Review Fujimi Dorayaki - Burwood

James
We like to go here for a quick, cheap and yummy dessert. There are lots of flavours to choose from, and the quality is consistent and predictable every time we come here. Major downfall of this place is the poor customer service. Don’t expect a warm greeting here - or even a nice ‘hello’ back. We used a buy-one get-one free voucher on the Entertainment Book.

A great find tucked away in Burwood. Authentic Japanese dorayaki flavors, made fresh right in front of you. I had the matcha one with original red bean ($3.30). It was not too sweet. Will definitely come back to try other variations, especially with ice cream. The original dorayaki with red bean paste is $2.80. Cards accepted with no minimum.

What an awesome place ... The place offers amazing ice cream and dorayaki which is so nice. I had the one with red bean with matcha ice cream. My partner has normal red bead but I would say get the one with ice cream. The size is small but it is delish. They have combo drinks as well so have a look at their specials. It's newly open so come before everyone comes.

Bought voucher from groupon and wanted to try their flavour smoothie but the machine was always broken so I couldn’t have flavour smoothie drink only plain smoothie instead! Dorayaki was served cold and very typical, nothing special for me. Please fix your machine, as it has been broken for few weeks (or it was just your excuse to us to not giving flavour smoothie to voucher buyer?). I went there few times in few weeks and the staff always said sorry because our machine is broken today.

Terrible service by employees tonight (02 April). I asked them when they were closing since I wanted to browse around. They informed that closing was at 10pm (Even tho on the google info, it says 10:30pm). Upon arrival at 9:50pm, they serve the person infront me and then slapped the close sign when I came up without a word, even when I literally asked them about closing only 10-15 minutes before. Digusting service. Will never go there again.

Had one of the most disrespectful and embarassing experience here tonight. I asked the staff what time they would be closing and the staff said at "10pm". I checked my time and lined up at 9:50pm as soon as they finished taking the person's order infront of me and it came my turn the staff rudley slapped the closed sign on the counter in my face infront of everyone. What makes it worse is that your google says that you close at 10:30pm and not 10pm like the staff informed and yet I came at 9:50pm and staff had the audacity to close 40 mins prior. Not even a, "sorry we are closed". I hope the owners find better employes/staff that will represent their business in a much more positive light because this is not how you treat your customers.

Great customer service and care

Severely overpriced for what was given. Saddest people squishing ingredients with their bare hands into sad pancakes for $4.50. Don’t waste your time or be fooled by the pictures.

Located just off Burwood Road, this Japanese dessert and drink place is just a hole in the wall doing takeaways. I was served by a lovely lady who explained the dorayakis are made to order and would take about 5 minutes. I had the Chunky Peanut Nutella Dorayaki. I loved the filling in between two discs of pancakes. It was quite enjoyable.

My first time trying dorayaki. I got black tea pearl because it sounded intriguing, but the pearls didn't really pair well with it.

I did however, enjoy the flavour of the sweet pancakes with the creamy filling so next time I'll order different toppings. It is a nice and cheap dessert.

I like the red bean bun, however sometimes the flavour is inconsistent hence minus the one star. The mango drink was alright, I would've liked it slightly colder and not to thick.

These are freshly made dorayaki(like pancakes)..
We had taken vochers from groupon..
Had tried banana flavor,, it was yummy.,
Dorayaki are coated with Nutella Choco & with any flavor u choose..
They also do have smoothies..
They have lot of different types of doremon in the shop, when we visited they were selling it.. so do check with staff if any1 likes it..

The dorayaki were already made so I paid $9 for her to assemble the dorayaki so I was a bit disappointed with that. I liked the cream cheese added but otherwise, i felt it was overpriced and overhyped.

The cutest little hole in the wall store at Burwood serving up some delicious Doriyaki. It was my first time trying Doriyaki and it is probably now one of my favourite desserts. I ordered the one with ice cream, banana and nutella, paired with the sweetness of the sandwich. JUST YUM!!

I ordered the red bean with green tea ice cream and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was delicious
My partner bought the red bean with mochi but I didn't enjoy it as much but he liked it!

Flavours are nice and interesting, shame they were served cold. The price is bit too steep for something that isn't freshly made!!! Maybe i was meant to ask for it served warm...

Got the classic mochi and red bean for 4.50 and my friend got a black tea pearl. Got a student discount with it too so it ended up being slightly cheaper. Really enjoyed it however the price for the size of them were probably not really worth it. Service was wonderful, lady was extremely nice!

I’m a sucker for anything with matcha & the matcha ice cream sandwich was always going to be a winner. I liked the matcha pancakes too & it made it that much better instead of plain.

Who loves dorayaki? These place served different flavours of dorayaki. I love the matcha and peanut one. Served best if it’s hot and try their probiotic drinks as well

Best eaten hot & fresh, these dorayaki are effectively a Japanese pikelet sandwich with filling of your choice. They have basic versions (i.e. filled with red bean filling, nutella, cream, etc.) or premium versions, which include a scoop of icecream.

I came here mainly to redeem a Groupon voucher (better value than retail price) and opted for the combination of flavours including their red bean + mochi, brown sugar + red bean, purple yam, and chunky peanut + nutella. They do make their pikelets fresh but will attempt to offload their (c)older batch and therefore the dorayaki were part warm, part cold. I tried the red bean + mochi one on the way home, which was pretty much what you'd expect of a pikelet sandwich, and then put the rest in my freezer for later consumption - instructions say that you can eat within 2-3 days at room temperature, or can freeze for up to 20 days, and microwave briefly before eating... however with the recent hot Sydney temperatures, I wouldn't risk leaving them lying on my kitchen counter.

Tried the vanilla ice cream banana nutella dorayaki ($4.50) from the ice cream dorayaki menu. I liked the flavour combination and the novelty of the experience. I particularly enjoyed the fact that the storefront had glass panelling which meant you could watch the whole process of assembling the dorayaki.

I'm not sure that the price is justified though as it was quite a small and basic treat.

If you'd like to read more of my reviews, please check out my zomato page and visit @cynthiaeats_ on Instagram for more photos!

I had 2 ice cream (macha and chocolate) with 2 spread (red bean and chocolate)
Average. It just tastes like pancake with ice cream.
Pancake is still hot so your ice cream will melt quickly. Especially in summer time. I had to rush to finish before it gets messy..

As I took my first bite eating a Fujimi Dorayaki, it transcend me to another world. This is the best dessert that I have eaten so far. The Dorayaki was fluffy, chocolaty, you can taste the chocolate hitting your taste buds and it was an amazing experience.

(To be continued)
Jlovesssfood
Dorayaki was fluffy, full of filling yet not too sweet. Ice cream filled ones are not bad and be prepared to get your hands dirty while having it. Get the original (red bean) and purple potato ones if you like simple and delish flavours.
Hungrycatherine
Ordered the Matcha Icecream and Red bean version.
They made the pancakes fresh and when bitten in, its is slightly crispy with creaminess from the icecream and sweetness from the red bean.

Thoroughly enjoyed this and would recommend!

Note: my friend said that they once served her the pancakes not fresh and didnt taste as nice. Request for the fresh batch!

Fujimi is a small takeaway counter in the new Burwood Chinatown that serves dorayaki in various flavours and toppings combinations. Dorayaki are basically two pikelets sandwiching a filling of your choice, and a good size if you're getting peckish.. I had a classic red bean dorayaki. Keep in mind that it's best eaten warm though, so ask for a freshly made one if there are prepacked ones sitting around.

Really it’s what you get. My missus loved her peanut butter custard but I didn’t think much of it. While my one I enjoyed more. Plenty of options to choose from.

This place specialises in Japanese style pancake sandwiches. They make them fresh upon taking your order & place a filling of your choice sandwiches between 2 pancakes. It looked good so I ordered 4 different fillings for 4 pancake sandwiches. Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed with both the flavour & the texture. The fillings were ok but the pancake should be more springy, lighter & tastier. Although they were made as I watched they didn’t taste any better than the packaged ones you purchase that were prepared in a factory. They need to improve the batter. I would not recommend this place. However, the service was friendly & pleasant.

Located inside Burwood Chinatown Plaza this place is serving up freshly made "Dorayaki" a Japanese sweet snack which is like a pancake sandwich. They also serve up mix drinks and other snacks as well.

I really love the shop! I let the staff cut them in half so I can share with my friends. The ice cream is so nice and really big just$5.2! I prefer the purple yam with bamboo pie, and my friend likes the chunky peanut Nutella. We take some for breakfast as well. Easy and convenience.

3.5⭐️ for the dorayaki and the cute Doraemon deco. 😂
If made to order, the dorayaki tastes great! It’s soft, pillowy and warm - together with the fillings (I like going for the classic red bean, but the Nutella+peanut butter or the mango ice cream+peanut butter are both really good as well) , it’s a great dessert after a meal at Burwood.
However there are instances when they pre-made the dorayaki and it is left sitting on their table top which really affects the experience of having a fresh warm dorayaki. It just becomes cold and limp, almost disappointing. Perhaps the next time before that happens to me, I’d ask them to make it fresh or at least warm it up on their griddle.
Note: Eat them fresh if you can! Otherwise if you’re taking them home, do put them in the microwave for a couple of seconds.

Brown Sugar Red Bean : 😁 Great
Peanut Custard : 😁 Great
Service : 😕 Okay

There are so many different combinations of flavours to choose from and you can even change the flavour of the pancake with additional costs. There was nothing too spectacular about the Dorayakis and the I found it quite pricy for two slabs of pancakes with filling inside. Service wasn’t too great either. They weren’t welcoming or cheerful. Looked as though they just wanted to get their shift over and done with.
+3 decent red bean filling, spongey dorayaki
-1 cold

Kinda pricey, considering I received a stone cold less than palm sized pancake? $2.8, so you decide. The shop front leads you to expect a piping hot fresh made pastry! But they must have pre-made them. Why not just go to the asian grocers snacks aisle then?
Cute little packet though! And the cake was still aromatic, despite being cold.

Serving novelty dorayaki from doraemon was a must try for me ! Definitely had mixed feelings about this place. The food was good with a wide variety of fillings and flavours, but the menu had incorrect translations and spelling which left me really confused.. The service was half and half, which was a let down for me. One person was nice and prompt, while the other was rather unhelpful and didn’t do much but talk to their co-worker, even though I was standing in front of her waiting to be served 😡 definitely needs improvement there!
The original red bean was good and the matcha with peanut custard is actually peanut butter and spreadable custard on each side.
Nothing too special... I would probably only go back if I was craving dorayaki again.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
Getting lost in a foreign city strokes all the senses. Smell, sight, sound and taste are all stimulated as your brain scrambles to get a handle on everything you’re experiencing. Walking through Burwood Chinatown is almost as immersive as travel. Running deep into the block behind Burwood Road, this arcade of excitement busts through the usual food court boredom with an interesting collection of hawker style outlets arranged as you'd normally find them. They allow you to easily move between steaming bowls of malatang at Yang Guo Fu Ma La Tang to soup-filled xiao long bao at Yang’s Dumplings, as you weave past colourful kiosks. If you brave the back lanes you’ll also discover hidden pockets of seating, large murals and giant metal transformers, to pose with or ponder, as is your personal proclivity. Having just stepped out of Chir Chir with my belly filled with a hefty amount of Korean fried chicken, sugar was my only craving. Dajianchen’s puffy Hong Kong style egg waffles looked a bit hectic, so I spent my money at Fujimi Dorayaki. Dorayaki are Japanese snacks where two little curved pancakes are sandwiched together around sweet azuki (red bean) paste. The pancakes are made from...
