Review The Choc Pot - Burwood

Miss Deliziosa
Sweet for the sweet! Great place for your dessert fix. Plenty of outdoor seating as opposed to indoor seats. Friendly & fast service & not too far from the train station & main strip of Burwood. Fantastic waffles & the signature choc pot was a great choice!

The chocolate soufflé is nice and warm, less crowded compare to the other branch in The Regent Place near Town Hall. This soufflé take around 15 minutes to prepare but mention by the staff beforehand. Here have other chocolate drinks and waffles to choose from in the menu.

I definitely enjoy a choc pot with tea anytime. The choc pot was delicious, chocolaty and yum, exactly what I wanted. Not too sweet and not too bitter, just perfect. Cured my chocolate craving 😂 The seating inside is a bit crammed, but they have a space outside too. My tea pot was cracked though, and I dont get why do shops use cracked and chipped crockery?! Just through them away and get new ones. Kind of sure they are a health concern.

Best waffle in Sydney! If you want to try two favours at once you can order half each, prefer the strawberry over marshmallow.

Nice desserts, and big volume. But a bit toooo sweat if we finished them all. It's a small but lovely place.
James Hutcheon
OH MY GOD! You want to go here such amazing food! Great way to finish the night!
Meghana Prabhu
This place serves one of the best waffles I have ever tasted. The staff is great as well.

Had a Milk Hot chocolate here. Barista was fantastic he made mine extra hot just how I like it.

When you think about hot chocolate, chockpot is one of the best in Burwood..

Very cute and open café near Burwood China Town. Food and drinks here are extremely decadent so probably best to share with some friends.

If you'd like to read more of my reviews, please check out my Zomato page and visit @cynthiaeats_ on Instagram for photos!

Yummy! There is a good place to have some sweet as dessert to hang out with your friends! Recommend to g with 1 or 2 people because of the small place! It’s tasty but a little bit sweet for me! 3 people ordered 3 meals and its cost $12 each person!
Charlotte
Nice place to have some desserts...!
But probably you can’t take a group of people to there... because the coffee shop is quite small ~ but good food....!
A terrific place to catch up with 2 or 3 friends together!
Christyli0922
It’s a excellent cafe and the desserts very good and the price is normal level, not really expensive. The environment is pretty good, you can chat with you friends in here. I will come back to enjoy other desserts next time😉

Came here for dessert on the weekend. It was quite busy but we were still able to grab seats inside. The atmosphere was quite cosy. We ordered the choc pot with vanilla ice cream and waffnut. They were nice but can get quite sweet and I found it to be a bit expensive.

Came here a couple times to try their desserts, had the strawberry waffle, peanut butter brownie and the choc pot. I have also tried their brownies that are on display. Their prices are alright, service is good and location is close to the station. The strawberry waffles were warm and soft and the chocolate they used wasn’t overly sweet. The strawberries were fresh and tasty! The choc pot was quite small, but very oozy. Basically like a choc lava cake. Their peanut butter brownie didn’t have a dominating peanut butter taste. The cream and icecream diffused the taste - which made it much more tastier with all the different textures. Their brownies are also pretty good! Abit dry! But if you heat it up and add icecream, its actually really good.

Pretty much a casual chill and hang out venue with classic cafe and desert treats. Whether it is for 2 people or a whole group, it is such a cozy store with all kinds of deserts. Especially the peanut butter brownie sundae and hot fudge sundae which is the best for winters.

What I think is the crews is not experience enough making their Dessert.
Nothing worse than very dense soufflé, that supposed to be light and airy and spit caramel sauce.
What I meant split is butter (which was clarified, already ) is sit on top layer, then the rest is sunk on the bottom of small ramekin like titanic.
Charmaine
A little dessert bar. We had the secret garden for dessert. A lovely mouse. Very enjoyable. The cappuccino was creamy and frothy. Thanks guys for a enjoyable dessert
@quattrogirl
I always enjoy the fresh desserts at Choc Pot Burwood. Delicious, fresh would recommend to you fussy dessert lovers to give it a try won't be disappointed!
Grace
Honeycrumb Waffnut : 😁 Great
Snickers Millshake : 😊 Good
Service : 😊 Good

I rated TCP a 3 this time only because I was quite disappointed when I leant they changed the menu. I was really craving that limited edition Banoffee Crepe. Nevertheless I tried the Honeycrumb Waffnut which was basically salted ice cream wedged between two waffles, more ice cream, an ice cream cone and a whole lot of saucy goodness. It was very fulfilling to have with the milkshake. The milkshake was good but it wasn’t great as there wasn’t anything fancy about it. Otherwise it’s a good place to grab dessert with friends.
Shirley
The desserts are delicious although the menu is a lot smaller than The Choc Pot in the CBD. Reasonable wait time for food and average service.
A Guide For Your Appetite
A Good Reward for a Late Desert Run

My wife and I felt like some sweets so we decided to drive to Burwood. I had never heard of "the Choc Pot" until a quick search on TripAdvisor.

I was surprised to have seen it booked out with the weather being so called.

We managed to get a table for 2 and ordered 2 coffee's and 2 deserts (you'll see from the photos). The size of the desert is great and the size of the desert does not lose it's quality. The chocolate is sweet and the fruits are fresh. In my opinion, I didn't think the menu was pricey. I am looking forward in going back again and taking my friends there again.

Highly recommended.

So chocolate-y!

But of course the comparisons against max brenner was made.

For the prices and portions, Max Brenner is much better.

It cost me $15 for a four piece s'more waffles with no ice cream.

$15 at Max Brenner I can get two filling waffles, ice cream, strawberries and bananas!

Of course menu wise, choc pot has a smaller yet more creative range. But not worth the price for what I got.

However the Red Velvet Hot Chocolate was so good! Definetly worth it 💖😁
Vanessa
Great place to come for a late night treat. We got the s'mores waffles - the marshmallow was perfectly crunchy on top and soft inside. It had just the right amount of chocolate so it wasn't overly sweet. Would order a scoop of ice cream with it next time 😊
Eatwithstephh
The choc pot was amazing! The food was delicious. So rich, perfect for a sweet tooth!
It lacked space to sit comfortably next to other tables which made it very noisy. But once the food came out it was unnoticeable!

Visited this cafe for the first time today. Had a bit of difficulty finding it (maybe because I'm not from the area). Inside seating area is kind of small but nicely decorated. Order their waffnut and coffee. Waffnut is delicious overall even though I think the rock salt ice cream could be a litttle bit more salty to balance the overall sweetness. Love their strong coffee (I didn't expect it to be that good).
Fat Boi
This is some good dessert. Way better than max brenner, don't even bother making the comparison. I'm a fiend for a good crepe and the crepes here are good. My girlfriend basically lives or chocolate lava desserts and she said hers was the best she's ever had so that's probably saying something.
Shubham Kedia
Just a 5 mins walk away from this station, it is a perfect place to go for a brunch. They have a unbelievable menu to choose from. Every item is oozing with chocolate, they have some fabulous waffles and a huge variety of hot chocolates available. I had the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate, Red Velvet Hot Chocolate and Waffles. I was a little disappointed with the service but everything else was perfect.
Lucianna Guo
Not bad at all for a chocolate treat! The cream on red velvet is so special~ we loved the crepe! It taste as good as it looks on the pic.. but calories.. lol dun wanna think about that now.
Nem
Tried the strawberry crepe on a Friday night after having a completely unsatisfactory dinner. The crepe itself was super crispy which is what stood out to me. It wasn't too sweet overall and had the right amount of cream/chocolate/strawberry ratio. Got their mango sencha tea as well which was really tasty. Also tried their dark hot chocolate some time ago, was very rich and tasted awesome! 😄
Stella
So much better than max brenner or Oliver brown. The quality is high and it's so rich. It's worth every penny. I would recommend to anyone. It's a very nice place to catch up with old friends here.
Isabella Eats
Food is made fresh to order and is scrumptious. Tea is boutique quality, coffee is average. This place is great when weather is good, but in cold weather I would recommend bringing a blanket for outside seating- especially on a busy Saturday night on a cold autumn night.
Amanda Nguyen
Really nice desserts here. The drinks are a bit too sugary for my tastebuds. The atmosphere is young and light. Would recommend for young teens etc
Sydneyguyrojoe
Choc pot is a little hidden in Burwood. Oliver Brown blocks it's view from the main road

It's a small place and expectations were low. My lychee drink was super sweet but manageable to drink. I was though impressed with "mr Souff" the chocolate was smooth and delicious,I rarely enjoyed it. Especially the little chocolate balls that's came with it.

The place though is small and the prices are expensive for the small portion sizes you get

Still it will satisfy your chocolate cravings!
Dora Chi
Rich-flavoured chocolate desserts and extreme sweetness. I personally do not like chocolate so much so I feel just good but my friend who has a huge sweet fever fell in love with the desserts immediately.
Mr & Mrs Bottomless Pitt
Another choc concept that works!

Sydney is spoiled with choice when it comes to late night choc desserts, but this place serves freshly baked larva pudding that you simply won't find elsewhere. Sipping the smores hot choc, you taste the sweetness from melted marsh mellows, smooth hot choc and a crunch choc flakes. It all just works so well together.

Of note, stick with their top sellers as the others really don't have the same choc haven experience.
Grace Lung
Wow how good was the green tea pannacotta latte? Doesn't look that special but the Pannacotta was rich and creamy... The lychee and coconut foam and pearls was refreshing! Absolutely loved it.

If only I lived in Sydney... Love the concept of good teas at a dessert place! Want to try the French Earl Grey pannacotta next time!

Lovely interior great for a date night :)
Eatwithmyfoodsafari
Called in for a mid-week treat. The menu includes brownies, crepes and waffles through to panna cotta and beverages including hot chocolate (of course) and tea. The S'mores waffles were freshly made and lovely and crunchy, just how I like it. Drizzled with chocolate and topped with toasted marshmallows with a side of vanilla bean ice cream, it hit the spot.

Would have given a higher rating if not for the average service where the staff generally seemed disinterested in taking our order. After a few failed attempts at trying to get someone's attention, we ordered at the counter. (If it was meant to be counter service only, it was not made known).
Grace Ng
Very small space but lots of option for dessert. Good at making all the chocolate collections. Waffle is very nice as well! Besides, they offer fruity and floral tea which is also a must have!
Freyjadirtha Nurdi
Just like any other choc pot to be honest..
The atmosphere was good, service was alright, not friendly people I must say. The red velvet latte was lovely and sweet!
RUBYISM
A million years on and I've finally tried this place out. The crowds have certainly died down since I tried to visit some year and a half ago. Didn't even need to wait for a table.

Ordered the green tea panna cotta and the peanut waffle.

The waffle looks big, but one person could easily finish it because it's not overly sweet or heavy. In fact, the waffle is beautifully fluffy with the slightest crunch. The panna cotta was a little stiff, but the flavours were lovely.

I can see why this place was so popular, and you can bet I'll be visiting again.
Princess Greedy Guts
This place has expanded given its popularity but I still like the original. The smell is so enticingvwhen you walk in. The upside down waffle with ice cream & cone on top is so cute & crunchy with generous amounts of ice cream but my favourite here is the crepes. Soft texture, not too thick encasing lots of cream, delicious filling of choice & drizzled with lashings of chocolate. Its the perfect treat or dessert, not so heavy & perfect with a hot chocolate.
Food.Adventurez
I ordered the signature Choc pot, it was so so good, that I can't even explain how good it is, the chocolate fondue is hot and it melts in your mouth also remember to order the vanilla bean ice cream and eat it together 😋
Rebecca Tay
If you have a chocolate craving, this is definitely the place to go. The signature chocolate fondant is deliciously gooey but it's unfortunate that ice-cream and strawberries aren't included (definitely at least get the ice-cream).
The chocolate brownie was harder than I was expecting it to be, something I would give a miss.
Nozaira Sultana
Not sure what the hype is all about. Very average. We tried their signature choc pot. A very big problem is the quality of the chocolate. I would rather prefer Max Brenner in comparison. I am confused as to how to describe the taste. It was bland. I reckon they should stop writing things like magic takes time and all that in the menu because the dessert will no way match the expectation. Didn't generate enough interest to give it one more chance and try their other options. Not coming back.
Olivia Yang
Ordered the waffle topped with strawberries and belgium chocolate. It was made to order and warm when served and the vanilla bean ice cream had good flavour. Customer service was pleasant.
Digestinator
I really felt like dessert sadly it didn't hit the spot. First of all over priced ice cream hard as a rock. The gluten free dessert was good but not amazing, the only nice part was the tea! Such a disappointment !!!!
Shreya Vaidya
I quite like this place and have been here a couple of times. The first time I went here I tried the green tea panna cotta which was quite interesting and different from a lot of other desserts I have tried before. The tiny balls filled with lychee sorbet were a delightful burst of flavour. I have also tried the waffles with salted caramel and the Secret garden. The waffles with salted caramel were absolutely divine without being overly sweet. The Secret garden was a bit of a disappointment, maybe because I had built it up in my head a bit too much. The dark chocolate layer in the dessert was quite dense rather than being light and airy which made it a bit of a challenge to finish. Overall, I would recommend this place for their interesting desserts.

Came here with my partner after dinner and we shared a chocolate waffle with ice cream (forgot what it's actually called in the store). We're not huge fans of sweet food, we prefer savory, but our waffles tasted pretty nice.

In terms of value for money, since we don't really go out for desserts, we think it's a bit pricey, as you could've gotten a lunch meal for the same price.

I would come back for more, but maybe once every few months when we're craving something sweet.
Dan
Came here for the second time to eat, ordered the choc pot and the strawberry crepe and they were AMAZING! Their home-made 'nutty choc' and whipped cream inside their crepe was delicious and the choc pot was so good, especially with ice cream. The staff was very informative, fun and vibrant and the service was great and showed that they obviously cared about their customers. Everything here was perfect - all that you could ask for.
Definitely won't be my last visit for a LONG time !
Olive Luna
Smell of waffle makes me hungry! We came here on Sunday night, there were few groups sitting outside and we got a table inside. Their tea selection is awesome! I had frenc Earl gray and it was beautiful. I wanna come back just for the tea. Desert was OK. Their browny is not gooey, it was like chocolate sponge cake. If it was goowy and sticky then it would be perfect !
Etudeofmemories
I was perhaps expecting too much?
Didn't really taste the crepes as they were unbelievably thin and the Chocolate they use don't seem to be rich enough for me... can't compare to max brenner :) ...
JMAC N CHEESE
It's always a nice feeling to see a local store doing so well against international competition. When I came in I was shocked to see so many people in the store on a quite Wednesday night! Was packed and rightly so; their treats are absolutely to die for. I had the waffles topped with strawberries and was absolutely delicious; I'll have to try the accompanying teas next time. Can't wait to stop by their cbd location.

My partner and his friends rave about this place but I'm sorry, it doesn't tickle my fancy. I find it quite average and they provide limited choices with a fixed menu.

Nevertheless, their desserts sure help when you require a sugar kick to keep you awake.

Great desert place. Hot chocolate was amazing. we sat outside, and nice place to have a chat with friends. Very high ceiling as well. Love the outfit. Great job

The Choc Pot is the a dessert eatery which hit the tastebud jackpot for me. I found Choc Pot randomly while I was looking around on Zomato. The Choc Pot is located near the train station in a small but well lit up location near Oliver Brown (right by their competition). It was busy as I entered on a Friday night and I saw groups of people eating fondue.
Ilovecakeandicecream
We came to this cafe from recommendations on Zomato. The coffees were great (my husband loves his coffee) and they have a big dessert menu. We shared a crepe with slices of strawberries and drizzled with nutella. It was delicious. I initially thought it was a large serving but it's because it had a lot of cream in the middle. Good to share. A little bit pricey and it's extra for a scoop of ice cream.
OneFatFoodie
If you want to splurge on dessert this is the place to go! Just walking in the smell of the place got me excited. We ordered the red velvet hot chocolate which was perfect, smooth and delicious. The salted caramel hot chocolate had great flavours but a little sweet for my liking... the Choc Pot signature dessert was phenomenal. Hot hooey chocolate lava. Definitely suggest the side of icecream to break up the strong thick chocolate taste. Worth a visit!
Helen Windyson
Very close place to train station. Environment classic. Very nice desert with Chocolate. Me and my friend love it very much. we will come next time.
Littlefoodie
Ive been here 5 times. My favourite is their strawberry waffle and hot green tea :). However the last time i went, they stopped giving out refills of hot water for the tea and theyve changed the teapot into a really weird device that doesnt pour the tea very well.

Would not recommend to get the crepe though - theres alot of whipped cream and the signature choc pot is very sweet so you definitely need tea to wash it down.

The caramel waffle was pretty good though! :)
Would go again but i really hope they change back their teapots and refill policy 😑
Amelia
We came to this place because we had a late night hankering for something chocolatey one weekend. We came here around 9-9:30pm or so. We managed to secure a table, however once we had placed our order it took a very long time for it to arrive.

The red velvet hot chocolate came out first, which was too sweet for my liking and not all that chocolatey, and had gone lukewarm by the time it came out. It was about another 20 minutes for our caramel waffles to come out. The waffle itself was nice, however the caramel was far too sweet. The ice cream was horrendous and full of ice crystals, it was as if someone had reused a scoop of ice-cream in a bowl that wasn't needed, and put it into the freezer still in the bowl and uncovered.
Nancy
I kind of wish I hadn't eaten dinner before I came here because I was quite full but nevertheless, had to give it a go. I just had a smaller version of the waffles with chocolate and strawberries as well as a white chocolate and strawberry smoothie. I didn't particularly like the smoothie, something wasn't quite right about the balance of flavours. However, I absolutely loved the waffles - probably some of the best I have had. The drizzled chocolate was just heaven. I would definitely love to return to try some of the more extravagant things on the menu.

Went this morning n not very busy that early. The staffs are friendly n the chocolate taste ok. however the mocha is a little bitters I think it's because of the coffee beans
62totheworld
It is very easy to find ,very close to the burwood train station.the chocolate pot is very yum, add ice cream is much better.the waffle is so good, but i suggested to add extra ice cream,if not it is too much nut...
Orange_tree
It's no surprise that The Choc Pot is pretty good at all things chocolate. The chocolate waffles and namesake Choc Pot were sinfully indulgent. The monthly special matcha panna cotta with lychee was less successful. It sounded great on paper but the texture was more like a hard, dense pudding instead of a smooth panna cotta. The lychee pearls added a textural contrast but the artificial flavour just didn't mesh with the matcha at all. Don't like their policy of charging $1 for tea refills (same for any cafe for that matter). Seems so petty, it's just hot water. During our visit, the staff were more interested in chatting among themselves than actually serving customers. My friend and I were straining to hear each other across the small table thanks to their loud conversations and laughing. Not a great place for a proper catchup.
YUXIPANDA
This place is awesome, the little choc pot was delicious! Perfect dessert place and located close to the station its definitely worth the visit if you're in the area! Ps the desserts here all made fresh so they're much better than OB or MB.
MVN
This has been our go to place for dessert. We always order the Waffle Slam with icecream and the peanut butter shake. The quality has been quite inconsistent. Some days the waffles will be light and crispy and delicious whilst others it would be dense and soft. The same can be said about the peanut butter shake. I think they have changed from using Mayvers peanut butter to Coles brand? However we still have not found a place that does waffles as good as this in Sydney (My Sweet Boutique comes very close)
Tracey
Can't fault this place! I've been here on two separate occasions and left feeling extremely satisfied (and a button of my jeans undone).

The first time I visited was back in 2013, where a friend and I ordered the strawberry field waffle with ice cream and the signature choc pot, with a side of strawberries. The choc pot was everything we had expected and more - the dark choc soufflé was sinfully rich, and the warm molten core was simply chocolate heaven! The field strawberry waffle was perfect, with the natural juiciness of the strawberries balancing the milk chocolate sauce on the waffle.

More recently, I was showing an interstate friend the joys of Sydney dessert cafes. And thus off we went to the Choc Pot. Again, I insisted on the strawberry field waffle while he chose the hot fudge brownie. And let me tell you - these desserts are made to be shared! The hot fudge brownie was brilliant, all chocolate and vanilla icecream topped with whipped cream and chocolate powder. Felt like ten cheat days in one, but hey. Treat yoself.

The Turkish Delight tea was aromatic, wasn't too sweet, and so lovely and light - it perfectly balanced out the richness of the desserts. The Cranky Pants Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate was delicious and not too thick, although we found that when it cooled down a bit, it tasted odd - not bad, just odd.

Ambience wise, there are always families or young people about. Would make a good date night idea, perhaps after movies and/or dinner or just a simple catch up with mates!

Overall, this is a highly recommended experience! The Choc Pot will not disappoint.

EDIT: also tried the lychee crusher, which was cool, sweet and refreshing, as well as the salted caramel milkshake, also yum! The red velvet cone was delicious, and the standout was the cream cheesecake(?) ice cream. Butterscotch caramel waffles were so delicious. GO GO GO!
DOWN2FEAST
If your a chocaholic fan, then this is the place to be.. I love how they "recommend" teas to go with the chocolate dishes on the menu, cod it definitely helps!. My favourite dish is the famous choc pot, because everything there is made F-R-E-S-H
Wendy Le
Delicious indulgent chocolate desserts! Of course it was overly rich and sweet so had to be shared. Must have signature chocolate soufflé! Icecream was extremely hard though but was a good palette cleanser
Sharon
YUM! I love this place! It's awesome to go as a group as you can try everything there! It makes the trip much more worth while. I definitely prefer The Choc Pot over Max Brenner or Oliver Brown. The dessert are much more creative and aren't just a lot of chocolate.
Karina Santoso
I went to choc pot on a cold rainy day. I had their signature menu, the choc pot and a hot chocolate. It warmed up and brightened my day in just an hour after being there. The atmosphere and everything makes me feel so comfortable sitting there. If you are a chocolate lover, it goes to ur must try list !
Ribena Singh
Best waffles I have ever had! Such a generous serving for a reasonable price. The iced coffee is also great. Atmosphere is pleasant, and the service is also good as the staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely worth trying when you're craving dessert!
Delaine Dcosta
After seeing pictures of their oozing chocolate, I had to visit this place. Although a bit away from the city, the trip was worth it.
We ordered The Choc Pot and Mr Souff from a number of tempering desserts on their menu. On the menu, it said that the preparation time was 10 minutes, so we waited patiently.
When our desserts arrived, I was impressed with the presentation. It looked just like the pictures that I'd seen. I loved The Choc Pot. It had a slightly hard top crust and you had to dig in for that soft gooey chocolate cake mix. Mr Souff was a chocolate soufflé where you had to pour in salted caramel. So tasty and unique and just what I needed to beat Sydney's cold weather.
The restaurant wasn't too crowded so we got out orders right on time.
Jennifer Seah
Pleasantly surprised at the quality of the desserts here. It's a cute little place, there's a good decently sized menu focusing on many things chocolstecrspeciallybthrir choc fondant in a pot, and their brownies. We started w some coffees and their loose leaf tea in which they had a whole page to choose from! Great touch. The snores waffles was a very decent portions and we were pretty happy with it although in hindsight some fruit added would've been better. Their chocolate sundae however was amazing, and this is because their brownie is probably the best I've had. Warm, fudgy with a crunchy chewy top smothered in chocolate sauce we mopped it all up.
Pop Culture Food
A welcomed chocolate restaurant addition.

Chocolate waffles and hot chocolates are all well and good, but green tea brownies and choc pots are just as amazing. It's these two items that keep me coming back to this place. It's a small cafe, but there are no lines (for now). Prices are more than reasonable and it's a great place to get your choco hit anytime of the year.
Judy Tu
As soon as you walk into the shop, you're hit with an aroma of chocolate. Service was good, food and drinks were great! Definitely coming here more often. Diabetes here I come! 😂
Ayu
I love the fudge brownie here. The caramel tastes so good. Yum! Definitely going back here for the chocolate cafe in burwood. Also like the hot chocolate here.
Facebook User
Love choc souffle n ice drinks. My recent fav dessert place in burwood. But they would better have less staffs as 3-4 staffs are busy talking themselves. When I sat on a table, it was still dirty but no one came to clean.
Debbie Bui
The Choc Pot is always my go to dessert and coffee place in Burwood! Their signature choc pot dessert is heaven in a little pot, while their desserts of the month delivers something a little different but always satisfying for the sweet tooth. I tried their French Earl Grey hot chocolate during my last visit and was not disappointed.
Brenda Cao
Yum!! The choc pot was hot, chocolatey and gooey in the centre. It was heaven in my mouth! The vanilla ice cream complimented the choc pot well. Would definitely come back here just for the choc pot!
Marissa Putri
Oh the waaait :( it took me almost 30 mins before I was able to indulge in their chocolate soufflé... I'm not sure if it took that long to warm-up a soufflé though.
Uauajek
Worst place ever waited for more than 40mins no apologies no customer service mind at all. Never evea want to go back
Ctlam
The Wait and the lack of service. Went to this little shop on Sunday. Tried the TCP hot chocolate and waffles there. My drink came after 5 minutes, but the wafflE's took another 35 minutes after that. Asked the staff how much longer it will take, but the female staff just ignored us. Service was almost non existant. Food taste was decent but nothing to tell friends about. Probably won't be back again.
Sash & Bites
The Choc Pot was a cute café that prides itself on the freshness and quality of its ingredients, the likes of which include jersey milk and Callebaut Belgian chocolate. What I loved about The Choc Pot was their amazing drink and tea selection, and that at the bottom of each item in the menu was a list of recommended teas.
Richardeamonpow
Below average. Just came back from The Choc Pot at Burwood. We were seated outside, not a very nice atmosphere. Windy, buses pulling up out the front and people walking past in their pyjamas. Ordered a white Belgian hot chocolate, which was delicious. Nice big mug enough for two people, really enjoyed it. I got the Ms Soule thing with salted caramel. For $12 it was very average. Tasted like the cheap chocolate cake mix you buy from coles, didn't even finish it. My girlfriend got a crepe - lord of the crepe or something. It was like $14 and was a average tasting crepe full of whipped cream and a total 1.5 strawberries cut up.

The desserts were overpriced and actually were not enjoyable. Will not be going back.
Phfat
All you need to know. If you're stuck on what to order, it's the choc pot. I'm salivating just thinking about it.
The rest of the menu items just don't compare.

It was one of those nights... I took my wife to smash burgers for dinner which meant we needed a dessert place to stop off at before we headed home and a quick Google recommended The Choc Pot as a well-rated dessert venue within proximity to where we were... The Choco Pot is located off the main road under a newly built building along the railway. Unfortunately, situated next door to them is the big chain Oliver Brown... but in saying that, this place held it's own. We struggled to find a seat as the turnover was a bit slow... it was great place for couples as the seating is quite limited. We ordered their Signature The Choc Pot, which is basically a eruptive lava of hot chocolate from a chocolate fondant, paired with some strawberries. It does take 10 minutes to create your order... We also ordered their Red Velvet Hot Chocolate which is made with creamy Jersey Milk, a mix of dark and milk Belgium melted chocolate and topped with cream cheese whipped cream... umm I do notice that we didn't get that in our order as pictured...not that we noticed it at the time... but at the time we did feel like something was missing... We loved their Signature, The Choc Pot.... it was made very well. Every bite was worth the wait... Unfortunately the Red Velvet Hot Chocolate wasn't as fantastic as something you'd get in Max Brenner... but on a plus side the serving was massive... If you're looking for a fantastic little cafe serving decent sweets without the noisy/super busy environment... then I'd highly suggest giving this place a try...
The Set Menu
Opened in 2013 by dessert aficionados Ash and Deej, this little diner sits beneath the monstrous and anachronistic towers just on the north side of the railway in Burwood. Shielded mostly from commotion of the station, there's indoor and outdoor seating enough for around 40 patrons, with glass windows allowing a view into the kitchen. There, chocolatey creations are prepared using the freshest of ingredients (as their slick website boasts), all with names quirky designed to entice and please.

Dessert run at The Choc Pot ... -- Desserts -- The Choc Pot ($12) Close up view of the chocolate oozing out. Definitely fixes the chocolate cravings for all the chocoholics out there!! Freshly made to order. The chocolate is quite smooth but slightly too sweet to my tasting. The cake is moist and warm. I wish the cake to chocolate sauce ratio was higher. I was literally drinking the chocolate sauce after the top layer of cake. The Splits ($15.50) Also freshly made to order with caramel sauce on the side. You have the choice to add a scoop of ice cream, which I did. The crepe was thin but slightly tough. Generous drizzle of chocolate sauce on top of the cream and banana filled crepe. Less sweet compared to the choc pot. Overall, we thought the desserts were average. Happy Wednesday!
Sugar Coat My Life
This has long been my favorite late night, go-to dessert place. I’ve only just managed to come around to writing a blog post about it…all thanks to the money shot at the end of this post! Well what can I say, this is truly chocolate heaven. Hands down best desserts in town for all the chocolate lovers out there. This cute little place is conveniently located next to Burwood station in the seemingly derelict apartment block surrounding it. The bright yellow chairs and ‘hipster’ lighting are beckoning you to come in, you just can’t resist. If you don’t live around Burwood, let me tell you this little baby, the molten choc pot is worth the trip. Oozy, gooey, warm and soft, it will make the coldest of winter days the warmest of nights. I know I’m making this sounds fanciful, but this is what good food does to a foodie,it takes you to another place. Chocolate mousse And drum roll please…for the piece de resistance… And on a separate visit, we tried their hot chocolates It looks delicious,

..this was a damn good mousse! A thick bottom layer of dark choc mousse fusing with the silky runny white choc mousse, sprinkles of little crunchy surprises all topped off with whipped cream & strawberries! *drools*...

#ThatsOneLuckyStrawberry Pinpointing that exact moment when you can say you’re in love is hard to find. For me it was when I was about 4. As a curious child, I was always going through the drawers and searching the pantry. One day on a quest to make as much mess as possible (sorry mum), I stumbled across a shiny aluminium foil bar wrapped in bright purple paper. Naturally, this shiny object grabbed my attention. Excitedly my chubby little hands ripped off the foil, revealing a strange looking brown bar. After a tentative whiff I did the only thing I could think of at the time. I put it in my mouth. Words can not describe the feelings of joy and elation at the delicious discovery I had made. Questions came flooding to my brain. What was it? Where did it come from? Where do I get more? A confusing time for me no doubt. However there was no confusion in how I felt. This is what they call "Love". I had found it and I was never letting it go. And this my dear readers is the day I found the love of my life, a love that has lasted through the ages (well 25 years to be exact): Chocolate. With this in mind you can imagine our excitement to be invited for a taste test of The Choc Pot's fantastic menu, particularly their newest 'Desert of the Month' Nestled in the busy heart of Burwood, The Choc Pot brings a fun and playful twist to classic dessert favourites. This red velvet brownie was so tasty. They were on display at the front counter and instead of simply giving this to us in a brown paper bag like most cafes, they actually heated it up, drizzled it with chocolate sauce and presented it beautifully on a plate for us. We were very impressed by the staff going this extra step!

If you’re in Burwood and looking for a sweet treat, the Choc Pot is a must! I really enjoyed my little taste of Summer in a Jar, and would definitely go back to try their caramel hot chocolate and some of the awesome waffles! A definite dessert haven in my neighborhood!

...I know I should be trying new desserts everytime I come here, but one I CANNOT go past is their Chocolate Souffle w/ Salted Caramel Sauce...

Chocolateria are my haven. It is a place where all my worries can be washed away momentarily by that spoonful of chocolate soothing my taste buds. Well, they do say that chocolate boosts feel-good hormones! After visiting on several occasions, The Choc Pot has become one of my favourite local chocolateria. I love this place because it ticks many of the boxes for me. The desserts – freshly baked. The chocolate – rich and smooth. Signature desserts – one of a kind. The store – cute and cosy. The Molten Choc Pot , their signature dessert, is one that you must try on the first visit. Think of a volcano.. The inside of the freshly baked chocolate fondant is warm, dense and gooey, and it is mixed with swirls of hot melted chocolate drizzling from the centre. A dessert similar to the fondant is the Choc Souffle with Salted Caramel , which I also really enjoyed being a salted caramel fan. The souffle was light and fluffy, and the salted caramel

Nothing beats chocolate on a cold and rainy day, it's one of the best ways to lift one's spirit. The salted caramel sauce went well with the sweet soufflé and before you know it you're already at the stage where you're scraping off the edges and licking your spoon wishing for more.

Calling out to all my chocolate lovers! Chocolate oasis is right near you! :P I've heard so much about The Choc Pot and I've definitely seen countless photos of their famous 'Choc Pot' on Instagram. Last month my uni friends and I were at my friend's place at Burwood eating hot pot (thumbs up for hot pot!) and afterward being a little pig I am, suggested we get dessert at The Choc Pot as I realised that my friend lives a few minutes away from it! Unfortunately everyone was way too full and I judged for being such a pig :P A few weeks later my friend ended up going and she told me it was the MOST amazing place she has been to and that I had to go! So once again my uni friends and I gathered together for dinner at Burwood and I was determined this time to go to The Choc Pot for dessert, throughout dinner I was reminded my friends not to each too much so we could eat more dessert (such a bad influence!). The Choc Pot is a small dessert cafe located off the main Burwood road. I actually di

Strawberry waffles, $16.50. Freshly made waffles topped with sliced strawberries and your choice of milk/dark chocolate. I had a food baby right after eating this, it looks small but it REALLY fills you up! The waffles are freshly made to order so they take absolutely forever especially when it gets a little busier, but they’re worth the wait! A little crispy on the edges and nice and firm on the inside. It’s topped off with a few strawberries and slathered with a heap load of dark bitter chocolate. It doesn’t look like a lot of chocolate, but there’s a massive crevice in the middle of the waffle and it’s all drenched in warm melted chocolate. I sort of regret eating the entire thing by myself because it was so very rich and filling that I could barely walk afterwards. It’s best to share with someone or get a half serve size. This place is fairly quiet as it’s tucked away in a small corner across from Burwood Plaza, the place doesn’t get too busy and they only had 1 person working betw

Our final nesting spot was The Choc Pot (7/1 Railway Parade, Burwood), a dessert hot spot for chocolate, waffles and everything in between. Josh studied Medicine with the owner apparently until he decided to drop out and open this choccy hub. I definitely see myself doing that one day with my degree ... sorry Mum and Dad. One day, BunnyBurgers will be serving everyone (except vegans, please stay at home) juicy, delicious, medium-rare beef burgers dripping with blood, sweat and tears (hopefully not literally). But for now guys, you're stuck with my exquisite sense of humour and nothing much else really ... I'll be flipping your burgers one day. First their signature molten choc pot, this was AMAZINGGGG! It came out steaming hot and the sight of the melted chocolate dripping down the side makes you just want to dig right into it. The texture was soft and moist and oozy and the good thing was the fondant itself wasn't overly sweet so it complimented well with the chocolate sauce. The hot fondant would have gone well with an ice cream but unfortunately that does not come with the dessert and you need to pay an extra $2.50 which would be a little expensive considering the price of the fondant is quite high. Nevertheless we thoroughly enjoyed it and did not miss the ice cream, definitely a must try!
