Review Great Northern Hotel - Byron Bay

Came here for dins at around 8pm on a Friday night. Place was busyyy, locals were ready to party haha. Got the chicken parmigiana and rump steak. Requested medium rare and got medium. A friend request medium and got well done ๐Ÿ˜… but still a solid feed. Pricy for pub food, chips were well fried but otherwise the meal was nothing special and very average. Appreciate staff being accomodating and getting ketchup and cutlery for us! Live music is a bonus. Come here for vibes not food.

A great Aussie pub within Byron Bay .. for cold drink I liked the idea of having a cold one or more .. whilst watching the world go by outside , through the large pub windows Friendly service The Northern .. also has TAB & pokies

Was asked to wear a mask as soon as we arrived no where else in Byron asked us or even were wearing them. One of the Bar staff had his hanging around his chin most of the time. The other bar person never one the whole time. They have a sign up no mask no service. After I EAS served with a mask others went up without masks and were served. The people who brought the drinks and food didn't wear mask same barman. All I ask for is consistency. They are not required now in Nsw so please just get rid of them here. The meals were big and enjoyable it was just the above that put me off going there. The staff apart from the Food waiter must have had a bad day or something. He was very friendly and helpful. The place only had about 10 customers so it wasn't busy in our section.

Food was tasty. Better than I had expected when heading to the pub. Staff were friendly and helpful and the aircon was nice and cold after a hoy and humid day

Awesome pub, great beer line up, excellent entertainment... The 2 blokes on the piano were legit AF! Keep up the good work! ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐ŸŽน๐ŸŽผ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿฅƒ

Best night out in Byron Bay!! The staff were super nice and friendly, I order the grilled salmon and potatoes and that was cooked to perfection, and to top it off the 2 live piano players were simply incredible they had the whole pub ( the young and the oldies) up singing and dancing the whole night well done! Everyone at our table had an awesome night!

The lack of customers, when every other establishment in Byron Bay was busy, should have been a warning but we went in for lunch anyway. We started with beers because their cheapest bottle of wine was about $50! We then ordered Reuben sandwiches. Reuben would have been ashamed to have his name on the food that came out. I was expecting nice thick slices of home (restaurant) cooked corned silverside. Wrong! They weren't even slices from the deli section of a supermarket. They were from a packet, most likely from Aldi next door. The cheese also was from a package of slices. The sauerkraut and sauces also straight off a supermarket shelf. But wait - it gets worse. The menu said it would come with chips. It came with potato chips alright. Crisps. Probably home brand not even Smiths. Enough about the horrible food and expensive drinks. The toilet walls are covered with graffiti. Nothing artistic, just scribbled tags that should have been cleaned off. They don't clean the toilets. They probably don't clean the kitchen either. The sooner the Northern shuts down the better.

This is a great pub. Had a great session and I felt that I was in a pub that cares. Live music massive tick. Could have a better range of beers and spirits.
