Review The Urban Coffee House - Busselton

Sweet potato is very unique in here. Wood fire bread is dry, maybe Turkish bread is better to replace that . Coffee was nice. Staff are friendly and good service.

My mum, sister and I dinner at The Urban Coffee house for brunch on Saturday. It's a gorgeous cafe with plenty of indoor and outdoor dining available. Service was quick, the coffees delicious and the food was filled with flavour and fresh ingredients.

With the ever-present risk of Covid, our family decided to take a holiday in Busselton. So we ventured out on the first morning to find a nice cafe for breakfast, not expecting cafes that could possibly compete with some of the 'serious contenders' located in the alleyways of Fremantle or the tree-lined streets of Cottesloe... But.. Boy, were we in for a surprise!!! Our visit to the Urban Coffee House 'blew us away'!! Yet, its ignominious entry to the side of a Bussell Highway shopping centre (near the town centre) was not unlike entering the Tardis!! Once inside we discovered a well-lit Cafe with lots of attentive staff. There were little alleys surrounding the heart of the cafe. Each presented a variety of table locations for your meal, both private and not so private. In the central part of the cafe, there was a mouth-watering range of food offered, both savoury and sweet. Most were contained in the display glass display counters surrounding the service area and kitchen. We chose a table, ordered our food, and marvelled at the pleasant vibe of a top-notch cafe in our beautiful South-West. There was pleasant music in the background, and even a little play area in the corner for the young kids. I enjoyed an avocado- smash type meal, with bacon and a hint of chili. One of my guests enjoyed the local muesli with fruits, and there was a choice of granola as an alternative. Also a wide range of drinks including Chai teas, smoothies, coffees and juices was available. I enjoyed a 'detox' juice with apple, lemon ginger etcetera. If you're looking for the 'perfect marriage' between urban and country, look no further than the Urban Coffee House in West Busselton!

Detox juice was great, stuffed sweet potato was good, the chicken in Panini was a bit dry

Lovely Brekky place. 😊 Calm and peaceful though busy enough. Pets welcome outside. Inside seating available too. Enjoyed coffees, Vego Breakfast, Eggs Benedict.

Geez this place is amazing! Do not underestimate this cafe, just coz it’s tucked away and not right in town. The food was delicious and I will be back.

We had our morning coffee here plus a pear and oat muffin. Quite a large cafe, with a big, interesting menu. We were disappointed with the coffee - a little bitter and “thin”, not a nice taste. Muffin was delicious and staff were nice. Lots of parking

It wasnt busy when we visited this cafe. We sat outside and enjoyed the sun and breeze. It was a pleasant brunch with my partner. Staffs were friendly, food and coffee were great!

One of the best coffee in Busselton. Lovely and friendly staff. The atmosphere of the place is very cozy and homely.
Extensive menu for people with certain allergy too.
Love this place.

Gorgeous, busy cafe with kids corner, wide variety of food and drink across breakfast and lunch menu (red latte anyone?) and plenty of cakes including raw and gluten free options. Can’t wait to go back and try more home made goodness.

Smoothie bowls and the stuffed sweet potato. You know you want to. Go on. Do it. Treat yourself.

Good relaxing atmosphere, laid back, chilled, board games and comfy seating.

Warrior smoothie bowl was great.

"Vegetarian breakfast" was burnt toast that was as hard as cardboard on a pile of spinach and some cold vegetables. Asked for scrambled eggs, got poached. Coffee was sour and bitter and doesn't do 5senses any justice. Couldn't even drink it. $48 down the drain and still hungry. Service was average too.

Went here for the morning coffee because of the good reviews. There's lots of seating in an open area and you can choose your own beans which is cool. Coffee was decent even though long mac was a bit strong compared to other places where I have tried double shot standard sizes. Not worthy enough to revisit but if you're looking for a morning coffee in Busselton, you won't be disappointed.

Two visits, on each way of the journey to and from Margaret River. Exceptional food, healthy choices, delicious 5senses coffee and downright friendly staff. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

I ordered the vegetarian big breakfast but made it vegan, and what I was served was delicious! The homemade baked beans were amazing and the vegetables with the glaze were also delicious. The venue was cute, and service lovely, however I found the price a bit on the expensive side. If you're looking for gluten/nut/dairy/egg/meat-free meals, definitely come here!

Good coffee and breakfast wraps. Fast friendly service in an enjoyable atmosphere. Highly recommend

What a cool little coffee shop, loved it! The coffee was so amazing. If you are into healthy, hearty food definitely check this place out.

If you’re Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Nut Free, Vegan, Vegetarian, have kids or all of these then this is the place to be in Busselton.

We visited the Urban Coffee House during a short weekend break away from Perth and wanted to find somewhere for breakfast that ticked all our boxes. Tasty and nutrient rich foods freshly made on site with plenty of options for me – I’m Gluten, Dairy and Nut intolerant and have two kids to entertain and feed ;-)

I've heard great reviews so I eagerly anticipated my breakfast. I was so disappointed. I ordered French toast and pancakes and they looked great but as soon as I took a mouthful it was dry, powdery/floury and bland. Couldn't even finish it. I now require a jug of water just to try to hydrate my mouth.
Deathbychocolate
Good coffee but couldn't believe they wanted to charge $1 for an eftpos (not credit card) transaction under $10!! I've been to cafes and restaurants that charge up to 30c but $1 surcharge is absurd on a $4.50 coffee!

Another place in Busselton who got my order wrong. I then waited 20 minutes for the correct drink order. Terribly unorganised. Very young staff. I don't think the poor girls knew what was going on. There ended up being a line of 17 people going out the door at one stage. A little disappointed. Food not too bad.

We visited from Perth for the weekend and we will definitely come back for breakfast! I had the big breakfast with added baked beans and my girlfriend had the vego breakfast with added bacon - very generous sizes and great coffee!
Bec Alosi
One of the few places in Busselton that use 5Senses coffee beans. They make a decent cup of coffee. They have a multitude of gluten free and vegan options.

I recommend stopping off for a quick take away breakfast - they make amazing breakfast wraps and burgers. With a fresh juice or coffee to go, perfect way to start a long drive.

Great atmosphere & service :). Will admit upfront, I do enjoy a coffee @ Urban 3 or 4 times a week, read the paper and have been known to devour a "Big Breakfast" on a few occasions too :)

The URBAN Coffee House really has a great ATMOSPHERE, is CLEAN and BRIGHT and with an AMBIANCE of it's own as it's not like the usual staid and lacking of character coffee shops you see in Australia.
Virginia
Nice coffee, eggs Benedict just ok. Very disappointed about my sons kids pancakes. Says kids sized pancakes but only came with one small pancake for $7.50. What a rip off. I mentioned it to the waitress. She went away and came back to say sorry that is the pricing :-(
Food 2 Run
Stopped on the way to MR and coffee was Magic

Average coffee, served by one of the rudest staff members I've come across in a coffee shop. Won't be coming back.

Good and Bad Points. Great spot, kids are entertained in the play area, food is fantastic (great salads!). Kids tasting plate was a little dry, and the chai latte was way too strong & undrinkable. Other than that, service is very good and staff very attentive. Will return :-)
Papa Chino
Pleasant coffee house setting - well made coffee - good food with generous "country style" portions - quick service - could improve toast specialty bread would be better than standard sliced bread.

WE WERE NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL !!! TOTAL WASTE OF TIME, MONEY GOING THERE & IT IS NOT A CHEAP EATS PRICED BREAKFAST AT ALL !!!. My man's & my breakfast review;

WE WON'Y BE BACK !!!

MODIFIED: $8.50 each for 2 freshly squeezed oranges juices, that is not a "Cheap Eats" price !!!
We would had been happy to pay $6.00 maximum, which is reasonable !!!
That was $17.00 we of put in the car with juice (had to throw in some sarcasm here) !!!

My breakfast; IN 1 WORD, DIGUSTING: The Hollandaise tasted like bought mayonnaise with vinegar mix in it! Egg was overcooked, no runny yolk !!!

My Man's breakfast;
NO SEASONINGS, it was egg & milk which a young child could make !!!

LEATHERY BACON which he had to eat with his fingers as the knife couldn't cut through it !!!

MENU WAS WHAT YOU MAKE AT HOME & A LACK OF CHOICE: It was jazzed up with adding Feta & spinach leaves to meals !!!

2 POSITIVES: The orange juice we absolutely loved & the female owner who bought our meals to us gave excellent service !!!

A Prime exmaple of why hipsters should stick to drinking cofee and not making it.. Lots of staff standing around doing not much, ridiculous wait for a really bad cup of coffee.
Seriously, how hard is it to teach someone how to properly steam a jug of milk?
Oh, and "scrambled" eggs cooked in the microwave? Better off going to MacDonalds.

Amazing food, amazing coffee, amazing staff ! My favourite busselton coffee house :)
Believeinyourself
Good coffees and a wide variety of foods offered. They do gluten free and some raw things as well. The food is good quality and freshly made, toasties are super nice and great coffee.
Emma
Good coffee pit stop this morning. Five Senses beans, long mac could have been stronger (maybe that's just me though). Breakfast and lunch options look great. Kiwi memorabilia and kid-friendly.
Beth
Yummy food. Had the Thai chicken burger and loved the flavors. Really laid back. Music was awesome.

I really want to like this place coz it has everything going for it but breakfast today was ordinary like it came out of my own kitchen. Muesli fruit and yoghurt was actually raw muesli, a few strawberries and yoghurt and a super small serve - tasty enough but a bit rich for $10. The biggest letdown though was the coffee - my skinny cap was up sized to a mug without my permission - mug coffee is my pet hate and never ever as tasty or well made as a cup. Sure enough this one was awful - a really thin layer of froth and 99% coffee - not sure what beans they use but it was tasteless. And I had to pay more for the privilege! My husband's latte was pretty crappy too - also up sized by the cafe without his permission. Not sure why some cafes offer different sized coffees and then take it upon themselves to decide for you - poor service in my book. On the upside though, they have the best range of GLUTEN FREE CAKES I've seen in one cafe for ages and the GLUTEN FREE bread got a big thumbs up from our coeliac kids. Apparently cakes + breads are baked by a local guy who is also coeliac + while his stuff isnt available commercially, it can be ordered with some notice from the cafe. If you're gluten free, go to Urban Coffee House. If you're not, you could get better value and quality elsewhere.

Not sure if it was just because of extra business due to southbound but meal took 45 mins and we could see it sitting under the heat lamp ready for service for over 5 minutes.

Arrived at 2 o'clock and chairs were all stacked up and looked liked it was closing . I asked about food but they were closing at 3 pm so just ordered a coffee. Worst coffee ever! A cup of lukewarm milk yuk! Don't bother visiting here.

By far the best coffee in the south west! Service is great! Really friendly staff that always make you feel welcome. Will happily go out of my way for a coffee here! Highly recommended for anyone looking for the best coffee!

James Hanson. THE BREAKFAST,COFFEE AND SERVICE WAS ABOVE ALL
EXPECTATIONS !!!!!!!!

Best coffee in town with the friendliest service. Very good choice of sweets and healthy lunch options. Breakfast is very good, have eaten here often.
As I See It
Fantastic!. What an amazing breakfast! This place offers a comfortable casual spot to grab a bite. We stopped by for breakfast. It was fresh, tasty and great value. My only suggestion for the owners is that they open one near my home in Como :-)
Rip Cantrell
Wonderful veggie burger and curried potato stuff, great service from please ant staff.
Crum Duster
Japanese lanterns, New Zealand tribal artwork and a large friendly cactus situated within grasp of the children's play pen. The veggie breakfast could have done with another egg but the mixture of wide rimmed and narrow rimmed white plates was a tantalising distraction. Coffee was a delightful treat and green tea generously serves in an earthenware teapot. Service was informative and rich

Lunch review. Had a thai chicken burger. Was lovely. Wife and daughter had beef nacho's and they thought they were good. Nice setting with nice staff.

By far the best coffee and ambience in the south west. All the girls were lovely- xtremely friendly. We sat near the coffee machine and noticed that most customers new all the staff on a first name basis. Coffeeis great, food is nice and includes a range of dietary requirements.
Flickstar
We ordered coffees and hot chocolates and fruit shakes and all were good, but the real winner was the banana bread with date butter. Service was good. Recommend as a good option to the alternatives.

Big Breakkie - AMAZING value! After running a half marathon my other half still couldn't finish it! Service was very friendly and coffee was great too... We are Breakkie diehards and these guys did not let us down.
Bubblez
Extremely friendly and accommodating service. Relaxing music and favourably breakfast. My son loves this place as much a I do.
Frannyl
Disappointed. Once my favourite place. Took a friend to spoil her for lunch. Frozen bread roll poorly thawed. Vege burger overcooked and too hard to eat. Dry and tasteless. Pannini was also stale and dried out. My conclusion - dont go after 11 am. Chairs were packed up around us and floors washed beneath our feet. If tell me you are open until 3 ( yes I checked before ordering) dont start closing at half two I say. I wont be back. Off to The Pantry.

Breakfast. Went here for breaky on a week day morning, i understand it is a casual place but has very average service, unprofessional. Coffee was ok. Wont be going back
Jasmine Baker
Great atmosphere, great service. Awesome coffee. Yummy food. Great that they cater to gluten free diets with more than just orange almond meal cake!!
Beachbums
Great spot. We have made this a regular spot for breakfast when we are in Busselton. Love the ambiance and the coffee. The cakes aren't bad either!

Cheers, Beachbums

Fantasic!. As a die hard breakfast lover from Perth, I have to say their vegetarian breakfast was hands down, the best breakfast I've ever had. Will go there every trip I take down south from now on!

Coffee costs. Great coffee but but really expensive, even for WA.

Looking for somewhere to have breakfast in Busselton, we'd gone to The Goose yesterday but wanted somewhere a little cheaper. The Urban blew the Goose right out the window, for about half the price! Bacon was phenomenal, coffee was superb, eggs fantastic, servings ENORMOUS. We'll be coming back tomorrow morning, I think!
Courtney Mills
Ate here twice while on a weekend to bussleton. The coffee was great, food was yummy and the staff were all really friendly. Will be back next time we visit bussleton.

The Urban have built a loyal clientele with their consistent and approachable food, friendly service and excellent value. All day breakfasts are generous, and the no-nonsense lunches service customers with fast takeaway. A vegetarian hunger can be easily satiated and they are happy to modify certain dishes to suit vegans. 5 Senses beans are a solid foundation to a satisfying coffee, but the extra soy charge is regrettable.
