Review Bengong's Tea - Burwood

They sell good breads. A little secret is their bubble tea sundaes. Vanilla soft serve with brown sugar pearls. It’s a very nice treat.

So weird, every time I go here, half the menu is not available. Other than that, the drinks are not bad. A little messy interior, the winds at doors don't help either. Good to chill for half an hour.

This is a really nice café. The staff are so friendly. The coffee is great. The decor is so beautiful and just a great place to sit and watch the world go by ☺️😍

Friendly services; bread is soft and taste good; coffee is so so

I ordered a flat white with Almond milk but they gave me a normal milk. However i can drink a milk coffee so i was lazy to make a complaint. But the coffee wasn’t good taste, it was like a warm milk. I strangely recommend to not have coffee. Wasted my money

I pre-ordered a cake for my Mum’s birthday, only to discover that there was no cake ready or available when I went to pick it up. Apparently the person responsible for baking the cake that day was absent and the staff seemed quite lost regarding this matter. There was no correspondence whatsoever to inform me of this issue in advance even though my contact details were provided through the pre-order, so I was left scrambling last minute for a plan b on this special occasion. Quite disappointed with Bengong’s disorganisation regarding this matter and would caution future customers who plan to order a cake.

Chatswood store also amazing. Better quality tea than any other bubble tea shops. Slightly pricey, but worth it. Very busy on the weekend. They didn't execute COVID measures well, too much people inside with minimal social distancing observed. Tarts and pastries were pricey but extremely decadent and delicious. Come on weekdays and it won't be busy.

I always going to this place when I go to burwood. The color here are just so Vivid and cute and make me feel happy. Be honest the signature black sugar tea is too sweet for me, I like the signature fruit tea much more! I picked oolong tea as the base for my fruit tea and it is delicious. I love the dessert bread here. Those bread are more like desserts than normal main meal. Really adding a bit of color to life. It might looks very sweet but it actually not. Used fresh cream, the strawberry one (I think the top seller) is amazing. This is my third time here. Will come back again

Amazing service always and top quality sweets and drinks!!

I had the fruit tea which was nice and refreshing. However, I would like a stronger tea flavour.
Still recommend and would go back to try something else.

There is a small line at night, the cakes are okay, service is okay. just everything is okay, but really expensive.

Mango sago shaking yoghurt. Such a refreshing drink, I love mango and sago so this was the perfect flavour for me. A mix of textures with the yoghurt, chewy sago. They also put real fruits in there, mango chunks and even grapefruit chunks for a little kick.

the ube mochi was very bland

The pearl milk tea at a hefty price certainly did not deliver! Asked for no ice and it came out at a very warm temperature (usually other stores with no ice do have a slight chill) and at 70% sugar, was quite sweet. Couldn't finish it.

We tried this chocolate mousse cake and the taste is really superb. I am now converted from Breadtop cake to Bengong cake. Highly recommended. They also provide the free cutlery and the quality is so much better than all other bakery. They just set the benchmark.

I would say the best sweet bakery in Sydney that also offers milk teas and yoghurt drinks!!! Now they have fruit flavoured yoghurt tea drinks in a reusable bottle! And was so refreshing!!

I LOVE IT.
From China to Australia, I still fall in love with their fruit tea. Must try it if you didn't taste before.
HungryBabesSugarApe
Wow... mind blown. We both tried the tea cube series: first was the matcha tea with lychee tea cubes (green tea with lychee jelly) and the milk tea with coffee cubes!!! Not on the menu displayed here but definitely super tasty!! Better the jelly than pearl balls.... I know that’s sacrilege to the bubble tea connoisseurs but try it if you know believe me. Cheese foam!? That’s so last year!!
JuJu
Great bubbletea, but very disappointed with the service. Tried to order in english, non of them could understand or know the names of their flavours in english. Tried pointing at it, still got my orders wrong.

Love the concept of bakery and tea shop at the same time.
Beautiful selections of bread and I’ve try only brown sugar milk tea.
The small size so cute and cheaper by $1, I guess better the regular size.

A perfect selection of teas and a beautiful bakery. Their bakery is fresh and delicious and every time I have gone I have been happy. My favourite dessert from the bakery would have to be the strawberry and cream pastry. My tea and drink recommendations are the strawberry cheezo and the Bengong fresh tea.

There is a few seats and tables inside but it’s perfect to just grab your food/drink and go. The lines do get busy at peak hours but definitely worth it.

This shop is both a bakery shop and a tea shop. They offer a variety of bakeries and drinks.

[Ambience]🏠
The first thing that I’m pretty unsatisfied is that their shop is too small. It only allows one person to pass through when you’re choosing your bread.
Anyway the shop is pretty clean and the atmosphere is quite gentle.

Their [Matcha sticky rice]🍵 drink series is their popular winter drinks in recent times. The drink itself is much like a meal because I felt really full after finished it all up.

[Watermelon Cheezo] 🍉$7.2
Watermelon juice plus ice as base topped up with cheese foam. It’s pretty cold but nice looking.

With a big expectation after looking at Urbanspoon and their instagram – I go to burwood just to try their special soft serve of that time is rose gold sundae – BIG LOVE FOR THIS ONE! OMG I REALLY LIKE IT! I didn’t expect this would be that yum, I could taste the bold rose flavour without being too overpowered and it’s pretty as well. (9/10)

And ordering three best seller drinks in Bengong’s tea which is Bengong Fresh ($7.8) – A little dissapointed for this one because it comes BIG and looks NICE. The tea is a little bit bitter but the super plus point is that fresh fruit is so fresh. The watermelon, strawberry and orange – after a long journey, it’s a glass of refreshment so I’m able to finish it. (7/10)

Peach cheezo ($7.8) – My lil bro’s favourite. I just take a sip and he finish all of it, he really like the cheese on the top of that fresh peach. Not too sweet for this one. (8/10)

Wuwu black pearl milk ($3.8) – Just a simple milk tea and nothing special. And I found it a little too sweet, maybe I should order less sweet next time. (7/10)

🍴 Wuwu Black Pearl
➕Pearls were soft, chewy and sweet. Cold ice cream and warm pearls really compliment each other.
➖Quite sweet; as you get deeper to the bottom, it becomes a lot sweeter because of the brown sugar syrup.

Went here with my baby girl last week to try their bread and drinks! Very inpressed sith the variants and i personally love their aurora bread which has salted egg yolk custard filling! And also their flavoured cream bun is something unique! Got their melon flavs and lovin it :)

Houjicha ice cream is also very delish and not too sweet!
Recommended :)

Although the matcha colour was not very vibrant compared to other specialised matcha shop in the City, the flavour’s still there and actually better than matcha from other bubble tea brand. The cheese foam on top was also really good if not to say one of the best in the area. Overall i enjoyed the drink very much and will comeback for sure.

This is a good place. I rate the service and there are some interesting flavours and mixes. The desserts look fantastic. Points for creativity and attitude.

Quite wholesome tasting bread and cheezo tea. Xihuahua 🐶 loathed the bread for being too wholesome haha. It’s ok she can’t eat guilty food before a big show. It is a big stuffed donut but not fried. The tea is quite strong, love it!
Thelifeofpaopao
This is the best little bread shop ever, everything is high quality from their milk teas to their icecream and breads!! I tasted the black sugar milk tea and it was amazing 😍 Might be my second or third favourite one after Alley🌈🌈 their bread is light and not to heavy but with enough flavour and their new Valentine's Icecream is so delicious ❤️❤️❤️
Howtosnacc
Very refreshing selection of teas - brown sugar being my fave. The selection from the bakery is also a delight, but could use more sweetness, but that just might be my taste preference
Hangrylittlelisa
Great place for a refreshing tea/dessert break on a hot summer's day. Had the smooth creamy oolong tea and milk soft serve in a black sesame cone + Fruity oolong tea. 3 small tables inside to sit and chat. Prices a little steep for ice tea, cheapest thing on the menu is $6.8...

Iced Matcha Latte : 😍 Amazing

Been dying to come here for desserts but today I made the spontaneous decision to pop in and grab some milk tea. I tried their Matcha Latte and damn it was good. The pearls were a lot sweeter and chewier than I what I’m normally used to, however, it’s still good milk tea.
Susan
Creative selection of drinks and sweets. This corner tea and bakery is worth a visit. Best for the hot summer days, they offer soft serve and gelato tea. The hojicha soft serve was very nice and so was the matcha wuwu black milk tea.

I got the brown sugar pearl milk and bought their mini cakes as well. All I can say about their food is it is delicious and has abundant amount of flavour. I could taste every layer of cream and sponge in their cake. The pearls in the brown sugar milk were so soft but yet still so chewy. I would recommend this place if you are near by.

More photos in blog :)

A rumour made its way to me that the best taro tea in Sydney belonged to Bengong’s Tea and Bakery, a little store in Burwood. It’s a big claim and competition would be rife, even locally as outside of the CBD, Burwood has one of the greatest numbers of bubble tea stores within a walkable distance. I counted ten other bubble teas stores on and around the main street as I made my way from one end of it to the other.

This has become my favourite drinks and bakery shop in Burwood. I had the matcha brown sugar pearl milk tea which was actually really nice, the pearls were soft and chewy. I also tried the purple rice matcha drink which was pretty good too but because the purple rice is spread around the cup and settles at the bottom in clumps, it was a bit difficult to drink. I would still order it again though!

They also have some really soft and fluffy breads/buns with interesting fillings. My favourites so far are the salted egg pork floss bun and the taro pork floss bun. I’ve tried the taro mochi brown sugar one which was okay too but quite heavy from the mochi and bread.

Small little corner bakery in Burwood which gets busy at intervals as it’s close to the station. Bengong’s Tea and Bakery really brings something different! Bread is soft and fluffy and tastes great.

I came here at least three times. It is a little bit addictive because the color here is so bubbling and all the drinks are just so cute.

The signature dirty tea is essentially a black sugar milk tea. (Although my friend said the matcha version can be sugar free) It is too sweet for me, so I tried fruit tea for the second time. Love the jar packed signature fruit tea, oolong tea based, with pack of fresh fruit infused flavor.

The strawberry sweet bread can be a very nice dessert. The cream is made out of fresh whipped cream, and it is so light and fluffy. I also tried other bread but their size is more like sharing size. The store is kindly offer to cut them in half and pack them accordingly. So don’t hesitate to walk in and share those cute sweet bread treat with friends.

Nice looking desserts! Taste is mediocre but I came in for their tea. I had their orange tea and it was refreshing while my boyfriend got their mango tea which tasted really nice! Definitely recommend their tea. Their packaging is so cute, I love it. Will definitely go back if I'm feeling thirsty.
Yanruyi95
A cute bakery with tea and bread. You can always grab sth to eat here. I really love the wuwu tea series and all the adorable bread here. I will strongly recommend you guys to try the brown sugar pearl milk. It was not that sweet as I thought but the pearls inside were really sweet. I damn love it!
Weiqi Maple Feng
The milktea here is really good, especially the pearls. If you like taro, plz try the taro milk with pearl! You will love that!

The bread is large and full of fillings.

The creepy dog cake really attracts everyone’s attention, I will try it one day!
Julie Nguyen
Had the taro brown sugar milk tea here and absolutely loved it! It’s similar to the well known yifang brown sugar milk tea but I really enjoyed the extra addition of the taro pieces and the pearls were so soft and chewy. One thing to note is that you can’t adjust sugar levels. Will definitely be back to try the other drinks and pastries (which looked amazing) 😍

Dirty Milk Tea with the pears is very nice~~~. And.....that’s it. Everything else is mediocre, no difference to any other 100 Tea places in Burwood.
Irene Fu
love love love this wonderful tea shop and bakery! The fruit tea is just excellent for a hot sunny day. And those cute breads are quite a nice choice for breakfast!
Aileeasy
I love the brown sugar pearl here, so soft, like that they will melt in your mouth. Very very nice. Every time I would order the tea with pearls, they are the reasons to quicken my steps from the station. Also, the service is very attentive, because when you order, the guy wants to make sure you enjoy the most of the tea and give me very useful advice. Like I order the pearl tea without ice, he told me since the brown sugar pearls are hot, if I drink without ice, the tea would be not cold at all. I like their tea, especially WUWU tea.

Bubble tea fever! So many new places popping up everywhere. Bengong is on the list to try and I got the matcha tea with brown sugar pearls. Should not have asked for half ice as I think it would have been better colder. Great bbt though pearls were a bit too sweet for me.
Located in Burwood. The bread here is good looking as well as tasty. It tastes good even it is put in the fridge and heated in the microwave the next day. You always need to wait for up to 10 mins for a drink. Looking forward to try the strawberry cream bread and Oreo cream bread. One thing to mention is that the price is a little bit high;(
Lucianna Guo
People should be confused as why Chinese bread’s are so pretty but sweet... actually we have it as desert! Therefore.. this is a afternoon desert shop with tea and sweetened bakeries... from desert point of view I’ll give it a 5!! Love the deco here and also service in Chinese was prefect... 😉

The presentation of these drinks is super cute, however the drinks itself was average. These drinks are a little expensive.

We ordered the Sparkling Passionfruit Tea and Oolong Bengong Fruity Tea.
Honestly, this is one of the most favorite Chinese bakery in Sydney!!!!
I live in city, every single time I went to burwood I would definately buy one or two break home as my next day breakfast。
Cheese bread is my fav ,but this time I tried something new☞strawberry cream bread which is amaaaaaaaaaazing!!!!!!

Visit this new bakery in here. They have lots of variant of bread and tea as well. Love the interior. I ordered the Oreo cream bread and wuwu matcha without sugar, wuwu taro. Their matcha so good. The brown sugar pearl also amazing. Will come back to try the fruit tea. If you like taro latte, should try in here because they put real taro.
Xihuahua 🐶
Tried their signature bread 🥖, two flavours, Oreo 🍪 and strawberry 🍓

It’s not the western style bread or Bakery, also not Chinese transitional bakery~ thus its combination? Or creation lol~~~ the texture of the bakery tasted like Bun, but with cream and western filling~~~

Overall, I quite enjoyed! Personally~

Haven’t try their tea, but looks nice !
Eatwithmyfoodsafari
This is not your typical Asian bakery, with the offering including interestingly named delights like the ”Hulk” and “Sea Salt Bursting Wu Wu Cheesecake”. Overwhelmed by choice, I defaulted to a snail which was crisp and flaky.
Queenie
Actually, I wanna rate this place 3.5.
Have to say this shop is a little bit pricy. But it’s all about flavor. This kind of bread is a hit in China. And this place did bring the good flavor to Sydney. Love the taro bread and the matcha bread. The filling is silky but I want to have more filling not the bread bun.
The staff were nice.
And some products looks quite fancy😂
Gloria Chu
The strawberry bread is tasty, however the drinks are just like other Chinese tea chain popping up in every Chinese suburbs nowadays, nothing special.
But the strawberry bread is really unforgettable, with its subtle sweetness of the bread, which is still light pink after baking....it’s a feast to the eye.
Despite the quality of the bread, personally I find it hard to justify spending approx $7+ on a bread....maybe save if for a treat for special occasion.
Lastly, the they are quite thoughtful, because of the length of some of their bread, they will help you cut it in half and put in nicely into two separate boxes for you to carry it home. (So I guess that explains the price)

Price: 3.5/5
Taste: 4/5
Service: 4.5/5
Decor and presentation: 4.5/5
Visits: 1

Bengong’s is a new cafe chain from China which serves unique bread and teas that you don’t see around Sydney. It is really easy to get to from Burwood Station. If you are a tea person and want to try something new there is a wide selection here that you can’t get from the big chains. A little bit pricey but it’s worth it for the taste and the fresh bread that is baked daily.
Sarah&Gluttony
Now apparently I was told that Bengongs tea and bakery is a massive hit in China, so naturally I had to give it a go.
The breads and baked goods are eye-catching and taste pretty good. Plus they serve good quality tea.

It’s slightly overpriced, it cost $8 for a small rice cake or a fruit tea. But I suppose quality is not cheap!
