The best pan fried pork dumplings Ive had in a long time. The filling and the soup inside was so flavorful, I was really impressed. Fried to crispy perfection, these were absolute winners. The spicy pork mince noodles had a good kick of chilli and the pork and prawn wonton soup was lovely and clean flavours. The prices were amazing and quick friendly service.

Nothing spectacular about the dishes here, they’re all super hearty and filling. Ordered: 6 prawn and pork dumplings ($11), fried rice ($13) and the pork and tofu rice ($8.80). As I said, all were solid, simple dishes but sometimes, that’s exactly what you need, thumbs up!

This restaurant is quite cosy with a large menu, giving you many options to choose from. We ordered a total of about 7 dishes among 4 people. My favourites was definitely their recommended Pork Xiao Long Bao (pan fried) and the cute little custard piggy buns!

The pork dumplings in the peanut sauce was also yummy! I would definitely visit again to try other items on the menu

This is nice inexpensive place for Chinese food. The pan fried pork dumplings were very good. The bbq pork buns and prawn dumplings were standard. The shop is very small with so takeaway is better.

I ordered their pan fried pork buns and I was handed them instantly. They were cooked quite well and I loved the soup inside the bun. The pork was melt-in-your-mouth quality and I loved how crispy the buns were. Pretty good price for what you get and it filled me up!

Can’t really eat inside the little shop so it’s great to grab something and go sit in the Plaza close by. Great if you’re looking for some good tasting dumplings.

I came for their fried buns and they wasn’t disappointing at all. The buns were juicy with crisp skins. The pork inside was excellent. Although it took me 15-20 minutes to get my fried buns but it was worth waiting.

Nothing hits the spot like a great pan fried dumpling - a mixture tender soft skin at the top and the crunch of the crispy button before reaching the juicy pork and delicious soup inside. service is quick and efficient.

Small place located on a side street near the station, busy but clean.

Tried out the three types of buns, the mini pork wonton soup and the curry beef soup. Buns are pretty good, except that the ones with prawns actually got a whole prawn in each bun, so it’s different from what you will get from Shanghai where the buns will be stuffed with a mixture of pork mince and chopped prawn meat. The curry beef soup was quite authentic, however the soup of the pork wonton soup tasted a bit artificial and salty.I had to drink a lot water afterward to get over it...

Cheap and cheerful dumplings! Pan fried ones come in a box of 6 and are everything that you want - juicy, crispy and satisfying. They are pretty big and great value. Some dumplings take longer to cook so check before ordering. There is hardly any seating, so be prepared to get takeaway.

I’ve been here countless times and with it’s prices, vibe and quick service, it’s a great lunch or late night dinner. I love the fried pork buns (not sure if that’s what they’re called!) and the sichuan style chicken. Do come here if you’re in burwood, it’s delicious and cheap.

I'm impressed how simple are these food for a little of a price. The shop is small but don't judge the book by it's cover, this place has pretty good food. I had their pork dumplings with the curry noodles soup, it was awesome. There's a Kick to the soup but it doesn't feel heavy or overpowering. The chives pancake is pretty good, chrispy and savoury. (To be continued)

Shanghainese styled dumplings that is worth a try. Luckily not too many things on the menu so we didn't get choice fatigue. The pork/vege buns were super juicy, xiao long baos were good. The chicken and beef side dishes were good too. The stand out for BB was the sichuan styled wontons in peanut sauce. Highlights: simple, no fuss place. The dumplings + sides tasted good. Lowlights: all the side dishes came out in take away containers, and there was no chilli/oil combo!

I was In Burwood for the day. I was craving dumplings 🥟. At the point I had been looking for this restaurant on google maps for 5 mins. I ended up finding it just before I gave up.

It’s a little restaurant supper busy. I just don’t understand how one restaurant can only have two little tables when there that busy. This restaurant is better for take away. They really need to get a bigger shop they will triple there earning!

I had a milk tea. It was full of flavour and amazing :-)

The dumpling and pork buns are to die for. Definitely in my top 5 places iv eaten at! I highly recommend this restaurant. It does get busy. I was listening to these two boys who came in and the girl said there is a 20 mins wait. So get in early.

The girl was really sweet and great customer service, I sat down and she even offered me vinegar and soy sauce, and chilli oil. It was amazing. I’ll be back

Love this place for shanghainese food. All the dumplings were excellent. Pan fried dumplings had a prawn in it. The meatball was very tender and tasty. Overall the food here is excellent.

My fav would be the dumplings with peanut and chilli sauce. Small yet lots of tables in the restaurant.

A tasty, cheap Asian eatery in Burwood. This is a famous chain from China, I’ve not been to the original but I think this one is decent. The specialty ate the pan fried ‘shen jian bao’ which are crunchy on the outside and soft and soupy inside which delicious juicy meat. The soup dishes were ok, I would probably stick to their speciality dumplings and bun/baos. The spring onion pancake was the other standout, one of the better ones I’ve eaten. Worth a visit.

I have been spending some time in Burwood recently and have not been able to resist all the dumplings. I head to Yang's in Burwood where there is more seating (there are two). . I first experienced Yang's in Shanghai and really enjoyed the dumplings so I was very happy it's now opened in Sydney. The venue is quite small and there's lots of dirty plates everywhere that have yet to be cleared but I can see a staff member gradually clearing the tables. You order at the counter and seat yourself.

This is a tiny restaurant right next to burwood train station (about 20 people can fit in)
I initially came for their signature soup dumplings (with crispy skin) but their menu actually has a good variety of options that I am really keen to try.
My favourite was mini wonton soup- it was quite light but full of flavour. I also ordered chilli oil dumplings, crispy pork soup bun + crispy pork& veggies soup bun, sesame sticky rice balls(dessert)
and they gave me a winter melon drink for free.
The food was very delicious and the price was very reasonable.

Pan fried pork bun = star of the show. Juicy/soupy!! The BEAST. 👹

Pan fried pork dumpling = supporting act! Belle. 👩🏻

Seaweed cold dish and Sesame & Red Bean Balls = extras but revealed potential. Those Clock 🕰 & Candlestick 🕯fellas.

Definitely some place we’d return too & recommend to others.

Place is rather small so do come in early or wait (like the rides at Disney World).

Visited Yang’s this evening in search of a quick and cheap dinner. Yang’s wasn’t too busy for a Saturday night - We easily found a table. The steamed dumplings, pancake and fried pork buns were all delicious. We also ordered the wontons in peanut/chilli oil, unfortunately I wasn’t a huge fan of this dish.

Staff were friendly and prompt with their service! It’s nice that you receive a complimentary drink until the end of Feb when you order the fried pork bun.

Overall we ordered 4 dishes, a bottle of water and can of coke for under $35!

Yang’s has signs advising customers that the dishes don’t contain MSG. There was no bad after taste, the meals were fresh and yummy!

Just one tip, don’t wear a white shirt or you’ll end up covered in juices like me!

This is a very casual eatery, you must order at the counter and collect your own cutlery - But it’s part of the experience.

Yang’s is conveniently located close to Burwood Station.

You can pay with cash or card.

We had heard good things about the traditional Shanghai dumplings here and took a visit. We got some takeaway dumplings - the Xiao Long bao and pan fried dumplings. They were super tasty (but quite thick bread on the pan fried ones). A great range of drinks too.

This is a blog that I have been meaning to write for a while and is very close to my heart.  Although residing in Australia for nearly two decades, I come from a city that is the birthplace of Xiao Long Bao and Sheng Jian Bao, otherwise known as Soup Dumplings in western world.  This blog is all about some of the food I grew up with.

I came on Sunday 9/1/18 late afternoon wanting to purchase some of their pan fried dumplings (生煎包) but it was not available at the time so I got (锅贴) instead. I bought takeaway and unfortunately when I had it after getting home, I felt it was average and the skin was quite tough.

I wrote about the experience on Zomato without any intention of harm but more to share my opinion. Management saw the review and contacted me to apologise and explained in order to maximize the flavour of the food, they suggest to eat it fresh or heat up take away dumplings. I was invited to return to try some freshly cooked dumplings complimentary.

When I returned to the store the following weekend, the manager took the matter very seriously and checked when I had visited the store and who the staff members working that day were. I then tried the dumplings cooked fresh and the dumpling skin was good and there was lots of soup. It reminded me of what I had loved about these dumplings which I've had countless times in Shanghai.

Burwood is full of new eateries serving Asian cuisine and the competition is very strong. What stands out about this business is how attentive the management was in addressing the feedback they receive about the restaurant.

If you do decide to visit, this restaurant has two locations - one on Burwood Rd and one on Deane St. The latter has more seating for eating whereas the first is more a grab to go style. I would suggest to order and eat fresh if you can to make the most of the experience.

Yang's Dumpling offers a cheap, no frills, comforting feed. The great thing about it is that you can eat here pretty much any time of the day, because dumplings are ideal as both a snack or as part of a larger main meal. The pan fried pork buns at Yang's are things of beauty. They're the dumplings you absolutely must try, best described as a marvellous hybrid of the Shanghainese pan-fried pork bun, only with more filling and a thinner outer casing.

Yang’s dumpling Shanghai is known for its cheap, fast, hearty fried pork buns. Not sure whether they own this chain but interior does have the same atmosphere. Clean and modern interior with part of the kitchen visible to show the freshly made items. Low tables and backless chairs were organised in a way to fit as many people as possible. I ordered at the counter and sat down to wait for my food.

Curry vermicelli soup arrived very quickly. It was laid out carefully unlike in Shanghai. Curry flavour was toned down and was extremely peppery. Vermicelli was al dente. Beef slices were thick and tender. I don’t feel there was any MSG, Shanghai they put a boatload, because it didn’t leave me thirsty.

I had to wait for 10 minutes for a fresh batch of fried buns, tbh wasn’t mad at all because they came out piping hot and extremely crispy. It wasn’t too doughy but was extremely fragile, broke easily in contact with chopsticks and were too wide to fit in the spoon. Biting in released the flood gates as delicious soup came flowing out. The filling was good but I preferred the ones in Shanghai.

Would recommend people to try it because Chinese cuisine is extremely vast and flavours very dramatically.

Yang's has a good vibe, just like the ones back in Shanghai. It’s perfect for the neighbourhood people to come chill, hang out and grab a quick n hearty meal. This new dine in restaurant is on the quiet Deane Street, ground floor of a newly opened commercial building. The menu has expanded too, apart from the dumplings, must try the super crispy Spring Onion Pancake and the signature Deep Fried Pork Chop with classic Shanghai Yellow Label Spicy Soy Sauce.

Another outlet of Yang's Dumpling locates next to Hong Kong Bing Sutt, which is not easy to find. Comparing to the first shop, this one has a few seats available so that you can sit in the shop and enjoy the hot #Pan fried Bun# . I would say it's quite close to the taste of fried bun I had in China. It's nice, juicy, hot and delicious.

They have set #Curry beef soup with vermicelli# as a main served with 4 pan fried buns. $11.8 is OK but sometimes you'll find the beef soup not enough. It's suitable for dinner when you don't feel like eating too much.

A bit of Shanghai has landed in Burwood. Like it's competitors, Din Tai Fung and Tim Ho Wan, it is a chain store but not on their scale. Recently opened on Deane Street, this smallish restaurants is most known for its pan fried pork buns. On my to do list when in Shanghai, I got to road test this before I get over there. There are a few tables in here and they seemed to be busy with takeaways. Currently only accepting cash, the sign read that eftpos is coming soon. The service was nice and efficient. You can watch the chefs in the window meticulously making the dumplings and buns.

Ordering takeaway, the selection chosen included Pan Fried Pork Buns as well as Combo C which had Steamed Pork Dumplings + Curry Beef Soup With Vermicelli. The pricing is quite sharp and you get a lot of food for the amount paid which is very pleasing. The food all travellled well and stayed quite hot. I think the dumplings do better than the buns as the moisture makes the buns slightly soggier but it was still piping hot when we ate them. The flavours are really good and the soup in the buns and dumplings were excellent. The curry beef soup was quite mild and pleasant to eat.

I predict this to be a neighbourhood favourite and a standout even with all the competition on Burwood Road.

I heard many good reviews about this dumpling place in Burwood and finally I got the chance to try this week. Even though it was lunch time but the store wasn’t that busy, mostly online orders through delivery. We chose to sit outside because inside was a bit dark and the floor was quite oily therefore slippery. The food came quickly and I could taste the freshness of ingredients. The fried buns were packed with goodness and had plenty fillings. The spicy peanut sauce for the wontons is creamy, tangy and a bit savoury. Good experience overall - great staff and portions as well.

The Xiao Long Bao is so delicious! They do a variety of dumplings and other Chinese snacks and meals. Good for the price and good service. Only thing (not related to the food) was that the sauce bottles were not all labelled, not clean and don’t work properly (leak or bad flow).

Normally I order through UberEats but today I was in Burwood and thought I’d check out the restaurant. The restaurant is small but has 6 tables, some long for extra seating. Very busy with takeaway orders by locals and UberEat drivers coming and going. This restaurant is sure not short of business and is a popular spot. The dine in experience is okay but food comes at different times and a little bit of a wait, and they have garbage at eye view in seating area, which is a little off putting, especially if sitting at nearby seats. The food: I’m obsessed with the vegan dumplings in the peanut chilli sauce, the mushroom buns and the salt & pepper tofu dish. I order from Yangs maybe 2-3 times a week, the food is delicious!

Beware of the squirt!! The pan fried dumplings are really hot & has delicious liquid cased within. Piping hot liquid bursts when you bite in and may burn you unknowingly! Recommend plain pork dumpling, no need for prawn & pork as it’s not like a mixed prawn & pork mix like in traditional steam dumplings that provides that crunch texture. This is a small prawn on top of the mince pork filling which youwouldn’t miss if it wasn’t there. Would definitely come visit again.

Recently found out about this hidden gem. Love all the dumplings but can't go past the penut and sesame oil sauce version. Great food and awesome friendly staff. They have even thrown in a few free items when I order uber eats and regardless of the reason it's just a nice gesture.
