Review Tan Viet Noodle House - Cabramatta

Minx Chique
I have known this restaurant way back when they were a tiny, seven-table restaurant inside another shopping building in Cabramatta, have been a long-time customer. Happy to report, the food is exactly the same as. Generous size noodle bowls, deliciously crispy skin chicken. I also love their 'three colours bean' drink (also known as halo halo) for dessert. They are always busy, there is already a line from 11:00. They do not take bookings, so go early or be prepared to wait once lunch time starts. They are generally very quick with food coming out, service is fast and efficient. If you're not in to phò, or want to try something else, this is the place for a hearty noodle soup with succulent chicken - they have other dishes as well, but are well-known for the crispy skin chicken noodles.

The most incredible Vietnamese I've had in a long time.. I knew Cabramatta had great Viet food, but hadn't had a chance to visit. Was not disappointed. The food took about 10 mins flat, so fast. Delicious and well made pork off the bone, crispy chicken, tomato rice and pickled veggies. Will definitely be back again soon!!

Large portion size and tasty food. Love they allow customers choose the noodle and meat different combination. Pork chop and drop noodles are their must try.

Clean, fast service, friendly staffs, most important is the food is delicious and fair price! Crispy chicken tender and juicy with nice smoke flavor, clear noodle soup is full of rich bone stock taste, and the combination soup is a lot of ingredients! Highly recommend who like to eat with kids comfy and easily!

Their signature crispy chicken and red rice / egg noodles with crispy chicken were soo good. I can't say about the other dishes since I haven't tried it yet but I've been here since I was a child and their signature dishes alone deserve the 5 star rating.

Great crispy chicken! My fav pair is with the dry noodle. The tomato rice is not that good. The hainan rice is not the best either.
Pao Basilio
Crispy Chicken is indeed crispy and delicious. They have big servings so definitely worth it. The service was very quick despite heaps of customers.

Follow me for more good reviews Go there for the crispy skin chicken, what a treat, the chicken is so juicy on the inside and so crispy on the outside, stands out for sure!!

Hadn’t been here for a while. This place is still the go to place for crispy chicken. The Wonton soup is also excellent. Thoroughly recommended.

The one place that never seems to disappoint! My all time favourite place in Sydney - I would eat it everyday if I could. Chicken is always hot, skin is always crispy and everything is always so fresh.
Xlittlecupcake
Come here for the crispy skin chicken 🍗🍗🍗 w tomato rice or noods

The spicy beef was amazing, will definitely come back for this dish.
Fast friendly staff and service

the food is excellent but the service is so bad to the point that i would just take my money and eat somewhere else. The waiters were so arrogant and treated customers like we didn’t have enough money to pay.

My mum introduced me to this place and I’ve been spreading the word ever since! No marketing needed here cause the food sells itself. Their noddle soups and crispy fried chicken are sensational though their drinks can be hit or miss sometimes. Make sure to get there early for lunch cause there’s always a long queue.

If you'd like to read more of my reviews, please check out my Zomato page and visit @cynthiaeats_ on Instagram for more photos!

Everyone praises their crispy skin chicken so i tried it myself and it is actually taste amazingly good!!! Unfortunately, when my son halfway eating his bbq pork noodles he found a cute bug in his soup. I guess at the end of the day it comes down to hygiene of the kitchen.

As the name suggests, Tan Viet is popular for its noodles. My favourite dish to order is the crispy chicken with rice or soup egg noodles! This place is basically always busy, particularly on weekends. Food service is very quick as with a lot of Vietnamese restaurants in Cabramatta. It’s a good place to eat for small to medium sized groups!

I like how Cabramatta restaurants don’t have restricted or unreliable hours like some similar suburbs. You can get pork rolls 24 hours and if you want chicken and noodles at 9am, there are plenty of options. Tan Viet was a great option for me - tender chicken with perfect crispy skin. No real cheap options but I got a large bowl of noodles with it plus soup and sprouts, so it was a lot of food for the price. The service is rough and shouty but very efficient.

This place is always busy but the wait is never too long. Arrived here for dinner last night and we sat by the door since there were no seats and it was freezing (typical sydney weather). The waiters took our order and once a seat cleared up inside, asked if we would like to move in further to keep warm and that's probably the best service I've had from here.

The chicken can never be at fault, definitely a great feed!

We noticed a line outside this place on Sunday lunchtime and decided to see what the fuss was all about. It looked like most people were eating the crispy chicken so we tried that - hands down the best I've ever had. So crispy on the outside, yet juicy on the inside. Hainan chicken was okay, a little on the dry side. The broth was clear but a little bland. Service was really quick despite it being a full house during lunchtime. Delicious and filling!

Zomato
Will may eat 👍
will May eat 👍

Food - crispy skin chicken with tomato rice or noodle. This place is the OG and the best.
Venue - busy, quick turnover.
Price - less than $20 pp

Always good and consistent. My go to place in cabramatta. Always busy and often there's a line which I would be happy to line up.

I always go for the crispy chicken noodle. There are other items but I've never ordered them
Phammage
This is an institution known for their signature crispy skin chicken and dry noodle dish. No other eatery has ever come close in quality.
Faultless, consistent and generous portions and deserves nothing but 5 star.
Expect to wait in a queue around high peak times (lunch and dinner) but well worth it.
Daisyle48
This place is amazing!! I come here ever now and then (5min drive from home) and the food is amazing. It’s even more amazing when the food comes out piping hot! The bowls are big and very filling to eat. The desserts are good too! This is one of the best place if you are craving noodles or just something hot during winter. You guys would not be disappointed :)
Kololee
Great place to eat chicken and have some refreshing drinks. We had a variety of the latter, 3 different drinks, and we were thoroughly impressed.

Crispy chicken, pickled vegetables and tomato rice ($15). This restaurant is consistently busy at all times of the day and offers a classic and a much-loved favourite on the menu of any Vietnamese eatery. As this place specialises in it you can imagine how well they've perfected their cooking method. I personally wouldn't even bother flicking through the menu because you should definitely order the chicken the only real choice you have is whether you want dry/wet soup or rice!
BrandonK
I went out to Cabramatta just to try their crispy fried chicken after reading about it. It’s not a big menu at Tan Viet but that didn’t matter. In fact, the only choice I was going to have to make was rice or noodles!

I opted for soup noodles. Literally two minutes later, my order arrived! I was astounded by how fast the service was.

The chicken was very good. I’d have rated it a 9/10. The soup noodles were perfect - 10/10. The noodles were springy and the soup was great. Overall, I’d have rated it 4.5/5 but I always round up.

It’s a long way out to Cabramatta from the city but I will go out for it again. One of the best I have had.
Owin Camero
One of my favourite go to places for crispy chicken skin. I would recommend getting there early due its popularity at lunch time. Service is quite fast but over time I feel like quality has fallen short due to a high demand. Would rate higher but rare occasions I’ll get dry chicken or noodles. However a well known place in Cabramatta and a place to try out!
Kravengerfoodie
Famous joint in cabramatta and everyone would rave about this place to you to try on. They’re very famous for their tomato rice and fried chicken but the rice is on a bland side can’t taste the tomatoes if you’ll like to call it tomato rice without the taste than make it red rice. The fried chicken is crispy skin and juicy meat which is satisfying. Thought the noodle will be pho noodle but it’s actually egg noodle. Broth is flavourful yet they should give more variety on noodle type.

Service is fast. If you’re in for a quick meal they’re def quick.

Price is slight expensive
Picturesque Food
I came back to Tan Viet after a long hiatus due to the long line outside the restaurant during lunch time. So after work nearing closing time, I decided to dine and I was very disappointed. I initially stopped coming to this restaurant not because of the quality, but the continual increases in prices.
Today, the quality was abysmal. The rice was definitely mixed in with old rice. The chicken was not as crispy as it had been in the past. And they are the two reasons you come to this restaurant!
HANGRYHUNGRY
My favourite place since i was a child to eat at! They sell the best chicken! The skin is always crunchy and the meat is soo soft! The soup they give with rice meals are always soo tasty and hits the spot. I’ve watched this place grow from a small little shop in an alley way, to a full form restaurant.

I can honestly say through all the years of dining here, their quality is the same. Prices have increased though. But you honestly can’t go wrong if you order orange rice with chicken. They give you a fish sauce that goes super well with the chicken and rice - absolute bomb. And a small bowl of soup. Or i would recommend the chicken noodle soup. Anything with chicken is guaranteed to be good. Basically like an asian el jannahs. Absolutely love this place!
Mik Encoy
Been here about 3 times already and I absolutely love it here. Fried chicken and noodles are the bread and butter for this place. Now this is what asian food should taste like! I wish i can have this in the States. Mouth is already watering just thinking about the food. Will be back again soon!
Moifa
Best crispy skin chicken noodles in Sydney, crispy outside and soft inside! I usually get thirsty after eating viet noodles because of their MSG, but their soup doesn't make me thirsty at all. I have been to their Eastwood branch few times, but the quality is not that consistent. Unlike the usual viet restaurant, this one is quite spacious and I can bring my pram in easily.
Eat With Pete
One of the best crispy skin chicken restaurants in Sydney.

There is usually a long line outside around dinner time so be prepared for a bit of a wait.
Jody Foodie
Tan Viet Noodle House is a very popular Vietnamese Cripsy Skin Chicken Restaurant. It is always busy for dinner so be prepared for a bit of a wait.

My favourite is the Crispy Skin Chicken with egg noodles (dry, no soup). The fish sauce is AMAZING and the chicken is always juicy. This is one of the best Crispy Skin Chicken restaurant in Western Sydney in my humble opinion.

Highly recommend this place is you’re ever in Cabramatta.
Julie Nguyen
Haven’t been here in years and was having cravings so decided to stop by to order some crispy chicken with egg noodles and omg it was so good!! The chicken was so so tender and J00c3y and the skin was crispy. The noodles went well with the chicken and I really enjoyed the sauce that the noodles came with 😍 will definitely be back and highly recommend this place!!

Fantastic place-my go to for crispy skin chicken and red rice. Service is always quick and the dessert is good as well. Really enjoy the bo kho- has an authentic taste
Joseph Tran
Always recommend the usual. Crispy Chicken with tomato rice or the egg noodles. Nothing else with beat that. ALWAYS RECOMMEND eating on a weekday. Weekend there's a long line, unless you like to wait.

Met up with a friend in Sydney and she recommended to try this place out. Usually this place is really busy (people line up) but we met up at 9am so it was not too bad. I ordered the crispy chicken with egg noodles (in soup). For $15 at Cabramatta, the price is a bit more expensive (the price has definitely increased judging by the written on price changes on the menu). The chicken was delicious though (very succulent, flavourful and definitely crispy). The noodles and soup was tasty but very average when comparing to other Vietnamese restaurants. The place was very nice, very open, spacious and quiet. The only downside is that this place does NOT have EFTPOS available and NO SPLITTING BILLS! and the broth of the soup was nothing special.

Would definitely recommend to try the crispy chicken though!
Maliha Fairoze
Only downside to my visit here was there were way too many people. Crispy chicken was amazing, waitress was super polite and patient. Didn't dent my bank account either! Would visit again!

We decided to try this place as it was packed on a weekday lunch time. The service from staff were friendly. We had ordered the 'Com Tam Dac Biet' and 'Com Ga gia gion'. I found every dish standard, however, the crispy chicken stood out the most. the skin was nicely crispy, and the meat still soft and tender - not overcooked. The vietnamese style iced coffee was also very tasty. I would definitely consider returning when I get crispy chicken cravings 😁
Connoisseurc
4.5 stars

I’ve eaten here at least once a year for the last few years.
The crispy chicken is extremely consistent and delicious.
It’s nice to be able to order an extra serve of chicken only on top of an order of chicken and noodles/rice.

Not too uncomfortable to sit in. A good feed for under $20pp.
Sandra Sou
It seems to be one of the busiest restaurants in Cabramatta and this is definitely reflected through the quality of its food. Would recommend the crispy chicken egg noodles :)
Serenia Lee
The chicken served here is amazingly good and crispy! Lots of seats and tables! Great for groups of family or friends! The pricing and portions are very reasonable.

Great Food, Even better prices ! What else could you ask for ?

This is my go-to recommendation for crispy skin chicken. I remembered when this place first opened up when i was younger. The queue was ridicously long and i wonder why on earth would people line up? Well, i was young and naive cause once i tried the crispy skin chicken for myself - i was sold. They've opened up a few more locations since then so there's less of a queue but it still there during peak lunch on weekends.

I've been meaning to take my partner who i've been raving about this place to for awhile now.

If you want a bang for your buck, more than satisfactory meal - hit this place up. I don't think you can go wrong.
Justin K
Very shocking for price nothing about the main meal is less than $10, it expensive. Its not value for money. Somewhere else the tomato rice is only $10 but here is $15, what a rip off. Not worth for money. Over charge those idiots who go there.
Frankiieshungrytummy
This place always has a line outside wherever we walk past.
We decided to chance it one day and walked up the front to ask the guy how long the wait was. Surprisingly enough, they let us in draught away!
The service was pretty good and the food came out relatively quickly.
The food wasn't too bad but my wonton noodle soup lacked a bit of flavour.
Located on the end of busy John street so is quite easy to get to.
Make sure you bring money because it's cash only!
Peanutbutter&jelly
SUCCULENT is the first word that came to my mind when biting into the crispy skin chicken. Deeeeeeelicious. The red rice wasn’t that impressive but I would highly recommend the egg noodles (dry).

This place is an institution for a reason. It’s cheap and it’s good! I wish i lived closer to it! Don’t expect service though it’s your classic Asian dining experience (so none there).
Rozz113
We were served quickly and the waiter was friendly. Quite busy even though it was close to closing time. We ordered goat curry with rice noodles. My friend the pho expert said that this was really, really Good! The meat was tender and the broth was spicy and it was a generous serving size. He said he will be back for sure.

Tan Viet is a must when you crave Vietnamese styled crispy skinned chicken. I ordered a dry noodle dish with a side of crispy chicken and soup. This restaurant is a crowd favourite as their chicken will never disappoint. It is always juicy, crispy and tender!

The dry noodles were soaked in a brown-ish sauce and heaps of fried garlic oil which delivers a punch. It is placed upon a bed of iceberg lettuce leaves and served with fish sauce and cooked/uncooked bean sprouts (according to preference).

This restaurant is fast paced where food is ordered via a tablet/phone and sauces and extras are delivered within a 5-10 minute frame. On weekends during lunch hour expect a long wait, as everyone is a fan of Tan Viet!

Had the crispy chicken noodles and I was amazed at the presentation when the noodles came out, the food was amazing, especially the crispy chicken with the fish sauce!
Gloria Giang
Usually quite busy so queueing outside is often required to get a table. My fav is either the dish they’re famous for: tomato rice with crispy skin chicken, or the goat curry which can be a little on the spicy side, depending on your tolerance. The chicken is nice and sweet, as is the goat curry.

I was in Syd last month (for only 2 weeks) for work from Melbourne and was craving some egg noodles and crispy chicken as the ones here in Melbourne are quite mediocre.
Came across this place from reviews on zomato and OMGGG IT WAS THE BEST I EVER HAD!!! Had it twice within the 2 weeks.
I highly advise the large bowl. The crispy chicken was made perfectly.
When I visit Syd again, i will without a doubt come back here!!!! May this place live long and prosper!!!
Judy Tu
Growing up as a Vietnamese girl, I've tried a lot of crispy chicken but nothing compares to Tan Viet. The meat of the chicken is always so juicy and tender and the crispy skin always makes my day. There will most likely be a line but it's definitely worth the wait!
Food Is Life
Always consistently great! Love it!! I don't think I've ever been disappointed when coming here. Funny enough when I'm hungry, this place always cheers me up. Never change! (Unless they find a way to make something awesome more awesome. Go ahead and do it. But seriously perfect the way it is). Number one dish: Crispy chicken and dry egg noodles. Honestly haven't tried anything else but this one. Cos its soo good!
Kev Mak
Love the crispy skin chicken with dry egg noodles.Dont know their secret but , its good. There is always a line however this moves quickly and lets face it, with food like this you dont mind waiting 5- 10 mins.
Kaishi
Very crispy chicken! Compared to other crispy chicken restaurants, this by far is the best! Egg noodles are de-licious xD and service is alright
Erlington Andrew Ong
I ordered the herb duck noodle soup. Soup was well balance, herb was subtle and clean tasting. Duck was soft, it just falls off the bone. Service was fast.
Melzy Phan
Even though there was a bit of a wait, it was totally worth it! I had the signature crispy chicken with egg noodles. Every time I go I'm never disappointed. The shop is very packed and always bustling. Would recommend!

Decent place to eat viet food. The decor resembles foodcourt sitting with a few booths. The price for the food is reasonable and they came out quite promptly after ordering. Their best dish is the crispy chicken and tomato rice. Their broken rice dish has a small portion of chicken which is a shame and their hainan chicken is the worst. Overall if you're just craving viet food, this place is at best ok.
Zoe Bui
This restaurant always crowded, sometimes you have to be wait for seated. Food is very delicious, nice staffs.
Remember to bring Cash.😆😆😆
I love dining at Tan Viet Noodle House. It is one of my favourite casual dining places in Cabramatta. There is always a line around 11am-12pm so expect to wait for quite some time. The restaurant is massive and they serve the food quite quickly after you order despite it being super packed and busy. They have a wide variety of dishes consisting of rice and noodles. They are famous for their egg noodles with crispy chicken, so it is a must try. Though, one downside is that there is only one female and one male toilet. There is usually always a line for the restroom as well.
The Sydney Tram
Normally I wouldn't join a queue for a restaurant, but 15 minute wait today at Tan Viet was an exception. This restaurant is famous for their crispy chicken, which is served with either dry/ soup noodles or tomato rice. The chicken meat is soft and juicy, underneath the thin crispy layer of skin.

For those who said Tan Viet is overrated, mind you, the majority dish they do is crispy chicken. So if you order a different rice or noodles dish, you shouldn't expect it to be superb. That being said, if you decide to order something else other than their signature dish, go for black herbal duck, Hainam chicken, broken rice; and avoid the spicy beef stew at any cost.
Fat Journey
The crispy chicken was really good, i highly recommend their crispy chicken and tomato rice. As for their noodle, it tastes like a soup full of leek, really not good at all. Pork chop's nice. I think that's all
MizTea_SydneyFoodCritiX
I'm sorry but this place was far too overrated, it was overpriced and the taste of food wasn't that good. I have ordered the same dish at different locations and it was always good. We were told this was a good place and with the reviews we decided to try. Such a disappointment :(
Lily Nguy
Ate here on 17/06/2017 at 4:00pm and I was with a 1 year old. Asked for glass of water for my daughter. The female waiter came with a glass of iced water and I asked for no ice for the baby and she gave me the biggest dirty look and walked away without saying a word. She then return with a jug of 'cold' water with no glasses and walked off. This is the first time I received such bad service. Very disappointing since I eat here very often. Will never go back.
Frillz & Co
There's only one thing I come here for and it's the crispy chicken with egg noodles. I've had this dish so many times from several different places but this place makes it THE BEST! It's always nice and fresh and crispy just as the title of the dish implies. Hat off to you guys for always meeting my expectations!
Hemi Guahk
Hands down the best crispy chicken i have ever tasted. It is very affordable as well!! For $14 you can get a noodle soup or dry noodles with a side of crispy chicken.
Flick Vuong
Best crispy skin chicken dish I have ever had, the service can be a bit off putting from time to time, always a line up to get in on weekends at lunchtime. Great price and filling.
Azi Kelly
I had been to Vietnam recently and was craving another hit of the amazing cuisine. So I decided to visit Tan Viet Noodle House. I had the egg noodles with BBQ pork and some Che for dessert. The flavours came quite close to what I had in Vietnam. Service was great and the prices were very affordable. Would definitely visit again ☺
Sapphirerose
Crispy chicken was good but soup a bit bland with very small amount of green veg. Egg noddles are slightly undercooked. Choices are limited. Curry serving size was small. Food is a bit pricier than others. Its over rated.
Alicia Conlon
Nothing to write home about, food wasn't anything special but was well priced. I would rate somewhere more gritty for a better feed in Cabramatta
Leon
Tan Viet Noodle House is a legendary Vietnamese restaurant in Cabramatta which is popular for its addictive crispy chicken and egg noodles.

My first visit to Tan Viet ended in disappointment - the egg noodles in soup was soggy and overcooked.

But my second sttempt was a delightful culinary experience. The tender and juicy crispy chicken, dipped in fluorescent-like sweet chilli, was tasty but I hoped they could marinate the chicken longer so that it was more flavourful. I slurped the delicious springy egg noodles within seconds and secretly hoped my girlfriend would permit me to try a second serving! How I wish more Asian noodle restaurants in Sydney could serve this delicious egg noodles (It's very common to taste this delicious springy noodles in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia though).
Kellu 🌟
Whenever I come here (which is pretty often) I always get the Dry Noodles and Crispy Skin Chicken, because it's always been a particular favourite of mine ever since I was a child ☺️

• The service is quite quick and the waiters are friendly

• The egg noodles are complimented with a spoonful of fried garlic, leeks, coriander and a few leaves of iceberg lettuce - which adds a little crunch to the noodles.

• The chicken is deliciously crispy and succulent. It's about the size of half a chicken, and each bite is juicy and tender.

• The dish also comes with a clear soup which is peppered with coriander and spring onions, and is a tasty way to finish your meal
Milo_wendy
Consistently good crispy chicken egg noodle soup.
Tan Viet is known for its crispy chicken either dry (no soup) or with soup. Sitting at the top of John street of the shopping strIp of Cabramatta, this place sometimes gets so busy that there is a line to get in on weekends for lunch. Definitely worth the wait as tables are turned over quickly. Food is also fresh and quick. There is plenty of seating and a ramp for prams/walkers, but is partially used to store bins and trolleys.
We ordered the crispy chicken noodle soup with egg noodles, white rice noodles are also available but egg noodles have that bite to it (al dente) and doesn't go soggy like white rice noodles do. It comes in a bowl with clear broth, chives, shallots, and coriander. The broth is tasty, not too salty and not too sweet. The dish comes with a side of bean sprouts, I personally prefer cooked bean sprouts and I further cook them in the soup as it comes out piping hot. The dipping sauce generally made with fish sauce, sugar and vinegar also had some chilli in it - yummy when dipped with your chicken, the combination of flavours are good. The chicken had a crispy skin and was moreish. Its tasty on its own but next level when dipped in the sauce. I also ordered a side of pickled vegetables of carrot and cabbage. It was mildly spicy, sweet and salty. It was yummy, crunchy and tasted fresh. I tend to order every time I come here.
We also ordered the black pepper beef (cubed) with tomato rice with a side salad. We specifically asked for no garnish on the dish but still received the meal with garnish. It comes with a small bowl of clear broth, salt and pepper to dip the meat as well. The flavours of the meat were nice, slightly peppery but the meat was not tender, otherwise tasty. The tomato rice was okay, I personally prefer white rice. The broth was a bit salty but otherwise nice. We finished the meal off with a lemon soda with freshly squeezed lemon juice. It was a nice combination of sweet and tangy. We always order it every time we come here.
Definitely will be back for the crispy chicken, but remember to bring cash as there is no Eftpos facilities.
Kelly
Hands down the best crispy chicken ever! You can take my word for it aswell as the other reviews. I've had crispy chicken at so many other places and none compares. Do yourself a favour and get on it.
Stacy
This place is known for their Crispy Skin Chicken and there is definitely a reason why. I grew up in Cabramatta and whenever we wanted to get either Com or Mi Ga Don, it was (still is) imperative to come here. The chicken skin is crispy but somehow still retains heaps of moisture and tenderness in the meat - never burnt or dry. Never disappoints - just difficult deciding whether or not you want rice or noodles :P
Supersabroso
Great food, the pork chop was especially good. Everybody loved their noodles. Generous amount of bean shoots. Great price on the pork chop. The chicken was nice too but nothing amazing.
Aileen
The crispy chicken is as crispy as it named. The chicken skin was so crispy and not soggy. The chicken meat is tender and surprisingly it's not dry. So I acknowledged their number one dish.
Their hainam chicken was tender but it doesn't surprise me because it tasted like an ordinary hainam chicken but still worth giving it a try.
On the other side I was quite a bit sad with their deluxe pork chop, the named doesn't quite suite their dish. The broken rice was dry, the rice noodles was also dry and the most sad part is their egg. It's dry and tasteless. But great fully their pork chop is tender and crispy.
Detailed review: grabandbites.blogspot.com.au/2016/10/tan-viet-noodle-house-cabramatta.html

The crispy skin chicken with tomato rice is simply unrivalled here at this store. The drop noodle is also another favourite of mine - would come here every day if it was closer!

Update 07/17, been here a couple more times after my initial visit. Their cubed rump beef w tomato rice 4/5 was awesome.

Despite being confronted with a dizzying array of choices in cabra, we weren't about to pass tan viet up.

Tomato rice with crispy skin fried chicken 3.5/5
Dry noodle with crispy skin fried chicken 3.75/5

Something of an institution this place. Is a defo return if we are in the area.

The original and the best Crispy chicken noodle place in Cabramatta! It's a must go for anyone who's new in town or visiting for a short trip. Really busy on the weekends but their service is super dooper fast and the soup is delicious, not to mention the crispy chicken!! Just melts in your mouth.. they're not famous for nothing!!
Pacc
Came here solely for the crispy chicken for $9. Dont bother ordering any soup dishes, their broth is pretty bad. Bustling ambience and attentive service.
The Laksa King
Crispy skin chicken! Came here today for lunch with my family, arrived at around 11:45am only had to wait 2 groups in front of us, plenty of tables so the line moves relatively fast! Rice noodle soups with meats and sides of crispy skin chicken, the chicken lives us to its reputation as this place does not disappoint! Service was fast and efficient, clean establishment indeed. Finding parking for this place is a bit of a mission, but thats Cabramatta. My whole family enjoyed the meal. Prices are fair cost $90.50 for 5 adults. We will be back!

I've been here so many times I've lost counted. Service is always good and food generally comes out within 5-10 minutes. It was surprisingly quick especially when I happened to go during Father's Day & the Moon Festival on the same day (the queue outside was a different story). They are well known for their tomato rice or egg noodles w/ crispy chicken. I get one or the other when I dine here. This is definitely the best crispy chicken you could get from all the Vietnamese restaurants I've been to. A downside is that they only take cash.
The Engineer Eats
Curiosity got to better of me, we joined the long queue to get into #TanViet in #cabramatta as it supposedly serves the best crispy fried chicken in town. Not sure I'd agree with that, it's good but probably not the best. Although I think others will beg to differ as there is always a queue at the restaurant!
Sarah&Gluttony
Tan Viet Is probably my favourite restaurant in Cabramatta, and I can safely say it's not a place for those expecting polite hospitality. I can only compare my dining experience to the 'Soup Nazi' episode from Seinfeld... Weird service, amazing soup.

We were greeted with "yeahhhh", followed by 10 mins of the silent treatment from the waitress. Empty teapot? Steal one from another table pls.

The food is excellent, hands down. This isn't you're typical Phở joint, the menu is small but diverse with massive servings. I suggest trying the crispy skin chicken.

& FYI, very clean toilets.
Food.Adventurez
Tan Viet has the best fried Vietnamese chicken, every time I go there I always ordered crispy chicken egg noodle or red rice. The chicken skin is crispy also a neat presentation. Would recommend to go there when you crave for Vietnamese crispy chicken.
Marco
service was incredibly quick ,we ordered 2 dishes and both came out not even 5 minutes, they dont sell many items on this shop, probably to keep their quality to the perfection, and the mixed fruit drink was awesome as well!!will defi come back again next time

Normally, I would not drive to Cabra for 40 minutes to have a fried chicken dish but since the restaurant we went to initally was such a let down, it was a no brainer to walk across the road to try the highest rated noodle bar on Zomato. The restaurant was big and packed. It was modern and bright and the moment we walked in, a waitress who was in the middle of the restaurant quickly ushered us to an available table and the menu's came just as quick.

The menu was very clear and not cluttered with 400 dishes like traditional Vietnamese restaurants which was a welcome relief. There were photos to help make the decision easier and due to the small size makes for quicker decisons, faster food service and quicker turnover of tables. I was excited because it meant that everything on the small menu were their speciality and would be cooked well. So it's a win, win, win for all!!

A quick glance around the restaurant confirmed that the fried chicken was the go to dish so I ordered one with dry egg noodles. At $14 it wasn't cheap by any standards, especially for Cabramatta but it didn't matter if it was as good everything suggested. The chicken maryland was cooked perfectly, with it's paper thin skin as crispy as it could be while the flesh throughout the entire piece juicy. The chicken came with Cantonese style spiced salt and nuoc cham and the noodles were cooked firm and topped with crispy mince garlic and oil along with chives, coriander and lettuce. There was a bowl of clear soup too. Everything was good so yes, it was well worth the $14 and well deserving to be called their signature dish.

The Spicy Beef (Bo Kho) was a classic Vietnamese cassarole and came with an option of rice, noodles or bread roll. The brisket and tendons were perfect cuts for texture adding a gelatinous finish to the sauce and richness supported by a perfect balance of star anise, garlic, cinnamon, lemongrass and brightened by paprika and chilli powder. A dish which should be finished to the end and the bread was a perfect accompaniment to this mooreish dish.

Tan Viet does so many things so well and run like a well oiled machine. The systems in place are excellent in a bright, clean modern restaurant where service is fast and friendly and the food is uncomprimisngly good. It is well worth the extra few dollars because I feel confident, the next time I visit, the food standard will be exactly the same.

Had the crispy chicken and tomato rice. The crispy chicken by itself is good enough, the tomato rice didn't really add to the dish for me. Nice staff!

I wish I understood the hype of the crispy chicken noodles here, I really wish I did. But I don't. I've been here a few times and I will say the chicken is crispy, and it tastes pretty decent but the noodles (both soup and dry) are very basic.

The best. It's a big drive out for us but no one in Sydney beats their deep fried chicken with rice noodle soup!! They open at 9am on Sunday's so it's perfect time to get up early and travel for a perfect warm hit.

This shop gets crazy busy but somehow we've always managed to beat the rush--then as soon as we're seated there's a queue!

Crispy skin chicken all the way. It's tender and juicy inside, salty and sticky and crispy outside. Egg noodles dry or on soup--depends on the mood. Pretty good iced coffees too.

This restaurant is always busy with a line of people waiting to get in every time that I have been.

Their crispy chicken is a hit amongst the locals and visitors to Cabramatta. They are quick to take your order and the food is served just as fast.
The best place to get Vietnamese crispy skin chicken. People come here for the food and not the service so don't expect too much from the staff. The food comes out quick and it's always so tasty!

A Cabramatta institution, and the long line of eager punters each weekend proves it. They run the place really well, efficient ordering, fast food to the table. Crispy chicken is amongst the best in Sydney, their beef stew is another brilliant standout. If you haven't been, you're missing out.

Who doesn't love crispy fried chicken with egg noodles? Add your favourite flavour combinations and you're ready to go.... The chicken is perfectly crispy and piping hot. The egg noodles come out under a bed of lettuce, fried shallots, spring onion and coriander. One of my favourite places on John street.

This place is usually full when I walk past. I was never interested in eating here though, until a friend said that they were in the mood for crispy chicken, which is how we ended up here, early on a Sunday night.
Ordered and had the food delivered to us within 15 minutes. I had the Deluxe Pork Chop with Broken Rice ($13.00). The pork chop was juicy and succulent, and went well with the accompanying dipping sauce. Along with the pork chop was a slice of meatloaf, fried egg and rice.
I couldn't finish the meal, and left a large portion of rice and egg behind. Overall, delicious Vietnamese food in giant portions at low prices- great value for money. You won't be hungry when you leave this place.
Service lacked warmth, but this is like most cheap traditional Asian restaurants.

My Vietnamese colleague recommended that I must try their crispy chicken dish. Boy I was not disappointed one bit. Crispy chicken was perfectly crispy and juicy eating it was pure joy! I ordered with dry egg noodle which was very nice too. Amazing pho broth, fresh sprouts. I'm definitely coming back for more!
