The last time I had been to George’s Cafe it was just for dessert after the movies. Today we got to have lunch there. I chose the chicken parmigiana with chips and salad (pictured). The serve was generous to say the least. Enough for two people. I loved that it was made with eggplant and the fries were crispy and not oily. I tried my friend’s salmon (pictured) and it was perfectly cooked. The food is in the style of hearty pub food but you are not eating in a pub! #georgescafe
What I enjoy about George’s Cafe the most is they make sure what you eat is worth the value. They have big sizing in comparison to many other restaurants and it’s also quite cheap! I usually go for the risotto for much of my visits and it’s so delicious and big!
Great location and plenty of seating. Excellent service and fresh quality food. Restaurant is sound proof and air conditioned. Very comfortable. Chicken pesto risotto is amazing!

Been here several times. Servings are massive! Tastes are consistent. Food presentation might needs a bit improvement. Floor service was okay, depends on the staff working. Some of them are really friendly, but some of them are uninterested with customer (honestly) and act as if they're talking to a wall. Food doesnt take long to come out even on busy days. Surely will still keep coming back :)
However, expect long waiting times on food... have been here a handful of times and have waited 15-20 mins for food each time. Food is good, esp. pastas and dessert menu.

Stumbling across this cafe by accident definitely saved the day! The food was full of flavour with generous servings. The nacho is a must have along with the mushroom risotto. However the biggest letdowns on my list is the VERY POOR SERVICE bringing down the overall experience.

The food here is amazing. There’s so much flavour in everything. The sauce for the pasta and risotto was nice and creamy. The nachos and crepe were a little bit salty but nothing a refreshing cider couldn’t fix. I would love to come back and order other things on the menu. The trip was so worth it. Big thumbs up 👍🏼
Food is great, nice atmosphere but be aware that it can be addictive especially their mushroom sauce it is amaaaaziiing.. their mixed grills are always done to perfection
I have been coming to this cafe since 2013 and always ordered the eye fillet steak. It is to die for - end of story. I must admit they have got my order once ever by bringing me a rump steak and I was a bit annoyed when the waitress said that I had ordered rump. My reply was that I had been to this cafe about six times and only ever ordered the same dish! A replacement arrived and all was forgiven. Seriously, its that good that I don't want to risk ordering something else and wishing I hadn't. My dining companions have no complaints either. The chips and salad are also fabulous as are the sauces and I like the presentation.
Apart from the above experience I have never had a problem here service wise or anything else.
It's a shame Burwood Road is so run down and ugly as this place is a gem.
Had a wonderful evening with friends here. The wait staff were friendly and welcoming. For starters ordered the Sizzling prawns which came along with Garlic bread. 1/4th of the pot was covered in Oil, so din't really enjoy having it. For mains, ordered Tortellini mushroom pasta with Chicken Schnitzel on the side. While my friends ordered Risotto and Chicken with Mushroom sauce, mashed potato and veggies. The portion sizes of the mains were larger for one. So it would be advisable to share. Or else would definitely waste the rest of the food. To end the evening, we ordered Sydney Mud cake and Hazelnut mousse as desserts, which came along with cream and vanilla ice-cream. Both were yummm. Mud cake was moist and served with warm fudge. Mousse was tasty and creamy.
Was a bit surprised to see get charged .50 cents for warm water one of my mate's ordered.

If you intend to eat a main meal here - 'bring your appetite" you will need it. Large servings of great food is an understatement.
I had the Chicken omelet, and it covered the dinner plate, and at a guess it had at least a 1/4 breast of real "FRESH" chicken. My girl friend had the schnitzel sandwich, and it was so large she bought 1/2 home for my lunch the next day. Great place to eat, the cakes look fantastic, we just had no room - maybe next time.

Came here for dessert after dinner on Christmas day. We had the Sydney Mud, Tiramisu and Pineapple Gelato. The Tiramisu definitely stood out from all desserts. It's delicious but not too rich. Sydney Mud is very moist but a bit too rich for my liking. Coffee was good.
The only place I would go at night when in burwood. The people are nice and the food is nice. I didn't like the drinks though you can just get a Coke or sprite haha. Very nice. Thank you.

If you’re hungry you need to go to George’s! The plates of food they serve up are huge and bound to satisfy even the biggest of eaters. I remember being equally impressed and struggling to finish off my veal dish of some sort a year ago, but somehow managing to also fit in one of their incredibly sounding desserts. Serious food coma right there.
Went back as I was after a hearty feed, and was not disappointed one bit. Opting for the vegetarian burger, when it came out not only did the sheer size of it impress me, but they also didn’t hold back on the chips and salad.
Yes the burger was quite difficult and messy to eat, but it was very tasty and up there with one of the best veggie burgers I have tried. Not so much a vegie pattie, but made up of different vegetables such as eggplant and mushrooms. The salad was fresh but I didn’t enjoy the dressing on top, and there was so much of it too! Chips were great (ask for free tomato sauce!) and a lot to get through, but I made it in the end YAY! Apparently the beef burger was just average. We were way too full to get dessert this time, but I do think they are also worth getting.
I would occasionally dine here during my high school years. Every time I received my order, I noticed the food portions were larger than average and that's what kept me returning. Haven't been here for a while, though they continue to be in service, they must be doing something right. A cudos for them to serve Halal certified meals for Muslims in the area, saving them from travelling further out west so if you're after bacon or pork, best to head to neighbouring cafes.
I do recall most of their desserts were factory bought though hopefully when they revamp the cafe in the future, they could also introduce some new menu items as I believe it's been the same for a few years. Favourites menu items will always be favourites but I'm a little more health conscious now. I do recommend their BBQ Octopus salad (wow). Beautifully seasoned with fresh salad. It couldn't get any better :)
Had dinner here on Saturday night with my family. We had the mixed seafood and mixed meat plate. This dish consisted of: mussells, calamari, fries, perch fillet, prawns and steak. All of the items above were cooked well and tasted delicious. The place is obviously very popular by the number of people who frequent this joint every hour. This place was packed the whole time. The staff were friendly and provided great customer service. Our food arrived within 30 minutes, despite the busy atmosphere of the cafe. Overall, I highly recommend everyone to try this place.

One factor that makes me never want to come back to a restaurant is slow service. Almost 50 minutes for a simple Chicken mushroom dish and I was the only customer at that current time. However, this is still not a bad rating, considering the 4/5 rate. The food made up for the whole delay as it was a massive portion for an inexpensive menu. The fat chips and mushroom sauce were on point.

This is my second time here at George's cafe. The food here is always consistent and high standard. One of my favourite dishes is the New York Steak. Between myself and my boyfriend, we've tried many items on the menu and we'd have to say nothing ever disappoints. The servings are huge.. and the prices are very reasonable. Even the customer service is really good. I will definitely come back again!
If you’re a fan of huge portion sizes, then George’s Cafe in Burwood is the place to go. If you ever order their omelette, you’ll know what we mean (they probably use at least a dozen eggs in that gigantic omelette). Their wide range of pastas make it a great choice for anyone in the mood for Italian. When we arrived, our table and the seats were rather dirty though which is a bit of a turn off but besides that, service was really fast. Best to make a booking which can be done online.
There's always a thing that keeps you running back for more and for me George's Cafe does just that. I've been coming here for some time now and I personally have not been disappointed. I mainly come here with my partner and friends for their steaks and ribs. The size of their servings is always an excellent conversation starter. RIB EYE STEAK WITH MASH & GARDEN SALAD The steak dishes are always good here, with my personal preference being the rib eye. The steak was cooked as per order, which is always a pressure point when ordering steak. The meat was great after you scrape all the sauce off which is when I learnt to order the sauce on the side at this place. The salad which has a mayonnaise dressing which isn't overpowering and becomes a fresh addition to the steak. The mash was creamy and smooth which doesn't take away from the steak but once again, I would order that it all be served separately on the plate in order to appreciate all the individual flavours. George's Cafe in Burwood is a nice, western cafe located along the street outside Burwood Westfield, with heavy traffic and people flow during lunch time and especially during dinner hours! Inside the cafe, the room is very dark with slow music playing. Seats are well spaced apart so it didn't feel cramped. After a look at their menu, I was still undecided! The variety was huge! I've been coming to Georges for over 6 years and have never had an issue with the service. Prices have become ridiculously high however and the portions are enormous. Having said that I like how reliable it is for a late night coffee which is the cheapest thing on the menu.

PROS: Food portions are huge! Mains should be shared between at least 2-3 people, they appear pricey on the menu, but once you see the portion it is understandable. Food tastes exceptional, always steaming hot on arrival and beautifully presented. Menu is very extensive. Environment is quiet and seats and tables are comfortable.
CONS: Service is just average, staff are not very attentive. Food have taken more than 30mins to arrive each time I've been here, and require frequent reminding to staff.
Overall, beautiful food here, although the slow service could be frustrating.
My 4 friends and I (5 altogether duh!) visited George's Cafe for the first time ever and we have nothing but great things to say about it. First of all, the food is out of this world!! We ordered the Chicken breast with the mushroom cream sauce (my mouth is watering), the calamari rings and the T-bone steak - all came with chips and salad. As you can already tell we only ordered 3 things from the mains menu because the portion sizes are just so damn big! We all shared the food amongst 5 starving people and despite the sharing we STILL had food left. The price you pay ($26-$30) is worth the amount you get on your plate and also customer service is great. The place has good vibes and I enjoyed my first visit to this almost restaurant like cafe. Definitely will be going back soon. 5 stars!
Been there several times. Something different from usual cafes. Awesome ambience and most of all Halal meat. It's perfect place to spend a lovely evening. Though its bit busy in the weekends they take a while to serve but believe me it's worth a wait..
If you decide to dine at George's Cafe I would advise you to get the Chicken mushroom dish or anything on the menu that comes with chips and salad. Their portions are massive & the food is delicious! If you have a small appetite one plate is more than enough for two! Recommend for those who love a delicious portioned meal.

Proportions are massive, good to share a plate between two. I don't know why people are complaining, it's not a fine dining restaurant, it's like a family one. I've always enjoyed the food there, will definately fill you up ;)
This place is great for desserts. I've come back three times in the past few months just to get my fix. The prices are decent (~ $12 or Tiramisu) considering they are very significant in size - more than enough for two to share.

A super chill place to go whether you want Shisha or food, got the lasagne and it was really nice and homemade as it says in the menu, the service was super friendly and quick, got the Shisha within a minute of ordering and it was really good quality. The prices were a bit high but the portions are massive! Highly recommend this place for Shisha or food
