Review Royal Treasure Seafood Restaurant - Burwood

Angel Zhang
This is as good as Chinese restaurant food gets! I usually dine in Hurstville so that’s my palate of reference. I’m happy to say that all dishes were yummy 🤤 However, the cooked lobster could’ve used more oyster sauce as it was a bit bland. Also, the steamed oysters tasted a bit fishy, so perhaps a bit of Chinese wine would’ve fixed this. Hailing a waiter to take the order always takes a bit of time - but that’s to be expected on a Saturday night.

The food was great and the price was surprisingly not that expensive as to what I was expecting. The location of this place is very convenient and the ambiance is not that bad. The portion sizes are decent depending on the food item though. But the wait to get in is painful (We were 5 people and waited for nearly 45 minutes) so if you don't want to wait, gather 6 people or more cause only then you get to make a booking. Also, not a big fan of their service of going from table to table in this big room with food because it was really hard to get hold of a different item in the menu, there were few times where had to wait a while to get food in our table cause no one was coming to our table for us to get more food and by the time they arrived at our table with the food, it was warm.

Been here a few times, the food and service is always great. Reasonably priced too and easy access to parking when early. Private room options too with minimum spend. Free complimentary soup of the day that doesn’t taste salty or with lots of msg and fruit and cookies for dessert.

Only gave two stars because of the yummy dinner. Yum Cha is a no go . Fried noodles were heated up in the microwave, not crispy and very soggy. Steamed dumplings’ wrappings were thick and soggy, scallops and prawns fillings were salty and didn’t taste fresh. Deep fried prawn dishes were soft and warm. Service was fine and the dining environment was comfortable. Recommend dinners but for yum cha, definitely the worst food quality I’ve tried in Sydney so far.

Update, it’s our fourth time back and my whole family agrees this place has great food, serving size, quality, value, and atmosphere. Service is good for a Cantonese standard. Sometimes an exceptional 5 stars, sometimes an average 3.5 stars. We came on a Saturday and the food was average. However, we did give it another try on a Friday and the food was totally outstanding. When it was good, it was remarkably good, I did not take many photos as we were busy eating. On both occasions it was for yum cha. We ate as much as we could, 4 people, the bill came to $108; great value (when it is good).

Coming to this store to spend is really the worst decision I made today. The service attitude was very poor when ordering. Since there is still hair in the pork bun I ate. I called the waiter who brought us in at the counter. Since she ignored us. After three minutes of shouting, an old man with white hair and white shirt came to take away the pork bun I ordered. no say anything sorry! I'm really disappointed. This store is my first and last visit, and I will also tell my friends that this is a bad store. It's really garbage service.

Yumcha was awesome. Long queue but worth the wait. We were introduced by friends but we loved it. Delicious food and friendly staff quick great service.

Good tasting seafood and beef dishes. Vegetables was undercooked though unfortunately. Also, we were served our soup after we've already started eating our first dish. Would had been better if we were served the soup earlier as entree, but at least the soup was free...

I took my family here last night for dinner and the service was the best that I have had for a long time. The waiter and the server were totally awesome and professional. We ordered pipi's, lobster, fried rice and an assortment of appetisers... I could not fault the preparation of the food as it was amazingly delicious. The time frame that we waited for our food was incredibly quick. From the time we sat down to the time that our table was full of food, not even 20 minutes had passed... This is a resturaunt that I would not hesitate to recommend for anybody looking for an all around excellent cuisine to go to and enjoy the finest of seafoods. Thank you Alan and staff for a totally beautiful experience... Rick (Captain) and Family...

I have been to this restaurant 3 times a week ever since this place has opened. I am an extreme seafood eater. I have eaten at every seafood restaurant in sydney. Royal Treasure seafood restaurant is by far the best out there. The service is great the food is beautiful and it has been consistent every time. I highly recommend this seafood restaurant.

This is one of the worst Chinese restaurant we have been too. And to note we are chinese, Food is below average, service is worst than you can imagine. We waited for almost 1.5 hours for our food, we had to change our own plates and bowl and clean too. We also had to pour own own hot water in our tea pot. Every time we ask the staff where our food is, We get rude replies that we are busy. This is suppose to be a service industry, but there were no service provided. Never again !!!!!

Okay I see the negative reviews for this restaurant and I can understand why people are complaining about the service. They need to bear in mind that this is a NOT a Chinese Restaurant that has been around a long time. They just opened in March. It is understandable that they don't have enough staff. Now it is June, I can tell you now the service is excellent. The staff are very attentive! And wow!!! The BEST Yum Cha I have ever had in Sydney so far. everything tasted fresh and the pastries so moist! And I can see some new interesting offerings you have never seen before! And because it is still celebrating their opening, you get 15% off your bill on weekdays and 10% on weekends. Also good to point out that the room feels spacious! unlike many Yum Cha Restaurants where they try to squeeze as many tables and chairs as they can! My family and I will be back!

I'm having dinner at the moment and the service is really poor, we waited for 20 mins for someone to take our order, and how come it takes so long just to get white boiled rice when we are half way through our dishes? On top of that; the dish portion sizes are smaller than standard. Yes flavour wise it's pretty good which is why I didn't give this place 1 star but the service is non existent! Apparently, you can't get the special priced dishes if you decide not to order it first go but want to add on some more dishes, they charge you the full price thats what the order guy told us... yes maybe you should put a disclaimer on your menus if that is the case. I was thinking of coming here again but perhaps i shouldn't and also warn my friends and family.

Having dinner here right now, food is pretty good, love the crab with black pepper butter sauce! Service is pretty good too. Highly recommend, good value for money with their seafood special.
Rachel Ullmann
Had dinner at your restaurant and I really enjoyed it. Every dish I thought tasted good especially the crab, will definitely come back again and recommend to friends!!!

The food was very good when it arrived ! The food trolley weren’t coming to our table as we were in the corner near entrance, we had to get up a few time to get the trolley to come over for food !
潘枳全
We went there for the Chinese New Year Eve dinner. The food was terrible. It was worse than take away food in any small town.
Ben Liu
Unbelievably no service. The Yum Cha trolleys kept pushing out the same food round after round. Waiting staff would ignore you and almost run away to focus only on table turn overs only. We put our hand up in the air for service for 5+ minutes with no one paying attention. What sort of Restaurant management is this? This is not even the busiest time either (2pm).
William Sin
Shit resturant, shit service, shit everything. Shit place, don't go.
Sunny Ce
Expensive and poor service. Also many of the fish in the fish tank are dead. So much for live fish.
Foodie Life
Long queue lines but one of the best yum cha places in Sydney. Sometimes the staff will take orders but again expect a while to get your dish.
Sometimes the dishes I like are not made.
Good place for yum cha when your not in a rush.
Would recommend and I would come back.
Jacky Li
Not value for money - the dishes served here from my experience. The steamed cod was not fresh, overcooked and dry. For the price you pay the food, especially seafood, it really needs to be quality, fresh, tasty. If I’m being nice this place might just tick the last one.
Jireh Mak
Very good yum cha in a new full-sized Chinese seafood restaurant. They have all the classic yum cha dishes. A plate of pippies was excellent and very reasonably priced. I'm not sure if that's a weekday special.

I went with a group of 7 from work at lunch on Friday and were seated right away. I'm not a chicken feet fan, but the lone afficianado at the table raved about them.

Other reviews mentioned about the cart ladies being grumpy, but they were courteous, albeit a little pushy.

Definitely will go back.
Kk007
Couldn’t love this place more! The food variety is great with lots of dim sums and they are all very nice too. Particularly the triples and tendons.
The food is not as oily or salty as other yum Cha places.

Staff in general are nice. Except for one manager who never smiles and pushes people to the door when they are preparing to close.
Hungriestsam - Samantha
Really solid yum cha place for large groups. Went as a group of 8 on Sunday and I'm so glad we made a booking because there were so many people waiting outside for a table. It was around $240 for 8 people which is fair. The food was so yummy, there were so many options and I would go back again 😊
Aaron Zhao
The place is getting worse and worse.
Bad foods, bad service. Especially the waitress are so rude for the whole time!
Never go to this place again
Don't waste money here!

Michelle
Service is amazing! The staff are attentive and although at times may seem abrupt, it's only because they want to ensure we enjoy the food and are very prompt with serving. Would visit again.

Thanks for the meal!

Had yum cha!

Decent food to be had here with excellent service despite the mother day rush. Particularly enjoyed the chicken feet with its salty black bean flavours.!

[4.5/5] Royal Treasure Seafood restaurant is located in the newly Emerald Square. The yumcha restaurant is clean and looks quite new, offering a lot of variety of dishes. I liked the deep-fried pumpkin shaped dim sum which is to resemble ham sui gok (deep-fried glutinous dumpling) and of course all the yumcha favourites were delicious and fresh. There is a discount on weekdays so if you’re not working on a weekday be sure to go!

We were also lucky enough to try their Winter dinner hot pot special which comprised of: lamb stew, herbal medicine with free range chicken and tooth fish with noodles. My favourite was actually the tooth fish with noodles as the fish was delicate and the broth had a nice depth of flavour.

Thanks for organising @sydneyfoodfeels and @royaltreasureburwood x @lotusmarketingpr for the invite.

Truly terrible experience! Ordered a fry vegetable was under cooked (almost raw) complain about it with staff been told: we are not used to it. Ordered a fish, which didn’t come at all. The staffs are extremely rude! Definitely not coming back again!

Ordered Lobster along with other dim sum dishes, cost $800. I'm pretty sure the cook ate some of our lobsters. Waiters/waitress seemed to have an annoying attitude towards you. They tend to only serve customers they know. They would say hi 'Dr....' or like hey boss. I'm never coming back.

Been to a few yum Chas in my time and this place is one of my favourites. Good variety of food and all dishes are tasty and flavoursome. Service is also quick

I’m so glad to find an amazing local yum cha! With endless dumpling choices, you’ll be spoilt for choice! Royal Treasure Burwood located on Level 2 of Emerald Square serves yumcha and seafood dishes! They also have hot pot options too! Food is fresh is delicious.

Thanks @sydneyfoodfeels and Royal Treasure for the invite!
Miss_foodie_au
Great yum cha venue that is popular with the locals. Has all the standard har gow, siu mai etc, as well as some dishes like the salty egg custard buns and desserts that I have not seen at other places. Service is good and I didn't have any issues ordering even though I don't speak Chinese.

Have been here for dinner too and their soups are good value. Have tried herbal chicken, toothfish & lamb stew.

Tip: it gets packed out after 11am, so try and go before then.
Hungry Diner
A beautiful venue in Burwood that offers an amazing yum cha experience and a great dinner menu including seasonal hotpot.

I’d highly recommend going twice, for the yum cha and come back with a group for their hot pots.

Really loved this place and the staff are so friendly too.

The staff were quite nice and the service could be improved. Good location amongst other restaurants. The parking in the precinct is quite small and is often packed, especially at night. Nice and clean bathrooms as well. Food could be improved, some dishes were quite bland. The banquet meals can be quite expensive but they are quite filling.
Sean Zhu
Terrible service and arrogant receptionist! Booked table online requesting next to windows. Staff messed up couldn't find booking just wanna put us next to entrance. Told her not acceptable she responded sacarstically with "Thank you!"
Ara
Consistently great quality food. This is our go to for large family dinners. Large variety and always fresh seafood. Every time we are here it is packed, whether it’s weekday yum cha or weekend dinner.

+3 standard starting points for food
+2 the highest quality dim sum around
5. Best. Yumcha. In. Sydney.

There! I said it. See below for an English/Chinese list of my favourites. (also helps me remember how to order what I like)

The deep fried stuff is super crispy, not a soggy surface to be found. The marinades are on point and the meat is cooked to exactly the way it should be. Dumplings and meatballs are juicy and the sweets are so good. In terms of “true to it’s origins” I think it really hits the mark.

The bad:
I didn’t deduct points for the things other reviews have mentioned (which are valid complaints) because I’m cantonese and having to yell and flap to flag down yumcha waitstaff to repeat your order is basically part of the culture. I don’t enjoy it either but I accept it because of that sweet sweet dimsum goodness.

If you value service then try pheonix (not as good food) or a yumcha spot in the city (much pricier)

As for the language barrier, I would recommend you remember a few of the standard types of dim sum you know you’ll want to eat. For a start:

糯米雞 sounds like “law mai gai”
Sticky rice and fillings usually include chicken, mushroom, preserved duck egg yolk wrapped in leaves.

蘿蔔糕 sounds like “lo bak go”
Savoury radish cakes

虾饺 sounds like “haa gaow”
Prawns dumplings

叉烧包 sounds like “char siu bao”
Sweet BBQ pork in a fluffy bun

鳳爪 sounds like “fung zhao”
Chicken feet, deep fried then softened in a sweet black bean sauce

肠粉 sounds like “cheung fun”
Beef or prawn wrapped in rice noodle rolls

排骨 sounds like “pai gwut”
Pork ribs in black bean sauce

燒賣 sounds like “siu mai”
Pork mince in wonton parcels

馬來糕 sounds like “ma lai go”
Sweet steamed sponge cake. Eggy.

蛋撻 sounds like “dan tat”
Egg tarts.

Good spot for yum cha in Burwood, standard yum cha dishes, which were all good. Did lack a bit of variety but that could also be because of where we sat and Service wasn’t the greatest.
Gugu_Chailatte
We came here for yum cha at around 11:30am on Sat and the place was already very busy with a lot of big groups waiting for a table at the entrance. We were lucky they still had a corner table for 2 available. So we got seated straight away. We had the typical dim sums, pork ribs, siew mai, beef tripes etc, and a special scallop prawn dumpling. They were all delicious - the restaurant is generous with the seafood. The egg tarts were delicious too with a very crispy crust. Wouldn’t order the larva buns next time as the skin was a bit too thick.

The service was prompt and typical for a Cantonese restaurant. Minus one star for getting a table at the corner that most trolleys don’t reach. Ericson Chow

Recommended by one of our asian friend for yumcha. This is by far the best yum cha i have had in sydney. The variety this place offers in fried and steamed yum cha is amazing. Steamed Prawn and garlic chive and pork pastries is a must try.
We visited this restaurant on a busy saturday afternoon. After 15 mins of waiting we got a seat. The place was packed with people. The que never seemed to end.
I am reluctant to give a 5 star review due to poor service on weekends. Recommend to hire more servers to cater the big weekend crowd. We had to raise our hand and call out everytime to get served .

This restaurant is one of my favourite spots for Yum Cha as the food quality is very nice and price is affordable. The service is ok but not the best, which is expected from most Yum Cha restaurants. Definitely would recommend visiting here.

Came here on a busy weekend and waited around half an hour to be seated. Ordered a large range of food and overall it was tasty. Highlights were the shiu mai and pastries. The service was lacking a bit as we had to ask a few staff members to get the dish we were after and had to wait for tea refills.

2nd time here

Modern new restaurant
Food: decent quality. Slow to come out

Vibe; packed out for Tuesday lunch

Customer service: poor . No English they trolley lady just keep speaking Mandarin

Poor waited over 40mins for egg tarts and veggies rice wraps
Came here for yum cha on a weekday. We didn't have to wait but it was close to a full house. The steamed dumplings were pretty good, some of their deep fried dishes like the football and the dough in the rice noodle were fried too hard and difficult to eat. However the ruby shape fried dough were so fluffy and really addictive - would recommend! Finally a good local yum cha!

I was a bit reluctant when suggested to have dinner at this restaurant after having not so good experience of their yum cha. However, I was glad I was open to the idea and had dinner there.
Their dinner was excellent. Good variety of options. It is now our regular place for birthdays.
Joanna Luong
Absolutely love this place, been here for yumcha and dinner and the quality and service is excellent. Sometimes there’s a wait for a table but that just proves how popular it is.
Eatwithmyfoodsafari
We visited this restaurant as it was our dad’s birthday and his only request was it be a Chinese restaurant that served lobster! Situated within the newish development of Emerald Square, it is located on the upper level. We arrived and the restaurant was at capacity even on a Sunday night. Even throughout the night the tables were turned over and new customers were constantly seated. The service did not suffer at all and we were taken care of.

Our parents ordered off the menu. The highlights included the aforementioned Lobster dish which was served on a bed of noodles. This went down well with the table. The Shantung Chicken had the delicious vinegary sauce surrounding the crispy chicken.

Overall a lovely Chinese restaurant offering a more upscale dining experience within Burwood.

Came here on Easter Day for a family dinner, here are my thoughts
1. The service is top notch, waiters are polite and nothing was an issue, they even asked kids to be seated in a certain area as they dedicated a space for the delivery of the food
2. The food is great, there is discount on a variety of seafood. The highlight is the crispy chicken and stir fried milk
3. We brought in cake that we brought from a nearby Taiwanese shop and they were happy to let us eat it
4. We asked for a family picture and the waiter actually came back to take it, whereas other restaurants they totally forget, can’t be bothered or do it out of frustration cos your the customer

A very good experience and will definitely come back, be warned this place is super busy so bookings 1-2 weeks in advance is a must
Orange_tree
We had a solid yum cha at Royal Treasure. I liked the bouncy prawn har gau (crystal dumplings), the pork siew mai (pork dumplings) and the black sesame roll. Glad to see the trolley system is in use and the trolley ladies were super friendly which was unlike the cranky service at other yum cha joints 😂
The lines start forming at 11.30am on weekends so be prepared to wait at peak lunch hour.

Really good Cantonese style Chinese restaurant, high quality food. Excellent seafood selections which are really well cooked.

Hard to get a booking though

This is the first time I’ve been here and it was probably if not, one of the worst services I’ve ever encountered. We arrived around 2:00pm and the place was still packed, food was going around in trolleys. We sat down near the entrance area, a waitress comes by with a trolley, she did not greet us or tell mention what was in the trolley, when I stopped her to ask what do you have, she opened the top of each steamer in a very aggressive and rude way. I already felt under comfortable after this first instance. However, later on when I asked to order vegetarian noodles, this is the most ridiculous part.. the first waiter said he will bring the noodles to us. After around 10 minutes, I couldn’t find where he went so I asked another staff if we can order vegetarian noodles, she looked clueless and asked her manager to come and take this order for us which is fine.. and he said it won’t be long and he should bring it out to us. Another 5 minutes later, the first waiter came back and said the kitchen is closed and there’s no more noodles, if you want we can make it but it’ll take 20 minutes then I said okay we can wait 20 minutes. He looked shocked as if he expected us not to agree to wait the time... he spoke in very broken English which I couldn’t really understand, I encourage him to either speak in Cantonese or mandarin because I can understand both but he insisted to keep speaking in English, which is absolutely fine, he basically told me that they close soon and they’re not going to make the noodles anymore.. I was so very confused at this point, so what happened to the noodles taking 20minutes? I then said okay never mind we’re leaving. He then comes back 2 minutes later (I suspect he must of talked to the manager) he said if you want we can make it and it’ll take 20 minutes but if your happy to go that’s fine... by that point I was just so furious of this service and toying us around. I would not recommend coming to this place, even though the food was alright but the service is what matters most.

This was a chance discovery with my workmates. i knew i had to visit again with my gurlfriend Deepthi Vinod and this place didnt disappoint. Quick service. Good range of yummy yumcha dishes including desserts. Absolute value for money. Will definitely come again.
Weekendfoodescapes
Royal Treasure is a Yum Cha eatery located in Burwood. I absolutely am falling in love with Burwood when it comes to delicious and reasonably priced food. I head to Royal Treasure for a Sunday yum cha with Matt. Royal Treasure is located in Burwood nearby the bus station which is outside of the Westfield. I arrive at 10am when Royal Treasure opens on Sundays because I've walked past before where I've seen an EPIC line. It's also easier to get parking in Burwood so I think it was a good idea to get there earlier.
Snapshots Of Food
Wondering what to do on the weekend? The one thing that comes to our mind is catching up with family or friends over yum cha. We absolutely love yum cha! It's such a great way to enjoy a long brunch and they are generally more than happy to cater for you, so long as you are still ordering!. We usually have yum cha at Vinh Phat or Iron Chef in Cabramatta however, we decided to venture off to explore Burwood to a place called Royal Treasure Seafood Restaurant. The name is definitely a mouthful, but as we soon found out it was a mouthful of flavour. We have heard from many that this yum cha spot was the place to try, so we couldn't resist.

Theres no long wait for the food and theres so much variety for how to cook the crab. The restaurant gets quite busy but the staff are very friendly. Because we had a large group we were able to book one of the VIP rooms. The room has a karaoke machine, which you can pick a range of songs or you can even watch a movie, which was good for the kids. Overall I would definitely go back, the service was good and the food quality was excellent.
Ken Mui
Came here few times, food is amazing! Service improved a lot since my last visit. IMO there are no better place for seafood or yum cha in the area.
Kerri
Decent enough Chinese food. Menu includes the typical options. Service is what you would expect at Chinese restaurant. They were quite busy but food came out quickly. A little too quickly. Usually when we order crab at Chinese restaurants it comes out first and there's a gap before everything else. This time, there wasn't and the rest of the dishes got cold whilst we were all still trying to eat crab.

Rating here is for Yum Cha as I have not dined here at night. The wait for a table is not too bad on a week day with a big seating area at the front to enable you to wait for your number to be called.

The food here is always fresh and has plenty of choice of your usual dim sum classics. They also have a number specialties that could be ordered like the beef and rice noodle rolls which is also excellent. The dim sum ladies are bi-lingual and come around often with their steaming hot baskets.
Justin Woo
I went here for Yum Cha, the dishes are quite varied but the taste is just average. Went when there was the 10% off, the colour of the char sui bun is quite odd as well. The rice paper is quite sticky as falls apart too when you pick it up with the chopsticks.
Jessica Zhang
Yumcha was ok but ala cart menu is terrible
The description name in the menu looked good but when they serve it, its very disappointing see what was actually served. They should provide menu with pictures instead.
The dimsim shuimai wasnt as nice as the other yumcha places. I think they were not fresh enough or something. However, I do recommend the barbeque pork rice noodles. Its actually quite decent than some of the other yumchas..
Btw dont pick the sharkfin soup... it was terrible.. I think they just mixed with some starch powder and soy sauce.. what a disappoint....

Royal Treasure seafood in Burwood is a relatively new dining space. Travel up the escalators and through the large doors and you will be met by the live seafood taking up temporary residence in the numerous fish tanks. After waiting a while at the check in point to be seated, we walked around the corner and were addressed by one of the waitresses. We are informed that yum cha is almost over, we had booked at 2pm (but it ends at 3), but thankfully we were seated.

The restaurant is a huge space with numerous cart drivers doing regular laps, selling their goodies like used car salesman, without too many pleasantries. The options were few as we were in late in the day. However, there were dumplings and they were tasty, opting for the har gow prawn dumplings as well as Pork and chives.

The pork buns are usually a go to, but were all gone and went with what was left, being the chicken buns, these were nice enough. We also enjoyed some greens in oyster sauce and salt and pepper calamari.

We were hanging for some mango pancakes and were a little disappointed as they didn't have them. This disappointment subsided when the egg custard tarts were in our mouth. These were very good, pastry nice and flakey.

An earlier visit at the start of service would be recommended. The food sampled was decent and the service efficient with plenty of space to cater for all.

Food is fresh and tasty deserve a 5. but the credit card payment process was most annoying, intimidating and felt the card security has been compromised.

Unbelievably rude staff! Came here for yum cha and they overcharged us with the bill. There was already attitude coming from the man at the counter and then he had the audacity to demand a tip!! He stated in Cantonese that we already have about $10 discount from the yum cha special they had on offer so we should give him some tips. Ridiculous!!

Yum Cha is my happy place. What could be better than sitting down and then immediately being presented with array of amazing traditional Hong Kong cuisine. Yum Cha is an ideal Sunday brunch for me and Royal Treasure Seafood Restaurant in Burwood was a delightful place to get my fix. The spacious dining room was abuzz with conversation when we arrived, and as we were seated, we were greeted by snappy waiters and waitresses pushing the trolleys of goodness, eager to feed us. And we were eager to eat.

We ordered all the usual favourites: sui mai (pork dumplings), prawn dumplings, spring rolls, rice noodle rolls, deep fried dumplings, calamari, Peking duck, veggies, desserts and more. Did we go overboard? Yes. Did we regret it? Absolutely not.

The food was great. It was everything good Yum Cha food should be and exceeded expectations at times too. The various dumpling dishes we received were all fresh and steaming hot, juicy when you bit into it, bursting full of flavour. It’s safe to say I have had my fair share of dumplings and buns in my food adventures, and the ones we sampled at Royal Treasure definitely measured up. One of my personal favourite Yum Cha dishes is beef “cheong fun” or rice noodle roll, which is beef wrapped in long strips of rice noodle and drenched in a sweet soy sauce. I could honestly spend a whole Yum Cha session feasting on just different varieties of cheong fun, so I was so glad when Royal Treasure’s version was delicious and super addictive. I’m also a big believer in ordering some steamed Chinese broccoli to balance out all the dumplings and deep fried goodies -- the Chinese broccoli we had were fresh and crunchy and served with a generous helping of tasty oyster sauce. It made getting our daily servings of veggies very easy.

Dessert was equally as fantastic. We got black sesame rolls, which was a first for me, but I’m glad we gave this more unusual item a try as it was beautiful. They were essentially rolls of black sesame jelly and wasn’t something I had really seen before but I will definitely be back for this. They had a soft, slightly chewy texture and the gorgeous sweet and nutty flavour of black sesame. We also opted for of course the classic egg tart -- one of the greatest food inventions in my opinions. Royal Treasure’s egg tarts came out warm, with buttery, flaky, melt-in-your-mouth pastry and impossibly creamy custard egg filling. They were divine and everything the perfect egg tart should be.

Royal Treasure is a wonderful Yum Cha destination. The food is beautiful and the staff are efficient and friendly. The restaurant is conveniently located near Burwood train station and is part of a brand new dining precinct in the area. The restaurant is bright and clean, and the atmosphere is a bit chaotic but isn’t that really a sign of good Yum Cha? Come here for lunch and try as much as you can as I truly enjoyed my experience at Royal Treasure.

Ok guys stop right here. Don't ever put ur foot into this Restaurant ever again. Btw u r wasting ur time reading this but at the same time it's worth it so u don't end up having a shit dinner experience. If u want to know what I mean, the service is complete bs. I can't even type anymore like I'm just so done so I advise u don't even

This place is only worth one visit. Been here twice (not my suggestion) and the food can be improved, as I've had better versions of them elsewhere. And watch out for the bill, they pretend to make a mistake and overcharge you if you don't pay attention.

And the fruit plate... what a joke. A table of 10 gets a few measly grapes.

Headed to the new Royal Treasure Seafood restaurant in Emerald Square for yumcha one morning. I was quite surprised with their low review as I found the service was good as well as the food. More variety of dimsum came out as the morning progresses. My fav was the fried rice roll with sesame and sweet sauce, BBQ puffs and black sesame balls. The sui Mai and fan guo though were not up to standard. I was also not very impressed with the host asking whether we intend to tip when I paid for the bill.
Royal Treasure is located in the new arcade next to Burwood Plaza called Emerald Square, which is beautifully built. The food was ok. None of the food particularly stood out. However, the biggest let down and the main reason why I will not be returning is due to their service. We had high expectations for this restaurant as their Facebook ratings were pretty high. Unfortunately, this expectation quickly declined due to the average food and most importantly, the extreme rudeness we had to encounter with the staff members. This could be seen when they served the plates of food; they did not say ‘excuse me’ or warn us there is food incoming. Instead, they just pushed through between two of my friends and slid the dishes onto the table. The attitude of the staff showed that they did not want to help the customers out.

At first the food came out pretty quickly, however one of our dishes were missing. We asked a few times about that particular dish, in which they said it will come soon. Afterwards, we asked again and the waitress said she could not follow it up with the chef. After waiting for approximately 45 minutes for the dish, when we have already finished all the other dishes was not necessary. We said if its not being made, then we will cancel it. However, the waitress said in an extremely impolite manner that we could not cancel it and we would have to speak to the manager if we wanted to. We said we would like to speak to the manager and then she just ignored us and walked away. Predictably, the manager never came. We waited for an extra ten minutes, after the incident between the waitress and our table. The worse thing was that they did not apologise for being extremely late with the final dish.

Lastly, we only asked another staff member to add one more dish from our initial order. The staff member came back with a rude attitude, saying ‘could you just tell us what you want all at once’. We only added one more thing, which is a totally normal thing to do when you are at a restaurant. This type of customer service is not acceptable. The staff needs to be trained in order for their customer service skills to be improved.

I definitely would not recommend this restaurant, as the service was extremely appalling. The food was average but the awful service and rude staff overshadows this, leading for the ratings to be lower than average.

Honestly, this restaurant was appalling. Yes, the food may have came quick but the serving system from a waitress was disrespectful. If u liked to be treated sh*tly, then yes come to this restaurant otherwise I don't recommend.

Food wasn't bad and came out quite quick.

But on the other hand, the customer service was terrible especially their waitress "Nana" we asked about our order and she went ahead and gave her name and said with attitude make a complaint if you like (we had no intention to make a complaint, we simply wanted to confirm our order). Another waiter with glasses had also said "could you just tell me what you want all at once because it is a hassle to get everything"
This attitude is definitely not acceptable for a customer service role in hospitality.
It was utterly disturbing because I was afraid they might spit in my food for revenge when there was no intention for complaint.

Yummy yum cha. But the menu is limited and some of the dishes the waiters take around is unfamiliar and few are bound to be bad choices (also staff not very fluent in English). Anyway I enjoyed having lunch here with my companion.

2019
My experience has changed. My dad likes this place and the yum cha is better here now and you will notice the
Size of the dumplings bigger than the other place in Burwood. I guess that’s why there is a line here. Dinner wise been here a few more times and it’s a lot better. This place is also a lot more cleaner than the other yum cha place,I’m converted now

2017 The Yum Cha and Dinner review for Royal Treasure Seafood

You know what I find stupid with finding Royal Treasure? There is only one escalator up and one down, both on the other end of the building from each other! The quickest way to get here is to run up the escalator that's going the wrong way! Otherwise you have to walk on the other side of the building to go up the elevator

Enough about getting there the yum Cha here is to standard but nothing stood out. Sum of the dumplings skin was really sticky, sticking to anything it touches including my plate

The range seemed to be slightly less that other places

The venue here is huge!

Dinner time, found the food to be average. No dishes stood out. And none I would re order in future apart from maybe the pork ribs with fried milk!

Service with the food was faster than expected but at the end we had to go ask for our dessert twice and it took ages for it too come out,I think they forgot about us

And there is a 3% credit card surcharge fee

But it's still busy on a Friday night but I believe it's due to the seafood specials

Overall though they are busy, Golden Globe is beats them both in Yum Cha and dinner in my mind

Great seafood and nice place for functions, my friend had their wedding their, happy with the night. Seafood was tasty and fresh.
Some time long queue for yum cha, but it's worth the wait

This Chinese restaurant opened recently in Burwood. It is probably one of the larger Chinese restaurants in the area and has a few private dining rooms with a minimum spend of $800. The interior is definitely an improvement from Golden Globe but they have a lot of catching up to do in terms of service. They are relatively under staffed and by an ageing, inexperienced group of staff. The dishes come way too slowly, one at a time and we would be waiting in between dishes because we've already finished the food. I've been twice but only because they had a seafood special. Food is average, there is room for improvement there too.
