These dumplings are delicious and very addictive. Fillings are full and juicy. I love the pan fried pork and chives dumplings. Love them.
Delicious, fresh, homemade style dumplings. The prices are good too. The prawn, cucumber and egg dumplings and prawn, black fungus and egg dumplings are so good! I wish their seafood dumpling menu was a little bigger though :)
Had a good experience. The staff are friendly and helpful. Guests are offered complimentary tea. Tried the fried dumplings. Half and half, the pork with Chinese cabbage and chicken with chives. They were all mixed in the plate. Honestly they didn't stand appart from taste and was really hard to say which one was which. But dn it's dumpling at the end of the day so enjoyed everybite.

Good place for dumplings.
Had limited things on menu but none the less good.
Try the spicy prawns.
Great value for money.
First post on Zom. Actually wanna 4.5 stars. Traditional Chinese dumplings! Taste good but it is a little expensive! Still good! OMG why need at least 140 words? Kidding me? This is just a feedback not an essay! Lol
Signage has changed from picture on Zomato but still good value for money restaurant. Order the small options when available and pig out on dumplings. Paying the extra $3 to have them fried is worth while to up your dumpling game.
Also liked the entree of Jelly fish salad.
Went here for a date night with my partner last Thursday. This is a nice little place with fresh food. They have hot tea in the flask on the table. Ordered fried lamb and chives dumplings, pork and picked cabbage steamed dumplings, rice with mince pork and picked egg, and veg stir fried noodles. They make fresh dumplings at the back which reflects in the taste. For us noodles were the highlight. Amazing flavor with right amount of chewiness and crunch of the vegetables in the noodles accentuating the flavor. Pork with rice was alright nothing that great but it was a good experience to try a new dish for us. I would recommend the place, the prices are just right with the quality and quantity of food you get. Need to point out that one need to ask for plates, cutlery and anything else you might need from the waiters. Overall a pleasant experience.
Love this place! My partner and I have been coming here for ages. We’re both mostly vegan, they have the best vego dumplings and a really good tofu seaweed cucumber salad that we always get. The shallot pancake is great too. Service is quick and we usually spend about $37 for both of us, cheap and tasty food
Pork noodles ($10.50) and one serving of half pork/eggplant and half lamb/chives fried dumplings ($15.50). Both dishes were hearty and filling. The dumplings are made in-house and watching the cute little ladies skilfully wrap them was the cutest thing ever. Would recommend if you're in the area and want something quick and cheap.
Round 2: pork mince small ($6), seasoned tofu ($7.50) and half n half dumplings. Everything was delicous! I loved the flavour of the tofu dish went well with rice.
Came here with my best friend after my boyfriend recommended this place. It is honestly an affordable dumpling place that sells yummy dumplings! They also have really good sauces to go with the dumplings. We ordered the pork dumplings and chicken! Theres a range you can choose from. The place also offers takeaway and i believe its cash only. Definitely a really good place go have good dumplings!
Surprisingly came here with a white friend who introduced me to this dumpling restuarant and I'm surprised at how good it is when its freshly handmade. You get given a set aroun 16 sets for almost less than $13 dollars. I'd said its worth hence why we ordered 2 dishes including noodles on top of that even though we werent satisfied enough with what we ordered.
Came here for the vegetarian dumplings and it was amazing :D Food was delicious AND cheap. My friend said she could eat it all day. Staff were very lovely as well :)
Absolutely delicious authentic hand made dumplings. I loved the chicken and chives one. Menu is extensive and offers all kinds of dumplings. We ordered four kinds of dumplings and their fillings were generous.
Great homemade dumplings but excessive surcharge. I bought 4 x 18pcs dumplings for $45 I was told to be charged $1 surcharge flat on all credit card(2.2%). Tried to talk them through they had no idea what I was talking about.
LOVE THIS PLACE.
Their dumplings are heavenly! With really great range, they have all these special fillings that you don't usually get in order dumplings places. Their entrees are really refreshing and delicious as well. And they're one of the cheapest option in Burwood, you'd be sooo full and satisfied eating here!
Such quick service here. We waited less than 5 minutes after ordering for our hot and sour soup to come out. It was nice, not as much vinegar/ sour flavour as I normally go for but good. Next was Taiwanese spiced pork with noodles. Pretty decent size for $10.50. Lots of flavour in pork, just enough pork/sauce to coat the noodles. Also had tofu with preserved egg which is a cold dish. Not a lot of flavour but refreshingly cool. Of course we ordered dumplings. Had the mixed 20. Price of menu is for steamed, $3 more for fried. Was quite fun having the mixed, like a lucky dip on what you are going to get. No complaints for any but some nicer and more interesting flavours than others. A no fuss, good value restaurant.
Service: 5/5
Food: 4.5/5
Located in Burwood, this Dumpling restaurant definitely lives up with its name "Sydney Dumpling King". Service was fast, waitress immediately gave us menus, hot tea and cutleries as soon as we sat down. We ordered pork and eggplant dumplings (my first time trying it) and it was amazing. Would have totally ordered 2 dishes of those dumplings.
There are a wide variety of different fillings for dumplings including vegetarian. Price totalled to $22.8, fairly cheap!
The wontons were good, not as mind blowingly great as the pork and eggplant dumplings.
Overall, very very satisfied and highly I recommend this place to all Sydney siders.
Fantastic! It's like traveling to China without the long flight! Yuuuuuuuuum! Everything I've eaten here is wonderful. Counting the days until my next visit - 6
Really good dumpling I've ever eaten in Australia. It's not like dumplings I ate at other Chinese restaurant. Most of them taste like southern stytle dumpling in China. But this restaurant cooks really good northern flavour dumpling like my grandma cooked.
The dumpling here is definitely not very northern Chinese style. They do not offer smash garlic/garlic mesh sauce, which means it is radicular(imagine if you go McDonald's ordering chicken nuggets and they tell you they don't serve sweet sour sauce ?). Beside this , everything is fine , quality food regarding the price , I will recommend this restaurant maybe revisit.
Why should you go here: Tasty pan fried dumplings! (My favourite is the pork and chives)
Food quality: Delicious!
Portion size: Be careful ordering! I eat with my eyes and sometimes I order too much! One plate and a side (I recommend the veggie pancake) is more than enough to share between two!
Customer service: Quick but not particularly warm
Dinning experience: They recently renovated with new leather seats which is nice, but it is still cramped.
Value for money: Very cheap, especially if you come in a big group!
We shared 6 plates of dumplings, 2 salad sides and 2 pancakes between 8 people! We were hungry!!!
BOMB.COM 💯 My bf is Chinese therefore particularly fussy when it comes to the food of his land. We regularly dine here for our semi-regular dumpling craving fix, which is a testament to how authentic and delicious they are because trust me when I say that fool is hard to impress. I don't feel the need to rate most restaurants, particularly Chinese dine-ins, based on their service standards hence 11/10 from me, but if you're into that sh*t > enjoying real authentic ethnic food then this might not be your ideal date night, but f*ck me up fam those dumplings are good
So I was on a date with a pretty cute girl.. her eyes was like gazing into a black hole which I could not escape from. It was frightening but magical shit.
So wanting I decided to try something different instead of your usual dumplings and tried this joint out. And here's my verdict:
Food quality: good
Service: good
Price: BLOODY FANTASTIC LADS!
I would highly suggest to take your first tinder dates etc to here if your wallet is doing it tough that week. It's so cheap! Those three dishes only cost $30, and I still have 9 dumplings to takeaway home to eat the next day lol
Showtime ✌🏼
A great place to come to for comfort food. The appetisers were very refreshing and enjoyable on a hot day. The boiled dumplings although not amazing in taste hit the right spots. The cold noodle was also enjoyable and well flavoured.
We happened to be in Burwood and we were looking for a quick meal fix, and we walked past this place and thought, why not?
I have always been a fan of Taiwanese food, and sadly there aren't too many authentic places in Sydney that have that particular flavour that I crave. This place was definitely up there in hitting that spot.
We ordered the Eggplant and Pork dumplings, and a small bowl of Mince Pork with Egg, which was surprised large for a small bowl. Both were absolutely delicious in my opinion, and I loved the Eggplant and Pork filling. The bill can down to $19.90 which was super affordable for two people. Definitely good for a cheap, fairly authentic Taiwanese taste and good dumplings.
The vegetarian dumplings are brilliant. We tried the fried noodles and the noodle soup as well but, next time, I would just stick to ordering tons of dumplings. PAN FRIED.
The dumplings are freshly handmade toward the back of the restaurant. Our dumplings took a while to come out - probably because everyone was ordering them.
The fillings tasted fresh and were a generous portion for the price.
I'd come again to try more dumplings.
I will keep it simple and short.. one of the best dumplings in this side of sydney... great service and did I mention it was a reasonable price.
I can't remember how I first discovered this place but now I try to come here every time I'm in the area because their dumplings are the best, in particular Vegetarian option #1!! For $11.50 you can get approx. 15 vegetarian dumplings (I didn't count but there were definitely more than 10, and to my understanding the meat dumplings are a different price) and whilst its a liiittle more expensive than places in Chinatown, the dumpling filling includes mushrooms and coriander which eliminate the risk of blandness. I wish I could go here every week!
Food: 9/10
Great, good tasting food. The omelette was pretty amazing.
Service: 7/10
Friendly staff who provided useful opinions when needed.
Price: 9/10
Cheap and tastes great, good to bring friends along.
After hearing so many good things about this place I decided to finally try it. I ordered the pork and chive dumplings and for a place with such a good reputation for their dumplings I didn't find them to be that great. The service was friendly and there is certainly a lot of dumpling variety to choose from. It is also great value for money compared to other places. I will most probably return here again to try some other dumpling filings.
For cheap and cheerful, you can't beat Sydney Dumpling King. There's a wide range of fillings to choose from, and steamed and pan fried are equally as delicious. Service is fast and friendly. Come here for a decent feed at great prices.
Excellent value. Get #1 vegetarian dumplings and you'll be off to a good start. Dinner for two for $23 for our typical order.
The service isn't fancy but I like the staff. who complains about decor and service when you're ordering $10 meals, seriously?!? It's quick, it's reliable, it's cheap, and you can buy frozen dumplings to cook at home. You can almost always get a seat straight away and served quickly. There are about 20 varieties of dumplings, so even better if you can go with a few people and sample a range.
A lovely casual restaurant - so many combinations of dumpling fillings you could imagine, and they were really yummy! Great value for money, compared with the other restaurants around. You can even mix two different types in the one dish (16 so 8 each type). There is unlimited free tea, which is always a bonus. We had the soy bean milk which was nice as well. The hot and sour soup was tasty and not too spicy. Overall, a fantastic no frills yummy value for money experience. Would definitely be going again!
Great selection of fillings for dumpling lovers. The skin of the dumplings are just right. Good selection of vegetarian options too. My favourite however is the fish and coriander steamed.
Their other Taiwanese specialty been the Beef noodle soup is superb. I always find it hard just ordering the small which is ample. Many other cold salad options too as well as wontons for those that want a lighter dumpling options again with many fillings to choose from. This place is well worth the short wait. Service is quick and efficient.
All about the dumplings. This is a small no frills restaurant with flasks of Chinese tea on the table and busy waitresses making sure everyone is looked after. The dumplings are great value - $10.90 - $15.90 for 15 (add $3 for fried) and I especially like that you can choose two different types if you want. We ordered the pork and chive and lamb and coriander, which were both excellent.
Dumplings are one of those things that I tend not to dine out for. Mainly because I can quite easily make it at home at a fraction of the cost. At $1 a pop they just don't seem worth it; especially when they are almost always served in a cramped Chinese takeout joint with no ambience and apathetic service.
So there I was, waiting in line outside 'Sydney Dumpling King' after much coercion from the other half. The menu for dumplings is extensive with a selection of cold starters and a few noodles/rice and wonton dishes. On our first trip, we ordered the fish and coriander as well as prawn with egg, chives and woodear mushrooms.
The fish and coriander was a clear winner for me from the get-go. The delicate fish was flaky and soft yet still held its texture and was complimented beautifully by the freshness of the coriander. Bf enjoyed the pungent flavours of the prawn dumplings, however I felt these were slightly oily. I'm also not a big fan of chives (especially that nasty after taste that lingers for hours). We also ordered a hot and sour soup which arrived towards the end of our meal but completely blew us away. It was flavoursome and jam packed with ingredients (even shreds of Peking duck meat!).
Second visit I tried the fish and corn, with the bf again ordering the prawns, chives and woodear. This time he was no longer a fan and refuted any suggestion that it was the same dish. The fish with corn was not a success either mainly due to the ratio of corn to fish, with the fish lost to both the taste and texture of the sweet corn. Again we opted for the hot and sour soup but what arrived was a far cry from its predecessor. This soup was starchy and had scant traces of mushrooms and tofu, which were reflected in the lack of flavour.
On our most recent visit, a friend joined our venture and we settled for the traditional pork and chives (pan fried), my favourite fish with coriander, hot and sour noodle soup (bf couldn't help himself but give it one last try) as well as some cold dishes and a Chinese pancake. The pancake was crisp and fluffy and a good starter to the night. Fish and coriander still a winner, but pork and chives unfortunately didn't hit the mark. Sadly the hot and sour soup was the same starchy mess with added noodles.
Would I ever go back for the soup? No, but the fish and coriander dumplings are definitely good. Takeaway frozen dumplings are the same price as dine-in but you receive 18 instead of 15. These babies travels well, are easy to boil and just as tasty!
Sometimes I find that the wife and I eat just because it's time to and not really because we're hungry. This was one of those cases and we find ourselves at Sydney Dumpling King in Burwood. After our last disappointing visit to Seabay we were hoping this place can redeem the dumpling reputation on the street.... and we were sure it would as we've been here before...
To start off my wife chose the Seasoned seaweed, cucumber, carrot, tofu and bean curd stick salad. *Sigh* Why oh why... I've never been a fan of these style dishes but I just go along with it... hoping it's a phase she is going through...
I on the other hand, like any normal Asian ordering an entree, went for the more typical and appealing Savoury Chinese shallot pancake. It came out piping hot... and tasted great. I've had better but this was still pretty decent... and I'm glad it was as well... especially since they hyped it up by labeling this as the only Chef's recommendation...
What you will find here is a fantastic range of dumplings... they even give you the choice of splitting a standard 15 piece dumpling plate into two flavours...which is a fantastic option as it allows their customer to sample a larger range of flavours. We took on that offer and chose Pork with Eggplant and Pork with prawns, egg and chives. The eggplant combination was a bit weird for me... and you can't really go wrong with pork and chives...
All in all it's a pretty decent dumpling joint... and best of all no long queues to wait in and it's close to home... definitely a place I'd revisit if I'm hankering for some dumplings.
The food isn't presented in the most appetising fashion, but don’t judge a book by its cover. The food here is pretty good and they give very generous portions. Just be careful because they do use quite a bit of msg in the food.
I have been wanting to try this place for a while. And yes, they do live up to their name. They have around 30 different varieties of dumplings to choose from. The most I have ever seen in any dumpling house. I must say, sometimes I wasn’t entirely convinced about the cleanliness of the establishment, but I guess you can put it down to a down-and-dirty, no-frilled eating house. The dumplings are everything you would expect. We choose: prawn, egg, chives and woodear mushrooms ($15) fish & corn (steamed)($12.5) pork & eggplant ($10 plus fried $2.5 extra) ($12.5) Prawn, egg, chives and woodear mushrooms ($15). The wood ear mushroom adds a nice crunch and texture and the prawn pieces are fresh and succulent. Next came the fish and corn. I was very surprised that the fish was still moist and tender and not at all overcooked. I was glad we got the steamed option. The fish is light, the sweetcorn has a juicy bite to i
We'll definitely be coming back here for those times when all you feel like are some dumplings and a quick lunch. Situated up on the quieter end of Burwood road, it doesn't experience the busyness that other eateries do, although it is quite popular with the locals. And why shouldn't it be? Sydney Dumpling King, your dumplings truly are royalty.
Confessions Of A Glutton
+4.5
The first to arrive was the Prawn dumplings with eggs, chives and wood ear mushrooms. I had been a bit hesitant about this one with the presence of egg in it, but my worries were unfounded. The eggs were more like little specks of scrambled goodness, which added a creamy consistency to the mixture, which was full of juicy prawns and gloriously-garlicky chives. It was the unanimous favourite out of all of the dumplings.
The pork and eggplant ones are also very nice and are filled with a brown gravy of pork mince with a hint of star anise. I spot chunks of braised eggplant which I absolutely love.
Dumplings there so nice , and beef noodle soup is delicious . Price is cheap . Yummy!!!
A little more expensive than it used I be, but still great for a quick and cheap dinner feed!
Shallot pancakes were the greatest! And the cold tofu salad was also a winner. Will be back!
The fish and coriander dumplings is really nice. Definitely going back again.
Not just for Dumplings!. If you're out for a romantic evening this is certainly not the place to go, but if you've had a long day in the office and want something that is going to hit the spot before you settle into to an evening of pajamas and TV this is the winner.
The best way to describe the food is 'comfortable.' The richly flavoured dumplings are a must and I just can't go past the lamb and leek and I am yet to find a variety on the menu I dislike. But there is so much more to this place than just the dumplings!
The Taiwanese Spiced Pork rice at $4 with an egg is especially wholesome while the delicate broth of the Taiwanese Beef Noddle Soup is a hidden gem on the menu you should not pass over!
The wait staff are friendly and can actually make good suggestions when asked. The food is usually sent out promptly although sometimes you have to wait a little longer if you have ordered fried dumplings but never so long that you would have finished the other dishes before they came out.
Basically while the ambiance and environment is nothing to rave about the fact is the staff are friendly, the food is delicious and the price is right! Perfect for those who need a decent mid week feed before heading home for the night!
Great place!!. Been here a few times and while it has a name which has a not so unusual name boasting about something (have people heard of the 4 sky kings, they are singers.....) my verdict is, its good but not great. But its the other items on the menu's which impressed me more. Have tried a few entrees and my friend couldn't help but buy some take away.
Ambience wise, its not so big with small tv's on the side. Service, the food didn't take too long to come out. Value wise, we ate a few different dishes and it was quite reasonable.
My friend introduced her other friends to this place and they love it too. There isn't much not to like about this place.
Had the fish and coriander steamed dumplings with the rice pancake. Food was good and came out quickly cost $16 for both and got free chinese tea. The dumplings seemed the most popular lunch dish.
Sydney Dumpling King ticks the boxes of what I look for in a place where I want a quick bite: cheap and cheerful.
The waitress was very nice, the food came out quickly and tasted good. Prices were affordable, making it ideal for an inexpensive meal for lunch or dinner.
A great dining experience overall. The lady was nice and polite. Their dumplings servings were generous and delicious. Guaranteed homemade with no MSG, preservatives or additives. Xiao long bao was juicy and flavourful while siu mai was fresh and full of shrimps and pork flavours. Hot and sour soup was just average. Card payments accepted with $1 charge. Will come back to try other dishes because the foods were cheap and fresh.
Yummy food! Good flavors, fast and efficient service, the dumplings made just behind the front counter - so fresh. Good value for money. Always leave satisfied
We tried this legendary place at Burwood recently for a quick lunch. We ordered their staple e.g. pork meatball soup, pork-mince rice and their famous pork & coriander fried dumplings. We love all dishes especially the dumplings. Their prices are very good value for your money but you're recommended to pay cash since they apply a harsh flat surcharge of $1 for CC payments. This kind of flat charge may even be illegal in Australia.
On a second visit, we ordered their famous shallot pancake, hot & sour soup and pork, prawn & mushroom dumplings. Their dumplings and pancake were very good, while the soup was just OK.
On our first visit after Sydney lock-down lifted, we tried their shallot-oil noodles. It was nice dish, and we love the noodles especially.
Don't expect customer service here but at least you get what you ordered efficiently. Ambience is reasonable for casual Taiwanese restaurant in suburban Sydney.
Went there Friday night, food spot on, so fresh, awesome value and service really nice aswell, we will def be back
Ordered Pan-Fried Dumplings and Pork Rice Bowl.
Cheap, delicious and comfortable food.
Dumplings are fresh-made too.
The waitress does not have any issue with communication in English and is pretty friendly.
Pretty quick on lunchtime might get crowded over dinner time.
Sittings are fit, not too small and not too spacious.
Great value for money and delicious oil noodles. Celery and beancurd salad was a bit too chewy though.
Great, tasty, handmade dumplings. Highly recommend.
