What a lovely small family restaurant! We went here after finding the restaurant on Zomato and decided to check it out because of its high rating.
The restaurant is small and very welcoming. We had the banquet and there was so much food! All the food was very well made and tasty.
What I loved most is the generous and friendly service we received here. We definitely will be back!
Love the food at Easy East! Have eaten here a few times as well as recommended it to friends who’ve enjoyed the experience and spread the word themselves. Fresh ingredients and some seasonal specials (some of which you’d have to enquire about and order ahead of your booking to secure the limited dish) and the dishes are always packed with flavour. One of my reasons for returning is their Toothfish which besides being simple but delicious in how it’s prepared, in itself is a dish I find rare and hard to come by in asian restaurants. Not cheap and the portion is small but very yummy.
One might consider the menu as not big (I reckon it’s reasonable) and the prices as expensive but I believe it’s justified as the taste that comes from the food is proof in the pudding to me. The tasting evokes impressions that the chef has put a lot of thought into - sourcing the ingredients to ensure freshness, the menu offering and the food prep. To me the food may sometimes taste like simple home cooking, but yet I know and appreciate that it is definitively and uniquely artistic in the chemistry of how it was put together that is the signature of Easy East’s kitchen.
The place is not a big place but it is always packed and parking can be a problem, so make sure you book ahead to avoid disappointment and rock up on time to hopefully secure a parking spot up front.
Went for dinner with a big group of friends. We had a great night the food was really lovely. Staff were very nice. Will definitely go back.
Good service! The place is best for groups or families as they have big tables. FRESH food but not many options. I wish they had Dumplings 🌟 Would still come back though!
Ordered 6 dishes. Good food. Nicely done. Prices are in the mid range, not as competitive as similar restaurants in Boxhill. Good service. Would come back.
Had the fried fish in spicy salt, braised pork belly with preserved veg and the hairy melon. All very good. I was surprised as this is a small suburban place but it is a really nice spot.
A lovely place for a great coffee, nice place and friendly atmosphere . Had my breakfast and it good. Ken is a great barista and makes awesome coffee.
Overall: good value for money. Authentic Cantonese cuisine. Refined food. Comfortable and baby friendly.
Definitely one of the most satisfying discovery in my Melbourne food journey. This little restaurant is consist of no more than 5 tables, isolated in an area not known for any decent food. This means there are hardly any activities around it in the evening. For it to be always full, it tells you half the story of how good they are.
I have been here many times with my wife. It is our GoTo place whenever we desire a fine Cantonese cuisine without checking our bank account balance beforehand. Overall, I like almost every dishes served here especially the braised pork belly with preserved vegetable, Chinese steak and steamed yam with pork slices.
This is also one of the few places that makes a decent steamed "Sun Hock" Fish. Unfortunately they don't have supply for larger Sun Hock (2-4kg) which will give a better texture and seafood sweetness.
Foodie Tip: Ask the waitress to recommend selection, it may result in pleasant surprises of excellent dishes not listed in the menu.Nelly Law
Excellent Cantonese cuisine cooked with love and high quality ingredients. Impeccable friendly service and cozy ambience.. Kids friendly too. Highly recommended and big thumbs up. You need to preorder certain dishes such as stuffed duck, crab noodles, snow fish etc to avoid disappointment. Home made dessert red bean soup is yum!
Being grown up in HK ever since I've moved to Aus I have always craved for authentic HK dishes. This is the place to be. Its owned by HKese, dishes remind me of restaurants back home, I dont think they have used MSG, can tell from their welcoming soup. Dishes are yummy and special, it is close to homemade authentic HK dishes. Love it.
Surprisingly good. Had dinner here on a Sunday night and was very impressed. Perhaps because it wasn't overly busy, our service was very friendly and attentive. More importantly, the food was excellent. With the exception of the overcooked green beans, everything was of very high quality and serving sizes were no smaller than expected. Will be back to try the 8 Treasures duck!
Reasonable service and food but serves are tiny and therefore overpriced. We had dim sum, spring rolls, an entre of BBQ pork tenderloin, steamed rice and Cantonese beef between 2 ppl at $55 and left hungry. If that had been about $35-40 I would rate highly, but at the price I'd say try Box Hilĺ or Glen Waverley. 6/10.
Great local restaurant. This is a tiny restaurant that is easy to drive by and not notice. Because of its size, bookings are essential.
Easy East serves up home style Cantonese cooking in a no-frills restaurant. The grumpy waitress mentioned by the others has retired, and the front-of-house is usually done by the owner's wife who is pleasant enough.
The food is consistent and well-cooked. Our favourites are the 8 Treasure Duck - a truly spectacular dish which is really well executed here. We also like the Dao Miu (bean shoot sprouts fried with garlic), the Patagonian Toothfish (both steamed and fried), and the pork belly and yam. I can not list all our favourites here, but nearly everything on the menu is done well.
Downsides - food might be a little underseasoned, probably because they don't use MSG.
Easy East - Chinese. Great delicious food for extended family dinners. However the downside is the slow service. But worth the wait.
Quality Choice. Salted prawn were amazing, as was everything else!
Very very tasty!
If you can look pass the gruff service, this place does a really good 8 Treasures duck. Enjoyed the Mandarin pork ribs and garlic prawns too. $25pp
Don't let the small size or unimposing feel of this restaurant put you off. If you want to try authentic, quality Chinese food then give this place a try. Not sure if there's a menu. We had a 5 or 6 course banquet organised by a friend and other tables looked to get the same courses. Each one blew us away, from the de-boned stuffed duck, to the crispy chicken, pork belly and prawns. All very inpressive, tasty and certainly authentic
This is a great little Resturant, set back from the street in a spot your likely to overlook. The food is fantastic, great flavor and beautifully presented. The food is consistent every time. A classy Chinese. meal. The banquets are great value.
Nihao MA! Food was delicious, small place and good for small party. Fancy food and service was absolute awesomeness.
Very nice Cantonese food, the duck was outstanding.
We have 2kg lobster ,super fresh and yummy!
Good Cantonese restaurant. It's catered more towards families and is a bit weathered, however the cooking and service in the place is good. It's good for their soup, which you might have to order in advance and their dishes are full of flavour without being too salty or sweet.
Good food. But on the expensive side.
Very simple restaurant. Excellent braised duck. Need to pre order.
Definitely returning to try other dishes
