Review Duk - Byron Bay

Beyond delicious! This restaurant has a narrow menu, serving a simple offering of rice, greens and meat but do not for one second consider this to be a negative for they do what they do very well... the menu needs no more. Go to this restaurant, eat what they offer, leave happy - simple!! Clean, fresh food and outstanding service. This is a lively restaurant in Byron’s funky Bay Lane, a perfect new addition to this international gastro treat of a street!!

Argghhhh this was sooooo good!!!! The menu doesn't read well so don't be put off by its simplicity because the food was outstanding as was the service Between 3 of us We ordered a fried eggplant thing that was an entree special but needs to be on the set menu because it was delicious. The pickles were so yum and not overly sweet. Half roast duck that came with hosin sauce and roast pork belly which also came in a delicious glaze. This was serves with Asian greens and rice. Such a simple meal but honestly our best meal in Byron over our 5 day holiday. Go here!

If you haven't eaten here & from out of town do yourself a favor & have a meal here. The staff are great & all make you welcomed, you can watch the chef's in action cooking your meal. The line up to eat if worth the wait, highly recommended restaurant in Byron Shire.

Ok without being memorable. Small dining area, cramped space, very limited beverage list, food ok but not great. Tofu deepfried batter too thick, duck good sized portion, pork apparently nice, greens ok, rice very expensive .. we were given more than we ordered, ate less than a bowl, charged $32.00 for 2 bowls. Service was good, the wait staff pleasant. First chinese restaurant I've been to, where none of the staff are chinese.

Great food, great service. Jeremy and Sarah have created an amazing dining experience in one of the up and coming eat streets of Byron. Well worth a visit- recommend the duck with Brookies Gin on ice - awesome

Ticks so many boxes! All ethically sourced and supporting local producers, amazing food (the eggplant is a must, so much flavour...and so is the duck...and the pickles!!!), great staff who actually have personality and care about what they serve, quick service, prime spot for people watching without people brushing by you as they walk. The menu has as much as you would need, the plates are perfect for sharing - no FOMO! Can’t wait to come back!

As a lover of Chinese food, especially duck, be it Peking Duck, Pi-Pa Roast Duck or Braised Duck. I couldn't leave Byron Bay without trying DUK - Tastiest Roast Duck in The Bay. We ordered a rice bowl with crispy pork belly and steamed greens, another bowl with the roast duck, and a plate of BBQ pork/Char Siew. The roast duck tasted fine. It was flavoursome, tender and the skin crispy. I also like the homemade red chilli paste, it's spicy and tangy. The tastiest duck in the bay? That might be true in Byron Bay but certainly not out of Byron Bay. The crispy roast pork belly was a big letdown as it was not only not crispy, it was soggy. The flavour of the pork ordinary. In fact, the entire bowl tasted soggy, including the rice, due to the sauce and water from the steamed green. If you can't serve your crispy pork belly crispy, it really should be taken off the menu! The Char Siew was a shocker. There was no "char" flavour, tasted bland and too chunkily cut. These chunky pieces of pork was just plain awful and not Char Siew!!! The BBQ sauce also tasted wrong. We had one piece and left the whole plate untouched. For about $25 each bowl and plate, it's way overpriced for such quality. I would come back for the duck but certainly not for either the Crispy Pork Belly or the Char Siew. This is definitely not a good example of good Chinese BBQ! DUK is licensed. They serve only four varieties of wine all by Jilly Wines. We tried the Rosé and Red Blend of White Wolf Tempranillo Shiraz Cabernet Franc, unfortunately they both are of the very light taste we did not like them at all. They really should be BYO like the rest of the restaurants in the Byron Lane, instead they tried to be more upmarket but I don't think that worked as these wine tasted cheap and the overall food quality is just not good enough for an upmarket restaurant although the waitresses were very friendly and attentive.

Absolutely amazing food, beautiful flavours!! Would definitely recommend the roast duck as it is exquisite! Lovely friendly staff with a great vibe, would've definitely returned if it wasn't our last night in byron
