Review Byron Fresh - Byron Bay

Talha Kidwai
Had a lovely experience with family at this restaurant. Service is absolutely fabolous, staff really courteous & friendly and the service was quite quick. The place was quite crowded, definitely more than any other restaurant on the street. We had Smashed Avo Toastie (added poached egg), Big Byron Brekkie (Gluten Free option) & Kids pancake. I would highly recommend giving them a try. Note: Their granula is Gluten-Free but please reconfirm. Only feedback to restaurant. I read quite a few reviews about the consistency of poached egg. My egg was slightly runny on the white as well. Probably something to fix. Wishing the very best with your business.

Fantastic service, all waiters were friendly and we got our food quickly even when the cafe was full. They allow walk-ins which was great as other places were just booked out. Coffee, breakfast and cocktails were of good quality.

Great food and a good place for family’s to go for breakfast. The waiting time wasn’t very long and the place had its on water sprayer too cool you down. The staff were nice and asked every once in a while if you were hot. The only minus was that the food was expensive and extremely overpriced, which is why my review is getting 4 stars. It cost $18 for two poached eggs on toast, which in my opinion is quite expensive.

What a beautiful indie cafe! Always bustling, whether for brunch or dinner. We enjoyed dinner here, but the pastry cabinet was so enticing we had to come for a day time bite and coffee too ☕️🥐 My company enjoyed the cooked breakfasts, especially the pesto bagel. The coffee was consistently good, I came back daily for takeaway throughout our entire trip!

This restaurant is the One I always go first when I am in Byron 😍 the staff is extremely friendly, lovely and approachable ;) the restaurant always busy. 🎵Music is enjoyable! The popcorn chicken Bao Bun is strongly recommended! Super crispy :) Green curry salmon is good, curry is bit spicy but yum~ Lamb shoulder is tender and flavourable~

Coffee was nice even though there was no skim milk for my husband so he canceled his order. Smashed avo was disappointing as the avo was brown and borderline rotten. Toast was super crunchy and after clearly ordering for the three of us, only 2 orders came. Asked a staff member if the other dish was on its way and she said she would go check with the kitchen... she never came back. After feeding my hungry toddler my below average meal, my husband went to cancel the order that never came. They never even had it on the system. First time eating there and was very unsatisfied as I didn't even eat. Paid $22 for just gross avo on toast and paid extra for egg. Overpriced for what you get.

Omg, my favourite food while I was in Byron and only just remembering to leave a review. This place does hands down the best Gnocci I've ever had. Went back to have it a second time and they'd sold out 😬 I'll be back when I'm back in Byron again. Thanks so much for the delicious food 🥰

I'm not even exaggerating when I say they have the best hummus I have ever had! Years later me and my friend still talk about how amazing the food was here and how we would go back just for this! Clean, healthy but full of flavour! Right next to the beach and shops. Plenty of seating & friendly staff. Plenty of food choices as well. We will be back

Ordered fish tacos off the entree lunch menu.
Presentation and flavour were both good. Price and serving size were fairly under par.

For $18, two tacos is underwhelming. Moreso, the quantity of fish actually on the taco itself. One additional taco would have been a better serving, value and dish.
Anna
Really disappointing. Ordered two coffees and a croissant at a total of $19, which is insanely overpriced. The croissant was soggy and the coffees were bitter and unpleasant. Wouldn’t go again. The staff, however, were very nice, so this is no reflection on them.

I loved everything about this place. The food was fantastic, lots of vegetarian/vegan choices. A warm fire and blankets on a rainy day. The whole cafe vibe and decor was lovely, as well as the friendly staff.

Two meals here: dinner and, the next morning, breakfast. Really friendly service, great atmosphere in the heart of Byron Bay’s restaurant district and lovely food. My wife had a Poké bowl for dinner that was delicious, and I had a slow cooked pork neck with sweet potato fries. For breakfast I tried poached eggs with a salsa verde, avocado and feta on sourdough. Almost perfect (with the poached eggs a little over cooked). I also ordered a banana and peanut butter smoothie—delish. All up, great place well worth the money. Not cheap, but nothing in BB is.

I had the fresh fruit muesli at Byron Fresh with my boyfriend and since the muesli was $18 we were expecting it to be large and decided to share. Very glad we did because that was the largest muesli I had before! Super fresh, tasty and great value for money! We also had the berry iced tea. Definitely recommend to stop Byron Fresh if you are in the area.

During our holiday in Byron Bay, we decided to try out a few places and Byron Fresh was one of our favourite place. The food was delicious, the drink menu nice and refreshing. They also have GF options.
The atmosphere in the cafe was very pleasant, the cafe is located 200m away from the sea. Beautiful place!

We had an amazing vegan curry here, very evident it is made with love and good quality ingredients! Very friendly staff with great menu recommendations. Didn’t have to wait long at all for the food which was great considering how busy the place is! Would love to return here 😊
Geoff
A lovely cafe in the heart of Byron unhurried. Stone and Wood the local brew on tap. Stunning specials sensitively assembled. Waitstaff happy and functional and pleased to be waiting. Sit and watch the people. Thanks Wendy, Mathilda and of course Robbie. Don’t hesitate to stop.

Clearly the “go to” place in Byron at the moment. We arrived for breakfast and place was already lively, were still offered a choice of seating. Beautiful decor in the dinner big room. Service was swift and relaxed. Menu was full of great options. Coffee was spot on as were the meals. It was on the $$$ side but that’s what you find in Byron.
Heidi Fraser
We didn’t stop for food but the coffee was the best we found in Byron. Staff were very efficient and drinks came out in timely fashion despite being busy. Great vibe. Berry smoothies only ok.
Anton
Friendly servers however did not feel the traditional Byron charm and reminded me of a city Cafe, just with very small portions and simple ingredients that don't warrent the price they have on meals.
Julian
Had lunch here today, the service was great despite being busy. The food came out in good time, the haloumi roll was one of the best I’ve had, especially with the addition of egg in it which was pretty strange but good. The berry smoothie was doable.. but nothing special, if you’ve got the cash it’s a good place to blow it. And the high price of admission prevents your garden variety bare foot oxygen bandits from spoiling your meal with the moist and sour smell of unemployment and pipe dreams.

Great location for a lazy brunch in Byron. Decent sized menu to satisfy an array of tastes and dietary restrictions. Staff were friendly and helpful and the venue had an upbeat and vibe though the food was fairly average. One of my poached eggs was cooked all the way through and my meal wasn’t overly hot when it had arrived. Meals were also on the higher end of the spectrum.

Muy buenos bowl de ensaladas que engañan... esas que no te las puedes terminar de lo contundentes!! La mía estaba buenísima, tenía zapallo, semillas, mix verde y miles de otros ingredientes! Está muy bien ubicado.

Enjoyable breakfast here, staff are friendly and efficient, food is tasty and fresh!

It does get really busy and there can be a wait for tables. I also thought the menu was a little pricey for breakfast but it was really tasty so I was okay with it!

Love this place - which is probably why we keep returning. Staff are great (friendly, efficient). Food and drinks fantastic. The only dish I wasn’t a fan of, was the zucchini fritters (a bit too mushy for me, though my partner liked it). Otherwise can recommend the recharger smoothie, haloumi roll, eggplant platter, and fresh salad. The sticky date dessert is satisfying, and there is a chocolate cake/mousse dessert which is definitely worth trying!

Awful food - over cooked and over sauced. Terrible service - food took a long time to arrive without any apologies. Also was told that we would be fine getting a table at 6pm but arrived to find the place near capacity.
Lisa P
Okay where to start. 5 tables that arrived after us ordered, received their food and drinks and ate before us. Took an hour to get our mains - we were literally forgotten about while everyone around us was served. We're told that we couldn't pay the bill half cash half card which is ridiculous so I told the waiter to go and check again because he had no idea. The food- not greatest to be honest. The balinese chicken curry was unseasoned and not spicy or flavoursome. The beef burger was small and the portion of chips was small. We even waited forever to get the bill even when we told them we were finished. Anyway, won't go back. There are heaps of other nice options just down the road.

Byron fresh is a really quirky building and I love the decor. There are not many menu items to choose from for breakfast if you want something savoury. We had the Bircher and the granola. I enjoyed the granola. It was a pretty big serving and for a good price. The Bircher was maybe a tiny bit overly sweetened. Coffees weren't bad - they have bonsoy 👍 however the coffees seemed to have a lot of foam and not filled up all the way. Overall wasn't bad. They had heaps of pastry and bakery items to choose from and I will probably go back for take away coffees and pastry only.
Xiaoniaolike
I m very satisfied. I choose the place for my dad's birthday. It doesn't let me down. The food, service and the environment are all quite good! I will definitely go again.

My friend and I drove down to Byron Bay for a cheeky mid-week get away. Whilst in town, we popped into this very cute (and very busy) cafe. Given it was school holidays the place seemed to be particularly busy for a Wednesday. I ordered the Beef Burger. The Beef Burger consisted of a homemade beef pattie, cheese, homemade tomato relish, pickles, tomato and lettuce with a side of fries on am organic brioche bun. The meal arrived on a wood platter, as is the on trend these days. I'm not usually a lover of burgers and fries. However, this was next level, elevating the humble burger to gourmet style and flavour. The brioche bun was divine. The beef pattie was plump and full of flavour. All in all, this was very delicious. I literally couldn't finish all my fries due to the generous serving size of both the burger and fries. I also loved how when I asked for tomato sauce this was provided free of charge, no questions asked!
Comc
Really enjoyed the granola bowl, produce was fresh & staff were inviting. The only downfall being breakfast ending before midday. Would go back.

Being in Byron Bay and a mecca for hippies in Australia and an icon for that idyllic Australian beach lifestyle. It’s cool if that’s your thing. . So of course, their cafés reflect this beach lifestyle, especially the Byron Fresh café. It has a beach shack kinda vibe and the staff look like they’ve just come in for a surf while being efficient and quick.
Jessica
Great location and decor. Staff was really friendly and food and drinks were really yum! Good experience, although I would say it is very overpriced. $82 dollars for 2 cocktails and a burger and fish a chips. 10% surcharge on a Sunday is very cheeky, and wouldn't even be found in Sydney...

Have been coming here whenever I've been in Byron for years now... the food and service is always decent.
We came for breakfast and got the Bangalow Roll and the granola, along with an iced latte and a double shot latte.
When the coffees first came out we immediately noticed the double shot latte was very weak, however the waitress came back after a minute and explained they had forgot the double shot and remade it.. the second one was much better.
The iced latte says it has a double shot, however it was still on the weak side and could've used less milk/more coffee.
The food was excellent - the granola was absolutely beautiful with fresh berries and a poached pear. The rehydrated figs were not my cup of tea - fresh figs would've been much nicer but overall was delicious.
Service was great despite them being very busy.
Could work on their coffee but would still happily return.
Foodiefoodfood
Positives: nice location, great decor and atmosphere. Coffee was quite good. Service was fast and friendly. My partner ordered the vegan power and it was pretty good ($23).

Negatives: I ordered the eggs Benedict special and it was pretty crap. Barely any sauce, bread was hard, bacon was overcooked and hard to cut. Could have made this at home but instead payed $20 for it.

Overall not bad, but the food just isn't good for the exorbitant prices here.
Rose Rose
Good quality food, nice service . We ordered pork sandwich, quinoa & zucchini hotcakes, haloumi roll & fish chips. Everything was fresh as the name of the cafe, Byron fresh. The portions were large too.
Sam
Had lunch here on our first day in Byron. Really delicious food and lots of options. Peppermint and lemon iced tea was also great. A bit expensive though.
Latteme
My favorite cafe in Byron bay..just couldn't stop going back..lovely food, 5.0 even though I may only give their gluten free burgers a 3.5...everything else was perfect, enjoy your cocktails while listening to the band playing at their door step, it was so amazing and relax!
Eatwithmyfoodsafari
Large corner cafe on the main road with bright, friendly service, fast delicious food and Campos coffee. The "Big B" breakfast with eggs, bacon, hash browns, and mushrooms had the best roast tomatoes I've had in ages. We may have escaped Sydney but not Sydney prices at $25 plus a 15% public holiday surcharge.
Patopeaking Eats And Runs
I orderd the Big B $25 and Campos coffee $4. The food was nice. Atmosphere was pleasant and the waitresses with tats was errrr hot.. 15 % for holiday surcharge was bit steep imho..
Hayley
Busy night and had to wait for a table but the food was good (salmon was delicious, steak also good apparently). Drinks were nice. Service was good and the place has atmosphere. Menu also offers some decent variety.

Not much of the Byron vibe atmosphere here, feels a little main stream.
Sweet Potato wedges are AMAZING!
Higher prices so watch out if you're in a budget

Staff very attentive! Sat outside while an amazing busker performed. My partner and I ordered the steak and the slow cooked beef which was absolutely sensational. Not only was the atmosphere great, the food and service stepped up to the mark! I will tell my Sydney friends about this place when they visit Byron! A great place to try guys!

Within all those cafes and restaurants this one shines. Yummy pastries, great coffee, lovely staff, beautiful and comfortable space. We also enjoyed the live music by a singer and guitarist playing at the front. We enjoyed it so much. Would go back for sure.
Anthony
The night was busy for the staff and the place was buzzing - but this did not detract from the experience. The staff were attentive and our food was served promptly. We were really please with the quality of the experience.
Georgie Rathbone
Terrible customer service.

Allergies that were clearly stated to the waitress were ignored and when the food was delivered and onion found in it (said we were allergic and wanted to know if the quinoa and zucchini hotcakes had any onion or garlic in them) the waitress gave us so much attitude, rolled her eyes and huffed. It was VERY unnecessary and disgusting customer service. She then continued to be disrespectful as the menu was looked over and more questions asked as their not so extensive lunch menu left little choice. Once a meal was found it took 20 minutes for them to make lettuce leaves, with goji berries, bacon and lumps of feta... Which was 24 dollars.. Extremely over priced. When we got the bill the quinoa hotcakes were still on the menu and when the next waitress was told that we didn't order it she got very defensive and again rude snapping at us when we simply were wanting to make her aware that we did not eat it as we did not want to pay for it.
We gave them a second chance this morning and went to get 3 take away coffees and a hot chocolate. It took them 20 minutes to make them and they stuffed up a simple flat white order... And the coffee was nothing to get excited over.

No apologies were made to us in either experience.
Staff were rude and did not know what they were doing. It is over priced and not worth it. Save yourself the disappointment, wait and money and go to the Balcony.

Came here for dinner. I had the fish and lamb shanks. Lovely food and grat atmosphere. Had brownies for desert and was so yummy!! Highly recomended! Staff were also great!

Such a cool vibe here, and a great layout. We sat up on the stools overlooking the popular street, and ordered a pulled pork sandwich with aioli for lunch.

The bread was some of the nicest that I've tasted, and was the highlight of the meal. Also grabbed a chocolate croissant when leaving, that was very tasty. Service was decent, and this is definitely a cool spot to head on a warm day!

Came here for Brekky three times this week on holiday in Byron because the food is so good! Such fresh delicious meals and good coffee! Highly recommend you pop in!
Rebecca
A nice spot in the main restaurant area in Byron. The lamb with roasted fennel was a great dish and the blueberry Mojito was a nice twist on the traditional. If the coffee is any good it would be a nice spot for brunch
Hadeed Pourshafighi
Great place for a hearty lunch. Was very quick with service and meals tasted great. The location is so close to the beach, which is likely why the prices are a little high, but I'm only nit picking. I recommend the place!
Casualfoodie
Came here with a group of 6 and everyone was satisfied with their meals. The overall atmosphere in the restaurant was really lovely and the waitress was friendly enough. I had the fish tacos which were delicious, and I would have ventured back for a second round if I hadn't set my mind on not going to a place in Byron twice as I wanted to try as many different places as possible. My friends who got the ribs and burgers were also happy with the size of their meals and the taste. Only downfall was no split bills.
Bobby
Disappointing experience, unfortunately. Firstly, the staff made the biggest deal of us ordering just one meal and drinks. (I had eaten and my companion was hungry). Waitress who took our order crinkled her face and feigned confusion and two different people then came to "clarify". Really not sure what the big deal was, especially as there were many free tables and, you know, it's not Paris. Secondly, the food was deep fried and not very nice, according to my fellow diner. Pretty strange for a place that calls itself "fresh" and goes on about healthy living in its menu. Finally, the smoothies were bland (basically frothed up milk) and for the price extremely disappointing. Could have done far better (food, service and price) at the local fish and chip shop.
Joe Brogno
Consistently great coffee and food. Quick service from the wonderful staff. Probably our favourite place when visiting Byron. Charming decor and they often have really good buskers out front which is a bonus. Go there!
Jessica Rose
Wow, the waitstaff actually look you in the eye here! Very rare for Byron bay! Excellent food and smiling service. Right near the beach, too. Haloumi roll is delish.
Katealizabeth
Came here for brunch and was amazing. Was seated quickly, the atmosphere was great and the food quality is perfect. The only fault I had was the salt shaker was broken - hardly a deal breaker and that it was a little pricey but you get what you pay for. Large food sizes, fresh and free range it's living up to the hype!
Bulking Steerco
Visited Byron Bay for the weekend. Great little spot for a cafe and always busy. Went for lunch and the food was okay but I feel everything was a bit overpriced for what it is that you're actually getting ($22-$26), organic or not. Sweet potato wedges were the highlight.
Lauren Marino
Was so happy to find this place open past 9pm on a Wednesday when we finally made it to Byron. Delicious and we'll priced cocktails and a super refreshing dinner. I had the roast pumpkin, avo, goat's cheese, broccolini dish and my friend had the fish and chips and we had garlic bread to share. Was a tiny bit overpriced in our opinion, being from Melbourne. But it was delicious
LiveLoveFood
Gorgeous little spot for lunch, however I thought that it was slightly overrated. I think breakfast or dinner is the better time to enjoy a meal here. Although the burgers looked good for lunch if you enjoy them. Cute little bottles for juices.
Sean Wilson
This was a nice little Breakfast place with really cool decor. Food and coffee was amazing and was located in the centre of town right near the beach. If ever in Byron Bay ensure you have breakfast there at least once.
Jarrod Booth
Love this place, end up coming here almost every time I go to Byron. Very tasty, healthy food, a creative menu, great vegetarian options, attentive staff and quick service, and just a great spot for people watching in Byron. Can't go wrong!
Simplelife
lovely ambience, average food - nice environment with live acoustic singer and good waitstaff, but my med-rare eye fillet was chewy and the tomato chutney/sauce it was served on had little flavour. the sweet potato chips were tasty although some were slightly undercooked. if you're after a flavorsome and satisfying meal, suggest you skip this venue.
Fish
Great spot in the ideal position. Sitting in the sun with a coffee doesn't get much better! Great range of options on the breaky menu too.
Cool vibe and looks the part.
Louah
Went here for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Quickly seated, friendly and attentive staff. Good atmosphere people watching with a muso quietly busking on the corner. Menu was good, food was perhaps a little over priced but came out in reasonable time and was quite tasty. I wasn't overly excited by my fish and chips but my partners eye fillet was absolutely delicious. Not a bad feed for dinner in Byron Bay, however don't expect to go for a cheap eat.
Charlotte
Good food, great atmosphere! We came for a cider and stayed for four hours and dinner. YES!
Calum
Good food great service. We came for breakfast. Originally went to the balcony up the road and waited over ten minutes at our table without even being brought a menu so left. This place is much better!
Declan Pearey
Great food! My partner and I recommend the bangalow roll and the organic banana bread for breakfast. The food was fresh and the flavours worked really well! The cafe was in a good little area and staff were friendly!
David Hanlin
Good service, meal sizes are a little small for the money. Coffee is great. In short you get what you pay for all be it meals a little small
Sk
Was drawn in by the busy corner but should have gone further in the laneway to the smaller eateries. Overpriced and uninteresting menu. Would have liked to see bigger serve too.
Allie Broughton
Fresh does pretty nice meals for dinner, but skip this place for breakfast! Eggs Benny is one burnt, small piece of toast with the usual topping. $18 and ridiculously small! My friend ordered this and I was appalled. I said to her "is that $18" and the waitress smiles and says "welcome to Byron". Well, smartar** waitress, I'm at Byron all the time and I eat out a lot, and I've never seen a rip off quite like that! Even at the classier places around.
Jogore
Creative food. We went there on a Sunday evening, quite early, for dinner as we have young kids. It was busy and there were a couple of other families but we got a table. The staff were cool, could have been interpreted as a bit offhand but we found them to be attentive. We were served our food quite quickly and the best bit was the food. It was tasty, interesting and aesthetically enjoyable. It might be a little pricey but not so bad.
Phillip John Douglas Schinbein
In spite of the food being quite good, and our server being lovely, the food was rediculously overpriced. It costs roughly three dollars to make a beanie and charging $18 for it is absurd and somewhat insulting.
Jess Stewart
Just stopped in for dinner because the place looked nice and had some live music playing. Oh my goodness I was not expecting it to be so fantastic!!!
I had the pork and my partner had the zucchini fritters and we could have both easily stuffed a second plate into ourselves. The food was fresh, tasty and just the right size.
I WILL be coming back!!
Rochelle Cote
Fantastic spot, highly recommend! Fish cakes (special) are really good... Could take or leave the coconut brown rice with, but could have eaten the fish cKes all night
Caish
Perfectly poached eggs and good campos coffee. Great seat near the fire! I want to go back and try the chia pancakes
Emily Cramb
Came here for breakfast and got the Byron balance.
Hands down best breakfast I have ever had. Perfect
Katherine
Great atmosphere at night. Got a table quickly at 9pm, ordered quickly, got food quickly. Efficient, friendly service, good food!
Sarah W
Had breakfast here 7 years ago and it was great. 7 years later and what a disappointment. Scrambled egg on toasted sour dough resembled a nuclear disaster. Egg we're so over cooked they didn't even look like eggs and dry toast with no butter. No thanks.
Brion
Don 't waste time or money- complete shambles. Walk down the road to the Eatery.
Cladam
Not worth it!. We dined here for breakfast on Sunday, we understood it was a busy time and they managed to clear a table and seat us within 10mins of arriving. They took our meal and drink orders at the same time and we thought it strange that our meals came out well ahead of our drinks. A few of the meals were quite cold, and when you are spending quite a bit for breakfast, you would expect them to be hot. Attitude from some of the staff, was also quite off putting and we will not be giving them our service again! Was definately not worth it!
Matt
Out of a jar!!. Breakfast is supposed to be one of the highlights of the day. Spiced Mushrooms needs to be than a jar of sweet chilli poured over some mushrooms on a piece of bread. As for the service, we felt like we were an inconvenient guest. Will not do that again.
Lani
Can't believe all these bad reviews. Our experience here was incredible. Probably one of our favourite restaurants! Steak was so good and the cocktails were delicious! I would recommend this place!
Mariechan
Bland. No flavour. Over priced for what we got. Ordered a salad to share. Just a few lettuce leaves not even a tomato. Pasta of day very ordinary.
Georgie Louise
Nice food but stuffed up my order. Just a little bit too much attitude for my liking too.
Damian
I was stunned to see the poor reviews, as we enjoyed everything about Byron Fresh - enough to go twice in one day.

For a sunny day's brunch, it was perfect, with sliding glass doors and outdoor tables making a great atmosphere. I ordered the pancake as recommended by Lonely Planet, and was blown away by the sun-imagery inspired creation drizzled in maple syrup, with fruits and even mint leaves on top. Balance of flavours, size, etc was excellent.

We went back at night, to a candlelit table under a heater on the street, opposite a guitar-drum duo and down the street from a flamenco singer. They were both excellent bands, creating an atmosphere where we ended up talking to the tables on either side. The roast pumpkin penne and rocket/goats cheese/prosciutto salad were again perfect in quality and quantity; decent portions, but delicious and a bit creative. The gelato affogato was also absolutely right - one scoop of good quality vanilla with an Expresso on the side. The waiter thanked me by my first name as we paid, having read it from my card; he hadn't even been our waiter.

Our experience was perfect both times - stylish but not pretentious, good delicious but not unsubstantial. 10/10.
Sonja
Had breakfast here today, average food with the slowest service ever!! This place has a fab location, they need to pick up their game, wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend it.
Plo
Still waiting on my dinner over an hour later (I'm cranky)
Ben Musial
Terrible kids fish and chips. Long wait for groups. Great service though. Platter overcooked too

Eat only if desperate.Only good for drinks and be seen. Not impressed at all. Decided to have early dinner there. Since we were table no. 2 to place our orders, our orders still took a long while to arrive. We ordered crispy pork belly , a spicy pasta with prawns, their signature burger, fish of the day salt crusted and a vegetarian dish - 7 vegetable terrine served with saffron rice. Nothing fantastic about the food, portions average, and pork belly was tough. Pasta was all about spice and that was it. The highlight of our evening there was finding a piece of meat in the vegetarian dish. Poor vegetarian friend actually chewed it thinking it was zuchini and realised it was too stringy. Spat it out, showed server, who went to check with chef who could not give any explanation about how the meat ended up in the terrine. They apologised, offered to re-do the dish or dock off the item from the bill. Friend was too traumatised and could not bear eating anymore from the restaurant and thus dish was not included in the bill. But this was only after the bill came to us with the item still in the bill. Not impressed with the service. Nothing adverse but nothing to shout about. Other than great alfresco street side dining ala streets of Byron Bay, and to get drinks to be seen and to see, would not recommend this place for dinner.

I have eaten at Byron Fresh twice now and overall have had some good food and service. The first time I went there was for breakfast. We did wait awhile but it was a busy Saturday morning so the place was buzzing. We had some great dishes - my husband had a classic Bacon and eggs cooked beautifully. I had poached eggs and they were excellent served with salmon. Tonight four of us had dinner mid week so it was a lot quieter. We had antipasto to start which was top notch. My friend and I had a special with salmon and prawns. The prawns were not cleaned properly which I thought was unforgivable for any half decent restaurant. I did mention it to our waiter who simply said he would advise the chef. We never did hear back on that. The other meals were great - meatballs and spaghetti and sausage and mash which the boys loved. This is a really decent place if u want reliably good mid priced food and whilst the prawns were a bit disappointing, I do recommend this as a lovely place to check out for breaky, lunch or dinner.
Krish
The Pre & Post surfing hangout!. The surfing trip to Byron has become an annual trip for me and my group of mates. We eat almost every meal at Fresh because
a: the meals are fantastic
b: the meal sizes are huge (almost too big)
c: the staff are very friendly (and good looking)
d: its great value for money

I always recommend this place to all my friends visiting Byron and they have always love it!

Fresh- Highly Recommended!. I've been going to Fresh since I was a child, (now about 15 years), and it continues to be my favourite restaurant in Byron. The food is always impeccable, the service is efficient and friendly and the vibe/ambience is very relaxed, epitomising Byron Culture! Highly recommended!

Best Coffee in Byron. I have been coming here every time I visit Byron and the Coffee and Food is great every time. This place does get busy and you will have to wait a little but it is worth it. They serve Campos Coffee and it is perfect every time. The food is great and the service is friendly. A must visit when in Byron
Julie
What a disappointment. It was the last night of our holiday and we'd got engaged that day so were out to celebrate a special night. After looking at a few places around town we decided on here for the atmosphere and the people watching. We were seated promptly by the manager and our entree taken and a beer for my partner. When the manager came back she took our mains orders and then we waited and waited. I think at least a half hour... and then our mains came out - no entree! we asked about our entree and the waitress went back to rectify it, we waited about another 20 mins (beer finished and me pregnant so starting to feel sick). Then the entrees come out and the waitress wanted to give us our mains and entrees at the same time! For a start the table was too small to fit the plates, and secondly, our mains would have got cold. When we said we wanted to eat our entrees first the waitress/,manager chucked a bit of a hissy fit and told us we had ordered in a strange way and it was OUR FAULT! Ummm, you take the orders and manage the process not us. So we had our entrees then had to wait about 40 mins for our mains to come out, with the waitress/manager studiously ignoring us. I wasn't drinking as I am pregnant but some other wait staff offered us some drinks and apologised for the wait and suggested there would be a discount on our bill. finally our mains came out, the waitree/manager slammed them down on our table, spilling the water and went off in a huff. By this time I was feeling pretty down and disappointed, what happened to our celebratory night? This was meant to be a special meal for us. When we went to pay I asked for a discount, having in mind the entrees could be taken off, but the manager/waitress told me that we had "ordered in an orthodox way" and we should take the blame, she wanted to start and argument with us I think. I am pretty sure that she forgot to put the entree order down, and then forgot to put the main order down, and it was nothing to do with us. We got the beer my partner had for free. I was totally disapponted and it spoilt our special night. The food was great but I would not recommend this to anyone. What a let down and she totally spoilt our night and the memories of our engagement. Don't eat here.

Fresh by name, not by nature.... In the majestic beachside haven of Byron Bay, what could be more simple than a Sunday breakfast in the sun? Straight up full breakfast/Eggs Benedict/Omlette were the orders of the day. Not to be be disappointed twice, we thought to give "Fresh" another go after twelve months rest. Comfortingly, it appeared particularly popular. Silly Willy. The vague curio at the front of house was no help, and indeed appeared to lack a role in servicing of the cafe, save for blocking access for customers keen to leave it. Our table came complete with a premiere mural from the in-house resident artisan - "Dry Egg on Smear Top" was the obvious title, but unluckily for other patrons it was covered from view by the arrival of our food. A lack of OJ for all but one lucky sole at our table of three, due to its uncommonness with breakfast or an accomplished miscalculation by the Chef du jour when ordering "Fresh" produce, was disappointing. I guess it's understandable though, given citrus is so difficult to find in August. The mushroom side too, was conspicuous by its absence, whilst the water-logged spinach paid homage to split and weak hollandaise. Coffee - simple to say, difficult to make well; and they don't. Don't be hoodwinked by the costings on the menu - this is a venue where price certainly doesn't equal quality.

Relaxing afternoon. (1hr free wifi!) I really wanted a beer, and no one wanted to drink with me. And Byron Bay is the home of Stone & Wood! One of my favourite beer. Pacific Ale specifically. Here I am, happy hour. I had no idea about happy hour or even the cost of a beer, just wanted one. The staff was kind enough to let me know that happy hour is starting in 1 minute. I didn’t order any food though (changed my mind an hr later, see below), since I just had lots of coffee, and some food at Hog’s Breath. This is such a comfortable place! It has live music. The interior is adorable. With wooden fans spinning, everyone is incredibly friendly.

My breakfast looked amazing! I dug into my meal and soon realised why it was so quick. The eggs were cold and so were some of the other bits of food, I can’t remember which one. I was really disappointed with it. Everyone else commented on how cold and terrible the food was as well.

At first, I thought that there was not enough sauce, nor was the portion big or small, it was just average .. But I was surprised when I started eating, I found that they weren't selfish with their seafood.. as the Salmon was massive, it might not look like it from these photoes, however, these salmons were wrapped up around each other, but when you open them and unwrap the salmon, they were loooong ..

The menu looked decent enough - um, hello confit Bangalow pork belly with chorizo, caramelised apples and jus - but a dose of coffee was all this city boy needed. Great spot for people-watching, might I add.
