trout, select 2 dishes from a set list, steamed rice, with fruit and redbean soup to finish, all for $128. There were 5 of us, (3 adults and 2 kids), so we ordered a stir fried noodle to top of the 4 ppl banquet. Food was served not long after we placed our order. The salt n pepper pork ribs were ok, very oily. The seafood Japanese todo was nice, had lots of tofu which we all enjoyed. The fish was delicious and very fresh, and the noodles were good too. Not much service. Even though we had an extra dish, we didn't have any food left over, and none of us are big eaters. All dish portions are on the small side compare to other Chinese restaurants. Prices may seem ok, but given the quantity, it's probably on the expensive side. The good thing was, no corkage.

I cannot describe the meal as we were not fortunate enough to get to eat despite having booked a table for 8 three days ahead. On arrival there was no record of my booking which does not surprise me as they were totally off handed when I phoned up to book and did not ask for a phone number etc to go with the booking. I just expected that they were not busy and therefor didn't care if we turned up or not, but on arrival was told that they were booked out.

I wouldn't waste my time trying to book again. We were instantly accommodated at Gold Leaf restaurant just a main road block away and had a wonderful Birthday celebratory meal there. The bonus was it was BYO as well, which All People refuse.
Visited on 27/8/2016

This restaurant is expensive as price is quite high if dine in. Takeaway lunch option is cheaper. Roast duck was yummy. Don't really need to book as it is almost half empty.

We were here for a gathering. This is really a great Chinese Restaurant-large portion and all to a very high standard, reasonable price & friendly staff. Thank you and we will be back.
Coffee Boy
So much potential. Nice setting and good service which from my experience is sometimes lacking. Peking duck was better than average but the prices (even for simple dishes) is priced quite high.

We came here years ago and didn't like it, BUT we gave it another go probably 1-2yrs ago and it was great. I think they must have new owners from the first time we came (prob 15yrs ago). Anyway we now love it. We dine in and get take away and have not had a bad meal. I love their spring rolls not those frozen cylinders you get elsewhere they look to be hand made and taste great. The crab claws are huge and sooooo good. Each time we get one of our favorite dishes and try something new. Give them a go and make your own mind up rather than basing it on these old reviews. If we hadn't have gone to try again after all these years we would have missed out on good local food.
I Love Food
The worst ever chinese restaurant that we have been to. Purchased Groupon voucher for 2 peking ducks for 6 ppl. Booked at 6.30pm and arrived 6pm. Ducks already brought out at 6.05pm and PRE-WRAPPED. The duck pieces inside are soggy and not fresh at all. We felt very cheated - these are not Peking ducks, they at most are unfresh roast ducks and wrapped with thick pancakes. Worst ever experience. For my girls who love Peking ducks, for the first time, after only one bite, none of them want any more. Lodged complaint to Groupon that they should never have this restaurant deals anymore. Doesn't matter whether their other dishes are nice. The dodgy and cheating attitude put us off. We surely will never go back again.

Had dinner here tonight with my family members and was amazed by how delicious everything was... Definitely a must visit Chinese Restaurant, we booked in advance for the big family. One of my favourite dish was the Double boiled soups with black chicken. So delicious...
Alfred Be
A simple Seafood Fried Rice with Stuffed capsicum, eggplants, tofu with Black Bean Sauce, it makes our dinner full of satisfactions. Initially we thought the sauce was salty, but it was so fantastic and tasty. The black bean sauce was so nice until we finished the sauce as well. This is the best black bean sauce that I ever had in town.
Alfred Wang
The Restaurant isn't fancy at all, typical traditional Chinese Restaurant. Nevertheless, the food was great, we ordered a few dishes, one of my favourite dish was the crispy fried pork intestine, the dish itself doesn't look very well presented. But the taste was so tasty. Few recommendations on the wall menu-Golden scallop, XO fried PIPI also good. A must try Restaurant in Burwood.
JKGasMan
Promising Chinese restaurant with a good menu but let down by the high prices and small quantities. Being Chinese makes you immune to bad service in Chinese restaurants but not this one. Very slow to respond and were even sarcastic when we pointed out they made a mistake with our order.

Worst customer service received from this restaurant. Stay away people.
I got a Groupon for this restaurant to use. I rang twice after 11am in the morning to make a booking, both times no one answered, so I left a message to make a booking. Without hearing a confirmation, I sent an email, requesting to make a booking for 7pm. An email reply came back saying 7pm is unavailable, but 8:15pm is available. Upon arriving at the restaurant at 8pm, the manager advised he didn't have my booking, told us to come back tomorrow or get a refund. I told him I have a left a message in the morning and i have an email confirmation. He denied having a phone message and sending the email. I showed him the email, he said he didn't send it and and not from him. He took no responsibility, offer no apology, except to come back or get a refund. There were a few tables free at the time. We took a friend to restaurant, we had to find another restaurant late in the night.

This place is great to have the Peking Duck. The Peking Duck was done to perfection and the food is just great. Service is average. Plenty 3 hours parking available & we can shop for groceries after meal. Although with some recent reviewers here seem unhappy with their Peking Duck. But we were happy with the deal that we bought online. The roasted duck wrapped with pancake & onion with sauce is truly our favourite meals.
Nikki
Very unhappy with the service of this restaurant. Never been there to taste the food but tried to book over the phone. The waiter and manager had real bad attitude and were extremely rude and unprofessional. Horrific experience.
Qiuyu Hou
Won't come back again: treat coupon customer badly. Small portions of the food compared to normal dish, not worthy money, and very bad service
RT
Appalling service and average food. They are understaffed but also lack of attention and interest from staff will not see me back here. Used to be good under previous management. Waited for almost half hour for a dessert that would have taken less than 1 min to scoop out.
JimmyPopper
Wouldn't pay full price. Went with a 3 course Peking Duck Banquet coupon.

Unlike other reviews below ... was a genuine Peking Duck not roasted.

1st course of Duck soup was quite nice, 2nd course of Peking Duck was ordinary. Ordinary due to the fact that the wrappers were too flourery and stingy with the duck, cucumber & sauce. 3rd course of Duck noodle and Duck rice was OK

Happy with the price I paid for 4 people but wouldn't go back and pay full price
MR.MR.
Fake Peking duck. Bought a voucher stating Peking duck 3 course meal. One look At it and I was sure it was roast Duck. One bite confirmed it was roast duck. Completely false advertising. Another Chinese restaurant cutting corners.
Jason Loh
PEKING DUCK IT IS ?!?! IS NOT?!?!. I bought a groupon voucher for 4 people and was looking forward to a nice meal. Unfortunately NOT!! Peking Duck in fact looked like Roast Duck, tasted like Roast Duck and was Roast Duck. There's a big difference between the two types of ducks!!! The pancakes were thick as dough and wasn't worth wrapping around the duck. The place has down downhill since the change in management. AVOID at all cost with or without voucher as quantity supersedes quality.
Sazzaf18
Worst food ever!!!. I went to the all people Chinese restaurant today with my family. For starters we coudnt find the place- very hard to find and they gave us the wrong address!! The food was shocking and very oily. I had purchased a deal on groupon for peaking duck. Duck was pretty tough. Waiter was very noisy, throwing dishes into tub and resetting tables. All the plates were chipped and the glasses dirty!! Woudnt recommend this place to anyone and will not be going back to this restuarent.
Louisedaniel
Bought a Scoupon deal at this restaurant. This was the worst chinese food I have ever eaten. My party of four people all felt the same way. Never again....
Confessions Of A Little Piggy
All People does roasts extremely well. And hands down, one of the best Pi Pa ducks I have ever had. Extraordinarily crispy skin, juicy tender meat and served with hoisin sauce, this dish was AMAZING...
And The Secret Ingredient Is
We had the lobster banquet for 10 ppl. Spacious surrounds, ample parking, excellent value and dishes tasted great. The staff were very attentive. More importantly our family Canary Bird (the one that gets sick from breathing in street food) had no issues.
Filet-o-fish
Don't get groupon for this peking duck. Read the previous post about the peking duck don't waste your money!
Hendy383
Worst service ever!!!. Had the take away today. The service from a guy ( I think he is the manager there ) was the worst ever. Will not go back there again!!

Perfection On Our Plates. After reading various bad reviews for All People, however we still decided to go with my friend's strong recommendation. My partner and I were so impressed. The staff were attentive. The food was incredible. We had the Chef Suggestion dishes and spaced out the timing for each course was perfect and the wine were excellent. We really couldn't have asked for more. There is so much variety on the menu we were both actually torn for choice that we decided we would be back to try their set menu or maybe even the wonderful Chef Suggestion again! Would most certainly recommend it to everyone I know! Outstanding food and service!

Complete and utter garbage. Pretty sure this is the place food goes to die. On a positive note you won't find any bugs here because not even bugs can stomach this place.
Xin Tan
The worse meal from Groupon voucher we ever had. One male waiter has a real bad attitude, wouldn't even show us the menu. We didn't even eat the main meal. Lemon chicken was a joke. Just cover with batter oil. A really burnt oil taste to your mouth. If by using Groupon to attract customers, they have just lost two and everyone we tell. 0/10
Maria Le
Bad!. What a waste of time and money! Very disappointing even for a scoopon dinner! I will check urbanspoon every time I buy a deal! Starting with a grumpy waiter following by wine glass with lipstick stain on... Very disappointing dinner!!! I will never go there again!
Jane501
Jane.. Bad service!
Our dinner last night was absolutely ruin by the bad service from all of them. Peking duck deal was totally ripped off as no taste, no sauce, no filling. It took ages for the food to come to our table one dish after another dish but no steam rice to eat with them . What a joke! Never come back here again. Shame on you!
Higherplanes
SHAME SHAME SHAME SHAME SHAME. Unfortunately I have to agree with all the recent negative reviews. Pancakes were too thick and doughy, duck was a roast not what was advertised as a peking Duck and there was no sauce in the pancakes I.Had to ask for the sauce Further to this, we got the courses so quick it was as if they did not want us there They have valued this meal at $116 what a joke as you can get the same 3 course peking duck meal at Simon's peking duck just 10 min away for around $75 for a much better service and taste! Its not worth the discount scoopon voucher.
NB If i had paid $116 for this crap I would report them to the appropriate authorities,as I am sure selling this crap as food is false advertising as they definitely did not use the whole duck..
Stan
Terrible, rude service complimented by a recent increase in price. Please avoid.
Peter Fisher
Sorry, but need to add to the NEGATIVE list!. Yes, it was a SCOOPON. Yes, should have visited URBANSPOON prior !

It's all been stated in the previous reviews of late, but, just do not do it !

Your supposed Peking Duck is delivered to your table, pre-wrapped in very thick "Doughy" pancakes, thus you have no idea of what is actually inside.......No separate sauce, Cucumber or Spring Onion. The provided soup with no taste, has bits of what I hope was duck, but really not even small decent pieces, but just scraps.

I think Scoopon Restaurant "Trial and Errors" are fast becoming a thing of the past.

Once your order is delivered to the table, that is the last you see of any staff.
Not a huge problem, but I was given a Red Wine when I ordered White.

These people are just not there to provide a service which is anything like what it should be.

The few other great Peking Duck Restaurants in Melbourne, make this one an absolute joke!
Jeffrey
Feel so cheated!. 4 pax Scoopon deal - they clearly gave us roast duck instead of Peking Duck! And the wrap was so thick, left dry taste in the mouth after consuming. Terrible food, I'd get better value & a more satisfying meal buying Roast Duck from Springvale!
Lkyoong28
What a disappointment.. Went there last night with a Scoopon - Peking Duck deal. Total rip off. Not Peking Duck, just small pieces of roast duck in (thick) wraps with no cucumber and spring onions. Soup was luke warm and the noodle wasn't nice. $85 value as advertised, Must be kidding. What a waste of money even though the deal was for $39. Will never go back.
Suzy9
Good value with groupon voucher. Set menu A
Simple but tasty Australian-Chinese fare. Spring rolls nice, had generous fillings and were fried till crispy. Soups were large serves and also good. Main was small in size (beef with black beans) but when served with rice and aforementioned starters in our bellies, was more than enough. Pineapple and banana fritters were basic, but good. Waiter was kind and made sure all our needs were met. Chinese tea and soft drink were substituted for my glass of wine.
Overall a most pleasant dining option. Did not have any problems with the voucher. We left well fed and happy.
Jowey Lim
Came w scoopon for 2 ducks but it wasn't a Peking duck but a normal roast duck. We didn't get the wine as we were told the tea for 4 are the substitute for our 4 glasses of house wine.
Poor service especially the manager, very unprofessional and treated coupon users like a second class.
Will not return...
Ton_ng
Disgusting, rude, dishonest - scoopon deal not honoured. I have never ever written a restaurant review before however feel compelled to declare how appalled I am with the people who run this place.

I am bitterly disappointed after having had reasonable patronage over the last 5 years. I heard it changed hands so now patrons are subjected to outright rudeness and disrespectful behavior typical of outdated Hong Kong arrogance and condescending mentality.

Like many others we thought we'd try out the scoopon peking duck deal since we had ok duck there previously. Unfortunately (or fortunately for us based on other reviews) we never got to try it. After calling up days before to book a table and being told different things by different and same people, we called again the day before and confirmed a table only to be told on the day of the booking that it was no longer available. Everyone we spoke to were dismissive and ill-mannered and could not give a straight answer as to why after two repeat bookings the table was no longer available after scoopon was mentioned. The terms and conditions state that Fri Sat and Sun has limited availability so we booked early. We have now discovered that these T&Cs allow the restaurant to abuse the deal and lie to its customers without ever intending to honour the deal. Even Chinese people themselves are disgusted and won't put up with this crap attitude. It may work elsewhere but not in Australia. There are plenty of better restaurants around. Avoid these aweful bastards like the plague.
Hungry Hippo
Horrible restaurant with no integrity as they lied through their teeth about not being able to find our booking - twice?! It's clear they did not want us to use our Scoopon on a Sat night. How do you loose a booking again and again?! Truly disgusted with the manager's attitude and nothing good to say about them. They lost out in the end bc we ended up spending big at a different chinese restaurant.
Michaeld
Disgusting food; disgusting service.. Ok *disclaimer* we bought a coupon from Scoopon for their duck at $38 per duck.

We had the best duck just across the road (a place called Simon's Duck I think) which was at $55. That place was really good so we decided to try this place.

One sentence: crap service, crap food, The waiters here when I asked for takeaway boxes; they groaned at me. I HAD TO ASK THE SAME GUY TWICE AND HE DIDN'T BRING THE BOX (he was in a light-blue vest). Later, I saw him pouring a glass of wine and drinking it himself. Hello???? You're paid to work not stand there and do nothing. Also, no smiles, but rather a gloomy face as if I did something wrong - are you exploited by your bosses or something? Do you not get paid to work here? Why should I feel like sht for dining here?

The duck was dry. Little or no sauce. The wrap was too thick. Isn't peking duck supposed to be crispy? Why does this taste like microwaved food that I would expect from a $8 takeaway deal not a $76 takeaway deal? Also, we bought 2 DUCKS. THIS WAS CLEARLY NOT 2 DUCKS. DON'T LIE TO US. The shopping centre where this restaurant is located is dingy and hard to find. Would not dine here again if I was paid to do so. Would not touch this restaurant again - even with a 10 feet pole. CRAP.

After more than 7 years of patronage, our last visit this month for my dad's birthday will be our last. The change in ownership not only sees a decline in service but also the quality of food. Unfortunately, prices have been increased...maybe to combat the declining return clientele!

Whinging Poms. For a $39 dollar scoopon we received a bowl of duck broth, 12 pre wrapped duck pancakes and crispy noodles with duck gravy and two wines. We couldn't wait to try it out due to the bad reviews.
Soup is duck? stock with some onion and microscopic pieces of duck. Tasted fine.
Duck pancakes were standard duck pancakes served in most Chinese places. Tasted fresh.
Crispy noodles were nice and topped with a duck gravy over the top. The trick is to mix the dry noodles through the sauce to allow the dry noodles to soak up moisture so they don't taste undercooked. Interesting texture and tasty duck gravy. Also ordered fried baby abalone and BBQ pork with plum sauce - excellent.
Hong Kong bbq type restaurant catering to traditional cultural tastes.
Two waiters were serving about 60 customers and were kept busy and attentive enough. Hard to get their attention but by husband was successful at this.
Too many reviewers who are wannabe MASTERCHEF judges who grew up eating meat and 3 veg, expecting the world for $40.
False Advertising? The photos never match the food served!!!!!!!!!!!! You must live in Tecoma.

ps
Read review below about the guy who got locked in the toilet. So funny

Ridiculously priced and served. The dine-in dinner menu was way over priced like 16 bucks for a plain fried noodle with spring onions tasting like home made instant noodle. The staffs there handed over the bill to us before we finished our meal, considering it was really quiet that night, such "pay your bill asap" service is not acceptable.

The only positive food is their roasts. My tip is to order the roast and take your food home otherwise it will cost you heaps to dine in and it's not worth the money!

Worst deal Ever. The Peking whole duck deal was a crap deal. Pancakes had a bit of duck, but normal duck. The soup was tasteless had a single piece of duck skin. The noodle was partially cooked, only had duck skin on top. Quantity was measly. The service was lousy. When I complained we were ignored.
Will never go here again. I think scoopon should ensure organization like these are never included in the deals again.
If anyone is thinking of getting this deal PLEASE don't. You will regret it !!!!!!

Terrible! The scoop on offer is a joke! Don't bother!

Nice Peking duck. Before I bought the voucher from scoppon I been saw the review but I still really want to try. We go there with three people, they didn't ask us to pay anything extra, 12pcs pancake, soup is more than enough for three people and noodle, we only order one more dish for three of us to share. We are so happy at all. I really don't know what the other people thinking. $39 only what do you expect. I have been many restaurant in Melbourne all the Peking duck is roast duck wrap why you not complain to them or you never have Peking duck in Melbourne. I think we have to be fare to them. well done all people chinese restaurant, we will keep coming.

Should have read the reviews before I bought these vouchers from scopoon. Felt extremely ripped off as it wasn't a whole Peking duck being served! False advertisement! Will not be back again!

Rip Off - Peking Duck Scoopon. Came here with some friends with the Scoopon voucher. What a rip-off. It's NOT Peking Duck, it's more like a Roast Duck-wrap. They must think we have not tasted Peking Duck before. Feel really cheated by their Scoopon write up .... whole duck !!! You've got to be kidding. It's hardly half a duck!

After many years not being here I was excited after seeing the deal on scoopon and came for dinner. The Peking duck is pre rolled using roast duck pieces so is not a true Peking duck. Staff were very rude and to top things off I used their men's room and got stuck in the toilet for 5 minutes as their door was jammed! On of the workers came in and opened the door but we're not apologetic at all for the incident. Needless to say I won't be going back.

Would never come back. So we booked a scoopon voucher for peking duck at this restaurant last night. took the family there for a birthday.

customer service was very poor.
the waiter throws our food on the table and walks away.
gives us our dishes with no rice, so we waited awhile to get some service and our food was cold.
The most upsetting is that the western families/ couples were getting great service (wine pouring, fast service etc)..where as us asian family got no service, no one speaking to us, or even an eye contact.

food wasnt soo good, they said they have peking duck but it wasnt the real one.
it was roast duck wrapped in pancake.

my boyfriend ended up getting stuck in the toilet because the door was dodgy
definitely never coming back!
Yeah Yeah
I'm allergic to peanuts and ordered Mongolian Beef and had a reaction. Not sure if it's a stray peanut or peanut oil or something else, however I can't eat here again and would warn anyone wih allergies to ask them first however with not very good English from the staff I spoke I imagine it will be hard to get a straight answer.

Excellent service, Friendly waiters.
The restaurant was pretty quiet tonight, so the dishes were served relatively quick.

The wontons were crisp and the filling was very tasty.
The spring rolls were well done and also has tasty fillings.
Both looked nothing like the photos in the menu though... Which would have been nice! The springrolls in the menu looked like egg net springrolls, which was actually the reason I ordered them.

The Cantonese steak was well cooked and the sauce was good.
The golden chicken wasn't actually on the menu, but the waiter was able to ask the chefs to cook it for me.

I would highly recommend the golden chicken - spare ribs with salty egg seasoning. It's one of the reasons I came to this restaurant, and would visit again!

Sadly, our last meal. We've been buying take-away from this restaurant for as long as it's been open, but sadly tonight will probably be the last time. Although the new ownership has transformed the restaurant in terms of cleanliness and staff appearance and attentiveness, the prices have sky-rocketed, there were no free prawn crackers with the meal and simply we didn't like the food. The sweet and sour sauce was awful and the beef satay sauce water thin. Now looking for a new local Chinese. :-(

Big and Busy. We had a family group eat mid week in the evening. Restaurant is big and attracts a large Asian crowd.

Pros: Roomy, good menu, large meals, popular and with live seafood to pick.

Cons: Waiters not very attentive to us, BYO wine only, we were told we had to buy and not drink our own beer. The roast duck had run out on the night we were there and a mix up with our order and we were never offered tea.
My Kitchen Sucks...
An old restaurant but a good restaurant. Had been to this restaurant plenty of times already due to it's close proximity to Boxhill for Asian grocery shopping.

Again visited last Saturday for lunch and once again ALL PEOPLE did not disappoint.

To be honest may I say the food is now even better after a car smashed into their kitchen sometime ago??? New kitchen equipment perhaps???

The highlight of the lunch were the Roast Duck and Pork which are both juicy and tender without the gamy taste that many other Roast Restaurant has.

This showed that they are not buying old ducks and pigs which a lot of restaurant uses due to more meat but less taste.

The Pork and Thousand Year Duck Egg porridge is still fluffy as always and the Chinese Donut is crispy and yummy.

Rice Hotpot is steaming with flavor.

For hungry eaters whom like Roast items (I.e.: BBQ pork, Roast pork, Roast Duck, Soya sauce chicken etc.) you must give this restaurant a go!

You won't be disappointed.

Our church group had a farewell dinner for our pastor and we were not disappointed with the six dishes offered. Everyone enjoyed the meal and that is quite telling as the group is made up of different ages and cultural diversity

Getting worse. A recent dinner was one of the worst Chinese dinners I have ever eaten. Bought some take away the other day and it was even worse and very expensive.

Lots of People at All People. Every time I've been to this restaurant it's been packed and I'm pretty sure it's not for the traffic in the shopping district surrounding it.

These people are coming here for the food. I've tried many of the dishes, but the one that stands out the most for me is the crab noodle. It's not an uncommon dish in Chinese Restaurants, but All People do it better.
Silvia
Terrible and slow service. Lots of MSG.

Very good. I always order the standard fare of rice with side dishes - be they combination, lemon chicken etc.

They're always excellent. A little on the pricey side but the portions are more than adequate.

This is the place to buy your roast pork - siu yuk. They have other roast meats as well - duck, chicken and char siu. We got some (1 kg) for a party and everyone was raving about it.

I've had better food for less

Did a takeaway. Food is ok, service is non existent and oh so slow

Too much salt in everything. This Chinese restaurant mainly caters for Chinese people. The Chinese only menu has set menu for 4 6 or 8 people with fish, crab or lobster and a selection of dishes to choose from. Set price and good value. But it appears to have changed hands and the new chef imported from China. Welcome to salt city. The fish was best but the 3 other dishes were so heavily salted and MSG'd that we won't be back. The restaurant seems to have lost a lot of customers as it was only 60% full. Unusual for a friday evening. A pity as we regularly ate there with family.

Not Bad. Went for Chinese New Year's dinner (7 of us) yesterday. The atmosphere was not bad. Quite packed, so first impressions was good. A typical chinese restaurant setup with live seafood for you to order. We ordered quite a variety of dishes from meats, vegies, seafood to hor fun plus banana fritters and red bean pancake for desserts.

All the dishes were good, staffs were friendly and attentive when service is required. Overall experience - good.

Where is the initiative to serve. Quite disappointed actually. Food was ok but the services wasn't good. I don't feel like we are being looked after and some of them didn't even show initiative to serve. I know Chinese New Year is coming but you don't have to let all of your staff do the decorations and forget about the customers.
