Review Shingle Inn - Burwood

The tiniest portions and outrageous prices. I asked for a chicken melt and she asked “1 slice or 2?” - I’m glad she did cos the $16 price on the menu was for 1 slice! 2 slices is $19!! I went with scrambled eggs on toast and this was the very very below average food with dry eggs And not even 2 whole slices of bread either... 1.5 slices! A maccas breakfast would have been more satisfying than this.

Very small eatery outlet with variety of menu and coffee. Food is tasty with less quantity and high prices. Staff are polite and professional.

Visited with my partner a couple months ago and ordered two big breakfasts and eggs benedict. The staff member taking our order double checked if we wanted the eggs benedict and was visually shocked with the amount of food ordered. Whilst we were eating, we constantly caught her just staring at us. Another attempted visit, which was our last, I tried to order 2 big breakfasts and the same staff member from last time straight out said "no". She did not elaborate as to why and yes we understood that they were closing in just over an hour but the fact that she was so abrupt and did not care to elaborate has made us feel uncomfortable here. The food was decent but experience for us was poor enough for us to no longer visit this place.

Ordered 3 coffee and a hot chocolate. Coffee was really good but the hot chocolate was separated as cheap chocolate syrup and hot milk. When I asked for more milk to dilute the hot chocolate as it was too sweet, staff demanded $3 extra for it! What a joke! Never had I ever seen a cafe charging $3 extra for a bit of milk. The barista had the worst attitude and extremely poor customer service I’ve ever seen!

Had pancakes and waffles which are pretty good. I didn’t try the coffee, but i had some tea that tasted decent. Place looks nice to hang around and rest up after shopping session. Service could be better, somehow the staff looks tired and unwilling.

Never have I ever had a sloppy/mushy crepe before in my life but here at Shingle, the avocado & chicken crepe stack is sure to deliver just that. I did not expect a crepe stack to be that mushy and really I could find no other word to describe the situation. The chicken burger didn't have much flavour and the haloumi cheese salad (was that really haloumi on my plate?) I am giving 2 stars for the sweet potato chips and the friendly cashier service. The menu has potential but the food requires more tender loving care.

Staff down know their own menu. “We don’t do kids milkshakes you’ll have to pay full price for a normal one” “here it is on the menu”. Make mistakes when taking orders. Coffee burnt. Expensive. Small serves.

I went there with my 2 daughters to have a coffee break after some shopping yesterday afternoon. But very disappointing at the lady who served us. She is the owner of the shop. I was wondering what upset her so much so that she didn’t smile to us at all though the whole time she took order. Maybe she just had a facial surgery, I guessed. But, 10 minutes later, “Mum, she actually can smile. She just talked to another Aussie ladies with a big smile” my 11 years old daughter discovered. Alright, I don’t know what to say. I feel sad for her.

This lil number is found on the top level of Burwood Westfield.Basic food here, but i go here for a fresh sandwich and a fairly good coffee. This place delivers all three!<br/>My favourite sandwich is the turkey and cranberry! Great to keep me going for the day.Great for a post-shopping haul break and feed 😂

The service was fairly good though misunderstanding when taking the order but all good. I had the Rosemary & Lamb Filo and Iced Latte. It tasted pretty good.
